I think the most interesting aspect is how drop dead gorgeous this game is. It’s a post apocalyptic, sand covered rust filled landscape and yet…it’s completely stunning, every single screenshot I’ve taken in this game is wallpaper worthy.

2015 was such a great year not only for games. But we gotten one of the greatest action films of all time. Definitely one of the GOATS. And then later in that same year, we get this incredible Mad Max game that really should be looked at more these days because it was overlooked. I think its because it suffered the same way like how the situation with Days Gone went through, but instantly became a cult classic of sorts as the years went on.
Days gone is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.... Not in the same way a game like witcher 3 is a masterpiece but it has amazing gameplay and story.. Production values are high. I didnt buy it because of reviews but then played for free on PlayStation plus.. I bought a copy after that and played it 4 times so far
Just bought the game. I met some thirsty wretches in the desert, wanted to give them some water. As soon as the first drop touched the guy's lips, two cars (one of them packed with explosives) came outa nowhere and decided to ram into us head on. The cars ran over the wretches and both exploded, also killing the drivers. I was completely unscathed, surrounded by 5 corpses and 2 blazing wrecks. Whole thing lasted about 3 seconds. That was THE MOST Mad Max thing I have ever seen in my life.
Had a few of these moments, once 4 cars 4 cars bullied me for like half an hour, just not letting me get back in the car, until 2 of them rammed into each other and saved me at the last moment. Another time I shot one out of 3 cars coming at me with a thunderstick, while it exploded the other 2 droves pass me, flipped over on god knows what and exploded immediately
I remember having an absolute blast just driving around the wasteland. It was a beautiful game when it came out and the combat (mainly the vehicles) were great. overall a rock solid 9/10 game imo
I just downloaded this game last night on PS4 for 5 bucks (US Dollars). Heard a lot of good things about it over the years and felt it was about time I gave it a go. Edit: Update- 4 days in and I love it.
I never had interest in this or knew much about it but got it in a recent humble bundle and gave it a go, same thing I'm loving it! Besides looking and feeling great to play, it has just enough mechanics/open worldness/collectathon to keep me engaged w/o being too little to do nor be too overwhelming IMO.
YEah, this game is a no brainer. It is hella fun and there's enough content to keep you busy for 60 hours or so if you take over all the bases and enemy encampments, take down the caravans, complete the races, upgrade your camps, and do all the side missions and story missions. There's quite a lot here and the graphics hold up really well.
Solid game mechanics that was surprisingly deep but the environment repetitiveness was a big drawback and while a lot of the mechanics were deep, they weren’t really revolutionary. The car combat was a great highlight as well. Great video keep it going bro!
Yeah I can definitely see the loot grind turning people off, I did have a moment or two where I questioned how much scrap do I actually need but outside of that I still had a blast :D
@@JacksGameReviews me too. I think a mechanic like building a settlement or some kind of late/endgame that changed fundamental elements of the game in a noticeable way would set it apart. For example, you begin with car combat being a solo experience, but by late game if the player sets up an encampment, they can call for back up where now it’s team car combat on a larger scale than solo car combat from the early game. GG tho bad timing buried it unfortunately
I just had my first attack on an escort and holy crap! It took a total of about 20 minutes and had my heart racing the entire time. This game is just so much fun to play and as I progress I keep discovering more and more to love.
bought the game like 4 years ago. But only played a few hours and hardly levelled up. Found it a bit hard so gave up on it. But after seeing Furiousa last sunday i decided to play it again, as soon as soon as i got home from the movie. The by this morning i had levelled my character up completely. And then finished the main story. Then went and saw Furiousa again 2 hours later. Added a new dimension to the game after seeing the movie and some of the characters that were in the movie.
I just purchased Mad Max for $20 after selling Red Dead Redemption 2 for $20. I enjoyed the graphical and narrative depth of RDR2 but I just couldn't commit the massive amounts of time required to complete the often times very mundane objectives and gameplay. I liked it, I liked it a lot actually, but I wasn't having fun playing it. RDR2 felt tedious more than it felt fun. Mad Max was a game I wanted since it came out 8 years ago. I finally decided to purchase it and holy crap am I an idiot for not buying it sooner. This game is a masterpiece! Right from the opening title sequence it feels like a Mad Max film and the amount of depth that unfolds (it takes 3-4 hours to really start unlocking) is staggering in light of the type of game this is. If you combined Arkham Knight with Rage 2 and Just Cause and added a healthy dose of Grand Theft Auto 5, you'd have Mad Max. It's criminal this game undersold as much as it did for I'd place it in my top 10 favorite PS4 games without hesitation. It's that darn good!
