Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.

Both the supremes of technicality and precision, especially in those ascending runs. Mariah is of course a legend in her own league, I'm always so captivated by the artistry in her runs. Tori is a beast among the current singers as well. Love love loveee!

I always said Tori Kelly has that Mariah essence to her singing.

One of the very few mainstream vocalists of this generation, whose agility is reminiscent of Mariah's.) ✨

You are absolutely right about Mariah ! This female performer had the ability to send signals to your ear drums and make your brain liquid from the awesomeness you just heard ! I only met three women capable of doing this . Mariah of course , Whitney Houston and Celine Dion . Worthy to mention also two ladies from the Philippines , that made my knees lose , Morissette Amon and Katrina Velarde !

Tori Kelly has some of the most insane runs I've ever heard. Mariah Carey of course is one of the best singers of all time but Tori Kelly's runs are a force of nature.
Riffs and Runs are something that Mariah had to work very hard on. Tori is talented in it, Mariah is skilled in it. Mariah is best known for her adlibs and perfect timing. She never disrespects the melody like a lot of other singers do (too much).

The creativity and innovation of Mariah's runs, melismas and riffs, plus how perfectly they complement the melody, is what sets her apart from everyone else in that department. Plus that amazing unique tone and resonance. Oh and her flawless, inhuman transitions between registers. 👌👌👌

Tori Kelly : a good young voice still developing ! Mariah Carey : We are talking about a female vocalist that cannot be compared with any other common female vocalist . In her prime she was THE voice , known even in the most isolated parts of the world . One of the greatest performers ever walked on earth . Her tone was very distinguished , you couldn't mistaken her for someone else . To me whoever want to know Mariah as a voice must listen "my all" .

Mariah's voice is definitely special and like no other. Even with her nodules, she's managed to maintain most of her beautiful voice.
I love Mariah's voice when she was in her 20s. She sounds so clear and smooth.

@@gurpalsingh946 they aren't... i have them and it just helps me to sing better actually... like some people suffer pain and some learn how to use their nodules in order to sound even better. mariah is one of the latter

@@beiuwvbuiowa6892 Most of Mariah's riffs and runs are so fast you will never realize how many notes she's hit unless the video or audio is slowed down. They may be sounding easy to copy, but Mariah's riffs and runs are the hardest to imitate. They are that complex.
I'm not saying that Tori's are not that hard, but there are a lot of covers that literally hers were imitated by the singers perfectly.
So, yes, I also think Mariah Carey is the empress of riffs and runs.

Its not damaged or ruined its just changed and deteriorated over time and that’s completely normal for someone who sang for 30 years. She can still support and resonate up to like D5/Eb5(occasionally E5 or higher)

The song you didn't know was part of the medley of If Only You Knew and Over The Rainbow by Patti Labelle and sung as a tribute for her. I agree that You And I was a bit much at this very end, but she pretty much sang it like Stevie (well, she added a whistle) and it worked in context of a more subdued beginning.
Both these tributes are thought to be some of her all time best performances by the lambily.

The song in the beginning of the video that Mariah was singing that you didn't know was "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." She was doing her interpretation of Patti Labelle's version of the song. It's why they show Patti standing up and clapping for Mariah in the video.
That last performance of Mariah where she's singing Visio of Love is the single greatest live vocal performance I've ever witnessed. A close second is Whitney's Greatest Love of All at the Arista Anniversary.
That last clip was fantastic. I had to watch several times!
