    Great video as usual. I have Pella rep coming to my house this week. 30 day wait just to get a quote. I've gotten a quote from local dealer for a bow and quote came in at $5,800. 1960s split level home. They use Wincor windows out of West Virginia. I hope it goes well.

    A couple things I like about these casements: 1. There is no crank to get in the way of window treatments. 2. The pivot point is at the edge of the window instead of somewhere in the middle. That means the entire width of the window is clear if you need to escape through the window.

    Great looking windows, and great video! You had said the frame width of the picture set impervia window is 1-3/4”. What is the width of the impervia casement-both the width of the fiberglass frame (jamb) and the width of the fiberglass part of the sash?

    Are these comparable to Marvin Elevate? Which would you choose? I have an older 1920s bungalow with single pane wood windows, and unfortunately none are salvageable. I’d like a new window with a similar aesthetics to the classic wood windows. Noise reduction is important. I saw the Marvin Elevates at a local hardware store here in LA and really like them. Great channel. Thanks for all the info!

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either one of those two fiberglass products are going to be very comparable. They happen to share the same glass from the same manufacturer that makes the best glass for the top window companies in America. If you are wanting to look historical, neither one of these is a good product. However, I would have to say that the Pella product is more historical looking than the Marvin equivalent. If you want a more historical look, Marvin and Pella both make products for that as well. They will have a wood interior and an aluminum exterior. If you decide to go that route, you should look into Windsor Windows as well. Thank you for your comment, and thank you for watching.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those products are proprietary to pella. I would not be concerned about them going out of business anymore than I would be concerned about Amazon going out of business. Obviously, anyone can go out of business without notice. However, an established, 100-year-old company, with billions of dollars in revenue has a very low risk of going out of business. They certainly have a lower risk than milgard would

    I'm kinda biased against pella but these look very sharp. I've been looking at Marvin essential and I feel they have no soul to them... Maybe you know what I mean. Interestingly they come out cheaper than ultra premium vinyl . I'm curious on your thoughts essential vs this product ?

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are both great fiberglass products, as far as quality goes. The biggest difference is the finish, Pella uses a powder coat while Marvin opts for a baked on acrylic urethane, they both come with a ten year warranty. I think it all boils down to which one you prefer the aesthetics of.

      Casements only open outward and you get to decide which side they are hinged on. For cleaning purposes there are some casements that have what is called a "wash hinge". It allows the sash to pivot to a point where the exterior is facing inward enough to be cleaned from the inside.

      @thomashowellgarbage thank you for watching and for your question. Unfortunately, you're going to have to have a pretty long arm in order to reach the window if it's very wide. They do not have a way to disconnect it easily. If you were to be able to disconnect it, you'd have to go outside to do it anyway. At that point, you might as well wash the window while you're out there. Lol.

I had seen a competitor casement window that, once disengaged from the swing arm, it converted from a side-hinge to a being able to pivot more toward the middle. I'll roll the dice with a few more questions for you.
      1-Do you see more service calls on the Easy Slide over a traditional crank hardware? That feature alone has us leaning toward Pella Impervia.
      2-If necessary, can the Easy Slide hardware be swapped out without changing the whole window?
      3-Any chance you want to sell us 32 windows here in Utah? I've filled out the form, but would just as soon send the business your way... ;)

    Pella had a huge class action lawsuit which I’m in on regarding their aluminum wood windows and I was furious. So they aren’t that great. The wood rots out on their aluminum cladding. Now they supposedly corrected that but I’m cautious about them. I think a strong vinyl or fiberglass if good is best. Andersen made a better window than Pella casement. My Mother has all Big Andersen Casement and fixed and her oldest are 23 years and they are perfect yet. Her newest are 12 years old and perfect. My Pella casement are 12 years old and rotting out!