Just done my second playthrough of this game yesterday and finally got all achievements. Last 2 where "The Messenger" and "Up to the Task", didn't get them during my first playthrough in 2023 due to getting increasingly frustrated at one death run that required a perfect run (car kept getting thrown into the air when it came into contact with a barrel). All in all, this game as a good experience. Didn't bother clearing the entire map of scrap for my second go around, I was happy just 100% the achievements.
Very nice review, appreciate pointing out the shortcomings of the game while still maintaining it being worth it. I love this game. The world is as you would expect if you've seen the movies, which was really surprising to me how well it felt like "Mad Max". Experimenting with Car load-outs and modifying it to meet the needs for certain objectives was really fun. Taking down a powerful convoy is a blast. I absolutely agree on the hand to hand combat: it just feels right and appropriate for the post apocalypse. I first played it on Game Pass in 2018 and bought it after it left the service. It's usually below 10€ these days (currently 6,99 on the Xbox Store).
Why can't more games be like Mad Max - fun right off the bat? It shouldn't take 10+ hours of gameplay for a game to 'turn interesting'. With Mad Max, you have most of the fun skills present at the very first moment you hold the controller, and juat gets better and better.
Bought it just last week and almost 100 percented it, never really watched the movies other than seeing parts cos my dad watches it he was the 1 that told me about the game months ago but I wasn't really interested, after seeing it was 3 quid I thought why not. Super underrated, super addictive, great game overall.
Probably the most underrated game in gaming single player wise. Absolute travesty that it only got the recognition so late on that we may never get a continuation.
I love this game. I played it a lot and was the only person to play it after IGN scored it really well. Probably because of BO3, Witcher 3, and Fallout 4 that year. Near and at the end of the story two things happened that made me scream in agony and I couldn't believe it, no other game ever did that and I will always remember Mad Max as one of my top games, it really left its imprint on me, and why Mad Max is...well, MAD.
The biggest issue this game had was that it was released on the same day MGSV came out. I bought this one first, and never felt bad about it since i played it last year again because of xbox's great fps boost feature which makes the game run at 60fps.
Honestly I thought the story was actually quite subtly told and eased you into it so much that you don't quite realize the actual development and realization Max actually goes through and has I urge people who have the game to just kinda look at Max when he starts opposed to the end of the game especially in the final stages so to speak
I was pleasantly surprised by how good this game is, but it does get a bit monotonous after a while. Still, I had fun for about 40 hours. The ending of the story was disappointing and silly, but the gameplay was enjoyable overall. Sadly, there's not much to do once you finish the main and side missions, and you clear all the enemies from the map. So you might as well delete it from your hard drive then. But I liked the combat and the vehicle combat. I wish there was more content to keep playing after the story. I think it's worth buying and playing. Just a heads up: it's hard to get 100% because of some glitches in the game, but they don't ruin the experience. I tried both the GOG and the Steam versions, hoping they would fix that, but they are the same.
YEah, it's a pity that the game wasn't more successful, I would like to have some end game content and some DLCs. Oh well, had a lot of fun playing the game though.
@@gametime2473 It is definitely fun, especially the vehicle combat. However, after you finish all the side missions, there's nothing left to replay, and it becomes completely dead. I also hated the story, it just didn't work for me, neither as a character's development nor as a compelling narrative. But perhaps it's just my personal opinion.
I bought this game a few months ago on a recommendation, I only started playing it a few days ago and its an absolute hidden gem! What a game, your review sums it up perfectly. All the reviews iv seen/watched there just isnt a bad one, because its a damn good game!
Everybody knows that Mad Max was not going to compete against The Witcher 3 and MGS 5. But that's perfectly fine because for the people who slept on Mad Max ( me included ) now got the opportunity to play a hidden gem.Way beyond after the hype for games died down. I'm so glad I spent $5 on the Microsoft store a couple months ago to own the game flatout.
I have been playing Max since it came out.....i try other games but always gravitate back to Max.....Now heres what i found out when playing.....when a storm hits you can sometimes make it out into the big nothing.....Yes the big nothing does exist and its X 10 bigger than the map....this brings home how big the game was going to be but somehow it was curtailed??? Get to the edge of the map and drive straight outwards...if your health remains constant then you have made it.....keep driving until the sky turns blue......Next.....drive up a steep incline and boost off into the air.....press R3/L3 and watch the frame freeze...then you control a remote camera to push through the 3D freeze frame.....MEGA!
Bought this game probably in 2021, managed full completion (excluding anything online as servers were taken down) and I must say its one of my favorite games I've played.
