I have an Ender 3V2 with the 4.2.2 board (no BLtouch) and have come up with a 4.2.7 board which I understand must have the firmware updated. Your methodical, step-by-step explanation in clear language as usual made me feel much more confident before I dive in. Saved me a lot of grief and headache!

Did you get a v4.2.2 or v4.2.7 motherboard? it should be .7, but some people are getting .2 which have overheating issues in long prints which lead to shifts

@@vynz0789 I have only had shifting happen once and I think the cause was me bumping the table lol
@@nicholastanzola488 not sure if the USB port means you have 4.2.2 vs 4.2.7. you'd have to look at the board like his video shows to pick firmware version. if youre not having issue with shifting, then carry on! dont look for issues that aren't there. Good luck!
Thank you so much for this video! I hopped around a couple of different articles and this is the one that helped me. A couple of other videos included updates to the display as well. Is that optional or why was that step not needed here? Everything seems to be working fine but I am curious as to why some included that and others didn't.
This was super useful! Thanks so much! However, there's one major change that you should be aware of. Creality has changed their firmware download page significantly, and their files are all stored in Google Drive folders. It's much more confusing, and needs a bit more explanation for a beginner to navigate through successfully.
Also wondering with the chip difference between the stm32 and gd32, can you use the same fw? Been trying to find an answer to this one, but no luck other than compiling.

Yeah. Yeah, it's making me want to forget the FW upgrade. This is a bit much.
This is one of the easier devices to upgrade the mainboard firmware on.
If you switch to a version that stores your settings in EEPROM, take note of any customization before upgrading.
Display firmware is a bit trickier.

Great video, thank you. Any idea what firmware we would pick if we wanted to add a filament runout detector AFTER adding the BLTouch?
Well, you can see version of your mainboard without removing the cover, but it is pain in something. Some light source with filament guidance would be very useful to lit the interior of that box and expect to train your eye on focusing through the slits so narrow that they have lens effect = image distortion.
Anyway, many thanks - clarity of the video made me to subscribe. Excellent job!
With some trouble you can look trough the slits in the bottom to find the version. not easy but doable if you dont want to open te printer (the version is behind the first slit right of the fan openings)

Coincidentally I was just cleaning up a submission to Marlin that makes various improvements for the Ender 3 V2 display. Maybe these changes will end up in a future Creality firmware update.

I've been watching your videos concerning the Ender 3 v2 that I purchased one of my own.
Now the problem is with Creality website does not seem to be operational as all of their 'Contact' drop-down results in "There has been a critical error on this website."
No access to firmware updates. SOL once again.

Hi John! For some reason Creality has that download link on its forum site, and as you noticed, it seems to be down. Meanwhile, I found another set of firmware download links on Creality's site, which are hosted on Google Drive. See if these have what you need: www.creality3dofficial.com/pages/firmware-download
Also, you might give JyersUI a try, instead of the stock Creality firmware. I've released a couple of videos about it recently.

Followed this process exactly. It bricked my printer. Haven't done a single print on it yet and I already gotta try and fight with Creality to get an RMA.
Can't say my initial impressions of this machine are great...
I thought the same happened to me, I fixed it by formatting a different card and only having the one file on it, I probably put it in the printer 10 different times before it registered and gave me my screen back

I know 3d printers are made to be thinkable but having to take the cover off to see the board version is poor on creality part
thank You for the clear guide, but i would like remind the others that you may need to update to version 1.0.4 first, then update screen, then only you will be able to update to the latest version 1.1.2 (2021-March)
Would have been nice to see a list of improvements this upgrade gives at the beginning, I'm a firm believer in 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' , what benefits does this give?
I'd love to see that, too. Maybe someday Creality will include changelogs with their firmware releases. That said, I'm sure it fixed SOMEthing. I just don't know what. 👍

@@BV3D It allows you to SAVE your E-Step Calibration now. Before, you would have to re-enter it every time you turned your Ender 3 on.

Just got my ender 3v2! was hearing this NEEDs to be done but needed a updated guide WHAT ABOUT other firmware's? Its agood idea to makesure the board fan is always on, I heard that thermal protection isnt on by default,
Thanks for simplifying your video, but one issue, my ender 3 Pro has a board V1.1.2 32 bit, I downloaded the software into the printer, screen turned blue and came back, did not fix my issues, also the about printer says V1.1.2-4.25.20?? not sure what to do next?
have an issue after replaing a broken 4.2.2 board. now during a skirt print theres a noticable stop jump to the next line. it used to be seamless pretty much..

