On the off chance you actuslly read this, I just wanted to add to something you said. I understand what you mean when you say that you have a difficult time connecting with people, I feel like that sometimes too. But I think the fact that you're self-aware enough to realize that speaks volumes about what kind of person you are. I can't speak to the psychological damage that your childhood must have a bad on you, but I know that kind of thing must take decades to heal from. The fact that you can get on TH-cam and appeal to over 3 million people by just being yourself goes to show how good you actually are at connecting with people. Try not to beat yourself up too much about it. Just a thought.
Also, whether you think so or not, I believe things for you are only going to go up from here. You have too many people rooting for you for that not to happen.

Boogie, thank you so much for talking about your reluctance to connect deeply with others. Your statements, "I don't know that I care about them the way that I'm supposed to but I do know that I've never cared about family the way that I'm supposed to." and "I got pushed so far down inside that it's really fucking hard to connect." resonate with me on such a deep level. Please know there are others out there who come from damaging family situations who also experience this. My admiration and respect for you just jumped 1,000% because I understand how difficult it is to discuss this issue with people. Your feelings about your wife mirror my feelings towards my husband, who is the first person in my life who truly supports me, believes in me, cares about me, and treats me with respect. I'm still in the "looking for the bad to protect myself from" stage but it's a work in progress every day. This video got so deep and so real for me as a viewer and as someone who can empathize and I thank you so much for that. If you feel the need to talk about these subjects more frequently, please do. You might be helping to heal yourself and you might also help to heal others as well.

A friend told me that a while back when I opened up about feeling like I wasn't connecting the right way, or enough, with people. It stood out to me especially in relationships, where I tend to be a bit overly pragmatic, often at the serious expense of my and/or my s.o's feelings, due to past experiences. I also grew to understand (and this may be super different for you!!) that it wasn't that I didn't care, it was that I showed it ways that were expected in other peoples minds. I have gotten better though! For example, when I just can't text back, starting the habit of bringing up that point in conversation. "I got my dog a new bed!" no reply, but next time I see them, "How's Charlie liking his bed?!". Making a effort to do the latter, in the hopes my friends understand the former. It's not foolproof, I'm not really all that good at it, but I'm trying to work in that direction. (Be warned it results in creeping on old texts. A lot.) Keep us posted on the lawsuit, too!
Also! If you want a trick for healthy flavored water, fruit cubes! Buy any kind of berry, and in a blender mash them, water, and (optional) a drop or two honey. Water : Berry ratio is normally 1.5 : 1 cups. You want it to be a bit watery so they'll melt more smoothly. Then get ice cube trays and make as many ice cubes as you can / want. That way when I want flavored water there's an easy way to get a flavor without any of the weird stuff they put in flavor packets, and its more hydrating than any kind of smoothie. :)

My drink of choice is mainly water as I can't have fizzy drinks to due health issues and I really do like how refreshing it is.
I have water in the form of herbal teas a lot, because it's warm, soothing and reminds me settings in oldschool fantasy novels. Mint, Ginger, Chammomile etc. They say witches were just ladies who made herbal medicines and teas, hence the ol cauldron iconography.
I also like sparkling water if I get bored of tap.
You can do fancy things like putting berries and fruit into a jug of water and leaving in the fridge, but I'm a little too lazy for that.

The last portion of this really spoke to me, about the difficulty you have connecting with people. I've gone through sexual, verbal, and emotional abuse pretty much my whole life, and I understand 100% what you mean by finding it hard to connect with people. And seeing I'm not the only one who feels that way, or who has this problem, is really comforting, I've never really heard of anyone else feeling this way before. It doesn't feel so isolating, or like I'm wrong somehow, knowing there are others who feel that way.
So thank you for talking about it, and I'm so happy that things are going so well for you(excluding the hacking and Verizon bullshit). Things are just gonna keep getting better from here, keep up the good work!!