Honestly i think what did it well. Was the sponsor. The only reason why i even got the game was because a youtuber i watched made a first sponsored video but because he also liked it he continued it till the end.
It's been like 3 bucks for the longest time on keyshops thats the driving factor while I bought it awhile back. But seriously people should be experimenting with triple monitor gaming these days it's just mind blowing experience. For example, "Triple Screen Linux Gaming | Mad Max" shows a webcam of guy on that setup and its so immersive.
i love the game. one of the very few games i’ve finished AND repeatedly replayed. something about being in fury mode and killing the last guy with a suplex is super satisfying.
I honestly stopped watching after he said “the story is really really bad”. As a huge fan of the series having watched every film ,including the most recent furiosa spin off flick, I thought the story in the game was amazing and it perfectly fit with the theme of the movies. My only serious complaint about the game was the repetitive side quests but other than that the game was amazing honestly. The gameplay, story, characters, combat, and even the graphics all are amazing. I just would have liked some story type of side quests like they did in the witcher n not the annoying ones of finding the mines with the dog and stuff like that. I truly wish this game got the opportunity it deserved and the ratings it deserved too
The story just didn’t click with me lad, I know the films aren’t super story heavy, more lore heavy but I still saw it as a downside to a general audience but that’s just me
I only bought the game last year. Like many, gave it a miss when it came out but knew it weren't a bad game. Got playing & i thoroughly enjoyed it but my ONE GRIPE. I got to this one particular stronghold (i think its the one that has the v8 engine you need to progress) & i cleared all the bad guys but there's this one door that should open but it doesn't & i'm eternally stuck just ss i've completed 75% of the game. Now, i looked up on youtube & realised this wasn't just my experience only & many had experienced this glitch & there are ways around it but for me none of them worked & eventually fell off from the game knowing it was a pretty decent romp & i was almost there, collect the V8 engine do a few more bits then go for the bad guy, shame.☹️
I saw the trailer and i remember wanting to play it. Years later (2023) I picked it up for 6 pound, absolute bargain. Completed the story and still addicted. Very underrated.
MadMax is a great game that came out at a bad time, or rather . (at the best moment of the video games industry, in my opinion 2015/16). Those who complain about the main story don't understand anything. ppl doesn't come looking for a nice story in MM. you want: wasteland, cars and action. and that... the game provides it in an impeccable way. ty, great video. completely agree with you
My favourite post apoc game. You should buy this in '23, '24, '25, etc. Maybe they will make a new game when the Furiosa moving comes out in May '24. This game needs a xpac or sequel.
Agree 100%- if more people talked about this game with flawless accuracy like you did, we may have another one already. One thing people don’t mention is where the style and perspective of it land inside the franchise, the canon. And it sits perfectly, has the pace of road warrior while using the best of fury road. (And basically homie from 300.) That aspect shows an intelligence that makes up for lack of story. Mad Max 2. Bring it.
I've just started Mad Max I'm a fan of the films so it's always been a game I've meant to get I got it offered by Xbox Black Friday deal for £2.95 so I bought I wasn't that impressed until I just started to just explore on my own and now I'm hooked there's just so much to see and do in this game it's well worth getting
I have been playing Mad Max for the past several days. I haven't finished it, but so far, it's a pretty good action game. Yea, there isn't a deep story but Eldenring got game of the year and what's the story there? One gameplay staple the player needs to embrace to really enjoy the game is car combat. The ride you build is really a major star of the game. A lot is focused on driving your car, racing it, fighting with it, building it up.
I remember when I tried playing the game back when it came out, saint. Back then, I thought it's going to be one of those movie crap games, saint. Spend an entire weekend non stop playing it, saint. The sky, the cars, the explosions, the holy V8 engine singing, saint. And oh, imagine my face when the first storm hit me, saint.
I quit the video when my bro said that Mad Max's story is bad 😂 laughable! The game is amazing. The repetitiveness is because you are in a desolate world. The game has a good story and characters that you care about. The ending is breathtaking and sad. Also, the Devs did an amazing job with the lore about that world. Every sidequest you do tells you a little bit more about that world and the people that used to live there. Enjoy the game, everyone ❤️
Yeah no kidding. I really hope he doesn't play Rage 2 (same developer and used a ton of MM mechanics) with that attitude. Now that is a game with zero story.
i might consider it bc its on sale on steam atm but would of preferred more gunplay but i understand they focused on melee instead trying to do too much. and yeh i am a story guy.
