In fact, I'm not 100% sure about this but I think that thay started developing the game before the movie was even announced.. well, there are some references to the events of the movie *but* this game has its own story.
And the game was made by the people behind the Just Cause games. Of course they're good ports, hehe.

MrPobanz It doesn't necessarily use stuff from Fury Road. But rather, from all the Mad Max movies combined. You won't see Immortan Joe in this game. You won't see Furiosa. What, you're saying the cars look the same as in the last movie? ALL the cars in the Mad Max universe are frankenstein'd scrapyard hotrods, they have to look like that.
Alaska1925 The cars in Fury Road have a kinda destinctive look, like the beetle i mentioned, also the characters from Fury Road look much different from the movies before and exactly like them in the game.

Saying something is "weird" is quite the opinion really. Only idiots make up opinions out of thin air and base them on literally nothing, you get that a lot I assume. Back it up with some arguments as to why you consider first person that way or are you incapable of doing so? Tons of first person games, hell the most successful genre in gaming proves you wrong, so what is your point exactly?

Two protips for those feeling the scrap-collecting is too grindy and too slow:
1. Get those Projects going in the variosu strongholds ASAP, so that you can start accumulating scrap on a regular basis from early on.
2. When you come across those pick up trucks with a huge bag of scrap on the back, hijack them and bring them back to the stronghold. Those cars give you 500 scrap each, just for driving them back.

It's the sound effects, the visual effects, the screenshake and the micropauses that make the punches so satisfying.
Also the animation is great and you actually see the punches connect with enemies spewing blood out of their nose when you break it.
The game is one of these new age watered down quest things and not a real sandbox but I loved just driving around and getting into fights - it was so satisfying.
Incredible game. If there were motorbikes, monster trucks (Just more vehicle variety), slightly more in depth (and repeatable) convoys, and maybe a few more combat commands like throwing enemies etc. This game would be unstoppable. I'm praying for a Mad Max 2.

What I will say is that I have thumbed down many games you can buy on GMG and will continue to do that if they suck. I stand by my integrity and that is that really.

Other wise as someone who owns the game, I can't fault your review. It's Far cry's world with Arkham combat. You gave it a fair review and if I didn't already own it, I'd be happy to purchase it through your link because you have proven to be honest about stuff and when questioned you will respond to it and not just go "trolls r all fags! played for 20 hours so far, on and off of my job so it made me angry in the first few hours but after that I found it enjoyable enough to not hate myself for paying 60 bucks for it, it's a good game that should be 40 bucks new but if you have nothing else to play it's a alright buy,

Just got this for free on PSN and I'm absolutely loving it, found it quite difficult at first but now I've improved my skills its become a really addictive open world game.
You didn't like ROAD WARRIOR??? Really??? Well... You might not like FURY ROAD then it is basically a modern day better version of ROAD WARRIOR.... Btw i fucking LOVE THIS GAME! So underrated and overlooked because it came out the same day as MGSV (was fun for the first few hours then jist was more of the same) i still play MAD MAX and love hunting down gangs and killing fuckers..
I also think the combat in this is a better version of the Asscreed/ArkHam formula!
And this game is beautiful and the sound is top notch with surround or headphones.. Only complaint is only being allowed to climb where it tells you it is allowed.. And yes a crouch for sneakomg would be great but goddamn this game is FUN AF

What the f. You liked Mad Max and hated Witcher 3. Dude you are SOOOOOOO wrong. I disagree with most of things you said in this video. There is a lot of resources (water, bullets), combat is shitty and the whole game is BORING. At first i liked it, the fighting, car combat and looting but then you realize that there is nothing more. THAT'S IT. All the bases you need to liberate, scrap locations and battles are copy paste. All the bosses are THE SAME, CONVOY RUNS,.... You are doing the same thing for 40 h. And the main story missions are mostly half fetch quests (you don't bring it back, oh no you mark it, game over). The story is to short and not that interesting and quests are boring. When you play you literally waist your time. This is Mad Max game gone wrong and for the love of god DON'T BUY IT. Go on piratebay, play it for couple of hours and you'll see.
Witcher 3 had clunky Controls? Are you on Drugs??!! The Combat controls were AMAZING. If you wanna talk about clunky controls look at Dragon Age Inquisition.
This is the best review I've seen for this game. You're always so thorough, but also funny and eccentric. I bought this basically the minute it released. An excellent PC port, according to Total Biscuit. The particle effects are perhaps the best I've seen in a game. The effects are just stunning, from fire to sandstorms and explosions.
I look forward to starting it soon.
This game is criminally underrated. Goes to show you that only gamer's reviews are worth reading. I rarely trust big game websites reviews of anything anymore. Especially when they give ANY Call of Duty game even a decent rating lol