I've been drinking primarily water for a while now and I really do feel lots better. I sleep well, I get fewer headaches and migraines, I spend less time in the washroom and - as a huge bonus - my teeth look a lot cleaner and healthier. This is coming from someone who grew up in a household with bad-tasting tap water and that relied heavily on soft drinks, sodas and sweetened beverages.
The only downside right now is my dependence on bottled water. I've been dropping empty bottles off into recycling bins when I can but I'm still a bit worried on my impact on the environment. I'm pretty excited about the possibility of boxed water coming to my neck of the woods.
I'm an introvert. I'm happy being alone. But ppl at work seem to think otherwise. They constantly think I'm mad and its because I have a natural looking angry face even though I am not angry. Directly I've been called crazy and that I need to see somebody, indirectly I was called everything in the book from disgruntled employee, bipolar, and other really awful things. Only a few ppl are really nice to me at work and I can count them on one hand. So I feel u Boogie, I can't connect with ppl at all even the ppl who are nice to me. Some of them try to invite me out but because I've been hurt in the past, I keep people at a distance, even those who are nice to me =(

I think you're right that your wife helped you get back in touch with that side of yourself which you thought was impossible to reach again, so that is the most amazing gift this world has given to you. You're right to cherish her as much as you can :) Not sure about Verizon myself, it could just be a massive pain in the ass you could probably do without even though it is absolutely shitty they don't have proper security measures in place to make sure you are who you say you are when you call them up. If the dude didn't have your password or anything, they should have used some other method to contact you like emailing to your known email address, at which point you could contact them and say it definitely wasn't you and they can flag the account as possibly trying to be compromised. I don't know, sometimes these things are better just to let them go and not have all the extra stress in your life!

I'm over 430lbs at 32 years old and I feel like I can relate to you when you talk about your struggles and how you are learning to overcome them. I know for a fact that you are doing amazing and we can tell how happy you are! Please ramble all the hell you want man! Glad to hear the wife is going to be joining playing. My wife and i started playing at one point but she would always be on my one gaming capable machine for many many hours at a time. She lost about 14 hours once playing and it scared her so bad she quit playing LOL. I love it. I need to start playing again.
Thanks for the update! You may be right about feeling connected to people but love is largely about honesty and trust. You gush the first one which inspires many people to feel the second about you even to the extent of creating that connection you struggle with yourself. I wouldn't be so hard on yourself about trusting everyone. Your upbringing has made it hard for you to trust out of the gate, and your popularity opens you up to all kinds of dishonest people(trolls, sadists, financial fraudsters, etc) that could want to deceive you for personal gain. So you just worry about staying honest, you're amazing at that, and those that truly care or just enjoy your company or videos will accept you and keep coming around even if you don't specifically reach out to them as often as they might think you should. No-one should expect you to be something you're not to make them feel better about themselves. That is a struggle they should deal with not you. But in the end, petty squabbles between friends is just water under the bridge. Stay happy, stay true!

Thank you for letting us into your life and allowing us to share your humor and your pain (yes your pain....... pain is the most personal of things) As some one who has had soo much pain happen in my life i can truly relate to feeling like it is hard to not look for all the bad. so to hear that it is possible to heal to not feel this all the time is truly a blessing.
as for you being unable to talk to people and it being hard? i say WATER YOU TALKING ABOUT? (like what i did there?) but seriously. as a budding streamer i can without a doubt say that one of the hardest things to do is to sit in front of a camera and just talk. so the fact that you not only can do that but can do it for 15 - 20 minutes at a time is saying something.

People are difficult, I've been bullied to a breaking point at elementary school, just for being physically disabled and now i'm 31 i still don't connect to people as easy i should.
All i can say is, just be you, i try to be and it seems to work. I got friends that know that i am a harder person to be friends with and that love me the way i am and are willing to go the extra route for me.

"Just be you" This phrase is meaningless to anyone who actually needs to hear it. People who are bullied BECAUSE they are being themselves, repress what it even means to be themselves. They have redefined themselves as wanting to blend in, to do what other people are doing so kids won't beat them up for being different.
A better way to say that is, do what you enjoy, and say what is on your mind, in spite of what you THINK someone will think of you because of that, because if they will not like you when you are being yourself, then they will never really like you anyway.

Water, in a way i understand how you feel when you talk about how you grew up. I grew up with a Master Sergeant as a father, along with my brother being literally 19 years and 365 days older than me(leap year baby here). I was abused mentally and physically by my brother and my dad was basically never home. I play wow constantly and fell like i have better friendships with my guild mates than i do with my own blood or real life friends. I have had guild mates stick their neck out for me, aka send me money if i was in a pinch and other things because i cant count on real friends or family. I feel i have a decent time comunicating with people i meet in game vs. people i meet in real life, its easier when you just talk than when you talk straight to someone whose in front of you. Honestly it doesn't matter who you are, or what you do. Haters are everywhere and each one has their own prey in which they leech upon. the more subscribers = more popularity = more haters. So in order to get more fans, you have to deal with more haters. Its like a Yin/Yang effect. Wish the haters were a little smarter and at least thought up reasonable facts besides the obvious or bullcrap. But overall, its best that Boogie stays strong throughout his videos and TH-cam career.

