Suffer the Little Children, hosted by Laine, is a podcast that gives voices back to victims of child abuse murder and their families.
Episode 184: Kinsleigh Welty | Suffer the Little Children
When Indianapolis police responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive child on April 9, 2024, they couldn’t have guessed the horrific circumstances of the victim’s life and death. 5-year-old Kinsleigh Welty, who weighed only 21 pounds, was clearly malnourished. She had a bruise on her face and fecal matter on her body and matted into her hair, which was crawling with lice. Kinsleigh was pronounced dead at Riley Hospital for Children the same day.
This is the story of yet another child failed by Indiana’s child welfare system. It’s also the story of yet another case of reunification gone wrong and a child who thrived in the care of others, only to die at the hands of a biological parent.
Also in this episode, you’ll hear from Kinsleigh’s great-aunt, Carrie Hogan, who, along with many others, demands change from Indiana’s Department of Child Services.
This is the gut-wrenching story of Kinsleigh Welty.

I really want to know if it’s possible to find out from dad or the lady’s boyfriend is he took her out to a goodwill a few months before she died.
Try working a single hour for DCF.
That exact same sh happens in Europe
“I buy all of her diapers “ liar!!!!
I have 3 dogs. 2 are inside and one is outside. They all get treated the same. They all have food and a bed. They have bones and toys to play with. How the fuck could you or why would you want to treat your own child this way!
Is there a written transcript of these interviews anywhere or is watching closed caption the only option?
What a handsome little boy!! I thought he was a girl until the beginning of his story/case. I don’t see that as a bad thing. People did the same thing with my son when he was that age. Now, he’s 24 and so handsome. Yes, imma proud momma! All my kids could shave their heads and wear a potato sack and still be gorgeous!! If, Hod forbid anything happened to my children or my grandbabies, I would have to be sedated!!! I wouldn’t be able to leave the house!! Much less go to the movies. That’s pretty cold right there!! I’m all about healthy distractions. However, snapping pics at the movies, all smiles…yeah, I ain’t feelin that at all!! RIP Ky’ mani!!! This case is heartbreaking!!ii!!ii 💔💔💔😥🥺😥😊
Ryan Welty, you are guilty as well. Granted they did give her back. Where were you at when she was starving knowing she was starving or at least should’ve known she was starving. You never give up complaining and hounding in Spying
The grandmother and the grandfather speaking about it could’ve been very easily avoided. Yes, you should live with that for the rest of your life because you could’ve done something about it you knew the mother was abusive and you sat back and let that little girl die.
Every single person that knew about this needs to be prosecuted every one of them
Every single person that knew about this needs to be prosecuted every one of them
It is infuriating that some cannot understand that reunification is great but only if it is safe for the child. It is a wonderful goal but should be done on a case by case basis. So upsetting.
God allows adversity to not only bring us closer to Him, but also to make us stronger, smarter, tougher, and to just all around help us grow as human beings. My Dad always said “Roll with the punches”. I will second that but I will also add…Stay prayed up!! If you get to where you’re dealing with something you have no control of, LET IT GO!!! GIVE IT TO THE CREATOR!!! You may not understand or agree with His choices for you, later on however, I PROMISE it always works out one way or another. I lost my parents a few years back 15 months apart and just this year, 2024, I JUST have finally started to come around and figure out who I am without them. Both of their passings were unexpected. So on top of the shock, I was dealing with grief and confusion. The next worst thing is losing a child. I have four and could not imagine what a parent goes through dealing and coping. I would have to be hospitalized. I am sending up many many prayers to God and sending lots of positive, healing energy straight to Momma!!! I am positive that she is growing and changing and coping quite well, considering!! WE ARE ROOTING FOR YOU LADY!!!! I believe your baby girl will always be with you, but she is also now surrounded by Our Creators Love and Light bc He is AWESOME!!! Keep up the tough work!!! God bless!!
Statistically, it takes a woman who is being abused to leave her abuser SEVEN TIMES leaving to finally call it quits and decide to stay gone and away. Seven times…us women are stubborn aren’t we??? An abuser has to genuinely want and need to change and then they will have a long road of therapy to rebuild who they are as a man or woman (bc women can be abusers to their spouses as well). It’s a long hard road and it takes literally a miracle for this to happen but after the experience I have had and the training as an abuse counselor I went through, it is more believable than someone who has never been abused.