I installed a bltouch and updated the firmware but once it auto homes for the z and x axis, the bltouch goes in and out a couple of times but z axis isn't moving... I installed the correct firmware on it but I don't know how to fix it...
what if there were other files on the card as well? can that cause an error? because my printer seems bricked

Hi i just installed the sprite pro on my ender 3v2 and did the firmware updates for the sprite main board ans screen and now it seems like its not printing the g code. It just heats up starts to center and stops. Then the percentage bar finnishes at 100%
you should look at smith firmware way better than the stock updated firmware, has auto xyz leveling and much much more.
Hello I put the sd chip in with only the bin file and it didn't work at first and then I tried reformsting again like you said but it's still staying on the reboot scrren.
Been trying to update my firmware on an Ender 3 V2. It gets stuck on the creality logo. Recently put in a replacement 4.2.7 board. Also tried renaming the .bin file. Also watched several other videos and some of them mentioned a DWIN_SET folder which isn't included in any of the downloads I tried. Edit: should also mention that I'm not using a BLTouch
Hi, I have an ender 3 v2 with bl touch & the 4,2,7 board. Have just uploaded the latest firmware & when we go to check the info it shows that it now has the latest firmware but the printer does nothing, doesn't auto home, autu bed level, nothing. What did we do wrong ?

My cover doesn't come off. I took out the screws but its still stuck on one side where a screw used to be

I need help!!?? After I slice a project and load it on the SD card and try to print it. My printer won’t read the card. It worked one time and I printed it fine. It’ll print the rabbit and little boat fine that’s on the card. What am I doing wrong?? I’ve tried both Cura and Creality Slicer software. 🤷♂️
Out of the box my printer has a firmware version V1.0.4 but the bin files in the firmware updates for the Ender 3 V2 say V1.0.2, should I still use that file
My stock Ender-3 V2 has version 1.0.1, is that normal or my printer is an early model?

I update it but there isn't a blank screen in the process, and still shows a version of 1.0.2. Does that mean the upgrade failed?

My board is 4.2.2 - I feel like I should update to the latest one which is "Marlin-2.0.1-BL-Touch-V1.3.1(with adapter board)" - but i have no idea what that means.
i have had some issues with this, like when people say the LCD should go black then blue then orange, mine goes blue, shows the files installing and then turns back to normal once installed BUT then i get stuck on the Creality Screen with nothing else showing up... its been stuck like this for since i first updated it and i cant fix it... any suggestions?
Please dear god help me. How does one verify the right firmware is on the printer? Inserting my sd with one single .bin file (ender 3 v2 firmware and bltouch update) results i nabsolutely nothing. Firmware version is still 1.0.4 instead of 1.2.2. Card was already formatted as an fat32 so please someone help a brother out

I'm confused. When you got done with the upgrade and looked at the firmware it still said 1.0.2 !! Why doesn't it show the new version?

You also need to update the screen DWIN folder. And you have to disconnect the powercord after it. Then make sure there is no unallocated partition on the card and its formatted to Fat32. Then you copy the bin to the card and there must be just that file on the card.

Hey Bryan, I hope you are well. I am running a 4.2.2 board with the most recent firmware. The issue I am seeing with this version is when I make adjustments to settings such then go and press "Storage configuration, it's not storing and saving the settings. The only way the settings save is when there is an SD card in the printer but it is storing the settings to the SD card rather than the printer. Is there another way to store the settings to the printer that I am missing or do you know if Creality is going to be putting out a new firmware to fix this?

Hi, Bryan I recently came across a printer that made me raise my eyebrows, its made by Voxelab and is called Aquila, it's very similar to an Ender 3 V2 but with a much better screen and GUI, and to top it off it comes with $100 off for a retail price of just $179, a few people have reviewed it and were blown away by it, maybe you could ask Voxelab to send one for a review?
Hi, any idea why a printer will not see the firmware in the file? I tried flashing the card many times, different cards, etc. the reader works as I am still able to see models in other cards. I have version 1.0.4, 422 board. Thank you!

I couldn't get my Ender 3 v2 GD to read the .BIN file from the FAT 32 SD 4096byte card. When I turn it on, it just boot to the normal screen without updating the firmware. How can I get my system to read the .Bin file?
Much easier than updating previous ender 3's, unless of course you installed a skr E3 mini V2.. 😉