It really depends on what measures Verizon took when trying to verify the person who was trying to access the account. I'm not sure what exactly their processes are, but they can only do so much. I work for Telus in Canada, and I know they usually ask as much information as possible if they don't know the security PIN on the account, or get valid photo ID if they come into the store. People do forget their PIN so they will usually ask all the information associated with the account and allow access if it's correct (address, DOB, email, etc.). Of course over the phone they can't really verify if it's actually you but if someone already had the information from another source then that's bad news. I would contact Verizon and ask them to investigate, it's also possible that the hacker knew someone who worked inside the company that could have looked into the account and got the information. Assuming Verizon's security is similar to that, there's really only so much they can do without making it a nightmare for someone who simply forgot the PIN they set up when they created the account because they rarely have to contact customer service. Some people are careless, but some people do forget, especially the older people. Ultimately though I think any wireless provider is going to eventually crack if the hacker is persistent enough and has access to the right information.
Not trying to be picking up for Verizon by any means, if you sue Verizon best of luck, they're all crooks but at least you're not with a subscriber in Canada... It's even worse here in Canada. Outside of suing them, I'd say the next best thing would be to escalate the complaint, perhaps find out who the district manager for Verizon is in the area. Get the complaint escalated enough and changes can be brought to the security policy, and maybe some credits lol
I had the same Verizon experience as Boogie. Woke up one morning to no service, turned out my number was stolen. I added the password verification to my account after that, and the same thing occured two more times AFTER adding the extra security, they still let them into my account without the verification. Beyond frustrating. My only choice was to change carriers. I now have to deal with no signal and very little LTE coverage in my area by switching to Sprint, but i had no other choice. Whatever you decide to do Boogie, know that you definitely will be a voice for many of us.

I don't know if you'll see this, Boogie, but that's ok. I think this is one of my favorite videos I've seen on your channel. I feel you on the loving to the best of your ability. I can say that at 23, having lived a steadily middle-class/first world country/white privileged life up to this very moment, I have never loved anyone or anything. Not my parents or any immediate family member. Never grieved at the loss of a relative or friend. Though I certainly was never abused or truly have any justification for the feelings I have and especially the feelings I don't have. I have been told my several sources that it was because I was "highly empathic" as a child and it wasn't nurtured. Now I don't mean in the "oooh I can sense what you're feeling with my spoopy mind powers". But in the "I can't explain it but I can tell somethings wrong" kind of way. That part of me got shit on often enough that it completely reverted and left, what now feels like, a void in me. So, after I've rambled longer than I meant to, you're not alone. Your genuine and honest and kind nature seems almost like a beacon to those who think that it will never get better, that they'll never be better, that they only exist so others can shit on them. We can see and sense the passion for what you do in everything that you do. You are perfectly imperfect in a world that views imperfections as defections. We see you. A good ramble or just saying something out loud can do more healing or calm a troubled mind than some would admit. some might think its weird but I genuinely think saying it out loud even if youre on your own is like getting it out of your system. Good ramble now and again.
I built a new settlement in Fallout 4 today. It has 304 defense, 500 power, 50 food and 110 water.
I like your rambling videos more than everything else you do on your channel, outside of game and movie reviews. I liked your comments on the Rotten Tomatoes thing. Aggregated scores are not how a sane person decides to spend money on an entertainment product, it would be the same if you only listened to one person's opinion, and that person was either Devastator or the Borg Queen, or Unity from Rick and Morty. I have a carefully curated "collection" of reviewers whose voices I listen to on TH-cam. Usually, I decide based on the trailer, and if the critics I listen to all say the trailer doesn't do it justice, then I am on the fence, and I might get it on DVD when it publishes, or see it in the second weekend.
I used to get down on myself about questions like "how good of a friend am I?" I don't think about that anymore. I stopped worrying about it when I disowned my mother. I invited her to be at the hospital to witness the birth of my first child, she asked me if my father was going to be there. I told her, "You've been divorced longer than you were ever married, get over it. If you can't get over it, and don't show up, don't ever expect to hear from me again. Your first and only grandchild is more important than your pride." She didn't show up. So she is dead to me. I moved my household, I changed phone numbers, and I haven't looked back. That conversation was four years ago.
I don't think being related to someone gets them an automatic pass to behave however they want towards you. After a certain age, and it's different for everyone, family becomes those that you choose to associate with, and if you live long enough, it eventually becomes true.

