Genuinely hope the guy gets some kind of award for his performance. He shifted gears (pun intended) so smoothly that it felt like he was playing two separate characters to perfection
They've always been shown to be like that, even when they do kill, they're shown to make use of the bodies. Even in this movie it showed the Xeno taking the dead bodies to the nest. Edit for my sanity: in this movie they don’t show you it learning or adapting, they flat out tell you repeatedly what it’s doing or what it’s going to do even tho they haven’t observed it learning or problem solving yet. And the xenomorph was never put into a position to adapt, only react. They should have showed instead of told. Andy flat out says take a gun, it knows it’s a weapon. How?
pretty sure they did this to further hint that they have higher comprehension or a hint of compassion for another due to human dna. I do agree, the way that it was shown was shoe horned in.
my mom loves the alien series for this reason. they're not mindless slashers, much more on the contrary. they're essentially working like a hive of wasps, and that's what makes them terrifying: the horrific shit you see the xenomorphs do is just your average tuesday to them.
They’ve been like this from the beginning… and were like this in the dark horse comics and books. If they had a hive/eggs they would try to keep people alive to impregnate. Now that didn’t mean they weren’t violent. Sure they’d snap off limbs or cripple people, but you can live (long enough) without a hand. Usually they only killed immediately threats like soldiers but save the civies/scientists/colonists for hosts

While true, using face huggers is the fastest way to get more Xenomorphs for sure, a dead body is still useful. Dead bodies can be used for egg morphing which, on the Romulus, is probably required due to a lack of evidence for a queen. Most of those face huggers wouldn’t last very long with a max time of 120 hours after being freed. If the hive was being smart the creating eggs might be a priority since eggs are highly durable and long lasting.

Xenomorph was screeching to alert facehugger to get her after grabbing her. But I do agree the gentle placing of the main character towards the ladder was a bit weird. To better convey this scene they could have the tail wrapped around her. With another camera angle showing the face hugger rushing up the elevator shaft to get her. That would make it awesome instead of a wtf moment for viewing experience.
Also I don't think that's how gravity works. With how she was falling it would probably still kill her getting grabbed by that Xenomorph, but you know... Movies. Still a very good movie.
The xenomorph drones are supposed to find hosts for the colony to keep expanding. So I think that the one bad scene actually makes sense, cuz they are trying to make a colony

They made Kay quite possibly have one of the most depressing roles in any movie especially considering she didn't even have anything to do with the ship in the first place. She became the most victimized character for absolutely no reason.
It really was super brutal with her and she genuinely did nothing to deserve it (though I do find it funny when movies justify horrible things happening to certain characters by making them flawed/unlikeable people) Ultimately, I think what she meant thematically hit the whole "visceral femininity" aspect of the entire franchise on the head. It was almost too literal, imo, given the ending. But everything since the very first movie has been at least partially about the horror of s*x and motherhood and childbirth. I think it's a really good fit to the sub themes of Alien and HR Giger work - it's all representing r@*e in space and it also comments on how helpless women, especially pregnant women are in our society... Maybe looking too much into it but if you read up more and look at all the phallic and reproductive organism symbols in the designs lots of things make sense

*Spoilers:* I’m not gonna lie, when watching the scene of the Xenomorph catching the main character, I fully thought it was the pregnant woman who injected herself with the Xeno-fluid and became a sentient Xenomorph.
9:20 the reason the xenomorph didn't kill her is because it knew that she would be the last host for the face huggers, and you can actually see a face hugger close to them and the xenomorph was waiting for her to get impregnated by the face hugger. I actually thought the same thing while walking out of the theater but then my dad explained it and it made sense.