I have a habit of typing novels when I start a comment so I’ll try to keep this short and sweet. When I was in kindergarten, we lived in The FL Keys. My mother had a disgruntled employee of her cleaning business who I guess got mad for whatever reason and made, what I call a “spite call” to the then, HRS office. A social worker then came to my school and asked me if my parents “rolled their own cigarettes”. My mom smoked my entire life and when times got tough, my dad would roll her cigarettes for her. My parents NEVER did any drugs at all. Not even weed. They did drink quite a bit. Back then however, they were functioning alcoholics. They took excellent care of me minus their constant fighting due to my mom getting black out drunk and accusing my dad of everything under the sun and constantly leaving and coming back. In my dad’s defense, he never put his hands on my mother more than to push her away from him. Anyway!! After the sneaky meeting HRS had with me. They then made an appointment with my parents. They actually accused my parents of being drug addicts. Idk what happened. I only know that I was never taken away from my parents and was told to never speak to anyone again without my parents present. My kids also have been instructed to do this bc I will NEVER trust CPS, HRS, DCFS etc!!! That’s NOT just bc of what happened when I was a child. CPS sucks everywhere and children are losing their lives bc of it!!! Short(ish) and sweet right??? This poor little boy should be my age right now. It’s so flippin sad.
I totally did the bottle prop thingy when my babies were babies. However!!!! To do it to the point where a baby gets what sounded like a “diaper rash” on their chin is unthinkably HORRIFIC!!! Like holy crap!! That brings laziness to a whole new level!! She’s a violent MONSTER!!! My fiancé was married to a woman just like this for 25 years. I’ve heard the horror stories. Yes, women can be abusers of their spouses as well!! What a POS!!! RIP Sweet Babygirl!! Fly High Beautiful! You are no longer in pain or traumatized. She is now surrounded by Our Creators Love and Light!! 👼 🕊️ 🪽
I wanted to share a story about what happened to me once. I used to live underneath a woman who had several children and was constantly beating them. I never saw them play outside. They were only permitted to go to their outdoor porch where they got into all kinds of mischief. One night, I heard what was clearly yet another beating. The child cried and abruptly stopped and ice ran through me. After a few minutes of back and forth in my mind and conversation with my daughter’s now deceased father, I decided to go ahead and call 911 anonymously. The police came, spoke to the momster and then ultimately decided everything was ok. (I have no idea whether they saw all the children etc.) However, as the cops were leaving, one of them said, loud enough for everyone who may have been listening and watching that “people need to mind their own business! What good does it do to See so,etching, say something if the folks who are charged to investigate and protect these children at risk or abuse neglect to even care enough to refer cases to CPS who also, very often, neglects to do their jobs!! Instead, I see innocent families having to jump through 1000 hoops just to get them off their backs!! I had a whole thing typed out and decided against sharing it all. If anyone is interested in hearing the many court dates and mishandling of my son’s custody cases, just let me know. I am an open book and can unfortunately relate to almost every aspect of this particular case except for the child unfortunately being brutally murdered by their parent. I think we got lucky on that front btw. This man I am speaking of is a manipulative, abusive POS. My parents hated his guts!! They did more for my son than his “dad” could ever dream of doing!! Anyway, if anyone actually reads all of this, i thank you and I hope maybe sharing some of my story might help someone, even if it’s just letting them know that this happens often and they’re not alone!!
I looked on Ryan’s fb earlier. It still listed that he is “in a relationship with Toni Renee” on his cover pic there is a precious little curly brown haired baby. (The baby resembles kinsleigh💔) I do believe it is Toni and Ryan’s baby. Ryan took pictures posing with the baby, and it makes it that more heart breaking, that poor little kinsleigh was treated so so badly. Ryan didn’t do a dang thing to help that baby, if he could’ve just spoke up she would still be here!! Now he wants to act like father of the year with his biological daughter he had with Toni, and from what it seems, him and Toni may still be together. He disgust me just as badly as toni and that grand-monster.