Just got it for 5 bucks on PC Had it on PS4 One of the best movie to video game I’ve played. Had to handicap myself from over leveling my character tho. Being the road warrior is lonely when everyone is no longer challenging you on the road lol
Mad Max is just one of many games that prove the "reviewers" don't know jack s**t. You're hammering on the story but we're talking about Mad Max here. The story is Mad Max has a car and loses his car. You kill everything between you and the parts you need to rebuild the car in a harsh and unforgiving world. You make deals with undesirables and save a few innocents along your way to getting your car parts. No one who is a Mad Max fan would want anything more because this is Mad Max. This isn't Lord Of The Rings it's freakin' MAD MAX.
The story is in history of the environment and you can kinda fill in the gaps with the historical items. Not the best way to tell a story but it’s there. The gameplay is the bees knees tho
I actually started playing it again and its still a really fun game. I make my own story but its a nice loop, and it can be repetetive. Still love it though for the combat and driving nonsense.
This great game is fast achieving cult status. The story is minimal but it’s full of black humour and the gameplay is stunning. I’ve played it through five times now. It’s properly addictive. Plus aren’t most games repetitive by nature? The compulsory helicopter trip to every mission in MGS5 just got tedious.
I think the 'shallow and insignificant' story of the Mad Max game and Fury Road is justified and gives Mad Max its defining taste. Personally, throughout the Fury Road film, I felt that the world is so barren, so brutal and broken that its only natural that stories can't get any deeper than a almost dead world. Mad Max doesn't need a story as deep as TLOU and such, its perfect the way it is and what it does best. Mad Adrenaline Pumping Action. "Reduced to one instinct. Survive".
@@JacksGameReviews There is an exploit I use in Jeet's territory, have scrap automatically be picked up, beeline to the thunderpoon upgrade, and base ammo restocking, drive around in a circle thunderpooning a respawning scrapulance, listen to a podcast during, to reduce the brain rot part. Or have all the boring stuff done with as much upgrades as possible, and just reload that save after you beat the game.
I’m replaying this in 2024. I wish they’d make another one just with a better story. I mean at times it gets repetitive but the game is just so damn good it doesn’t matter 😂😂😂 Edit: I literally typed that last part right before you said it
I pre-ordered bed max on a website that used to be pretty cool called Listia. Even though my girlfriend was jewish, she love this game. She thought she rode and became a huge midnights fan. Except for the first mad max movie it wasn’t very very well done. Road warrior is when MadMax got major traction. I am a huge Mount Gibson fan, even though he said some racist and antisemitic statements while he was drunk. I don’t believe that’s how he really feels and neither does anybody else who is a former alcoholic. People say stuff I don’t mean when they’re black out drunk. Anyway, I’ve been in the entire game about four times on my fifth right now. It’s my favorite game that I take out every couple years and play. If you’re a fan of the movies, any of them, you will love the game.
The game can be very fun for sure but what killed this for me is the copy-pasted open world activities, it also includes how the side quests are designed. Repetitive and dull open world. Too much grinding for scraps. Also the hand-to-hand combat is a weaker and simpler version of Rocksteady's Arkham games. The art direction, presentation and vehicle combat is really really good but I'm bored after 10 hours playing this because of the repetitive nature of it and the story is not even good. Cutscenes direction is also terrible. It severely needs a sequel to iron out its blemishes
I play it in ps4 i think cost 60$ in 2015 and now its only cost 7$ for xbox and i bought it its really good game u spend hours and days just going from camp to camp collecting all cars defeating all enemies its worth it and the story for me its good he lost everything and he look for v8 engine 😂 and gas ⛽

Get to the edge of the map and drive straight outwards...if your health remains constant then you have made it.....keep driving until the sky turns blue......Next.....drive up a steep incline and boost off into the air.....press R3/L3 and watch the frame freeze...then you control a remote camera to push through the 3D freeze frame.....MEGA!
great video! im excited to try this out then! have a good day!
I bought the game for my backlog a few years ago because it was on sale for $3. When I finally got to it, I was surprised at how good it was.
Bought this game probably in 2021, managed full completion (excluding anything online as servers were taken down) and I must say its one of my favorite games I've played.
Just bought this for 2 quid, hiw have i not played this before i do not know.
You definitely should have at least mentioned the server shutdown.
i love the game. one of the very few games i’ve finished AND repeatedly replayed. something about being in fury mode and killing the last guy with a suplex is super satisfying.
Absolutely. And we need to tell wb to make a sequel
Ugh I’ve been playing it on PS5 not knowing that it was gonna be 30FPS. Pretty fun game though
Right wish they'll make a updated version for the Ps5 like they did Witcher 3 and a couple other games
I saw the trailer and i remember wanting to play it. Years later (2023) I picked it up for 6 pound, absolute bargain. Completed the story and still addicted. Very underrated.
