Those black GS's are stunning!! Had a look at one a week ago.. Really beautiful. Nothing wrong with a 800, I would say it's better off-road than the 1200 (although many people will argue with that comment). I must admit, I do enjoy the adventure bikes more than I used to enjoy my super bikes. I get to see more places, meet more people and truly have adventures...I do miss that adrenaline rush every now and then (power wise), but in general..BM's are awesome bikes! Congrats & enjoy your new bike!

My last bike before my first BMW was a Hayabusa. So yes, compared to a BB it does feel as if it doesn't have enough power and you do miss that rush every now and then - boredom comes to mind every once in a while. But actually it does have more than enough for what it's made for. You just need to make mindset transition from superbike to Adventure. The BMW is way more comfortable and Adventurous. The BMW is much more versatile as well.. way more fun!

@moulin6801 Hi. I will try to give my overall impression. Some might agree/disagree. Handling - Extremely well, with the right tires it can do twisties as good as any bike! I am a bit short for the bike to be honest, so I don't always have the confidence off road, but so far I am impressed with what the bike can do off-road. Suspension is absolutely FANTASTIC! Power, definitely get a 2010 or newer, with the new engine and exhaust flap - much more responsive than the previous one!

So, gives us some feedback about your riding, bikes handling, good and bad about the bike, etc.
I am thinking about getting one.
    Cheers.

@moulin6801 You can't really appreciate the bike until you have your own and been on a trip or two. A quick test ride doesn't justify the bikes capabilities! The size is a bit intimidating if you are relatively short, but that goes away after a few good off-road trips. Other than than I can almost guarantee you, you won't regret owning a GS! Hope this helps... (gearbox, engine, brakes are excellent!)

I've met more people, been to more places and done much longer trips on the BMW that I ever would on a BB or Hayabusa. Trips of 4500km in 11 days etc..(offroad & road) Nothing is more fun, challenging and exciting! But it's totally up to your personal preference. Personally, I think once should own about 6 difference bikes (or more)...hehe Have you seen the new Honda crosstourer? Not that I would swop my BMW for one.

I'm really digging this bike and test rode it (short rides) twice. It's a really great ride but I'm wondering if I would miss the power of my Blackbird (current daily rider which I modified for long distance touring duties with higher bars, luggage racks etc). When I rode it I felt a lack of power but I do think I kept the revs too low for this particular bike. I'm used to the power of the BB. Do you feel it lacks power? Most of my rides include a passenger too.

Oh, I also noticed crazy wind buffeting with the windscreen at the highest setting (I'm 1.90m/6'3"). Do you get any buffeting? I didn't test the lowest setting so I'm not sure if that would be a problem for me..

@moulin6801 To get back to the power, this model is almost exciting to ride. Open it up to quick and the front wheel will come up without any effort. Look it's a heavy, but capable bike. I have ridden lot's of bikes and I will choose the GS above any I have ever owned. If my girlfriend was tall enough she would've loved to get one. It's her favorite so far. Ride is also very comfortable. Overall maintenance and services are very well priced compared to other bikes I've owned.

Hi, I just bought one GSA similar to yours and can you help me find the engine number location on our bike, if you please.

Know your answer is from a while back..But I'm looking for an enduro bike like the beemer or tiger 800xc, now I'm riding a ZX12R and like you I think I will miss the extra power I have. Have not riden the beemer and triumph yet, but it's just a feeling. For my height the beemer would be the best bike I think, even I have to climb on it.

Uahoooo 56 km. I have a DOHC of 2011 TRIPLE BLACK. The engine is superior to the others 2008 2009. The sound and the way to give POWER IS BETTER. MY has 75000km but is like new. For me is better of LC version like GENERAL QUALITY. My official BMW DEALER said to me that in BERLIN they stopped production for too high cost of air/oil version instead the LC version
