Speaking from my personal experiences with little kids, I would say we are naturally selfish. Kids always fight, demand stuff and they are really bad at sharing. And they start to lie, even if nobody ever lied to them or in front of them. True story!
I agree we are naturally selfish but I believe most people try to live above that when they’re older and genuinely try to be a good person because they know it’s the right thing to do

The problem with this question is it demands a black or white answer. Some humans are bad, some humans are good. Although, I think all humans are selfish. Not 24/7, but most of the time. Even with this recent Orlando shooting everyone starts talking about how it made THEM feel, even though none of them were involved. 9/10 a human will only do something if there is a benefit for them, even if that benefit is getting to gossip or brag about an act of kindness later during a dinner party or on social media. I agree! Look at animals! They just act and they dont see this whole fake man made construct called good vs evil! There is only choice with humans! Evil and good are meangingless words......But I personally always have felt that humans in general have bugger tendencies towards selfish negative actions vs positive ones! Society is what makes people conform and conditions them to feel and act a certain way and after milleniums of conditions people dont even know what they truly are! They only do positive things or help others cuz thats what they were conditioned to do or cuz of selfish reasons to make them look good. People dont have the gift of selfishness. Doing good deeds has always been a result of conditioning! At the core humans dont or cant explain why they do positive or negative things! Negative actions is driven by selfish desires and positives actions is the same unfortunaltey........ If this construct of evil vs good were to actual be a real thing than I would say that people are defentely inherently bad and that society, norms, values, media, condtioing and more makes people hold back their evilness and selfish desires! If you could see into peoples hearts you would see people walking around filled with the most sadistic selfish thoughts imaginable! Humans nowayds are jsut like a product made in a factory! They are all made and profmrammed the same way and they dont even know it! They like to think that they are good cuz thats what society promotes but they are faking it deep down! There is a murderer inside of almsot every human.
@@travisprescott9708 my guy we literally live in a universe where morals and laws change depending on which time time line and century you were born in 🤦♂️. If you were born in the 16th century and was raised by racist parents you would be racist. If you where born in the 3rd Century and was raised to believe something you would be ok with it since most of society at the time was ok with it. Good and bad are concepts humans use to decide. Most humans find robbing a bank evil but than there is another counter argument to this. If you really needed the money and your about to die would you still rob the bank? That’s the thing about the good and bad concept which humans made. Humans literally made good and bad so society wouldn’t go around killing each other for fun. Religion helps this matter as well
@@feorgenotgloyd7624 I disagree that it's "man made", it's just ignorance. And when you have a bunch of stupid animlas who do too much in their own society not being able to slow down and process why everything and everyone are the way they are, this is what you get.
It's a matter of how much empathy somebody has (and probably some other things combined). Babies generally have a lot of empathy. They did studies where adults were "struggling" to complete simple tasks and the little kids always went over to help them. Around adolescence empathy plummets (at least for males), and my hypothesis for this is because that's a time you need to prove yourself and too much compassion will hold you back from performing a lot of selfish tasks (like competition over mates, hunting, proving you're not afraid to kill someone from another tribe, etc). Then later empathy is greater again. Naturally we're all selfish, self-preservation, but empathy also serves a lot of evolutionary benefits so we have that. But empathy evolved later than aggression did, of course, so the aggression part tends to overpower the empathic part when triggered too strongly Plus a whole bunch of other factors...
I've been treated like shit my entire life, have serious bad luck, love horror movies, monster not slasher. but no matter what I go through empathy is naturally a part of me.
Exactly i told people that how you are it has to be in you like in your soul. Example: people who are loyal arent loyal because if curcumstances, they are born with it in their soul
Evil, greedy, selfish, materialistic, cold-hearted, demonic, predators, abusive, unholy. Just to be a few characteristics of most people. I'm through with most people since they use me as their punching bag 🤮
So before I watch the video, I'll say this. The concept of good and evil are human creations. You do something benefitting others at your cost, you're good. You do the opposite, then you're bad. However, nature doesn't care about morals. You help another, you'll die a bloody death and that's how it goes in nature. To stay alive, you need to lookout for yourself and yourself only. This even applies to social creatures like wolves, humans, and some birds. Edit: After watching the video, I wasn't entirely wrong. Yes, humans will help each other, but It's in our social nature to do so to survive. However, is there's a bunch of us walking around with no weapons and all of a sudden we get attacked, one guy gets taken, then in order for the others to survive we need to let the poor bloke go. Not morally right, but we all die if we don't leave it.
I think humans can do bad things but can do many good things too. We are not perfect and SOME of the bad things we do don’t define us as a person. Some of the bad things shows that we have flaws and perhaps dont always know what to do in certain situations but it isnt always out of spite. Humans can do many great things too like cure illnesses, donate to charity, look out for friends and family, look after one and other things. Therefore i think humans are both good and bad.
True, but the question would essentially ask you, why would it be terrible to watch? To some crazed psychopath, violence and pain is entertaining to watch, no matter the age. To the more sane people though, of course it's not a pleasant sight. But above all the question is, what makes it "terrible to watch"? (i'm not saying I'm a psychopath, btw)
I wouldn't want it to fall because one, they have a life ahead of them. Two if it has parents SAVE IT I don't wanna know what would happen if it died in front of the parents. three the baby might die or be stuck or die in pain I am not selfish poor thing might want to live and others may agree!
Me : *sees a baby going to fall from a hole* Me : Eh * baby gets closer* Me : Where's the parents? *baby a inch away from it * Me : Dats a dumb baby with a horrible family * baby falls down * Me : I just let my species die in front of me. Well thats sad. Okay bye
Here we go again, "Think positive" me: Are you kidding me as far as I remember I've never been positive, (because I can't remember posite things for some odd reason)
I think humans are deep down selfish, we will act selfishly if such an act is to save ourselves, for e.g. fighting for food when you're starving. Compared to first world people where they can share food, because that loss of food won't really cause harm to them. Same for the baby: if saving the baby won't damage us, we will save it, but if saving the baby will cause some severe injuries to the person, that person would usually put their lives first.
Mike Grown Read what I wrote. Selfishness isn't an absolute; a huge proportion of us humans can be either selfish or selfless, depending on the situation we are in. I never said I was selfish; and Im pretty sure you too are selfish at times. lastly, idk how being selfish is weird; a lot of people are selfish in their everyday actions. Just think about it and you will realise Im right.
Selfishness is often times not a choice. The body has one goal. Keep itself alive. The rational mind decides things that are bad for you in the short term, but work out in the long. You're not always using the rational mind, and some use it more or less than others.
Good and Bad are not real. We are selfish as all species are in the fight for survival. Saving a baby is not moralistic good but an ethical reaction in the intricate network of survival of the species.
GetAmber All you're doing is slowing down the reproduction rate of those species. We're alive because of reproduction, we were made to reproduce. That's it
even if im edgy... i save people or risk my life from it because im suicidal and im gonna do it for good example: a guy is being aimed by a gun. i wil jump in front of the shooting range to save him and me diying not in vain