The Xenomorph's goal is not to kill its prey, but to fertilize it and keep it alive so that the new Xenomorph can feed on the resources of the human body during the incubation process... + The Xenomorph is a predator, its goal is to grab its prey, the fact that Rain will fall to certain death is not his concern... I think Charles is giving the Xenomorphs too much credit, they are just natural predators not mathematicians 😅
For the xenomorphs themselves, Alvarez also goes largely back to basics, using a combination of full-scale animatronic models, puppetry, stunt people wearing animatronic heads and CG. The creatures remain among the most truly petrifying movie monsters in history, and the director leans hard into the sci-fi/horror with a relentlessly paced entry that reminds us why they have haunted our imaginations for decades.
gotta give props to the uruguayan director, he gave a talk here in my country where he talks on how uruguayan cinematography is very limited (due to us just being 3 million and without a lot of funding), so knowing that being in hollywood was something that not every uruguayan could have, he knew that he had to something good, and show that our small country has talent
The director did a really great job, cool that you can see someone from your country accomplish something like this. I'm also from a smaller country, I know the feeling ^^
What was nice too is that Fede Alvarez filmed the movie in Chronological order which is relatively rare for movies for budget reasons, but it makes it a lot easier for the actors so they can stay in character a lot easier and stay on track to what is going on.
There's two endings in this film. The first one is the "God damn what a motherfucking bad ass that lead character is. Ripley would be proud." The second is "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING" in a cosmic horror sort of way that was obscenely well executed and mothafuckin freaky Watch this shit

The acting was great but it was pretty bad overall. I did think that starting at the half hour mark it was incredible for a solid 20 minutes. But really fell off after that
Do they kill? Yes, but only in more isolated cases. Generally, they bring their severely injured prey to be infected or turned into an egg (yes, they can do this if there are no facehuggers available).
Actually crazy surprised at how many people seem to have missed the facehugger in the elevator shaft and don't seem to understand how the Alien drones/warriors function. Breed > Kill. Reason the other guy was killed after being pulled up was he was about to start blasting like she did 10 minutes later in the zero grav scene. It literally cuts to the gun then to his death. Once the facehugger latched on I bet it would of just ignored Andy and brought her back down to the little hive they had set up. Has no one watch Aliens before? I guess Newt being kidnapped and not killed is goofy too now.
No dude people have watched aliens, it's just the scene in the elevator wasn't portrayed particularly clearly and the scene itself could have been sped up a bit to convey more imminent danger instead of the weird stare down they have.

The Alien franchise always had a 4th act confrontation after the "ending", Isolation was absolutly not the inspiration, every movie in the franchise did it from the very first movie (1: shuttle expulsion, 2: queen fight, 3: Wayland confrontation, 4: the newborn is on the ship, Prometheus: engineer comes back, Covenant: hangar confrontation)

The Xenomorph “saved” Rain’s life but that’s only so she could be impregnated by a Facehugger. It did hiss in her face but that was to keep Rain in place while the Facehugger got to her. There are shots showing a Facehugger getting closer to her ready to pounce.
my buddy and i were talking abt that. I said i dont like that scene saying it was unrealistic plot armour, but my buddy brought up the point that: *SPOILER WARNING* . . . . . . . . . . . It was probably to have one human nearby to impregnate because the last xenomorph realize they were about to die in that ship during that scene, so it was trying to save a host to make another xenomorph colony. Extremely subtle yet clever detail imo.

