Teddy, I want to say thank you for sharing your ideas on your TH-cam channel and through your articles. My knowledge of watches has increased so much since I started following you. On suggestion I have is that I would like to see you do some interviews with the owners of some American microbrand companies, like Detroit Watch Company, Weiss Watch Company, and Vortic Watches like you did with RGM Watches. It seems the last 10 years have been the beginnings of an American watch manufacturing renaissance movement. These brands are definitely underrated, and it would be interesting to see you use your platform to draw attention to these companies and this movement. I can imagine in another 5-10 years, there will be a American movement manufacturer and truly 100% made in America watches.
I went with the SSC limited edition from Seiko. I thought the styling and functionality outweighs the romance of a mechanical movement. I'll take the accuracy and usability of solar quartz over the bottomless pockets you need for some of these others.
That Breitling premier with the pistachio dial is awesome. I have a feeling it may be a love it or hate it watch. As for me, I love it. Those love it or hate it pieces are a fascinating little sector of collecting I think. Everyone has some kind of emotional response to those types of watches lol. Can make for great entertainment!
I'm a chrono guy. I just love chronographs, whether it's a diver, dress, sports, aviation watch it has to have a chrono function. Loved the watches on the vid but when talking heritage chronographs there should be a few more in that list, like Rolex Daytona and TAG Heuer Monaco. Still a great vid.
Two weeks ago I bought my first ever chronograph watch (Citizen) through Teddy's store. It's blueish dial is amazing. Outstanding watch for the price. Great video, all are wonderful watches.
I've enjoyed Citizen as well I have 3. The Eco series, turquoise model,Pro master Orange & Blue Angel limited ed. They have a super nice loom in the evening!
As much as I love Seiko, the Hamilton and Tudor, inverted-panda pieces are amazing looking (and I’ve never been a big chrono-guy) Awesome video, well done!
Yupp! I searched for the Tudor black one for a while and when I finally found one it was actually the white panda and I couldn’t turn it down but the black panda is still the nicer looking of the two for me.
I’ve got the Yema Speedgraf with the Seiko NE86 automatic movement. I think it also fits here on this list as there is some real heritage there. Another great video Teddy!
Dan Henry has multiple mecaquartz based heritage chronographs under $300. I have a 1939 ww2 military chrono and my wife wears the 1937 art deco themed chrono. Both very retro good looking and affordable.
Yeah I wish Teddy looked more within this price range. Ever since I saw the Tissot Telemeter, I’ve been really interested in buying a more affordable watch in the same style. Dan Henry came under the radar, but I wish there was a similarly affordable option that doesn’t rely on a battery.
Big respect for mentioning the seagull, I think in the west we're scared of the image of Chinese manufacturing far too much The seagull stuff looks insane for the price and does make me feel like it opens up the watch world to people on more limited budgets whilst always offering unbeatable value for money It will have its drawbacks, but I feel like seagull has some real gems
the same can be said about clones tbh. I just bought a daytona clone and its fkin stunning and unbelievable what you get for under a thousand bucks. So long as you dont care about authenticity or resale value and just enjoy nice watches for yourself.
It's a great little watch if you know what you are paying for! Mine keeps under +5 sec a day and the chrono pushers offer a crisp feedback when used, plus the great view of the whole movement. The one drawback is that my first one was DOA but made the claim to the Ali vendor and got a replacement (my current one) very much happy with the product now.
Once again a Teddy review without any mention or inclusion of Fortis! They have some excellent Chronograph models backed with a lot of history and heritage. C’mon after all they invented the first automatic watch. Not understanding why this guy keeps ignoring Fortis and there isn’t a single review of any of their watches!
You are my video haven for normalcy. Lately had to bail out of music videos trying to be an information video. So much music over voice was difficult to hear the spoken voice. Love your presentations, straight forward information, very well presented. Some watches I have never seen. For me, today is 70 trips around the sun. Buying and watch repair the last 20 years. As it is a special day, from the safe, my Rolex Day Date Gold President 40 mm is on my wrist.
I know one day you’ll pull the trigger on a Lange, Teddy :D The honey gold Chrono definitely caught my eye; when you peruse the Lange website you can definitely find a wide array of appealing models.
Great selection of pieces, really enjoyed seeing such a nice range of the market. As always your presentation is extremely well done, complete and professionally presented / produced. (But could you lean outa saying 'lean into' every 53.4 seconds - I timed with my new chronograph : -)
Teddy what do you think about the new upgraded Seiko solar chronograph speedtimer you love? Primarily the SSC911 with its Silver/black bezel that reminds me of Zenith Chronomaster Sport. I have one, and its 41mm doesn't actually feel big at all
I understand watches coming down in size. however for someone with a 19cm/7.4 inch very flat and wide wrist I just cant pull off these 38mm chronographs I really enjoy the vintage styles but my Chronographs need to be 41-44 mm depending on the lug to lug. I own several dress watches that are 40mm and they where like a 36mm on me. I really do like the reduced sizes on most wrists just don't forget about the larger wrist enthusiasts.
