i think comparing these two just comes down to whose stylistic choices you like better. For me personally, Ariana. I like light voices better.
True! Demi is more raw, chesty and piercing while Ariana is more soft, light and agile
I think it also depends on the song too, like Ariana sings songs like good night and go and raindrops perfectly because of her angel voice, but her voice probably wouldn't suit stone cold and skyscraper.

I feel like Demi is queen of mid belts. She’s never consistent with high belts but she never fails to impress with mid belts
Sobrevivência Primitiva ariana is techniqually better than demi but go off i guess lol. demi shouts her notes often, has a VERY unhealthy / unnatural vibrato, SKY HIGH larynx on belts and a very undeveloped headvoice / falsetto while ariana has NONE of these problems. demi has had the same vocal technique for YEARS without improving at all while ariana improves in fact, EVERY year. demi’s supported range has always been up to C#5 while ariana could support E5s before. ariana’s supported range later got down to C#5, then to C5, then to Bb4, then it got up to B4 and now, very soon up to C5 / C#5 again. ariana has started supporting C5s and C#5s which she hasn’t done AT ALL since 2013. not to mention, ariana’s EASE for high notes. it’s out of this world. demi has ease but not the ease ariana got and ESPECIALLY not the textura. anyway, to sum up my lil ”ted talk”, demi and ariana are pretty equal, just that ariana is SLIGHTLY better. facts. u can check every vocal source or vocal critic.

I really enjoy your videos but this video confused me as you gave Demi the point over Ariana for not doing the “R” correctly and then in the next video Demi did the same thing and you still gave her the point over Ari. You also gave Demi points where she was clearly strained and throaty and Ariana sang clearly and with better technique. I know Ariana was the winner here but she still should’ve taken some of the higher belts for the win.
In my opinion it isn't true, Demi in this year improved more her technique and used her neutral larynx and she has a better technique. And all Ariana's fans say that she is better in belts but a lot of notes go to Demi and also some notes go for Ari.

I think now Demi surpass ariana. But I remember in 2014/15/16 that Demi's high notes were really strained.
demi isn’t beating ariana in belts sweetie. they’re equal but ariana is a tiny bit better. demi literally SCREAMS her belts sometimes, has a very unatural / unhealthy vibrato and has a VERY high larynx on her higher belts while ariana does / has none of these things. ariana improves all the time and has started to support C5s and C#5s which she hasn’t supported since 2013 while demi has had the same technique for around 7-8 years now lol. there’s a lot more things ariana is better with in belts and a lot more problems demi has but they’re kinda equal anyway, just that ariana is a lil bit better.
it also helps that naturally Ariana has just a higher octave to her speaking voice whereas Demi doesn't. The higher your speking voice usually that translate to singing. Tke Bruno Mars, sings high and his speaking voice is pretty high too.

needystoessel Exactly!! Demi was flat and pulled up chest voice to make an attempt at hitting the note. Ari’s voice and vowels were open and effortlessly executed. I was stunned by her choice. Ari def should have had more points. Demi belts were mostly strained and pulling up of the chest. Hardly any mixing going on with her. 🤷🏾♂️

It wasn't flat but it was off key like she includes the off key note in the original studio version as well. This vocal coach probably doesn't know the song so she thought it was flat.
Well there are better clip for both of them, but honestly belting wise, for my knowledge, Ariana is a little bit better in upper belts, I mean from G5/G#5 and above. She isn’t superior, but has a better mix overall and for sure I wouldn’t consider Demi far superior in belting, because she isn’t.I rather would consider them on the same league because there is something that Demi has and Ariana doesn’t have, and vice versa. I really enjoyed your video, but for me, maybe I’m wrong, I have the sensation that you don’t like Ariana that much, I tend to see this also in other video of yours, just for being clear It’s your opinion and I can’t change it, but there is more of Ariana that I really love and I think it could improve your opinion of her as an artist, not a singer
Your opinion, not for everyone is the same, it’s a subjective opinion.
Demi's G5 and A5 are better and Ariana's G#5 and Bb5 are better. And Demi has a better technique but yes, they have things where Demi is better and others that Ariana is better. I prefer Demi.
Montse 99 generally Ariana for me in terms of technique is a little bit better in upper belts, like I said she is more consistent and she a better mix over all, so after F#5/G5 I would give the point to Ariana. But for a preference of mine in terms of technique

This vocal battle video was made by a Demi fan, Ariana upper belting range is actualy insane, if you pick an "Problem" or "Focus" performance, they can easily beat Demi's upper belts, but they pick some of the baddest Ari's notes..
Ariana's belting range WAS insaying , (back in 2015 honeymoon tour especially), but now she rarely goes beyond G5 (she maybe hit an A5 once or twice on camera from 2017 to the present day) and it was for 1 or 2 secs max. In recent years I would say demi has produced better,more powerful,sustained, resonant and more frequent G#5s, A5s and A#5s then Ari, Demi has multipe A5s in her studio recordings so she's required to execute them more frequently. Demi has even had Bb5s and B5s in the last 2 years but she struggles with them live. However on the head voice falsetto area, range wise, Ari is becoming unmatched.
Demos clips aren't great, they're hard to hear 😂. Not a great fan then 🤷♂️

The thing of it is, their voices are SO different. Ariana naturally has a lighter smoother voice and will probably never carry as much weight up the scale. She also is a very controlled singer and I think she makes good choices for her voice. This made me appreciate Demi more but I am not a fan of belt in general, it could potentially destroy her voice. She won't be as light and airy as Ariana on top, she has a heavier voice overall. this was fun to watch though!

