Thank you so much! We love our garden in wintertime! It's so nice and green 😍 Sicily becomes so beautiful after some rain 🌧 And we become happier 😆 I think next projects is a chicken coop and then we will see what we could do about the well. My husband is trying to gather some courage to give it a try ❤️
My sincerest sympathy to both of you. I hope you both are back to full health soon. Your previous dog was called Spike. So is our dog called! What a coincidence
That's life, but sometimes we wish there were fewer downs just for a while 😆 But we are trying to be real. We are happy that people appreciate honesty and like our crazy journey 😃
You both have had a long hot and dry summer. Sometimes the body says it’s time to slow down and rest. Your farm looks fantastic. The well sounds like a great idea. Merry Christmas to you both
That's why we love winter. It's a wonderful time to heal and spend more time relaxing at home. We love those cooler shorter days. We love our winter green farm! It's just so much more beautiful and watered by the rain. We hope we will have enough courage to try doing well ourselves 😆 Merry Christmas to you, and thank you for following our story 😊
We are getting better, but first, we will need to overcome some cold as well 😆 Lucky is much better and cheeky as always. Merry Christmas! Love from Sicily ❤️
Have you tried physical therapy… it worked for me… I had pain in my lower leg… I waited 4 months for it to improve. It Didn’t then I started going to physical therapy twice a week. It was amazing .. it took a few months of me doing the daily exercises to get 100% recovery. A year later… I have no daily pain… and I still do my exercises daily. You might want to check this out physical therapy if you haven’t yet. I hope you feel better soon. Take care katie
Thank you, Katie for your comment. I am happy to hear that you are pain-free. It can be really debilitating daily pain. I just started going to physio 3 weeks ago. A very slight improvement, still a long way to go. Hopefully, with daily exercise, I will heal as well ❤️
@ it does take time… make sure you do your exercises daily… even a few. I use a heating pad at night on my lower back… … you can put this on your hip.. (I have a waist band heating pad… I got it on amazon …) so if you like the heat this might help as well. Or they have those natural heating pad that you put in microwave. I also use a roll on pain relief… I live in the USA so it would be a different brand in Italy. I’m sure your therapist can recommend. I carry it with me … sometimes my hip or knees hurt and I put it on… and it numbs the pain. It took me 4 months of the therapy and then I continued my exercises… not necessarily daily but.. I now work out at a gym and swim. The pain in my lower leg and hip… not sciatica.. Started November 2023 and I finally went to physical therapy February 2024 to June 2024 and then the gym/swim at least 3-4 times a week. You could do this at home too… continue with the exercises they give you). Good luck 🍀 take care Katie … Also just An idea for a part time job… maybe instead of farming in the summer . … you could teach Italian online) Teach online: Become an online tutor at Preply preply.com/en/teach And there are other sites… you can look into. Or in your town you could teach tourists or expats? On Airbnb they have experiences… not sure how this works… but you and your husband could offer tours of your area or Airbnb ‘life on a farm’ experience.. in the USA people like to do things like that. Anyhow just some ideas?! Best wishes for a blessed and happy Christmas. My husband grew up in Argentina where the burocracy is a problem. You might try a little “gift” to help the papers to be processed. A bottle of whiskey, chocolates, or $$?? I also have hip pain, and my chiropractor recommends 20 min of heat, and 20 min of ice packs. You might ask your therapist if that would help. ❤❤❤
Merry Christmas, and thank you for your message. We have somebody who deals with all that paperwork. So we are dependent on him. He is the "lucky" one that has to deal with those people daily. I love using cold on my hip, and it definitely helps, but heat was not great for me so far. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a pain free new year ❤️
Did you try a heated pad or hot water bottle on the hip? I had this in my shoulder....every moment I was inactive I used it, even when the pain subsided. I feel it stimulated blood flow and subsequently healing the shoulder. It is 90% better after 6 months.
I am happy to hear that you found a way that helps with healing ❤️ I have tried using heat, but my body didn't like it, but cold helps me a lot. It's like a painkiller that removes the pain for 1 hour, at least. I hope you will heal 100% and be pain-free 🙏 ❤️ Let's hope for pain-free 2025 😉
Thank you for your recommendation! I have tried so many exercises myself, but now I am following only what PT is telling me to do. I have tried to heal myself, and it didn't work. I was actually doing much more trying to heal quicker. His exercises are minimal right now, and the process is very slow. I just need to have some patience ❤️
It is not good for your mental health to continue this way. It lloks like farm life in Sicily is not for you, normal jobs may be the healthier and happier route for you. TH-cam is not going to bridge the gap as you mentioned before. Good luck to you.
@MichaelDeMita-w7s Thank you for your suggestion. It's been tough, but it's not only farm life, its health, and family. All the little things are happening from everywhere. The problem is that normal jobs are difficult to find in Sicily. But we are always looking for something. Winter garden is great, and we love it. Summer Garden will have to be much smaller, and we might do tourist tours here. We would be happy if TH-cam would pay our bills. Otherwise, we are not big spenders.
I will check the TH-cam channel! Thank you for your suggestion. I heard many good things about both, but we grow mostly vegetables, so more likely that I would do vegan than carnivore (which I heard helps a lot too!)
I have been watching different channels of couples moving to sicily, I watched the last 3 of your videos, I have to say you come across complaining too much about many things, I might be wrong , but I perceive from your complainings that Sicily is not for you. I might br wrong Sicily is not for you, you probably you should mve somewhere else, somewhere where life suits your needs.
I mean, it all depends on so many factors. If you are retiring here, then it's a great place to do so, and have that "La Dolce Vita" lifestyle. But if you are a working age person who has to make a living, then it's another story. Make sure you are comparing similar stories. We are here mostly because of the family that we want to have nearby. We could show only good side of the things, but these 4 years had been really tough on us and we chose to show both sides of the things.
Get well soon
I wish you good health, God bless you
Thank you for your kind wishes 🙏
@ You are welcome 🙏
Never ever give up. Good times will come again!
Wishing all 3 of you speedy recoveries..... Your gardens looks MAGNIFICENT! Imagine, that....a well.

Thank you 😊 We are getting better ❤️ Spike is such a beautiful name for a dog. Lucky you to have Spike in your life 🐕 ❤️
Thank you for sharing your story with all of us - the 'bad' (frustrations, set backs, sadness, overwhelming stuff) as well as the 'good'.
