- Hi everyone, Anja here, and in this video we are making a crochet basket stash-buster project out of my rainbow leftovers. I made so many small rainbow projects I really needed a project to use up the stash. I thought a stash-buster basket was a great idea. What are you going to use your basket for? I made this in blue grey and cream and it looks great, it was very quick and now I have somewhere to store my on the go projects. I love the way you explain everything, excellent, thank you.
I like to make little baskets for gifts. They are easy and quick to make. They provide a beautiful and affordable organization alternative.

I too like color combo made by 2 grays and one in white stitches.
I made cotton trivets using 3 strands held together. It mattered not what combo of colors used. Made for interesting colors and making thick enough to use as trivets. Of course, cotton yarn only so safely can be used with hot pots/pans.

You weren't wrong about the bird's nest idea!...After the bushfires damaged alot of bushland and natural habitats in parts of Australia last year , there was a huge call out to make nests and pouches for the surviving animals, esp the baby ones. Lovely and potentially life- giving stashbusters.💜✨xx

Hi Anja, Love the basket. I think I will have to make the basket because I keep buying yarn😁. I just finish making your drawstring bag using Sugar n Cream yarn. I've made 2 and working on the 3rd one. I have 3 small granddaughters. Also I just got more yarn today for a shawl so I will need that basket. Thank for keeping us busy!!!.

Love- just say what yur doing while yur doing it. Two single crochets in the next 2 stitches n then two single stitches into the next stitch n finish the row.

I love how you did the colors in your basket. I have attempted two large stash buster baskets before seeing this video. They came out or but they are obviously made with leftover yarn. They aren't pretty at all. I will try again and use your rainbow basket as inspiration. Thank you!

I really like this as it's a crochet basket to keep yarn or blankets in but the colours are really nice as they grey makes them pop it's worth buying a grey to use up stash colours 😀

Have you tried putting all 3 strands in a large hole bead? It keeps the strands together. I've only heard this suggestion have not tried this theory out! Good luck. I love your ideas, Anja. Such a creative mind you have. Thank you for sharing and explaining it as you go! Vickie- in Mesa,AZ.

Great basket. Bit confused about the stitches. After you stopped increasing did you stitch through the back loop only for just one row or for every row after that continue to use back loop only? Couldn’t see it on video. Thanks for the pattern and color suggestions.

I've gotten to the point where I'm no longer increasing. I wasn't sure if I had it down so I did a smaller sample and even when I'm counting the stitches and they turn out the same, the top of the basket is curving in and looks smaller up top. Will it look better on the big one or could I be doing something wrong?
Edit: I didn't compliment the tutorial in the video. It inspired me to make a basket of my own, you made it seem so easy, thank you
That maybe a tension issue Mack....difficult to know without seeing it, sorry. Anja x

The tutorial is for the basket, big or small it's just a different amount of stitches, I did a small sample one for the video so it wouldn't take too long! Anja x

What yarn was used for the bigger stash buster basket ?
As I say in the video, I used Stylecraft Special DK and an Ice Yarns saver that I had lying around with no project in mind. Anja x
Would a bulky 5 or 6 work alone ?
The only way to tell is to try it, but l would think it should work ok, Anja x