i grew up with an emotionally abusive mother and i have trouble connecting to people too. every time i say it my therapist asks me to describe exactly how i feel about people and i can't do it, i just know i feel differently than other people. thank you for sharing, it made me feel better about my own interpersonal difficulties. Thank you for this whole video, but especially 2 specific parts:
1. About how you're looking for the goodness, rather than the bad/hurtful people. I have been trying to overcome that same affliction, so thanks for affirming my efforts, and
2. Re Verizon, you don't have to shoulder alone. Why not, instead, do something that all big companies dread: start a class action law suit against them?!! Attorneys will handle this on a contingency fee basis (meaning that you don't pay anything out of your own pocket; instead, legal counsel gets a % of the class' winnings, if it does win.
Bringing more justice to this world is a blessing for humanity. Creating a blessing means that you will have more blessings sprouting up in your own life.
Other than that, please take better care of yourself! If you don't, then you won't be there for your lovely wife and for everyone else who cares for you.
Also, have you ever considered sponsoring a camp or private school that helps abused children? In the very least, have you ever thought of being a motivational speaker (part-time), to lift up the hearts of the battered and blistered children, to give them hope, and to let them know that they too have the chance to overcome?

I use to be a tech at Verizon Wireless. Their policy specifically prohibits what the technician did. It was a matter of social engineering that caused it. Technicians get calls every day from people who don't remember their security pins and many techs are hired with almost no initial computer knowledge and zero knowledge of computer security or social engineering. There's training that's provided, but it doesn't 'sink in' with everyone very well. So it probably won't cause a change in policy as the policy already doesn't permit the actions that occurred.
OMG I don't know if this is due to Verizon but starting about a month ago I've been getting multiple daily scam calls and texts! I heard from a friend that it's probably Verizon but it's gotten so out of control I had to download an app to catch the call before it rings and to warn me before opening certain texts.
I'm livid. I never have had this problem.
Boogie, your friend gave you awesome advice. Be the game changer, be the one that fights back. If it's not you, then who will do it (if anyone would)? I understand the hassle and hell that would be but wrong is wrong and no company should be justified in hurting people's privacy (and peace of mind).

Interesting that the keyword is water. Recently, I've made the commitment to drink water and only water in favor of sugary drinks. It has been a sort of test of personal willpower, and I have to say that it's harder than I thought. I suspected I may have had a caffeine addiction, but this has definitely of assured me of it. I look at soda and especially tea lustfully now, and have that little voice urging me to go for it. My teeth ache and I salivate like mad (even with good hygiene habits). It's crazy (and a little scary) to fully understand your addiction to something by forcefully removing yourself from it.

I spent €20 on PTCGO, but that's money I gave to people in exchange for packs instead of the big company, so at least I helped them. I could trade those packs and get everything I want by trading for better deals all the time, but I don't know enough about it. I do think it's worth to get a good deck or multiple decks instead of just theme decks, because it's annoying how they put crappy cards in there and if you change them for better cards, you have to go against decks with EXs and GXs suddenly because there's no format without those insanely strong Pokemon. It's all or nothing. Terrible theme decks vs overpowered expensive decks.

I left Verizon for Tmobile 6 weeks ago and am saving well over $100 a month with unlimited data. Best of all is when I complain that my account has been hacked they actually fix it.......sad but true.