I bought it last month for just £4 and have been having a blast with it. I'm a huge fan of the films and I have no idea how this game passed me by.
This game needs a xpac or sequel.
i was wondering if i should buy this game.. the steam page show only cutscene screen shots, but your video sold me the game.. looks awsome
One of my all time favorite games. Easily Top 10 all time for me.
There is story in elden ring lol. Just because you're brick for brain doesn't mean From Software doesn't make some of the best stories out there.
Just bought it for $5 on the xbox store. I'm enjoying it so far
Played in 2020, loved it, replayed in 2022, still loved it. Would play and love again
Bro might be chumbucket
Loved this game so much, you've reminded me to re-install it and 100% it on Steam
If you haven’t played mad max you need too but after you clear the map and the story just nun to do after that
I quit the video when my bro said that Mad Max's story is bad 😂 laughable!
This game is $4.99 on game pass in early December 2023. I’m staring it now.
Just got it for 5 bucks on PC
Had it on PS4
One of the best movie to video game I’ve played.
Had to handicap myself from over leveling my character tho.
Being the road warrior is lonely when everyone is no longer challenging you on the road lol
What's the fps on the PS5?
The game ain't perfect...but it's a helluva lot of fun.
If this didn’t get such a quick price reduction I wouldn’t of played it near launch and actually put MGS5 down for it.
Great review, i just started getting into this game and i bought it in 2015 and I'm loving it.
I love. MAD MAx I wish they make the the mad max 2
I can't believe how well this game holds up in 2024. Playing it for the first time and really enjoying it. Careful though, it's a time suck!!! 😅
It's been on my backlog for months but almost done with it. I'd say it's worth it.
Crazy to see this game getting the love it deserved after EIGHT YEARS. Maybe now I'll get another good Mad Max game by Avalanche that isn't Rage 2.
I actually really like the story it’s like a late 80 90s fever dream
I liked this game on PC. I LOVE this game on Steam Deck. Runs perfectly and is portable.
Yes! Hughly recommended that you buy and play this game in 2023. Why? It's on sale on Steam right now. The gameplay is lit and awesome.
Didn't online stuff closed in 2020 or something?Fitgirl's repack is only 3gb
This game and sleeping dogs are heartbreakingly underrated and under appreciated. Wish they sold more
The story is in history of the environment and you can kinda fill in the gaps with the historical items. Not the best way to tell a story but it’s there. The gameplay is the bees knees tho
I actually started playing it again and its still a really fun game. I make my own story but its a nice loop, and it can be repetetive. Still love it though for the combat and driving nonsense.
The game is really enjoyable, I loved it when it first came out and just started playing it again.
*just got the Platinum trophy for this game.*
*WITNESS ME BROTHERS, FOR I AM AWAITED IN VALHALLA!!!*
How did you do it? 'cause I've read in some forums that it's impossible to getting the platinum trophy because of closed servers
@@adriansanchezortega3044 *I managed to get up to the task before the sever closure.*
Witnessed!
Any chance of doing full walkthrough video
Survive".
It's a shame whats happened to avalanche studios
Mad Max was my first game on the PS4
There is a story...itz not the empahsis but to say there's no story is BS.... Great game!!
Perfect timing was just thinking of getting this 😊
i love this game..finished it twice and wont a third the scrap is tedious but i still load it once in awhile to drive around in my deathmobile
Yeah the scrap ESPECIALLY on a third play through might rot your brain lmao, may not be the most replayable game but man it’s fun the first time round
I been streaming it with very good input
I’m replaying this in 2024. I wish they’d make another one just with a better story. I mean at times it gets repetitive but the game is just so damn good it doesn’t matter 😂😂😂
Edit: I literally typed that last part right before you said it
Does anyone own this on steam and does it crash to desktop on splash screen? Windows 10, 2024
Bought it last night, and I'm loving it!
Great hand to hand and car combat but Open World and story are pretty lacking I can see why it got the scores it did.
Getting good feedback from this game
Most games are repetitive and that is not always bad. I will buy iy because I love open -world games.
I bought it. And the controls absolutely suck.
2015 was great for games. Arkham knight, MGS5, mad max, witcher 3...
It's very fun. But you can't get the platinum trophy for the game anymore. Since the servers shut down
Just got the game for $5. Damn good deal. Games amazing and will outlast time
I love this game. Bought it in 2023 to play it all over again.