People are so selfish nowadays
This is such shame he begged not too go with her its her been abusing that baby he was affarid of her horrible excuse
Sounds line post partum psychosis plus a perfect storm Like someone STEP IN
Starvation is described as one of the most painful deaths! I can't imagine being scapegoated to death. Calling her bad and the sick bf and gramma adding to the abuse! Dcfs major changes this needs to blow up. People are becoming desensitized to these horrfic murders cause it happens so often!
This another fail on DCFS they were their the day she died and said she looked fine! Am i hearing this right?
I Absolutely HATE it when (after the fact) when family members say "if I knew this was goin on" or "i shudve reported..." Blah Blah Blah
It's called guilt, which is a normal human response...?
@SuffertheLittleChildrenPodcast Yes it's called guilt and yes it's a normal response but if a person had done what was right in the first place they wouldn't have to deal with the guilt of being a coward..
This is great telling these babies a voice but , the nursery ryme single is so creepy, it's unsettling for me
Oh yeah great excuse for your pathetic parenting, a normal mother does not forget their child period.
Poor little man, didn't stand a chance with parents like that ❤
I watched the podcast but there is a good thing…. The boy is in foster care the other girl with the grandparents another child with cat’s sister and jazmine with god all of them away from Jason and cat
Heartbreaking
If you put a child in the world to make them suffer then it’s better not to have a child

This has been one of the hardest to listen to. Laine I cant imagine being stuck in your head after these episodes. Just hearing them breaks my heart. I cannot imagine having to learn all that you do to make these. I've been listening to you sense day one and I will always listen to be more aware of what these kids go through and what to look out for. Laine make sure to take care of your mental anguish these monsters cause.. You are always in my thoughts even when I have to take a little break from hearing them. This one has made me feel violent. there is no way anything could stop me from giving the pound down to the monster and grama monster.. Thank you for giving these babies a voice!
Very well said! The worst part? What she relays to us are just the parts that TH-cam will even allow her to. Now imagine all she takes in that CAN'T be posted here...😢 Laine, @Desaree1's notion is 2nded, 3rd, 4thed, and 5thed over here! Please take care of yourself! Side note, @Desaree1, i too feel the rage I'd like to inflict on this crew of complete and utterly incompetent monsters. You need to take care of u too! (Aside from the breaks) I've just recently replaced my punching bag with a brand new one (and a speed bag cuz the sound makes me happy)😂
@@alexandreacoslett5909 Oh, don't you worry! I tell every detail like it is whether TH-cam likes it or not. It just means I make next to nothing posting the episodes on TH-cam (a lot of sponsors won't advertise on videos with certain words/topics), but I'm going to tell the truth of these kiddos' situations regardless!
@SuffertheLittleChildrenPodcast Well then, yet another reason your content is appreciated. Now, even more so imo. With that being said, all u corporate cowards with more than the means it would take to ACTUALLY begin making a change, stick THAT in your juice boxes and suck it! What I truly find the most repugnent, is they're so obsessed with the potential loss of their precious pockets being lined, they won't even sponsor a channel dedicated to being a voice for those who can no longer speak? See, from a business stance, I feel it would be in their best interest to collaborate and participate in being an additional advocate for them.. Grimey slugs lol
As you ABSOLUTLY should. I respect the hell outta this channel! Thank you for giveing the children and the family's a voice. It's rare to find a channel like this. And I'm fully diving in!!@@SuffertheLittleChildrenPodcast
The magistrates court order as proof right there that it is organized, serial murder And nobody can do anything about it or ever well, just the people that loved these children will have to suffer in silence
Oh absolutely Stephanie told Tammy to appeal because she was in joining the whole scenario. She definitely did not want it to end now she absolutely loved what she was putting his family through and Averylee
Guarantee that this is not the only family that Stephanie was doing this to or has ever done this to CPS workers are just full of basically serial killers but they don’t have to do it themselves. They get in no trouble for it they just get to enjoy and have a part of letting it go on. I’ll bet if you watched what stuff he does. Today she probably celebrates and some of these children’s deaths that she has had a part of and I’m sure that there’s quite a few. CPS workers and judges out there that do the same thing there’s more bruises involved like the palms of their hands from clapping as they have claimed another child victim. There’s no way in the world that people do not know that this is all done on purpose.