Totally understand. Not as many larger watches as usual here. I think that is primarily based on the genre of heritage-style pieces leaning into smaller cases as well. Will continue to keep more case sizes in mind for the future.
Thanks for posting such a good video on TH-cam. However, in your opinion, which watch is better value between Seiko speed timer SSC813P1 PANDA or Oriental Star HK0002L?
I have the EBEL 1911 Discovery model for 18 years and it is one of the most accurate Chronographs. In 18 years I have never had to service my 1911, and I had a famous watch store test my watch and I was told (confidently) that it is as accurate as a Rolex Daytona! When I walked into the store the sales manager, came over and noticed my 1911, and told me the history of the 1911. He told me that it is still a popular watch which was made famous with its’ exposure on the Miami Vice TV show.
The best part of the production on a wide range of prices. All these Chronographs are beautiful from 300 $ to 50 000 $. i would be happy to buy , the LONGINES, the OMEGA Speedmaster, the BREITLING (green one) and the BREGUET .

The Zenith would tick all the boxes if it had just 100m water resistance. Need a Chronograph some time in the future to complete my collection (if that is possible). Requirements: around 40mm diameter, 100m wr, not to thick, chronometer grade movement and some classic. There are quite a few nice options in this video but I'm not in a hurry.
Fantastic choices! The thing is, I want a Bucherer chronograph in the $8000. But for now, it's too much money to spend on a watch. But on this list, I saw some great alternatives with a a similar look for much less money. And watches that I'd be proud to wear on my wrist.
Love that Zenith Chronomaster original, and especially that panda dial. Most vintage looking watch of them all. If I can only wear 1 watch for the rest of my life, that is my candidate. Paired well with a vintage omega or something
There are so many watches now that utilize the Seagull ST19 mechanical chronograph movement, that I'm surprised that you continue to showcase the Seagull 1963. That was the first and only option a few years ago, but now there are so many more options to choose from if you want an affordable mechanical chronograph using the ST19. Many of them cost just $200 and have great specs, and unique designs, such as vintage military, racing, diving, medical chronographs. Actually, I think most are superior to the Seagull 1963. Thanks for your great videos.
Teddy is one of my favorite youtube personalities, and this channel was one of my favorite new discoveries of 2022. That being said, I hope Courtney didn't see him in this turtleneck.
The Citizen EcoDrive chronograph range makes most of your suggestions look very silly, Teddy. And no, I don't own one. But if I wanted a sub-$2,000 chronograph (I'm way past that stage) that's the brand I'd be targeting. Just take a look at them. Bargains all, but brilliant.
You should have squeezed Blancpain Air Command in between Breguet and Lange. It's pretty much a direct facsimile of the 1950s Air Command, and IMO one of the handsomest chronos in production now.
A very fine list for sure. Probably too many watches out there to name, but what are your thoughts about this one? Eterna 1940 - CHRONOGRAPH TELEMETER . I've considered this one myself, but wasn't really convinced the brand is doing so well... so concerns about them going bankrupt.
Nice selection, especially the Seagull is quite a cool piece. On the upper end of the price range, I would definitely see the Speedmaster 321 Ed White the best heritage Chrono of them all. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Another microbrand that I would consider is Corniche with their Heritage Chronograph, but I haven't had the chance to actually see them in person. Does anyone have any experience or opinion on these?
Note: all Sea gull 1963 with the open case backs are not REAL Sea-Gull reissue. They are produced by another company...I own a limited edition 1963 reissue directly form Sea-Gull here where I live in China. It has a titanium closed case back.
What are some good places for buying watch straps in person? It seems like all the suggestions I see are online stores but I would like to see the straps in person before buying.
I own a Furlan Marri which design wise is based on Patek Phillipe but with a Mecha Quartz movement, i also own a Dan Henry 1937 inspired by chronographs of that time period, again a Mecha quartz, i also own a Bauhaus Iron Annie but is solar powered, although you can get an automatic model, albeit around £700 UK pounds more expensive.
Thanks, Teddy, really nice review but honestly I have always had the same problem my Wrist is around 19cm (19,3 or so) and watches under 41mm just look like Toys on my Wrist. Would have loved some "bigger" Options. Although I just bought the Bulova Lunar Snoopy I am always looking for some nice watches 🙂
I've recently acquired a Doxa Sub 200 C-Graph (Sharkhunter). I thought that it was somewhat overpriced at £2690 seeing as the basic Sub 200 is under £1000, however I was lucky and managed to snag one at the 'Christmas Sale' price of £1640, a reduction of over £1K. Couldn't pass it up at that price.

