    You're a great teacher!! 3 weeks ago I bought an Impact M3 sniper .25 and have shot over 1200 pellets, trying to tune the gun to the FX 34 grain pellets. I've watched the FX masterclass video's over and over again, but it didn't get me where I wanted to be. I started watching your video (over and over again) a few days ago, started tuning my gun again (finally had the balls to change the second reg) and somehow it all clicked. Now I know what 'tuning your gun on top, or just over the top of the rainbow' actually means. Dude, you are awesome!! Today, on the range, I found my sweetspot and the gun is shooting like a dream. I shot my first 10 mm (5 shot) group at 50 meter (55yards) today, and get really good ES and SD numbers (11 and 2.9 over 30 shots). The thing that put the so called 'cherry on the cake' was me changing the moderator from the DonnyFL Sumo to the stock moderator. (way less flyers) 3 weeks of stress, failure, getting myself together and trying again, came to a close and it was beautiful. Greetings from The Netherlands and many THANKS!!!!

      The guns don't ship with a moderator, so what do you mean by "stock?" Do you mean nothing, or the DonnyFL / FX-branded suppressor?

    I purchased my M3 a while back and was quite perplexed about tuning it. Despite scrolling through nearly a hundred videos, I still couldn't grasp it. Then, thankfully, I stumbled upon your video, which completely changed my understanding of tuning. Your teaching method is incredibly simple and effective. Many thanks and hats off to you, Sir!❤❤❤

    This is probably the best video I have ever seen on how to obtain harmony between reg 2 , hammer wheel, micro hammer adjust and valve adjust for a desired speed. Once this is achieved the speed at which the gun has achieved harmony may or may not be the speed at which delivers the best accuracy . Ex .22 slug nest accuracy between 930-950 fps. This video is outstanding !!

    This is the BEST tutorial and philosophy of tuning I have seen! Thank you, I can clearly understand how to tune from scratch for any situation. Every other video I've seen either gives set values , is chasing their tail around or is describing the fine tune assuming you understand how to get everything else adjusted. Even the FX channel doesn't break it down this well. I won't even go into the chaos of trying to look through forums. You just saved me multiple tins of pellets I would have wasted trying to figure this out!

    I'm so thankful I found this video! You explain it well and make it so simple to understand. I owned two FX Impact Mk2, watching FX masterclass video again and again for years but didn't get me anywhere fast, wasting so much time and lead. In fact, it makes me hesitant to try to tune it. Not anymore. Subbed!!

    I've had my fx m3 for about a year now. Watched Ernest tune his impacts and whiskey 68 and just dozens of others. Your video just gave me that ha-haa moment. And I was a able to tune my gun with confidence. Maybe its because I grew up in Michigan but now live in Arizona that your explanation hit home. Thank you.
    I want to show my appreciation by how to improve accuracy by clocking your barrel that is rarely talked about, a real game changer if you know how. I won't go into detail, but your fx viewers need to know. I'll explain how if you don't know. Send me a reply

  • @FreeFloridaAirgunner
    @FreeFloridaAirgunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Finding that perfect combination is key. I've over pressurized my Maverick to the point where the projectile speed decreased as I increased the hammer setting. And someone else's tune should be used as a guide, each gun is different. Your explanation gives EVERYONE a guide to achieve the desired results. More speed usually means more air, more air means less shots per fill. The goal is to find that balance between ACCUARCY and SHOTS PER FILL. As you mentioned, wasted air actual diminishes accuracy by pushing the pellet outside the barrel without guidance from the barrel twist. Keep it up, there are always those that think they know better, but there are more of US that appreciate your efforts to achieve maximum accuracy without over stressing the system

    Rewatched today after setting my reg1 to 175 and my reg2 to 135. Trying to achieve 925-950 fps with a NSA .25 43.5 grain slug. Improved from yesterday's 820 to today's 860 but still not there. Now I need to go back thru your recommended steps. Start Macro 16 , micro to sear engage plus two clicks, Valve all the way out. Interesting observation. Once the above is set, work back to front on the gun. Macro - Micro - Valve. Can't wait to work this and see my results. If I can't achieve my fps, I won't be disappointed as I know the gun will be set up as well as possible.
    P.S. Born and raised in Michigan .... Thanks again!