Thank you for mentioning how much easier it is to 'run' or slide into certain notes rather than jump tricky intervals especially with key changes or without lead instrumental guidance for a key change.
There are definitely clips here that do not match difficulty or quality for direct comparison and pointing that out is really fair, Miss Honest Georgina 💜😉😗🎶

if i was the vocal coach, i would definitely choose ariana. it’s WAY clearer than demi’s. i felt that demi’s was a bit touch strained, but thats demi’s style. overall, it’s her opinion. demi’s resonance is AMAZING! ariana’s belt is also STUNNING. i just think demi needs to improve in head voice because ariana kills her head voice. in my opinion, ariana’s A5 was way better. just a touch strained is demi’s style. demi’s a5 was also amazing.

In my personal opinion
Lows-Demi. Ari has gotten a LIT better with her lows but Demi almost always gets them and I usually like her tone better. That’s mostly cause she has a chestier technique than Ari.
Mid Belts-Demi. Demi’s mid belts have more tone and quality to them. Again mostly cause of her chestier approach. Ari has too high of a tessitura for her to have really powerful mid belts although she does do well in them just not as good as Demi imo.
High Belts- Ari. Neither have very good technique in the area but the thing puts Ari above most people with her high belts imo is her EASE. She make a G sound like an E. Her ease is absolutely INSANE and few can beat her just cause her notes are so pleasant because they come so easily with little to no force most of the time. Demi can have some great moments but a lot of the time I find her high notes very nasally (more so than Ari’s) and they can be unpleasant to listen to even if they’re on pitch.
Falsetto-Ari. Demi does okay with falsetto but that’s Ari’s thing.
Head Voice-Ari. Demi doesn’t have very good control in this area. Ari Ian the best but she’s a little better than Demi.
Vocal Creativity-Ari. Demi has some creative moments but Ari rarely gives the same performance twice. She always changes things up mostly just cause she gets bored doing the same things all the time. Also she’s EXTRA.
Resonance-Both. Demi for mid belts Ari for high belts and head voice. (Falsettos can’t REALLY resonate since they’re not connected to the rest of your voice, neither can whistles.) The mid belts again are because of Ari’s tessitura. She has some REALLY resonant high notes though (Focus at the AMAs and Problem at Caesar’s Palace to name a few).
Control-Ari. Ari rarely goes off pitch especially now a days and she can easily switch her voice from one place to another (see every time she’s switched from belting to head voice in Bang Bang in pretty much less than a second). Demi has more examples of her being off and not because she was sick.
Runs and Riffs- Ari. Riffs connect to control. I’ve heard more examples of Demi’s riffs being messy than Ari’s. Ari also has done a lot of challenging riffs as written in parts of her music. More so than Demi has. (Only 1)
Vibrato-Ari. I find that Demi doesn’t use vibrato as much and when she does it’s a tremolo and is forced.
Again these are all just personal opinions of what I’ve heard. I am a huge fan of Ari’s but I also love Demi and do not have a bias towards either one of them. This is just what I personally think and like.

Demi dosent have a deeper voice. They both sopranos. Demis voice is just full soprano voice. Ariana has a light soprano voice .so the power and agility is different.

Both are excellent artists. I honestly prefer Ari but Demi is sooo good as well. The only thing that annoyed me from this video, is that GIRL hating on Ari lmao... I mean she literally *listens to 1 second of Ari clip* and already gives a point to Demi lmao. Also she sometimes says “this note was awful” and stuff when 1. It’s beautiful 2. techniqually, demi isn’t better than ariana. i mean it’s YOUR opinion but in fact, she isn’t. demi shouts her notes often, has a VERY unhealthy / unnatural vibrato, SKY HIGH larynx on belts and a undeveloped headvoice / falsetto while ariana has NONE of these problems. demi has had the same vocal technique for YEARS without improving at all while ariana improves in fact, EVERY year. demi’s supported range has always been up to C#5 while ariana could support E5s before. ariana’s supported range later got down to C#5, then to C5 and then to Bb4. then it got up to B4 and now, very soon up to C5 / C#5 again. ariana has started supporting C5s and C#5s which she hasn’t done AT ALL since 2013. not to mention, ariana’s EASE for high notes. it’s out of this world. demi has ease but not the ease ariana got and ESPECIALLY not the textura. anyway, to sum up my lil ”ted talk”, demi and ariana is pretty equal, just that ariana is SLIGHTLY better. facts. u can check every vocal source or vocal critic.

@SlayMe Lovato Falsetto is also disconnected from chest voice, head voice is not. I think many people use the terms "falsetto" and "head voice" interchangeably even though they're not technically the same thing creating a lot of confusion.
@Amore Arusko They are the same mode (M2), but one is disconnected (falsetto) one is not (head voice). From what I understand, making m2 a connected sound takes more skill that just singing in an airy, disconnected falsetto for most people.

To be perfectly honest when you say X person goes staright to the note and Y person doesn't...well that's the song, they can't just go staright to the note in question. And when you say "oh demi was a little strained but that's her style option it's OK" but then just some clips before you said that Ariana was breathy and gave the point to demi. Adding breath to her voice is Ari's style choice as well but now for some reason it's negative...

12:08 wasn't flat, it was sharp by a quarter tone btw
@@HonestVocalCoach I played the note G#5 on a piano and tested it against the note sung in the video slowed down to 0.5 speed. It was a little sharper than a G#5, and she's supposed to sing a centred G#5. But it wasn't sharp enough to be an A5 nor was it flat :)
Edit: actually I correct myself. It so sharp that it is an A5 at the notes peak.