I’m only at the beginning of the story where she keeps abusing Jamie yeah no no that would’ve been the end of it. If I was Jamie‘s mom, I’m a Leo I have never even let my kids father raise a hand. They wouldn’t even dare raise there voice you have a problem with my kid you come to me I don’t care how old they are. I’ve told my daughter-in-law‘s and Son-in-law don’t ever put your hands on my kid. Yep that would’ve been the end of it right there one and done.
Why do these monsters take these children and don't want them????
And she's right!!! Absolutely there is no leaving until you physically see the child for yourself so whatever that child is they need to produce them immediately!
The starving, physical abuse, emotional abuse I think for children the hardest of it all is the isolation and feeling unwanted and if somehow it's their fault. All of it crushes my heart but I know the loneliness and isolation it's got to be the most painful for children. It's that feeling unloved and unwanted that just kills me. Lord come Jesus come!!
What a waste of breath every one of you who speak the same thing from every story I hear is falling on deaf ears. This has got to stop! I'm sick and tired of CPS getting away with murder.
How do we the people change laws federally. I've signed petitions, and still no change. Maybe a movement, not just one month of awareness!
Poor little pretty girl. So sad she was tortured her whole life. RIP.

Every single person put substances ahead of this baby.
I can’t understand how a mother can treat their child like this. 😢
Wow this is a weird and dark podcast for the algorithm to recommend to me. Do you ever do episodes about victims who survived?
It's definitely a dark subject; I can't argue with that, but it's so important to talk about these kids and what happened to them! I do occasionally talk about (and with) survivors, as well as covering broader topics from time to time (such as medical child abuse, the psychology of child abuse, and hot car deaths). Here are a few survivor-related episodes: Episode 176: Dead Dog Road (with author Diane Black) - th-cam.com/video/dCJD6cbuS4w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qviNLd0Fup6dLc11 Episode 167: Childhood Torture (with Ali Davis) - th-cam.com/video/jbDSU2dSoG4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N1-s38bbbcwhJf6c Episode 163: Underwater Daughter (with author Tuni Deignan) - th-cam.com/video/QltZJqzC6pA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tuGw4HfdO_sY_67x Episode 160: 936 Miles for Mercy (with Sara Moore) - th-cam.com/video/zSoNawIcFtM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XRRQkox0SsRsd84j Episode 159: Jessica and Alexia Reale - (one sister survived) - th-cam.com/video/ObsdXx2m1SU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YOIN5WnWO8rt9RZ3 Groomed to Die: The Kendzia Children (miniseries in which some children survived) - th-cam.com/play/PLTPxreYUQNmzchTM5u2ssq4JtXYdJu92B.html Episode 107: Girl Hidden (with author Jesse Rene Gibbs) - th-cam.com/video/SoPeWA4X8Kc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WnOGu2G4OZ8wR7pL Episode 34: The Ugliest Word (with author Annie Margis) - th-cam.com/video/4kxdiPjQk_c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hZDMlNH5BXe-lK7e
Beware it takes a toll, and when nothing ever changes, it makes it harder to listen. Laws really need to change, I would hope enough people could come together for real change!
I completely understand the system let this poor beautiful child down but please remember it starts with the parents!
@@cherylmclaverty2182 Of course - I’d never place all the blame on the system and absolve those responsible, namely Toni McClure, Ryan Smith, and Tammy Halsey!
From this case and many others, one could easily conclude that DCS is PRO-CHILD ABUSE.
You have to wonder, right?
Just for reference, my thin, but healthy 2 year old (just turned 2 this month) weighs 24lbs....
@@raeannaruby8306 It’s just horrible. This poor baby went from 35 to 21 pounds, small enough to fit in an infant-sized burial gown. My heart just breaks for Kinskeigh. Give your baby an extra squeeze today!
OH MY GOD, THIS IS DEPLORABLE THIS IS BY FAR the worst episode that I've listened to yet. I am hurting in my heart so deeply for this baby. My heart is literally broken.
