    Hi Peter, thank you so much for sharing this! I tried this method to tune my stock 600mm .22 M3 to shoot fx hybrid slugs. I have the barrel on slug port, and using your method I'm up to 130 on the 2nd reg pushing 935ft/s for the hybrids. I have the valve adjuster 4,5 turns after 4th line, and macro on 10. This feels excessive to me? I probably screwed something up... Any suggestions for this newbie?

    • @VikingAirgunner
      @VikingAirgunner  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bastiaan
      My experience is only with 177 so I will try not to sound like a professor here 😃
      Which velocity are the best for the Hybrids that you are using?
      Generally bigger calibers are using higher reg preasures and with the 600 mm barrel it also requires more reg🙂
      So 130 might not be far off.

    • @bastiaanschaap
      @bastiaanschaap หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VikingAirgunner Thank you so much for your answer! I've looked around on the different forums to find a velocity for the.22 fx hybrids, but there's quite a variety in results people get. From what I found best performance is in the range from 915-930 fps. With 930 fps I got a 8mm group at 25 meters. I saw your video about the Huma high-flow slug/pellet probe which I want to try as well to 'tune things down' a bit.

    • @VikingAirgunner
      @VikingAirgunner  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@bastiaanschaap Knowing that the potential of the Hybrids are within that range helps alot. And even after finding the perfect velocity it can easily change anyway. So a good start👍
      Next step is to tune the gun so that the absolute maximum speed will be 30-40 fps faster than that, so perhaps 970 fps. After that use the power wheel to hit around 945 fps and then use the front valve down to 930 fps. And if you want to go lower just decrease the 945 fps by the same velocity that you want to lower the target velocity 🙂

    Good vids for noobs 😄 This is basicly how you should tune any M3 🙂 normally the second reg has to be set up as closed as power needed before use the valve. I saw that you reinstalled the tensionned barrel, is more accurate than the floated one with the Eagle tuner?

    • @VikingAirgunner
      @VikingAirgunner  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The tuner requires quite a bit of work, but after that it will potentially make the gun super accurate. I just keep testing different things, so going through the whole process every time is just too much of a hazzle. But if I was to go for a perfect setup it would be with a tensioned barrel and the barrel tuner 👍👍

    I Have watched your tuning videos. I am new to the fx impact M3. I have a 25 cal 700mm and I'm starting with JSB .25 25.39 gr.
    My Question because i'm new to this so excuse me please.
    How do I know what is the best velocity to shoot for and what reg pressure to set it to for starters.
    I think I understand how to tune from there but being new to this I don't know what velocity's are best for my pellets.
    Thank You,
    Gary

    • @VikingAirgunner
      @VikingAirgunner  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Gary
      First of all congrats on your new gun. You will get lots of experiences and there is alot to learn.
      And an excellent question!
      Regarding the velocity I dont have lots of experience with pellets - and none at all with 25 cal, but the approach is the same. From what I can tell the prefered velocity of pellets in general is between 840-920 fps, so it is up to you to find what works for you. Perhaps a good idea to seek inspiration from what others prefer.
      But my advice is to start low and work your way up. Take notes along the way (very important in order not to forget or get confused) so you can go back to a given velocity.
      Regarding the reg:
      Also start low. Maybe as low as 80 bar! Dont worry too much about the 1st reg untill you get the right setting/velocity.
      Lets imagine that you go for 840 fps with the reg at 80 bar and the max velocity is just 850 fps. (just an example - dont know how your gun will perform.) Here I would increase the 2nd reg with 5 bar at the time untill I reach a max velocity of 880-890 fps and from here on follow the instruction from the video. Notice your results - If you are hole in hole at 60 m there is no need to carry on. If you feel that it can be better, you proceed.
      Next step would be to test at 850 fps. So 10 fps increase at the time for a super through test. Here you need a max velocity that is also increased by 10 fps, and the only way find out with the reg is to slowly increase. Perhaps only a few bar at the time.
      Continue this proces with 10 fps at the time untill your accuracy starts to fall apart, and then use your notes and return to the setting with the best accuracy. Also here you can set the 1st reg to 35-50 bar above the 2nd reg.
      Remember to degass your system when turning down the reg!!! Dont listen to what other ppl might say. Degass completely to avoid damage to the reg.
      I hope that this answers your question. I know that it is alot of work, but finding the right velocity is an ongoing process in terms of changes in weather, altitude and so on.
      Best regards
      Peter

      You explained it perfectly and now I think I understand so I believe that I’m going to be able to figure this out now between this perfect explanation you just gave and your tuning video. I think I finally understand this process.

    Great video but you should specify, calibre, length and type of barrel, and also projectile used to start your video, because I started watching this and then you hear the word slug over a minute into this video. Then you get a caption shooting 16grain Zan….? Put a header up describing your setup properly because that way people will move on, when they have larger calibres and different projectiles. For example, I have the same rifle and M3 Sniper, standard Barrel .25, and use pellets 33.95g and settings are not even close to what you are describing even though your methology is reasonably sound. So please describe your setup properly in the header to your video.

    i don't have an FX but I have an HW100, I finally took some time to adjust the reg and hammer spring but im still confused. reg is set at 115 bar (factory setting) so that was good, I decreased hammer valve almost completely out, so I started at 500fps and worked my way up. but after 880fps it started dropping again (and I reached 920fps before). any guess on why that is?