Bad and Good is a perception on things. They can mean whatever you want to mean so a serial killer can be though as bad by most people buy the serial killers and others may see it was a good thing. Humans are born as just humans, they choose what they want to be so technically, no. Nobody is born that way but it is natural to be either and natural to have a view on it.
Human's are born selfish. Even charitable acts are done to a achieve feeling of self-satisfaction. You helped out in the soup kitchen because it made YOU feel good. No matter how selfless an action can seem, there is always selfish intent.
Is it wrong to feel self-satisfaction when doing a good deed? It's a whole lot better than feeling self-satisfaction over doing something bad in my opinion.
Everyone is born neutral. A baby doesn't understand most of the things in this world which is why they slowly progress by learning new things daily. Everyone is born withouth being racist or even Religious. Now don't get me wrong but if you teach your child about these things since childhood, they will get devoted to it. I speak from experience and in all honesty, I felt a bit brainwashed. I don't want to hate on Religion or people that actually support racism but please.. don't teach your children out of your own selfish desires. I ended up very depressed when I turned down religion and got a load of unneccesary yelling from my parents. Just please dont
The human condition is the mix between good and bad. When humans are born, we are not aware about the enviroment that surrounds us. Gradually we start becoming aware of the surroundings . When complex feelings and emotins start to develop, a little kid desires objects to the detriment of the other's will. Innate feelings such as ambition, envy and wrath are present in the little kid''s behaviour, these ,respectively, leads them to desire a better toy than his similar's one, to destroy other's more beautiful toy and cry out loud when they are not satisfied with their toy. Who have never felt envy, hatred and others bad feelings towards someone or something? Who have never thought or planned to harm someone? Even if the bad felling doesn''t lead to an action, it exists in thought. THE BAD IS INHERENT TO HUMAN NATURE AS WELL AS THE GOOD.
Humans are inherently innocent, naive and therefore neutral. Some behaviours, both good and bad may be encoded into our DNA. However, for the most part, humans follow those who lead by example, and usually mimic those behaviours, typically not seeing at first what might be wrong with said behaviours. Some people of course tend to think for themselves because that's encoded into their DNA. And in those cases, they don't necessarily imitate behaviours they independently view as bad. Ultimately, however, good and bad are merely human concepts. As societies, we formulate ideas as to what's right or wrong and the majority of people will set the rules that govern those popular ideas of right and wrong.
Well, I have been giving some spare money to a really poor person, but I rather don’t tell it to my friends and family because I don’t want the attention, so... I just am happy if I help.
In my opinion, I think we are a combination of both, sometimes good, sometimes bad. But, what I would like to know is how does not determine if they "like" someone or "dislikes" them. If say a person has done 6 bad things and 4 good things, would you like that person or dislike them? If you say you would not like them because of the 6 bad things, does that mean that their good things did not count? Why do we have to say that we like or dislike someone, can't we just take the good with the bad?
We are. imagine how many city are in the state you live, every city has diffrent news reporter and almost everyday their is a new report of someone stealing, someone being murdered, somebody getting abducted. That all goes on In just one city per day. Everysingle state has so much cities. and then The things that dont on the news that are the little bad things, like children fighting, Children lying to their parents. personal things that dont go on tv happends everyday. their is more bad in this world then good. people rather do bad Because its easier , being good takes work But everyones a lazy selfish person to go do something right. Including me. :c .
In each country there should be a donation going out to the homeless people and orphans about every three weeks. If only rich and famous people like Trump knew what was going on😔
Inherently bad. Otherwise, parents wouldn't have to teach their children about manners. If people are inherently good, what's the point of teaching children to be good?
Good because just because we’re doing something bad it doesn’t mean we are bad like for ex. Your kid was bullying his/her sister/brother then u caught your kid and u lesson her how to be a good girl/boy, our characters aren’t born with bad personalities, we were born to be good, being bad it’s just a character that we are attached to it, duuhhh Thumbs up if u agree