    Great video Moose.
    When you got to your hypothetical 110 bar and 9PW for 915fps, could you creep your reg up to say 113 so that you could re-max your PW to 16, just above your desired velocity say 930… then creep the valve back just a little bit or click the wheel one click to 15 until it gets back to 915?
    I’m no bench rester by any stretch and barely have time to test, but I like having ALL the adjustability I can so that I can shoot like 3-4 different projectiles. I also I shoot in 40% humidity and 100% humidity in the same day or even hour!
    For example I shoot:
    - 14.3gr on PW1 at close range for small creatures @ 950-970 (I know too fast)
    - 18-19gr on PW8 at I think @ 910
    - 25gr pellets PW16 @ 915
    - 22-25gr slugs on PW16 between 900-1000fps for longer shots.
    I have such huge swings in temp, humidity and elevation where I shoot that I find my speeds can vary shockingly and use that adjustability to get back to harmony.
    This is what I’ve been doing. All that basically only touching the round knob. I’m sure/know I’m not optimized for anything, but guess my question is… I don’t want a worthless #10-16 on my wheel. I really love the versatility that the Impact platform can afford.
    Am I missing something? It seems to work. I AM ASKING, not just trying to tell you what I do. I’m really new to PCP stuff but have a good grasp on firearm stuff in general.

    Everyone is right Moose best video for tuning the M3. I've been fiddling with mine for weeks. .22 cal with the 800mm tension barrel. Tried javelin, NSA, zan, H&N. from 28 grain to 33 grain. Can get any good groups. I put the stock 700 mm barrel on. Seems a little better. My question is, what speed should I be looking for. Some say 930, some say 1,000 and in between. The best I've got so far was the NSA 28.5 gn at 950. 3/4" group at 50 yards. Not impressive. I'm setting this up for PRS for the northeast air gun classic. I was hoping to shoot 32 grain or so thinking it might help more in the wind but I'm pretty new at this. Any input you want to throw at me would be awesome. Thanks.

    Interesting explanation, I will try it! Only one thing is confusing me, how can I be sure what is correct speed that I want for certain pellet (or slug)? So how is desired speed corelated with different pellets and slugs? They all have different BC, weight, length...

    • @abitoutside
      @abitoutside  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question. Normally I know roughly what speed most pellets and slugs like. Pellets generally like between 850-930. I aim for about 920 to start. Slugs generally like faster between 960-1100. It's a game of figuring out what's best. This tuning guide would be how I would find my target speed.

    The two set points you need to decide when you start are, the speed you want to achieve and the weight of the projectile. Then when set up efficiently try different projectiles of that weight as some will group better at certain speeds and certain barrels.

    i have a concern though 😅
    since the valve is a big factor regarding the tuning process
    can i tune the gun for slugs and pellets at the same time?
    let’s say i tuned the valve for pellets
    then decided to shoot slugs
    for example the hammer wheel on 10 for jsb 34 gets me 920 and 14 gets me 960 on HN 36 gr
    OR do you think valve opening and closing will be an issue regarding accuracy and saving more air while trying tuning for both ?

    This might be a stupid question but say you want the gun shooting 880, why not just max out the hammer, find a reg pressure that shoots at say 950 and then just turn the hammer wheel down until it shoots 880. Wouldn’t that also be efficient? Just trying to learn here.

    After watching the whole video I can comment. As I don't have an Impact. But I have a rti prophet that I maximize the hammer until it doesn't increase the desired speed anymore and I give the regulator a sniff to lower it about 10fps. With the wildcat mk2, I tuned the regulator to 135bar and I worked with the hammer until I reached perfection at 20 meters, then I saw the speed. With vulcan3 I can only tune the hammer so I go straight to 20 meters to perfection. Only then do I see the results at 90 meters. Rti and wildcat all have 135 bar regulator. The wild with 60J (not max hammer, about three full turns less) and the rti with 70J.

    Hey Moose, I really appreciate you responding to me yesterday. I had something else if you had a minute. I put the stock 700 mm barre backl on the .22 M3. Seems to be a little better. My question is, what speed should I be looking for? Some say 930, some say 1,000 and in between. The best I've got so far was the NSA 28.5 grain at 950 FPS. 3/4-in group at 50 yards. Not impressive. I'm setting this up for PRS for the Northeast airgun classic. I was hoping to shoot 32 grain or so slugs thinking it might help with the wind but I'm pretty new at this. Any input you want to throw at me would be awesome thanks.

    • @abitoutside
      @abitoutside  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a question only testing will answer. Normally I find that 980-1000 is best for most slugs. However, it can sometimes be lower speeds.

  • @RcBlade

    So,
    *max out the hammer spring
    *fully back out vavle adjuster
    *Raise the reg until you hit your desired fps
    *slowly back off hammer spring until it drops 10 to 15 fps then bump it back up slightly to regain that 10 to 15 fps
    *spin in the valve adjuster until it affects fps then back it off slightly to regain the fps that dropped spinning it in
    So the goal is to keep that original fps you found with the maxed out hammer without dropping any fps while tuning the hammer spring and valve adjuster? Or should your end fps be slightly less than the original fps you got with the maxed out spring?