I appreciate what they did with Rain as a female protagonist, they made her strong and smart but most importantly the gave her a reason WHY she could be so badass. I was rooting for her and I really wanted to see her make it out with her loved one. It was fun and had me invested, that's all i want in a movie.
Bro Rains character is great. I thought the girl who was pregnant was a little better than rain somehow I don’t know I just felt like because she was pregnant she had a better chance of surviving and maybe becoming the main character sadly I was wrong lol I will say that the actor who plays Andy deserves a f*cking award because he played the best synthetic I’ve ever f*cking seen. He was way better than Michael fassbender in Prometheus. I will say I felt like they were trying to make Rain similar to Ripley but sorry not sorry she’ll never be as strong as a character as f*cking Ellen Ripley.
Yes! And I have to disagree with Charlie here, I actually cared about all of the characters. They gave us just as much as we needed. The main point was that they all wanted to get tf out and hated being exploited at their work. Fairly relatable. Even Bjorn, my least favorite, had a compelling reason to hate Andy. I definitely agree that each character did what made sense, especially under the insane circumstances. It's what makes Alien movies so great. ❤👌🏾
That ending literally left me and my friend speechless. I've never experienced a movie that had that effect on me. 9/10 movie for me. One of the best movies of the summer.
i think what i loved most about this movie was the director took EVERY good aspect of every alien movie and incorporated it into this movie, the isolation & the hunt of the first movie, the bug hunt of the 2nd, dirty grimey aesthetic of the 3rd, and the dna aspect of the 4th, they even connect it to prometheus & covenant, which i appreciated so much
I think it was good for fan service but it also holds this movie back from becoming as good as the first two. It really felt like the first half was set to return it to that level of greatness and then Disney said we need nostalgia and so the second half of the movie was good but didn't live up to the story telling of the first half
I too jumped at the final scare from that Orphan of Kos looking thing. I thought it was all over, it got dropped into the planet’s ring and died, but no, it gave one last scare.

The reason why the Alien saved Raine from falling and was just staring her down was because it was waiting for the face hugger to get her, you can see the face hugger about to pounce before Andy shoots it
Hopefully Charlie sees this, but in the history of the Xenomorphs and in this movie, we see the Xenomorphs not instantly kill it's prey because their "prime directive" is to procreate. It saved her because they know they need people alive in order for the face huggers to do their thing. They don't know the ship is going to crash so they will continue to do so, like any parasite. They kill certain people that they deem as threats, hence why they killed both of the male characters because they were more aggressive. Rain wasn't armed(like Andy had presumed would be a deterrent), so the threat level was 0%
Exactly. I really liked how the movie portrayed how intelligent they are. Don't get me wrong, I love ALIENS, but they were more of a zerg swarm in that movie.
@@welcome_to_the_own_zone In aliens it makes sense they were aggressive, the Marines were well armed and doing extreme amounts of damage to any alien therefore a threat to the nest. One of the best ways to deal with a threat is to overwhelm, esp when they were fortified in room & attacking the nest. That said I would of loved to see a few moments where their intelligence is a bit more obvious.
I do think the scene went for too long, the xenomorph just kinda puts her back gently on the ladder and looks at her for like 30s before the facehugger appears. If the scene went quicker and the xenomorph was more agressive in trying to restrain her, the scene wouldve been better I think

Not just to impregnate her, but also to take revenge for the loss of his arm by Rain's gunshots. Xenomorphs are gifted with emotions, and are very resentful.
I liked the fact Raine's love interest was likely Weyland cannon fodder sent to recover the black goo. Its hinted at several times regarding him mentioning his new position with Weyland, knowing of a derelect station that allegedly the rest of the planet didnt know of, him having detailed knowledge of the pulse rifle, and him mentioning several times that it was all his fault. Also, regarding the xenomorph saving Raine it actually makes a lot of sense, it was trying to let the facehugger impregnate her. Its made clear multiple times the xenos dont want to hurt the people they want to make into hosts, for example, Andy mentions the pregnant girl not getting a facehugger on her due to her bleeding.
Main quality: IT'S NEVER BORING. The full exposition/mythology dump for the kids comes early on and only takes two or three minutes, then it's a thrill ride until the end.
As a big Alien franchise fan I loved how faithful Fede wanted this movie to be, and it really showed. From the opening sequence til the final act, it had everything that made Alien 1979 so so good. It stayed true to it's roots and I'm so glad this was in the hands of a director that has already dipped their toes in horror. Loved Cailee's performance, loved how they went back to using animatronics and practical effects for the xenomophs again, and I loved the big major xeno reveal of the final act.
Fun fact since Alien Isolation is Canon, this only takes place a few years after those events. Which is about 10 years after the original alien. The thing I love about alien is how pretty much everything is canon, there’s dozens of books, comic books, manuals, movies, and anything else you can think of that fit perfectly inside this timeline. It gives you a lot to explore and a lot of cool connections.
Tbf, in that instance, he was listening to his own sister begging for help, and had he remained silent, she actually would have died, so I can see he was willing to risk his safety to protect her.

