Hi. Just a note about the M50 and remote functions... I believe I have been able to control most functions of it with my Ronin RS2. A bit of an overkill of a Gimbal for such a little camera, but works great. Even focus after the latest firmware update. Cheers!
Oh that's good to know! So it can be done, just not with the Crane M3.. I'm sure that RS2 is a great gimbal, but I get what you mean about overkill. Thanks for your input on this! 🥂
@@AMAETV I found the compatibility list in DJI's web site but I can't include the link here. But I confirmed all functions are available with the RS2. Cheers!
FYI. I am also able to control M50 MKII functions via USB with the SCORP-C, so it’s definitely a weakness of the M3, which appears to only play well with Sony Cameras ATM. The M3 I bought also got stuck in an infinite sleep loop after one day of use despite being updated to the latest firmware and a factory reset. This is apparently a known issue. It was returned. Although not as small as the M3, the SCORP-C is a much more capable gimbal IMO and over $100 cheaper to boot. Perhaps you could do a comparison video. 🤔
I have the M3 pro w/ the microphone and it is amzing. I have balanced my 16mm on my m50 mach2 and yes it was a challange but patiance pays off. Also the 56mm is a great choice. I am still trying to figure out the nuances but your video was very helpful well done and thank you
Thanks for this honest review I watched a couple of other Vlogs and they weren’t fully transparent about the crane. So I will be purchasing this Gimbal going forward if you have the time and effort please do a separate video of how to fully balance the M 50 with the sigma 16mm because that is the set up I currently have. Thanks
Just got the M3. Shoot a lot of photos but want to get into video and only wanted one gimbal for phone, crop bodies and occasionally FF Sony. Just getting the hang of the modes and trying to keep in on subject has been a bit tough
Hello Alicia, would like to see comparison with DJI Ronin SC. Which one is better for kids. And can you use them with external mic in underslung mode. Thank you
Great video!! Have been watching your m50 content since a few months😃 I was using my earphones and your voice was louder in my left earpiece than the right one.
Thanks Joey! I'm not sure why that is.. but I do know I still have a LOT to learn about audio. I will have to sound check that next time. So glad you've enjoyed the M50 content!
@@AMAETV I'm not an audio-pro myself either, haha. It's probably just a setting that needs some adjusting during export. Again, thanks for the content. Just bought the Sigma 16mm too with some help from your videos. Cheers!
Very nice demo, thumbs up for this video. I got my M3 when you first presented it (and did not have it yet) I got the pro version, which was not really necessary. The intermediate would have been perfect, but ok.. thats life. But i only started to love my M3 when zhiyun sent me the dedicated quick release plate for the m50. The advantage is: you can change sdcard and battery without having to unscrew the plate from the camera. You can also use a dummy battery and a power bank... This is not possible with the standard quick release plate as it covers the battery opening. As to the microphone in the pro kit, it comes with a spiral cable which is not great, (as those generally are not well shielded) get yourself a professional microphone cable and you will have much better results. Or just record your sound like Alicia showed us 2 videos ago with your phone or other field recorder. Finally, Alicia, it seems you had the starter kit, the main difference is the tripod that is much more robust with the 2 bigger kits (medium and pro) (What does although speak in favor of the pro, is that they said, they were going to release a bluetooth adaptor, (you will need the pro for that one) It will probably be usable with canon M50. Like i said, I am now very happy with it... (allthough i dont need the microphone.. ) Luc
Wow that's all so great to hear! Thanks for sharing your experiences with the pro kit. I'd love to try out that M50 plate too. I'm so glad to hear it has worked out for you. That Bluetooth adapter sounds interesting too.. the adventures of discovering the Crane M3 has only begun so I will keep an eye out for that. Happy shooting!
I haven't tried it but I'm fairly sure it's not a good idea.. this gimbal is built for smaller cameras and the EOS R is just too solid. I love to use my EOS R with the Zhiyun Weebill S!
Hey great video as always! I’m trying to figure out how to mount my wireless mic receiver that I usually put in the cold shoe on my M50. If the view finder hits the gimbal then the receiver will definitely hit right? It’s not as small as the wireless go either it’s a bit bigger. So you mentioned the expansion port on my M3 and I looked at the links but wasn’t sure which one had a cold shoe mount that I could use to mount the receiver. I hope this make some sense. Basically I just want a cold shoe mount on the gimbal, which link that you listed would be the best for that? Thanks 🙏
Do you find the wire linking the mic input to the receiver on the expansion port gets in the way of the gimbal? Especially when you triple tap to turn the camera around? I’ve been trying it with the mic on top to get around this but then it makes it easier to bang the top by the viewfinder 🤦🏻♀️
So sorry I missed all these questions! Yes I do find the wire annoying, but I don't know how else the audio could work. Perhaps it's better to keep the mic attached to the camera- if not the cold shoe then somewhere else on the body? I will test in my next balancing video.. As for the triple tap, you could always try turning the gimbal around manually instead. I do this sometimes because then I can keep the screen facing in one direction and see it when I'm pointing the camera on myself or on someone else.
