Max's last comment is what annoys me about these sports media people. He said Brady didn't make a probowl in his first 5 years as a starter. Well he went to 3 in 2001, 2004, and 2005, plus he was 3rd in MVP voting twice in 2003 and 2005 being AP2. Everyone makes it seem like brady was just along for the ride and forget that he lead the league in TDs his 2nd year starting lead the league in yards his 5th year starting, and was top 10 in almost every passing statistic for those 5 years with receivers like Troy Brown, David Patten, and Deion Branch (1 probowl over all 3 of there careers). He didn't have a Travis Kelce or a Tyreek Hill or an Offensive minded coach like Andy Reid. It also was a defensive minded era, so his numbers are skewed.
Do I think Mahomes has had the better start than Brady, yes its undeniable, but the lengths at which they minimize brady's early career in order to make the gap between him and mahomes seem even larger is sickening and demonstrates recency bias.

let’s take it back to his first one. In 2002 Tom Brady threw 1 TD IN THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS ( his first 3 playoff games). His job was pretty much don’t F the game up Tom! which he almost did but the “tuck rule” saved his career.

Tom Brady is like the Nolan Ryan of NFL quarterbacks: he put up absurd, untouchable numbers largely by virtue of being very good for a long time. But just as Nolan Ryan wasn't the best pitcher to ever throw (there's plenty of arguments about who was-Cy Young, Warren Spahn, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, maybe someone else) because he didn't really establish his prowess as beyond the pack, neither did Brady ever display that kind of one-of-a-kind talent to distance himself from the other elite quarterbacks of his era, although he did win a few MVP awards while Ryan never took home a Cy Young. I don't even really have that good of a baseball comparison for Mahomes, except maybe Tim Lincecum, the kid phenom (aptly nicknamed the Freak) who put up astounding numbers early in his career and, were it not for injuries, might have well and truly become one of the better players the sport had ever seen. Maybe someone else in the comments can come up with a better analogue for Mahomes, like maybe Bob Feller or somebody, but the point is that he's clearly established himself as the best NFL player and might be on track to becoming the greatest as well.

People arent giving the coaches credit for scheming a top 3 all time tight end open constantly or the way they beat the goal line coverage scheme multiple times in the same way with 2 of the most wide open touchdowns in super bowl history. Mahomes is phenomenal and is on a Goat trajectory but you have to give the coaches their due for putting such a great gamelan together, especially in the 2nd half.

2 more rings does not even put Mahomes into consideration. Brady has 7 rings and he didnt magically luck into those. He's had much more iconic SB games than Mahomes has, and was never blown out in one like Mahomes has.

Patrick Mahomes has had a better career *start* than MJ, Kobe, LeBron, Magic, Brady, Montana, Shaq, Wilt, and Kareem. But ESPN has failed to recognize Bill Russell who won multiple rings and MVPs during his first 5 seasons. Mahomes isn't the only player in history to win multiple MVPs and rings his first 5 years.

Magic Johnson is the most comparable to Mahomes. He didn't win MVPs until 1987, 1989, and 1990. But he won 2 rings (1980, 1982) and 2 Finals MVPs (1980, 1982) his first 5 seasons and 5 rings his first 9.
Patrick Mahomes is an amazing talent. But the media really needs to calm down with this GOAT or MJ comparisons. I still think MJ had a better peak (1987-1998) than anybody in team sports history. Six rings in 8 years on mostly a homegrown roster before free agency ruined continuity for most franchises.
To me, and I'm not trying to sound like Skip Bayless here, but Jalen Hurts outplayed Mahomes except committed one flaw that was enough to cost his team the game. In the other 2 SBs Pat was in, he was quite mid. This game was actually his best SB performance of the 3 and he still got kinda outplayed by Jalen.
MJ was pretty much awesome in 5 of the 6 Finals he was in (1991, 1992, 1993, 1997, 1998). His 1996 had his worst FG% but that's still MJ's greatest season. Never lost in the Finals while Mahomes lost to Brady and shockingly melted down in the 2nd half to the Bengals last year. I never once saw MJ melted down in a playoff series.
MJ's worst or his least productive playoff series is actually in 1987 when he got swept by the Celtics but MJ didn't really melt down and disappear. The 1995 series he lost to Orlando, 31 PPG / 48% FG. Wasn't outplayed by Shaq or Penny. For any championship game, he never lost. Never melted down going back to 1982 against Georgetown.
Many people are pissed about that controversial call late in the game against the Eagles. Even had LeBron tweeting about it. Does ESPN badly want a Michael Jordan of the NFL? To be comparable to MJ, you pretty much need to be perfect and Mahomes already has a blemish in Super Bowls where he is the reason they lost.
I'm looking forward to that Air movie starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. I love to see the origins of Air Jordan and Nike's popularity. An actor for MJ was never hired. He won't be in it but his parents were casted. Create more mystique like Vito Corleone at the end of The Godfather: Part II. These three are top notch, I appreciate their ability to provide entertainment along with what seems like honest opinions. PM15 needs to finish his career of course, but he's in the conversation now in my opinion. Lots of fun stuff to weigh in the GOAT conversation. Brady is the GOAT as far as an entire career, but it can't just be about championships, otherwise you have to say somebody like Bill Russell is the greatest basketball player ever. If you compare Mahomes' first 5 years starting vs. Brady's, I think Mahomes is ahead. by a country mile He has multiple championships, multiple MVPs, and is way out ahead of TB12 in most QB statistical categories.

Very possible. However the economic impact of his ,yeah this sounds dumb by numbers, long-term team friendly deal ,more down the road. A HC whose probably 3 to 5 yrs still. Plus several of his biggest conference competitors they have to pay or get a QB, so the odds say 3 (safe side) , but some things he/team have done may really extend that like Tom and Patriots. He has something to keep going for when he's already joined an exclusive club. But time will tell. But can this dude get THAT much better 🤔 😳?