You should give the Witcher 3 another try sometime, they patched in an 'alternate movement system' which is slightly less clunky, though not perfect.
why for the love of god, is their no multiplayer, such a nice big world, would have been great seeing other players and their cars/bases.
i never block i roll, roll, roll punch, roll roll roll punch, they never hit me, even better roll against a enemy he goes off balance and than u can kill him easy!..
getting rid of enemies in the car is way more easy, u just harpoon them all, i leave my car outside the base, i run inside, they see me, i run outside they come after me, i enter my car and just harpoon them all, its easy.. too easy..
bullets are not rare if u make a ammo farm in your base, i got multiple bases all make bullets, water and scrap, food, but i NEVER USE the shotgun...just the harpoon, i never use the sniper rifle, i just drive passed the sniper and harpoon him, this game is missing a difficult setting, i wish i could set the game on hard or extreme hard!..
TIP!: when a storm hits dont take shelter stay outside behind a rock, you can see BIG scrap boxes that are flying around, harpoon those you get a shitload of scrap!!.
put 40 hours into the game still dont have the V8 big block...but i will!!!!!, ooh i will!!!

I was waiting for your review on this , nobody covered the combat like you did (watching twitch channels it looked very batman esque which left a sour taste in my mouth) - but after watching you play it and explaining you need to aim , it got me excited. The combat looks very raw & real, not floaty/lofty like Batman / the Witcher does.

The Road Warrior was shit? It was far more serious, though still cheesy at times, but it had a better storyline, villains, characters, and atmosphere. The first one, still a classic, was rather cheesy and acted like a thriller than an action packed film, but it was somewhat all over the damn place. Beyond Thunderdome was alright, until the kids rescue him than it lost its momentum. Fury Road was freaking great, though the storyline was lacking, because the movie is basically a giant chase scene.

I found that the batman combat was sooooo good! I know that it's not that realistic but it's a superhero game! And the combat does get a lot harder (In the games i played) as the story progressed, especially if you're trying to get a combo.
I completely understand that people like different things in games, this is just my opinion.

This game has been panned by the critics but absolutely loved by gamers and that's what counts. Definitely a cult classic in the making (like the original film) and when the add some decent DLC to the mix it's going to make it more fun. I can only think of the possibilities with a sequel to this game. It will definitely be a franchise to be reckoned with.

Mac, you always speak my mind, but I cant agree on one thing you said. You said that there are no good perk systems in games. You are wrong there. I played two games that would be crap without the perk system, Skyrim and Vampire the mascarade bloodlines. The perk systems in those games gives them re-playing features. The perk system is stupid in Mad Mac...ssssssss, I agree on that. :D

I'm what a majority would consider a hardcore PC gamer, and this actually looks quite good. The port is extremely well done except for FOV adjustment, light-years better than MGSV. MGS looks more interesting and is quite unique mechanically, but damn the port is a fucking disgrace. Such a disappointment considering it's all the exact same problems from Rising and Ground Zeroes. They got tons of feedback on both titles, and they've fixed none of the port problems.
I love you Mad Mack(s), don't get me wrong, but I wonder if you would rate The Witcher 3 as a "Worth A Buy" also, if you were to get a percentage from a discount sale agreement...

Mad Max 2 theRoadwarrior for me and most people is by far the best movie of them all.. Its the one most resemblign this game also. Famous scene with the girl throwing boomerang and guy cutting off his fingers.
The witcher 3's combat is difficult but great it's not clunky your just shit at it Mac.. I guess you just need 3 button combat :)

I can't help but think the Batman style combat system is actually broken and severely overrated... Now don't get me wrong, it is good to hear Mad Max requires the player to give directions more, but I'm not sure if I'm convinced it is significantly better.
You're going on about this Batman combat again.... and again, please show me the "bunny" playing Batman on Knightmare combat difficulty. "Bunny" will get his ass handed to him if he just mashes the single attack button.
Mack, maybe you should go back to the Witcher 3 now it's had an upgrade on the animations. There's no an option for quicker more fluid animations. I personally never had an issue with it myself, but you might like it more now it's had these improvements.

