    Yes, Bruce, it’s really amazing after all these years and hundreds if not thousands of videos from owners, that Omega should change the bracelet of this particular model. For example, you look at Tudor and everybody complained about the clasp on the black bay and what did they do? They updated their clasp with the t-fit it to their models.

    This was my first luxury watch. It is an amazing timepiece. I find the crown difficult to operate because of a medical issue but overcame that with a collet style crown tool. Still one of my favorite watches I own.

    The Aqua Terra is a beautiful watch available in multiple sizes, colors and features. The METAS certified movement is proven and solid. I am a fan of Omega and of the Aqua Terra. Well done review Bruce.

    Great review Bruce. Tip for everyone: Look at the Formex adjustable deployant. If you're having issues being between notches on the strap, it's a game changer. You can adjust the size without even taking the watch off.

    I have this exact watch. I love it, because it isn't like anything else. I had a BB58 and sold it, as it didn't have any wrist presence (YMMV) and could be lost in the Diver crowd. So what I look for in a watch is in house movement, a balanced dial, unique and colorful.This AT41 ticks all the boxes.Didn't like the bracelet one bit, the rubber is more comfortable and If I want a bracelet, I'll buy an Uncle Seiko and not care if it gets scratched

    Absolutely agree that the AT is a fantastic watch - I have the "big seconds hand" version in dark blue on the steel bracelet and additionally a NATO, and it looks incredible on both. The design is amazingly classic and timeless, and I always catch myself looking down at my wrist in awe. I also had the polished middle links brushed to match the outer links, and this completes the look for me.
    I'm eyeing up the Seamaster 300 or Grand Seiko GMT next, but whatever I buy, the AT will be my "first love" of luxury watches.

    • @kahzhock
      @kahzhock ปีที่แล้ว

      Like you, I had the polished middle links brushed - made such a difference to the overall look - more sporty, less dressy, and not so much bling. I just wish the bracelet had micro-adjust so I could get a perfect fit - it’s strange when you think that a lot of much cheaper watches have this.

  • @dBsdecibels
    @dBsdecibels ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My first luxury watch was the center seconds AT (orange Golf edition). Despite having nicer watches now, it's still my favorite in the collection. It's a perfect all-round watch. Can be dressed up, dressed down, can hike with it, can dive with it (though not time the dive), can take a hit. It has a surprising amount of depth to the dial, between the dial texture and the tall angular indexes. Catches side lighting really well. It's just about perfect.
    Where I have complaints: biggest gripe is the crown. It looks really cool, but it's a bit tough to wind the watch. Too much resistance on the stem for it to be easy with a crown of that shape. Would have preferred a ceramic bearing rotor, rather than a slightly more vulnerable jeweled staff. Wish it had micro adjust on the clasp. Those are it though.

    I went to the AD and tried on the (1) AquaTerra (which the dial small second dial is gorgeous) , (2) the SMP300 new version and the (3) Seamaster 300 (old school looking one).
    Out of he 3 ,,, the Seamaster 300 had the best fit and feel. The Aquaterra Dial is just like a supermodel, but the bracelet is a downer with the polished center and butterfly (which peronsally feel is never secure), and the SMP300 is nice but super top heavy and a bit uncomfortable , but the bracelet is top notch.
    So... give me the AT with the SMP bracelet and call it a day with the case of the Seamaster 300 aesthetics...

    I love the AT, I have the long discontinued reference 231.90.43.22.04.001 with the pre-METAS certification 8605 movement and flat white dial. I think the AT range sits between two or arguably three buckets. It has a great depth rating that is more than enough for the majority of us but is not quite a diver, it's a sporty watch without being overly tool watch but it can easily be worn to functions without being too out of place. Personally I have no issues with the butterfly clasp on the bracelet but if I were in the market for a new one I'd probably consider the strap options. The strap deployment options to my knowledge do not require anything to be cut to fit and tend to last well. My 2016 Globemaster leather strap is almost perfect that I think uses a similar deployment clasp as the current AT. For the model under discussion I'm a fan of the small seconds and the symmetry with the date at 6 and the sunray dial is great. There is just enough going on but it's not too busy. I love the 89XX movement with the jump hour as well. Would I buy one? Not yet as I have my old AT GMT and Globemaster so I have my bases covered. I would not rule it out in the future but I have no desire to sell one or both of the aforementioned watches to cover it... yet.

    The clasp is definitely my main issue with the AT. It also is what kept me from buying the Railmaster. I think if they gave it one of their quick adjust clasps, even something with a minimum adjustment like the current production Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch, they'd have something really desirable. It did not stop my father from purchasing one though. Would I prefer the bracelet to be all polished? Sure, but that's being nitpicky. I think the clasp thing is more of a practical issue though. I actually prefer the center seconds look, but this is a cool offering. I can't wait to check out the new colorful variants in person. My very personal take:
    1) It costs more than a Seamaster 300, despite having worse specs....why?
    2) 13.6 mm is really quite thick for the style of watch.
    3) It has a scratchable AR layer on the outside of the scratch proof crystal.
    4) The wide arrow on the minute hand looks odd on a watch without a dive bezel.
    5) The lack of border on the date window looks unfinished.
    6) The polishing on the bracelet is ugly, and there is no on-the-fly adjustment.
    Which details are important on a watch is a very subjective thing, and a watch is more than the sum of it's specs. I think that I prefer the older version with the date at the 3 o'clock.

      Agreed, watches are very subjective. I think the premium mostly comes down to the improved movement and more intricate dial details. Unlike you I love the arrow minutes and the frameless cutout, and the top applied ARC. Having owned multiple of these modern Omegas ive yet to scratch the hardened coating. Hoping for a better bracelet and clasp next generation though 😊

      They had a lot of issues with the first 2500 movements that had 4 hertz and a bi level co axial escapement. After redesigning the movement they found the best combination was a 3.5 hertz frequency and a modified tri level Co axial escapement

    I had an AT 41 but got rid of it. Here were the things I disliked
    13.5mm thick is excessive for a date only complication ( only .2mm thinner than the smp 300 )
    Poorly designed bracelet
    Overly bulbous case shape
    I think they should thin the watch down to around 12mm, make a more solid bracelet with instant micro adjustment and it would be in a whole different level.
    Only 60 hours of power reserve despite a slowed beat rate
    Non-instant date change at midnight