@@deevee8220 Lol Tag Heuer is not the kind of watch you wish to collect, like the watch itself is nice but only fans boys of Tag Heuer will want one. And their new watches are overpriced, don’t want to argue we all have a different opinions on watches so.
Everyone has an opinion these days smh
Great video - personally I love this type of watches and amazing to see that even the low end ones are really nice looking watches
Great vid, Teddy. I would love to see a commentary on accessible rattrapante chronos.
I really like the Hamilton intra matic. Would be cool if they made them with the hour counter. Hopefully someday.
Hamilton, Tudor, & Breitling (pistachio face) are excellent!
I think that Breitling Premier might be my grail watch. Love the dial.
Wearing my Hamilton panda auto chrono today! Love this watch.
I feel Hanhart deserves a mention as well, as worn by Steve McQueen.
Some really beautiful chronographs Teddy. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing! Love this entire list but ...
My top pick is absolutely that great lookin' Hamilton Chrono H Auto 😍👍🏼
The Zenith would tick all the boxes if it had just 100m water resistance. Need a Chronograph some time in the future to complete my collection (if that is possible). Requirements: around 40mm diameter, 100m wr, not to thick, chronometer grade movement and some classic. There are quite a few nice options in this video but I'm not in a hurry.
The 42mm has a 100m WR, I wonder why the 38mm dosen't. I also prefer the 6 o'clock date window on the 42mm
For retro look but more affordable and well appreciated by watch collectors/enthusiasts I would also recommend Dan Henry - racing themed watches.
Another fantastic video Teddy, fascinating insight that I could never achieve on my own and perfectly pitched. Thank you
Fantastic choices!
Great vid and great lineup of modern chronographs. Love it.
Thanks so much for another fantastic list Teddy. Breitling Premier BO9 is the standout for me. Exceptional in every way.
Nice, have the Hamilton, Sinn and Tudor would like to add that zenith and Breitling!
Outstanding, Teddy! A great range and selection, with your straightforward and informative presentation.
The watches or the roll-necks?
Happy New Year, Teddy. Another class video. Not a huge lover of Chronos tbh & so only have one in the collection. A 3861 Hesalite.
Because of your good friend Kevin I bought a red rubber strap for an automatic watch !
I also would have selected the A.Lange & Söhne fly back chronograph. What a masterpiece !
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 would be my personal pick!
Love my chronographs. Three on my list are the Hamilton, Longines and Tissot.
Thanks for pressenting watches of a good size , 38-39,5mm.
Teddy is one of my favorite youtube personalities, and this channel was one of my favorite new discoveries of 2022. That being said, I hope Courtney didn't see him in this turtleneck.
I saw chronograph in the title and would hope to see the most underrated chrono out there… the jlc Polaris chrono
Always good to see one of my watches in your good books. Thanks Teddy
You should have squeezed Blancpain Air Command in between Breguet and Lange. It's pretty much a direct facsimile of the 1950s Air Command, and IMO one of the handsomest chronos in production now.
Teddy , you made a fantastic list of watches and I learned a lot with you . Thank you so much .
That Longines Record is stunning…👊🏻💯⌚️😍 I know it’s always “something” but I would love so much if it had date or day/date even…
Hey Teddy what is the neck sweater you are wearing? Links please
Note: all Sea gull 1963 with the open case backs are not REAL Sea-Gull reissue. They are produced by another company...I own a limited edition 1963 reissue directly form Sea-Gull here where I live in China. It has a titanium closed case back.
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of amzwatch. Their watches are of exceptional quality.
Hey Teddy! Are you wearing a Grand Seiko?
What are some good places for buying watch straps in person? It seems like all the suggestions I see are online stores but I would like to see the straps in person before buying.
Great video. For the same range as Habring2 I would add the Glashutte Seventies Chrono Panorama date.
I have the Longines Record Heritage and love it for its looks! One thing is that the rotor is very loud, anyone else have this?
Good list! I feel it's missing something from Yema. They have several heritage chronos that are great on the budget side and mid-tier as well.
Great video, as always!
I have the seagull and I absolutely love it
I've recently acquired a Doxa Sub 200 C-Graph (Sharkhunter). I thought that it was somewhat overpriced at £2690 seeing as the basic Sub 200 is under £1000, however I was lucky and managed to snag one at the 'Christmas Sale' price of £1640, a reduction of over £1K. Couldn't pass it up at that price.
That Grand Seiko on your wrist! Wow!
Nice video Teddy.
If I may, it appears that you've missed mentioning brand a German brand that specializes mainly in chronographs.
That's HANHART.
