    1 The Amazing Dial
    At the first view on the watch you realize that there is something that stands out. Exactly, The amazing Dial.
    The blue dial stands out with its horizontal “teak” pattern inspired by the wooden decks found on luxury sailboats. The communication of tranquility, a feeling of being grounded, is emphasized by the smoothly domed sapphire crystal held in place by a highly polished bezel.
    2 The Master Movement
    The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra has been equipped with Omega’s in-house caliber 8500 since 2008. In 2013, however, Omega took a revolutionary step by creating a watch-no-a movement capable of resisting magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss.
    While some considered in nonsense, it has actually proven to be an important feature.
    In the modern world, we deal with a lot of magnetic fields in everyday life, from security equipment at airports to objects much closer to home.
    3 Case and bracelet
    Ok so now we’ve talked about the amazing dial and the Movement of the Aqua Terra, the next point is very interesting, especially for those who are planning to wear the watch daily.
    Not only the movement changed though, the case of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra also received an update.
    Perhaps you could say the biggest or most notable upgrade since its introduction. Not only did the teak dial changed a bit (horizontal teak pattern instead of vertical), also the case design changed. The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra now has a symmetrical case (compare the cases by looking at the side of the crown), a new (conical) crown and available on special rubber straps as you can see on this one.
    4 Selection and Price
    Nowadays a watch has become so much more than just a timekeeper.
    Omega has, as I said before, a couple of watch families like the Seamaster, Speedmaster, Constellation, and De Ville - some of them are split into quite a few sub-collections. From this model, the Seamaster Aqua Terra, there are up to 4.000 listings, with all the variations and sizes, on chrono24.
    5 High Prestige
    Ok let’s go on with point number 5. Many see the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra as a very good alternative to other famous models, for example the Rolex Datejust or the Explorer.
    But if you look at the History of the Seamaster and facts that are linked especially to this model line, then you will realize that the Seamaster line is full of prestige and so more than just an alternative.

      You are one lucky guy. This watch is great looking, functional and well priced, just like the author says. I've bought three Omegas in the period 1995-2005. They are all very high quality, but the newer models have better features like the see thru crystal back and colorful but conservative dials. A mistake I made is buying two chronographs. Now after having them for years, I have no need for this feature. I'd rather have one chronograph and two non-chronographs. I need that one chronograph, because I'm a time traveler. :)

    I paid $5400 new at the boutique(2022), I was treated like a king, I got an immaculate box and leather card holder, and the watch itself, which is glorious. I went in to buy a Planet Ocean, I walked out with the Silver dial AT. It is masculine but elegant, and every facet of detail draws the eye. I can't stop touching it, or looking at it. Even the tip of the Hour hand is beveled so it catches light, the indices shimmer like glints of treasure beneath the surface of the crystal ocean it lives in. It is stunning and beautiful, but rugged and masculine, understatedly so. I've never even seen an Omega in real life before, but I am smitten. The design aesthetic the company has just clicks for my style and the substance of how I wish to express myself. I see a watch box filled with vintage and contemporary Omega's in my future.

    I'd say this watch is one of the best. I've had the Seamaster Pro, Tudor BB etc but Aqua Terra is just different. It fits anything and is very comfy with the rubber band (also the band looks really nice with all the detail it has). It was hard to find one used tho, I spent like a month and after then had to negotiate with a used dealer to get the price down a bit. Found one private seller but after talking with him he decided he doesn't even want to sell it since the watch is so nice. Might have paid a bit more than I wanted to but the watch is so nice I'm very likely going to keep it for a long while. Paid 4 560eur with rubber + leather for the blue AT41 (2020).

      @@KennyVo120 I wear it when I travel and when I want to wear a watch that I don't need to care about too much. Yes, absolutely worth it, you get a lot of watch for your money, if you look at all of its specs. Note that back in 2010 even the smaller size (38.5mm) had the 8500 calibre with two mainspring barrels and the travel function, ie independently adjustable hour hand which I think is a great feature. Nowadays you get the 8500/8900 only in the 41mm AT, the smaller ones have the 8800 which has a single barrel and a quick set date instead of a travel function. Comparing it to the Datejust, the AT is superior in almost every aspect imo. When it comes to value retention, I could sell mine for almost exactly what I paid in 2010 according to Chrono24. So I can really recommend this model.

    I love this watch, but I feel like the hour hand should have the arrow. That’s where my eye needs to go. And the polished centerlinks are disappointing. Love the dial, case, indices, second hand, movement, anti-magneticism, date location. Just gorgeous.

    What's the weight of this watch? It would be nice to know how much the difference is between the 41 and the 38 mm version. I like the look of this model, but I don't like wearing a heavy watch.

    I am confused between the aqua terra blue dial with bracelet and the rolex date just 41mm blue dial. Both have it it’s positive and negative. Do I want to spend a lot of money for the rolex ??-no, but do I want the omega instead and lose resale value in future? it’s a hard gamble... need advice .

    I have a qustion about a Omega Aqua Terra 8900. I purchase a brand new one from the grey market and I love it... However I find it really hard to unscrew / screw the crown and when winding it up it's hard as well. Let's just say it has much resistance, The watch keeps great time so I don't believe there is any thing wrong. Has anyone esle experience this?

    I could have an Omega for everyday of the week. This one is really a beauty but suffers comparison to the Oyster perpetual and the datejust, although both cost twice the price and require much more service for a movement that isnt of the same quality. Grand Seiko also has a nice piece on this segment

    • @valentinhoerzer
      @valentinhoerzer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Daniel Brice seeing as some people might actually WEAR a watch, not just thinking about reselling it before even buying it this hardly makes sense … plus: the AT can be had with discounts in the thousands whereas u really won’t get a DJ for those claimed 6500 dollars…. So you’ll end up with about twice the price indeed !

    Thanks for the informative review. Only thing that concerns me is the durability of the rubber strap after some years of use. Is it possible to buy replacements or spares? If so, do you know the cost of these (can’t see anything on omega website)?

    • @antoinemozart243
      @antoinemozart243 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The durability of the rubber strap is incredible. It is more reliable than a leather strap and has absolutely not the rubber look. It is absolutely stunning. I know, I owe one ! This is why Omega make nearly perfect watches. They are so concerned by the details and the durability. Even the white stitches on the rubber look brand new after several years. I think the rubber strap is the most stunning strap that Omega has ever made for a watch.