Also, if we were all bad then there would be no doctors, nurses or any other professions that cares for others bad people are greedy, selfish, and care about no one but themselves. I believe that right now we have good and bad people in this world one balances out the other. We can only hope that we never see that balance move higher towards the bad.
DeeEll86442 True
Some people are not bad on a surface level, but are internally. For example, if people were bullying someone, most people won't intervene...
You're very naive
You missed the whole point.lets say, if you get money for helping people, you would be doing that every day. Hence, naturally kind.
I strongly disagree with you, it is not the way one is brought up. "Man is naturally good, and anything that is not natural has corrupted us from our natural state." -Rousseau

I say humans are bad because they make stuff like Teen Titans Go and Twerking.
+King of Lego I laughed insanely hard on this..
Power Star It's the truth.
Dont forget, Haters and Antis
Not really twerking because twerking is the traditional dance in some countries in west Africa. And where I'm from Ethiopia and I'm in a certain place (I'm not from there) there traditional dance is twerking. People just make twerking really inappropriate
That's your opinion. People enjoy both
"The world isn't split into good people and bad people. We've all got light and dark inside us. It is the part we choose to act upon which shows who we really are."
I have experienced human behaviour worse than a beast
they are beneath a beast for sure
It's just animal instinct: you protect the children to ensure the survival of your species.
Neither, both are arbitrary concepts made by humans themselves, in reality there is no good or bad, only choice
Cryosis So robbing a bank and killing someone is not bad and adopting a child to give it a home or saving someones life isn't good
@@travisprescott9708 my guy we literally live in a universe where morals and laws change depending on which time time line and century you were born in 🤦♂️.

