    Impressive Bluetooth range. If you get separated from your bike in an accident you can still make a call and listen to tunes waiting for the ambulance.

      With this unit, why wouldn't you keep the phone on your person? I have been fanatical about doing so after a life altering accident long ago...granted, no cell reception as is still common where I ride the bikes in a spirited way.

    So when the WiFi antennas are well-designed, the range of wireless CarPlay is incredible. The CarPlay in a 2023 Mazda CX-5 I had as a loaner was able to go about 125 feet before it dropped.

    When you mentioned the work around, and your ability to get all of the buttons and functions to work properly; Can you go into detail about how you did that with your iPone (i.e. step by step).

    Very cool tech. I’ve been looking for a plug & play setup for my 2006 Jaguar XKR, which has an unusable nav head unit. (Junk when new.) Mounting may[ be an issue without harming any of the interior. It’s too nice to butcher. This would really be a game-changer if it ends up working in my semi-daily driver. Thanks.
    Keep the content coming.

      The car versions are really neat. I think they can do bluetooth to a head unit so equipped, aux cable to a head unit so equipped, or they have a built-in FM transmitter or their own speaker (or you could pair them to a bluetooth speaker in the cupholder I guess)

    • @tomfurie2996
      @tomfurie2996 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@100PercentJake Yes, thanks. I spent a lot of time looking over their many sizes of units last night, and they do all that you would expect. Mounting is still an issue as the car is so small I can’t put it on top of the dash. And since they weren’t really designed to be stuck onto the face of the dash, they are pretty thick. Some guys on the Jag forums have fitted various systems, all of which are far from plug & play. I need something like the W903 (3.7”x9.45”) but only 1/2” thick and without forward camera. That unit is over 1.5” thick.

      @@tomfurie2996I’ve been using their B09SHQL1Z3 model since mid January of this year in a Subaru Outback. I ended up picking up basic clamp mount to clamp to a dowel that I slid into the cubby above the stereo. Don’t know if this is an option for you in your jag.

    great video. Question; does this Carpuride have the 'Ghost Touch' problem that all smart phones have? rain drops cause problem when you try to operate it, and device have mind of its own and do weird things?

  • @TheRealAlpha2

    As Bluetooth ages, it's getting steadily more complicated figuring out which link in the chain each device wants to be. I've had a set of headphones paired to my phone for months then an update to my music app (or something else?) stopped the play button on the headphones from working one day which meant I had to manually stop music when answering calls. I reset the headphones and paired it a several times and now suddenly it seems like it works exclusively with the phone. And I mean before it _used_ to give me a "bluetooth connected" sound to confirm that it's paired, but now it just IS connected whenever I turn it on instantly, no confirmation sound anymore. Weirdness.

    All of these lose the clock when 12v is interrupted but reset it as soon as connected to the phone. But knowing my ADHD self all too well, I went with switched 12v.
    Easy thing to do on a Spyder.
    Edit - And another thing. I use a QuadLock bar mount with wireless charging (and add a blocking plug to my phone charge port th keep it dry) with their anti vibration add on. No camera issues, but I need a cooler for the phone cos it can't handle desert sun or heat.
    I'll have to try the connection trick with my Cardo unit. Volume blows with my device too.

    Its not that hard to find a good source of power on a motorcycle. Each motorcycle is different but you can run just about anything switched with the positive side of the load connected to the ground side of the headlight. As long as the load is in parallel it will be fine but will draw more current so make sure your fuse for the headlamp can support it otherwise its fine to install a higher rated fuse for that setup on the headlamp. It worked fine for my heated grips.

    The proprietary ram ball mount is a deal breaker on this. A lot of bikes provide an integrated cross bar for mounting something like this with just a clamp.

    • @brucenixon6055
      @brucenixon6055 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the ball mount on the rear of the carpuride unit can be removed and then you can use the 4 screw positions to mount it directly.

      Built in functionality in Apple HomeKit/CarPlay. My garage door is a myQ-enabled Chamberlain, but they no longer sell the Homekit bridge for it, which is incredibly stupid because their app is a travesty.

    Please do an update later as you use it more. One of the distressing comments on the manufacturer's page from a single user was that they could not get touch enabled gloves to work with the screen...same gloves that work with his phone. This is kind of a showstopper for me (average 12K+ miles a year on my bikes including a 5K+ mile tour each year) as ATGATT rider.

      One is a coincidence, several is a pattern. I'd do a bit more research into finding other reviews that mention the problem if it's troubling for you, but if it's just one person saying that I'd chalk it up to a defective unit.

    Be careful about this product. I purchased the W502 for my motorcycle, decided it was too small and attempted to return it as per the "unconditional return" policy on their web site. The joke is on me. Here is the response:
    Dear customer,
    If you want to return the product, you will need to send it back, incurring high shipping costs, tariff and the risk of losing the product in transit. We will refund you $50. You can keep the product, You can use it yourself or give it as a gift to a friend, Is that OK for you?
    This is not an UNCONDITIONAL return.

    What evidence do you have to support your claim of "tons and tons" of phone cameras have been ruined by being mounted on a motorcycle? I have been using a handlebar mounted phone on my bikes for years, ridden thousands of miles, with multiple phones without a single issue. My riding friends have had the same experience. And I have never heard of this issue before.
    I see a couple articles about Apples warning of not using iPhone on a motorcycle. My friends and I all have Android phones so is it as simple as that? Seems like just another reason not to buy an iPhone.