This game is excellent, you can even activate video mode. On the controller it's pressing both thumbsticks down and it allows you to customize the depth of field, the field of view and you can even remove the HUD if you wanted to which is how I'm playing now. You can make the game look beautiful and I removed the HUD, brought the camera in closer to Max and applied a blur effect to far away distances in the game and it's absolutely breathtaking even on the PlayStation 4 and with the HUD removed, you don't get the icons above the enemies heads so you do have to watch the enemies and it's just so good. I commend Avalanche Studios and I'm actually upset that I didn't buy the game because it's a free PSN game this month. Way to go Avalanche.
Really? TBH I thought this was a mashup of everything bad about Batman: Arkham Knight and the Assassin's Creed series but done a hundred times worse. This game was so. Goddamn. REPETITIVE. And it didn't even have the decency to have an entertaining cast of characters like the Batman games did. Oh well, to each their own.
Well repetitive doesn't have to mean bad when the actual game mechanics are good and you enjoy them. As Mack said - the fights are satisfying and fun, the physics-based driving and fights are intense and cool and even grinding feels good in this game. But all this is very subjective of course...you said it best, to each their own ;)
I was let down by the on foot combat. Admittedly I was kind of sick of the Arkham combat formula when this game came out. I enjoyed it in Asylum, City, and Sleeping Dogs. I did also enjoy The Witcher 3 but NOT the actual combat aspect. I just wasn't like Mack when it came to how the combat ruined his enjoyment of the game as a whole. But I was kind of tired of it afterwards. I do agree with Mack that it is nice that it doesn't auto-target quite as much as in the Arkham games but I felt it simplified the already super-simple combat and while it had weight I still felt like it needed more to be able to interest me. I kind of felt considering the setting and franchise it would be a lot more raw, dirty, and brutal. Forgive me if I sound like little Ms. Psychopath but in the Mad Max universe it feels like when you aren't sticking improvised metal garbage to your car or wearing it as "clothes" you tend to be shoving it into someones skull. Enemies in the game often get improvised weapons... so why shouldn't Max be able to give them a quick whirl? Even if I did actually like how they handled his gun yet kept it as an "emergency" weapon with superbly limited use.
The Car combat was the only thing that I feel they really did right in a gameplay sense. And to be fair, that WAS arguably one of the most important things to get right. You couldn't call it a Mad Max game with a straight face if there wasn't absurd mass vehicle-on-vehicle-on-gimp mayhem. But it wasn't enough to carry the game for me. I found the grinding to be some of the worst in the genre and I'll admit I'm already one of those people who tires quickly of this brand of Sandbox. Action Sandboxes aren't my favourite type of game to begin with (When it comes to open world type games I'm less a GTA person and more of a Skyrim person. Red Dead Redemption is a rare exception, largely due to writing and the novelty of the setting and Saints Row IV tickled me so it gets a pass too even if I more so just watched my wife play it than actually playing it myself.) but Mad Max just went overkill on how slow the grinding was and I hate the whole "Here's a bunch of the same exact thing you gotta do at least 5 goddamn times to make progress in an area" thing. It feels like a chore to me.
If the game either was slightly more linear with less of the same repetitive tasks over and over or if it did what I often think this kind of game SHOULD do (I.E. Have more unique side quests that tell unique individual stories and don't have them OR the story missions gate you off. Make the structure more like open world RPGs do them.) then maybe the car combat could pull me through. As it stands though I just found what I did play of the game a total bore. Which is a shame because I've always been a little bit of a Mad Max fangirl and wanted a better game to keep the buzz from Fury Road going strong.
Watched a stream yesterday and had to stop after an hour or so, as that tutorial with its constant little cutscenes was so piss annoying and the combat looked way too batmanish. And I bet the "survival" aspect is as shallow as a puddle with the typical "points of interest" scattered evenly around the world and nothing in between, probably around bases and eye candy "landmarks" in order to restock food/water.
Even though you praise the "crunch" of the combat it still looks horribly repetitive. Apparently it is fists all the way, plus the occasional item you can grab and a bullet for your gun once a year - not enough. The worst thing when it comes to repitition, however, seems to be the aweful grinding part, the cancer of any game next to perks. Justifying with "purposeful" goals does not make it any better as each and every game which uses such mechanics has these goals at the end of the tunnel to add any dull reason to keep playing or stretch the time you have to spend making progress in the game. Might grab it in a sale, but that's as far as it gets.
Remind us about that green man gaming thing often, because I recently bought Starbound and forgot about your GMG "affiliation" or whatever and I instead bought it on Steam.
I picked it up for $6 on Stream... not bad at all. The big car battles are great.... mouse and keyboard. Harpooning the thugs is great fun as well.
I don't see myself ever getting into the combat unless they remove the "consolitis" in this thing, those icons above peoples heads has to go, its too damn distracting and makes the game look shallow. Yes it does have depth, but it "reveals its cards" to soon by showing how simple combat is when it brings everything down to icons. I want to discover the combat for myself (and possibly skip the tutorial) and not have the game tell me exactly how to play it through out the whole game. They ported this without giving players customisation.
This game is extreeeemely shallow for fist combat, narrative and how repetitive is is.
But holy shit that driving is cool. The roar of the engine alone is awesome
Totally agree dude, especially on the "I hate it for the first 6 hours then something clicks and I start to love it" thing. Maybe cuz we're too much influenced from a lot of Batman-style combat routine. But this is actually a f*cking good game and definitely worth our time and money
Mack! Do a worth a buy for MGS V The Phantom Pain. I've bought it myself and I can honestly say that I have made my money's worth playing it (I've only completed 18% of it). Isn't that what a worth a buy is for? Bang for your buck :) Trust me, it's a SOLID game (budum chh)
I am now definitely looking forward to Just Cause 3. Avalanche actually appears to give a shit when it comes to the optimization of their games. Just Cause 2 ran like butter even on my shitty hardware from a few years ago and still looks fucking gorgeous by today's standards. How Rocksteady managed to fuck up an ancient engine like Unreal 3 is beyond me. No! Wait! I do know why! They don't outsource their fucking products to same, shitty third party console developers! Twice in a row!