But empathy evolved later than aggression did, of course, so the aggression part tends to overpower the empathic part when triggered too strongly
Plus a whole bunch of other factors...
I'm through with most people since they use me as their punching bag 🤮
i think we are all 'empty' when we're born. it depends on our parents and overall people around us whether we'll be good or bad.
+The D. I have anger issues 😂
Thats stupid
+Julian Cannilbary like your family. You 6 year old kid.
yes and no.
with lots people, the surroundings do matter but not so much with people who are psychopaths, have schizophrenia, ect.
Julian Cannilbary nope
People are not totally good and bad because we just want to meet other people’s expectations. However, we may be affected by our circumstances.
I wouldn't let the baby fall cuz it would be terrible to watch
True, but the question would essentially ask you, why would it be terrible to watch? To some crazed psychopath, violence and pain is entertaining to watch, no matter the age. To the more sane people though, of course it's not a pleasant sight.
But above all the question is, what makes it "terrible to watch"?
(i'm not saying I'm a psychopath, btw)
Also the reason 'it would be terrible to watch' is somewhat selfish, as it would put said person's comfort first.
I wouldn't want it to fall because one, they have a life ahead of them. Two if it has parents SAVE IT I don't wanna know what would happen if it died in front of the parents. three the baby might die or be stuck or die in pain I am not selfish poor thing might want to live and others may agree!
Me : *sees a baby going to fall from a hole*
Me : Eh
* baby gets closer*
Me : Where's the parents?
*baby a inch away from it *
Me : Dats a dumb baby with a horrible family
* baby falls down *
Me : I just let my species die in front of me. Well thats sad. Okay bye
Nothing is good or bad. Only thinking makes it so.

2:00 WOOP xD
Here we go again, "Think positive" me: Are you kidding me as far as I remember I've never been positive, (because I can't remember posite things for some odd reason)
I think humans are deep down selfish, we will act selfishly if such an act is to save ourselves, for e.g. fighting for food when you're starving. Compared to first world people where they can share food, because that loss of food won't really cause harm to them. Same for the baby: if saving the baby won't damage us, we will save it, but if saving the baby will cause some severe injuries to the person, that person would usually put their lives first.
Just because you're selfish doesn't mean that everyone else is like you weirdo....
Just think about it and you will realise Im right.
goodbye rose the dog.😥😳😢😭🙀😿
Selfishness is often times not a choice. The body has one goal. Keep itself alive. The rational mind decides things that are bad for you in the short term, but work out in the long. You're not always using the rational mind, and some use it more or less than others.
dogs: am I a good boy or am I just motivated by treats
Good and Bad are not real. We are selfish as all species are in the fight for survival. Saving a baby is not moralistic good but an ethical reaction in the intricate network of survival of the species.
Neither, there is no such thing as good or bad.
Exactly
Dude, that was deep.
So brutally murdering every visible organism is nothing?
+GetAmber Probably. People kill cows all the time, we are Suppose to kill things (even ourselves) , It's life q.q
GetAmber All you're doing is slowing down the reproduction rate of those species. We're alive because of reproduction, we were made to reproduce. That's it

So is a child, a baby bad?
If this was true, then any child born into a bad abusive home would not turn out to be good and better than their families.

I find that the easiest answer is
To not give a fuck.
Is it wrong to feel self-satisfaction when doing a good deed? It's a whole lot better than feeling self-satisfaction over doing something bad in my opinion.
Kenneth Nguyen No I did it because I'm not a good man but I'm not a bad man

Jasmine McGarigle We're born into sin, not born sinful.
Jasmine McGarigle That's really well said.
We are born neutral. We bridge both good and bad.
Jasmine McGarigle no one is born evil you get taught to be evil or to be good
Everyone is born neutral.

I just am happy if I help.
bloody eraser tool's at it again
Almost entirely evil.
