The tenderness and love you showed toward Benny and his well-being is remarkable. Your kindness and generosity is a beautiful example of what we should all strive for. You did the right thing every step of the way. You even took the time to show us! Thank you so much. I believe something spiritual was happening and that you have been blessed.
We love animals, and he probably felt that it was a rather safe place to land even with 4 dogs around. We were happy to save him and give him a better life ❤️ We wish that more people were kind to animals who can give us so much joy 😊 Maybe he was a messenger of brighter days ahead ❤️
Cockatiels are very friendly and social animals.. I had them for 20 years, most gentle beings. The fact that he came to your hand means he has been used to it, usually they dont if they are not used to it. Such a nice thing for you to help him
You can tell what kind of people you are by the way you interact with animals. Vivia Betti/Benni! Viva Ettore! and viva all people who treat animals kindly.
Thank you, it makes us feel better that people think too that we did a good think to give him away ❤️ We love animals, unfortunately there are so many different ones abandoned in Sicily 😔
People who are nice to animals are nice to people. Spero che il tuo morale sia alto rispetto a qualche video fa, ti auguro tutto il meglio, Saluti dal Belgio, Steven
I had budgies and a parrot like this one all my childhood. They always walk upwards ONTO your hand, not down because of the tail. They never like strokes over the back like on a dog or cat, but love scratches first next to the beak, then in the neck, preferably under the feathers. You can touch his beak too quickly with the forefinger, say 'dut' or something. Talk to him a lot with a loving voice. Use reach and withdraw. This one is so young and can easily be tamed. Let him fly around and only sit in the cage when alone or in the night. Possibly you can have him loose in the garden too. He must always have access to food, greens and different seeds like hemp seeds and water in a little glass bowl at all times. They can get depressed whtn kept in a cage too long and nobody speaks with them or lets him out. It is good to have sand in the bottom of the cage.
You did the right thing , I saved an African grey and had him for a year , I found out they lived in large groups and found a parrot sanctuary in the Uk , and as African greys are falling in numbers in the wild they had a breeding program . When I dropped him off I was heartbroken, I went back to the sanctuary a month later and he had a girlfriend and was acting as he should do as if he was in the wild . I think you are fantastic and you did save his life. Also African greys can live for 70 years and he would have out lived me.
It's so sad that animals get removed from their natural habitat and then, after a while, abandoned. Well done, you , for saving African grey! They are beautiful birds as well. But it's sad to imagine intelligent animals like this being caged. Happy to hear that he has a girlfriend now too 😃 Wow, 70 years! Sorry to hear that you had to let him go, but we know they live better lives now ❤️
Grandi siete👍🍀
I've gotten old and unfortunately had to make the decision to give away my sweet cat. I cried my eyes out that day, but it was the best thing I could do for her, even though it broke my heart. I can understand you so well, but in the end you did the right thing. I'm giving you a big hug.
We are so sorry to hear about your cat. It must have been very difficult. We easily get attached to animals, and they become part of the family. That's why we didn't want to keep him for longer before we became too attached. Thank you for a hug ❤️ We are giving you two from us 🫂
I live in India and I feel happy to see this. My amma offers food for crows which comes everyday to our home. But other birds too comes to have the food. - Venkat
Very touching story, well done with all your help, and you made the right choice to think of the birds needs first. Im sure he has lots of new avian friends now! Looking forward to your new adventures.
I love that you think of what is best for the bird, even though you miss him he will be happy ❤ What do people tend to do when they have lost or found a pet in Sicily? Is it difficult to reunite animals with their families? Do you have lost and found Facebook pages?
We posted in a few local Facebook groups, but nobody responded. There is a bit of problem with abandoning animals in Sicily. So it might be a case as well. It was sad to let him go, but he is in a better place with new friends ❤️
Hi guys, I have had cockateils for years. They are lovely birds. The bird you had was a tamed bird and must have somehow escaped its environment. So obviously, it belongs to somebody. They can live for 15 years or so if taken care of well. Looking at the bird, although I didn’t get a close-up, it may be a female. They are fine on their own and get attached to their owners. They like time out of their cage as long as there are no escape routes like doors or windows. If you had a nice bright room with a window and no air con it would have been fine as these birds should not be in any drafts or direct sunlight as they can get sick. So, if it was outside in the warm daylight and brought in a night, it would have been fine. I admire the effort you went to, very kind and loving. It was such a sweet bird. They can easily mimic songs and sounds from an early age if taught. Thanks for the video 😊 bird 🐦 🐦⬛ 😀 😘 ❤
@noramax2925 We posted in a couple of local groups and people shared our post. But nobody responded. Sometimes people just abandon pets here in Sicily 😔
What you did was wonderful, the cage was quite nice and suitable except for one thing--never use varigated strand board. The binders and glues used in the manufacturing of it are very toxic, it never stops off gassing contrary to manufacturers claims and it is a very good medium for mold to grow on.
You did good. You saved the bird and passed him on to a friend who can give him an even better life. I don't like to see birds in cages, but it was obvious Benny was used to people and accidentally escaped from somewhere. It says a lot about you, that you didn't hang on to him just for the sake of it, but tried to give him the best chance to a good life, with someone who is in the know about (caged) birds. You two rock !🦜🦜🦜🥰

It made us smile that "we rock" 😊 We are just trying to be farmers and survive bur nice to hear somebody apreciates us ❤️ It was very sad to let him go, but a new life is definitely much better for him. We were happy to save him and give a better life. Unfortunately, we couldn't find his previous owners, but he is in a good place now.
Awww. Bless you guys. My ex and I had a cockatiel back in the day and as cute as he was (his name was junior ha ha) he wasn’t a lot of fun because he was up every day at the crack of dawn chirping and sometimes in the middle of the night too. In the end junior was given away, no tears shed. I love animals but chirping when I’m sleeping? Yeah no. Benne is better off elsewhere guys, you went above and beyond
😆 You made us laugh! Sounds like Junior was rather naughty one. Our cockatiel was well educated. He would start making sounds only when I was waking up, actually, not while I was sleeping. And he was always quiet while my husband was asleep on a sofa in the same room. So he was rather well-behaved, not like Junior 🤣

Thanks for your video. It is also difficult for me to see caged birds so I agree with you. By the way, did you get some rain? How are your crops doing?
It's sad that these beautiful birds have to live in cages. It's a rather sad reality. We got one afternoon of the rain, but most of our crops are gone by now. We are starting autumn season. The next video will be about it. Thank you for asking ❤️
I accidentally found your TH-cam channel, and I am so glad I did. You guys are obviously loving and caring people. That Cockatiel couldn't have found a better or more loving home. Judging from the cockatiel's behavior, (he or she), seems to be fully tamed and used to being held by humans. Otherwise, it would have bitten you. These birds are very smart and can even learn to repeat words. All you have to do is to say the words you wish the bird to learn very slowly and at a prolonged pace. Bright and Abundant Blessings to you both and greetings from PUERTO RICO! I have a feeling that your Cockatiel is going to be a major STAR in your TH-cam channel.