It looks great, feels great and plays pretty well on PC.
Im just loving that PCmasteracers are bleeding out there ears for this game but its actually well worth it. Got my car outfitted with grappler, black/white paint and basic ram. Driving is boss.
Dispite being a huge relatively empty desert game the world is beautiful and full of stuff to look at. White areas and areas that look like they may have been sea beds with corral. Awesome.
...and 2 different storms that Iv seen so far. Sandstorms are brown/golden with flying debris and amazing emmersion effects while Storm/storms have blueish tones and lightning to boot. Awesome.

At least the Batman games have a theme that's extremely well done. I feel like Batman and not like Ezio in a LOTR setting. A detailed and immersive theme makes you forget that you're playing another GTA/AssCreed reskin. The Arkham trilogy has that. This, like Shadow of Mordor, looks like it doesn't have that. Thanks for the review Mackx, the new Mad Max movie is a great action movie by the way.
Just finished this game. Why didn't you tell me to finish the main mission so I could have unlocked the damn V8 earlier. I played almost the whole f*cking game with a POS V6 bc I was worried about the finale. It's almost the opposite. Good review, Mack.
The Elder Scrolls Online has had a few major updates, gone free to play, and the Imperial City DLC was just released. Might you be revisiting thr game sometime soon to see how it's doing?

Batman's combat is done similar as well. Issue was you were using a controller for AK which simplifies it even further, I would recommended checking out Asylum with KBM if you did enjoy the combat here since it practically is the same thing. Arguably Asylum is the best Batman anyway. Removes the open world dynamic if that is a bit boring for you and focuses much more on this combat style.
This game is worth every penny I'm enjoying it, its brilliant! I got mine pre owned on PS4 for £25 because for some reason this game has devalued quickly so got it cheaper but I'm liking it so much I would of even pre ordered the special edition one. So yeah great game.
The game is for 20 on PS4 now. Still not sure whether to get it. I mean.. I believe Mack every word, it just doesn't seem like my kind of game. Too much grinding, too little exploring and the world seems bland..
Yeah I would agree with you so much on this combat being way better than Arkham Knight. I thought I was part of the minority disliking the combat in the Arkham games since it seemed like EVERY reviewer seemed to love the batman combat so much. But Imo I'm probably also in the minority for this but my favourite hand to hand combat would be sleeping dogs because of how unforgiving screwing up the counter button was.

Can't wait to pick this up. I'm sure i'll like it better than Fury Road. That film really disappointed me. It had an excellent cast, was beautifully shot and had a very unique story, but they just shat all over the potential, in my opinion. I got incredibly tired of the car chases about 45 minutes into the movie and unfortunately, they don't let up after the intro bit except for 5 fucking minutes when you think the plot will take a cool turn in the middle. Instead they say 'well that didn't work, we'll have to head back the way we came'. Then there's 30 more minutes of the same mindless action-packed car fights until they close the movie out during the last 5 minutes. Yes, I know it's an action movie, but if you're going to center the action around car chases/fights, at least mix it up a bit.
I like your videos so much Mack that I have opened all your videos in one tab each and started to play so I could raise the views for you. Unfortunately my computer crashed so I couldn't (had to open like 100 different browser windows) get the anticipated views that I wanted to give. Hopefully you see this message. Although it was a total flop I think it is the thought that matters and so I will give you something to think about.
I like you Mack, every bit of what you have presented. I don't agree with you always and that is not the point. The point is that I have shitload of fun watching you so you keep on doing what you do and I will always support you in any way I can.

Dude, you've got to check Mad Max Fury Road... Pretty much all the fighting scenes, special effects, people and vehicles on scene are real and it's just such a blast (not to mention the story ofc). Only movie that ever managed to get me out of my man cave and surround myself with strangers in a cinema, twice no less.
