I've had an idea and ran numbers before - it is not cost efficient as an investment - but it could supplement or produce water even in arid environments. Solar power and dehumidifiers. But then you are farming the water! There is always moisture in the air, but it doesn't always come down as rain. Combined with water preservation, like covering the beds and partially shading some of the plants from the intensity, you can keep the water in the soil longer.
Exactly! I admire their tenacity. But they farm like they are living in Ireland that it rains 320 days per year and have an endless supply of waters.. they leave the plants 🌱 growing directly in the bare soil. As if within 20 mins the water won’t be burned off into the atmosphere…. Those 5 Italian cypress will be dead if left like that without ground covering with 3 weeks and will be turning brown branch by branch every few days left like that … I know the same thing happened to me when I planted 15 of them directly into the ground with no rocks covering the dry arid soil. They were all dead within the month even after watering them every day. Have to cover them with small light colored rocks to prevent the water from burning off if they are to live.. They will soon see …they don’t seem to understand.
Wonderful news - it rained !! and you have another form of water system. So pleased for you. The planting looks amazing, so neat, so well maintained. So much hard work, I don't know how you do it in such hot hot weather. So happy to see your smiles. Welcome to Autumn. xx
@whereseagullsfly8250 It seems it will be more rain coming! It seems like an early autumn which is a bit unusual but we are more than happy with it! Thank you! We always try to keep things neat and tidy as much as we can. It will look even better after we finish planting, and we will have some time for maintenance 😉 It's been tough this summer and garden looked sad. But our autumn garden is always amazing! We are so excited 😊 And 3 hours that was spent watering can be spend on maintenence too. 💪 Welcome autumn 😃
I just wanted to drop by to tell you I just like you so much! I have discovered your channel recently and enjoy so much your daily ups and downs in my beloved Sicilian land. You are lovely and you can tell you have got so much love for each other and for the creatures around you. Please stay resistant to life vicicitutes, never change ❤.. greetings from rainy Cracovia!
Aww... You are so sweet ♥ Thank you for all of the wonderful praise ☺ It's nice to know that somebody likes what we do and enjoys our simple live. We are trying to resist as much as we can. Warm wishes from Sicily ♥
@@Gigiskin Thank you so much for your support and we hope that you will enjoy our channel 💓 We are really happy with some rain and lower temperatures ☺ xxx
Finally came the water !!! Happiness is be a nice couple, which stands beside each oter, in as well good and not so good times. We do the same here. In Denmark the average temperatures during the summer is normally about 20 degrees C. We have not been visiting our house in Sicily for a very long time, but plan to go there next autumn, NOT next summer! - WE wish you both and the dog all the best. Valentina and Niels ♥
Simple things make us happy 😊 You don't need much in life, but a strong person by the side is something that everyone should have. It's a good choice that you are not coming here during summer, it's been hot but that is usual, the thing is that it was so humid. Autumn is definitely more enjoyable 😉 Thank you - Valentina and Niels 😃
I remember suggesting you to connect your water cistern (the one you refill with the water you buy) to the dripping system a few weeks ago. Glad the suggestion worked. In the same comment there was also a suggestion to harvest rainwater from your roof to refill your cistern during winter (and possibly get a larger cistern if the current one is not large enough, and/or to separate domestic and agricultural water). Hope you can implement this too. Funny how it took confirmation that water from the lake (supplied by the government) was no longer an option for you to take action. A good example of how subsidizing often kills initiative.
@3r4kl3s We believed it was not possible because somebody said our engine is not powerful enough. But luckily now we have it! Thank you for your suggestion too! We will see what we can do with rain water collection in the future.
Guys were in the same province but we've not had much rain here, glad you finally sorted the water out!! If you were nearer I'd be visiting often for your fresh produce. 😊🤗
@anne4083 We were lucky to get some, but in town next to us, there was no rain. But hopefully, in the next few days, we will all get some more. Awww, so nice of you ❤️
A wonderful video. The more rain, the better for you. Do you not put egg in your batter. I always think it is better. What a beautiful dog. Keep smiling it will get better. Take care 😊
Thank you, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed it 😀 We still cannot believe that this early autumn is here! I put eggs in my batter when I don't put cheese inside. But sometimes it depends on my mood 😆 We are hoping for some brighter days ahead. 💪 Thank you for your support!
Hi there, tanti saluti, I know that feeling , waiting for a fruit to be ready, I just tasted my first fig of a great hardy variety, a dark french ,called Ronde de Bordeaux, I started it from a cutting last year and produced few figs already, two ripened, hope the rest make it before frost, it has amazing flavors, over there it would grow really well.... place look great !
@@Nicola050459 So nice to see some fruits on the trees, especially when you started from the cutting! Let's hope you will get to enjoy the rest of the fruit. We have a couple of fig trees. But our large one didn't produce due to drought even if we used to pick boxes of fruit from that tree previously.
It’s autumn, you lovebirds, you’ve made it through summer, yay!!! So happy for the animals too!😅👏❤️🍁❤️🐕
We survived! Yeah!!!! We are all enjoying a bit of cooler days 😎 🐕 🐶 🍫 🫕

Can you drill a well ?
Could you put more mulch on the beds to minimize evaporation?🌻
In autumn, we don't mulch much, as it might get too wet with the rain. As long as the sun is not hot anymore, it doesn't dry up so quickly.
Would you use the pomegranate in a salad?
@@mbrylewski Yes, absolutely! 😉
🙏🏼💚🕊️♥️
Did you ever think about diverting the drain in the shower to water trees?
We did it but couple of trees actually died. And we use mostly homemade soap.
Is this Lady of East european origin maybe ? Hoping more rainfalls will come next
dig a deep hole in the ground and you will find water. WATER IS ever where. your officials dont want tell you
You mean the grammar in the caption? 😜
Per il cane gli devi bagnare la pancia
Now you potencially created another problem, because domestic water is way more expensive than the agricultural water.
That's what we have been using all summer to water our garden. We use water delivered by truck for our household.