Awesome video thank you Alicia, thank you. I am planning to buy M3 for my canon m50 but im also thinking of Crane 2s but my only concern is that the function of button of crane 2s might not work well with Canon M50. Have anyone of you here tried using Crane 2s with canon m50 and sigma 16mm? are all the function buttons working well? Thank you
Nice video . I have allways used feiyutech gimbals this gimbal looks really interesting. Its very compact perfect for taking on mounatin bike rides when you want to be light as possible.
Hello guys, Someone has been able to balance the Zv-e10 + Sigma 16mm + ND filter on? I've balanced it perfectly just with the lense, but once I put the ND filter on it's been impossible. I'd appreciate your help.
Dear Zhiyun can you please put custom follow speed and Deadband settings on this gimbal... because as it is on its lowest settings it still looks jerky on video...
Hi Alicia. Nice informative video. I've not had the same experience with the M3 and i think the unit i had was a bit oversensitive and errored out despite lots of rebalancing. However i have a few questions i hope you can help with. 1. Did you connect your Rode wireless go to the additional quarter 20 thread on the gimbal because of balancing problems having the rode receiver on top of the M50? 2. Having the receiver where you placed it with the flexi cable. did this give you any movement / balance issues for the gimbal that would cause an error out? 3. As most of your footage was with M50 and Sigma 16mm, did you find a solution for improving the audio (not relying on inbuilt audio) and was it only by placing the Rode receiver on the gimbal not the camera hotshoe Thanks for your replies in advance. Ray
Hey Ray! Happy to help.... 1. Not necessarily, I'm sure it could be balanced with the Rode receiver on top but it makes it all a bit more limiting and awkward. Having it OFF the camera just makes things easier. 2. It was definitely tricker to operate with the cable attached, and if I didn't have it balanced perfectly it would get angry and shut itself off. I think the trick is to give the cable as much flexible space as possible.. 3. Yes the only way to improve audio is to use a mic, and I only tried it attached to the gimbal (not the hot shoe) I think many ppl still have a lot of questions about balancing this all together so I'm going to create a full detailed balancing video soon. Please let me know if you have any more questions so I can cover them :)
@@AMAETV Hey Alicia. Many thanks for your replies. Much appreciated. I repurchased the M3 and the unit I have now seems less sensitive so that's good. It's very definitely having issues with weight when you use the Sigma 16mm but I'm not surprised as it is heavy. I guess we all want to push the boundaries to see what it can handle and with all of the accessories on the camera as opposed to having the Rode on the gimbal just pushes it towards irritability. Look forward to your comprehensive video on balancing. Thanks for responding. Stay safe and well. Ray@ Ray and Sue's Travel Channel.
So there is no bluetooth adapter for canons to allow shutter controls through the gimbal? It says on their website to get bluetooth adapter but its not available. B&h said send it back and get ronin sc to have camera (shutter) controls through the gimbal. I shoot barbering content and would like the controls to be through the gimbal. I'm torn
Oh interesting! I haven't looked into the bluetooth adapter solution yet, but it makes sense. Overall there is very little info out there about this.. it's good to know the Ronin can make it work.
Love the M3, works wonder with my full frame Sony a7C, and there’s plenty of lenses it can balance, I run the Tamron 17-28mm, which is a good size. I would recommend using GO mode for vlogging (walkie-talkie), I find the default Pan Follow is not as natural.
Another question (sorry) - when you pop it in your messenger bag like that, do you leave the axis unlocked or is it best to lock them when popping it away? x
Good question! I think I was unable to lock the axis and still fit it in the bag. Locking them seems like the right thing to do, but on the other hand if they are locked they are more easily broken if the gimbal does get pushed on a bit. Whereas if they are fluid the gimbal could move with the motion.. if that makes sense. I'm SO terrible at keeping my gear packed up properly, but on the other hand the essence of vlogging is sometimes throwing gear back in the bag and moving onto the next thing! I always laugh when I see pro camera guys carry that one camera backpack with everything stored properly.. and here I am carrying 10 bags of various things and hoping my gear fits in somewhere 😆 #momlife
I’m the same, stuff everywhere! 😂 Thanks for the input about the gimbal. I was thinking the fluid motion may make it less likely to break. I’d be interested to hear your feedback on this once you’ve been on days out with it more. I’m planning to use it on an upcoming Disneyland Paris trip but need some less high stakes practice trips first