grapedrank666 We had a family plan with 5 lines and 60 Gb of data coming to around $600 - $700 a month depending on charges and all. Now that I'm off it they dropped to 12 Gb of data and even with my phone bill ($168 with unlimited data and new phone) we save about $180.
The shitty thing is as a Verizon customer you pay a fee when you upgrade your phone after 2 years. They used to have 'free phones' then said they were going to start charging atleast 30 dollars for phones so they could in turn take that money and use it to better train their employees. Yet the employees in the Verizon Stores are useless unless you plan on buying a new phone or replacing a broken phone, and when you call them their tech support is beyond stupid and unhelpful. I HATE. HATE. HATEEEEEE Verizon with a passion but you can't argue with facts. They have the best, fastest coverage in the country. I can be in a field standing next to a cow in rural Kansas. Not a town for miles, and still have at least 3 bars of 4G.
No other cellphone company allows info like this just by calling them. You have to have security measures in place. My girlfriend works with a woman who can't change her plan features or anything with Sprint because the account was set up in her Husband's name and he's now dead. There's no excuse for the lack of security on Verizon's part. You should sue them for everything you can. But especially make sure that the security policies are changed.
About the Abuse you went through: I had some dealings with abuse too. It was not any where near the scale of yours but it kept me from making connections with people. I guess its a way to protect myself. I hate confrontation, and i keep to myself. I am getting better about it, but its a hard road. Your wife is your best support, and you two stick together, and i believe things will get better bro.

I agree that this type of thing needs to be confronted in order to address the lapse in procedure at the company, and to protect others. Unfortunately, in terms of public perception it could be damaging to your public image in terms of monetary gains if you decide to take compensation in an action like this.
I would suggest proceeding with legal action (very publicly) with the aim to potentially damage their reputation, with financial damage included as motivation, along with a stipulation requiring a change to the security procedures that lead to this breach.
I think that donating the majority of the financial recompense to one of the TH-cam worthy funds that protect creators in the event of unfounded catastrophic legal attacks (many of which we have seen so recently), would verify that your motivation is for the protection of the community, and not for personal gain.
I have full faith in your sincerity with regards to this, but the reality is that people will be informed…or somewhat misinformed, and will subsequently judge you based on the actions taken if this becomes a legal issue.

As some others have said, different people connect differently based on experience. I know people who are people magnets but who really don't like people all that much. I know people who desperately want to get to know more people but they have problems connecting. I see people with hundreds and thousands of "friends" on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media. I have 40 but anyone who knows me will say that I'm really friendly. Connection isn't the only thing to consider, depth of connection is important too. Your spouse should be the deepest connection you have. After all, you made some serious promises in front of all of your people and someone you recognized as an authority figure concerning that person. Usually, you take that kind of thing seriously, think about it for a long time beforehand, and, depending on your spiritual leanings, you consider them a part of yourself. Too many people forget that your spouse is supposed to be your other half. Your best friend. Your strongest defender and your most devoted supporter. Not that they won't stop you from being stupid if necessary! If you have that, I am happy for you.
On a lighter note, I have been making fruit infused water lately. Just good old water and some slices of whatever fruit is in season, no sugar, no extra fluffery. I don't recommend you eat the fruit after, it is a weird and yucky thing after the flavor is removed. If you make citrus waters I do recommend that you zest the fruit onto some cheesecloth to make a zest packet and put that in the water for a few hours. Using citrus slices exposes the pith (that bitter, white part between skin and fruit) and can make the water bitter. Cucumber, mint, and other herbs are also good for infusing water if you want an alternative to fruit as some fruit can be restricted for some diets.

I agree with your friend on the Verizon thing. It's way too often that big utility companies push around single individuals, until they push back. These companies function in a way that basically turn them into modern day bullies because they know that most people won't do anything about it, and if they do, then the big company will just go ahead and concede on that one occasion. In the long run they benefit from acting like this, so they continue to do it.
I think surrounding yourself with these positive influences like your wife, dog, home and friends goes a long way to healing age old wounds. Keep cultivating those positive perceptions man.

I can relate to that feeling. I find it hard to connect with people as well. I have one or two friends and as good as they are to me, I can't say that my ability to care about them goes very far. I feel very disconnected from my family too. I feel like I'm a family of one most of the time. So, I can understand what you said here. I'm glad that you're getting better because this is something that is very hard to live with on top of anxiety. I wish you well in the future.

No carbonation after awhile when you're used to carbonation.
That still doesn't make sense though, water hydrates, pure and simple, carbonation doesn't really come into the equation one way or the other, at least not to a significant degree.
Water is honestly amazing. When you make the switch from other drinks it may seem boring and what not but it just becomes a habit. I've been mainly drinking water for about 1-2 years now. I only drink water at the house with the occasional carbonated water. Plus I'm trying the keto diet so I need to drink lots of it! I'm down to 266 from 295. I don't see the difference in any way but the actual number. The only thing it gets me hope for is my sexiness when I'm down to where I want to be.
I'm also drinking water. My favorite drink use to be Diet Coke, now I barely drink any soda at home.