I understood the gravity falling scene like this: The Xenomorph wanted to impregnate Rain by the facehugger that was nearby so he saved her by the tail and just cornered her instead of killing her and waited for the facehugger to do it´s job.
It’s been shown in video games, that Alien’s will hold a human in place for a face hugger to get them. That’s exactly what the Xeno was doing there. Just scaring her so she wouldn’t move.
Now that I think about it, it's a great contrast to the Offspring, shows how human it is at it killed for fun of it going by its facial expressions or since it's newly born it doesn't understand to keep people alive
That "stupid" "bad" scene is the Xenomorph making sure as many "living" hosts can be face-hugged, adding to the hive. The predatory procreation of the Xenomorphs is like their main attribute that differentiates them from other horrors in this genre

This movie did what i felt Doctor Sleep did. Where Doctor Sleep was able to successfully honor both King and Kubrick's version of the story, Romulus managed to honor both Alien/Aliens and Prometheus
This is my head cannon for when the xenomorph saved rain. Since it’s the start of a new hive, xenomorphs will get as many hosts as they can in order to increase their population which is why it saved rain. Yea it took its time which was cringe and the scene after when Andy killed it was kinda cringe, I still liked it because to me it shows aliens have intelligence to preserve potential hosts for the hive.

That scene was 100% goofy. It gave cringe vibes the way they handled it, even the killing of that Xeno was extremely cringe. If you do not realize in the moment what is even going on, the Director failed in conveying something to the audience. That was that moment

David Johnson as the synthetic delivered an impeccable performance as Andy. Gorgeous cinematography and visceral imagery, with inventive horror set pieces that were spectacularly fun and multilayered in greatness. Fede Alvarez absolutely nailed the atmosphere of Romulus conveying the notion of helplessness, whilst keeping it suspenseful and gorgeously bleak
9:30. I think the point of the xenomorph "saving her life," is that they aren't trying to just kill people. They're trying to hunt for food, thus it wanted to keep Rain in its grasp to take her back to their hive.
I like the whole Franchise. It's hard to compete with yourself especially when the first two movies are considered a masterpiece of horror and the second being a masterpiece of action and thrills. The rest of the series is lukewarm but not unwatchable. Alien 3 has a lot going for it but it basically makes the ending of the second one all for nothing and way too bleak. The bleakness works but not at the expense of those beloved characters.
This is the force awakens of alien movies. It’s nothing unique nothing original. Covenant, Prometheus and alien 3 do not deserve to be given this treatment, they were at the very least unique and original with better dialogue and visually the same amount of polish

most unbelievable part of this movie was the "match the room to your body temperature" idea. as soon as they opened the door the temperature shouldve started changing again and they would've been seen. then they had the guy stand still and have a full conversation on the radio while they were meant to be quiet and moving. my eyes rolled so far back into my head
A Xenomorph can't use a dead human as a host for a facehugger, the Xenomorph grabbing her makes sense. It's kinda like how Ripley in Alien 3 was left alone by the runner alien, she had a Queen growing inside her
The not running sideways scene had nothing on the terrified biologist scared out of his mind suddenly losing all fear and trying to pet a space cobra that's clearly hostile.
And then of course, the one person who gets the most lost in the caverns is the CARTOGRAPHER, the ONE person of the group who was selected because he was the best at mapping out locations?? Prometheus was pretty and had some interesting ideas and all but goddamn was that movie flawed.

One thing he didn't mention is, there were a lot of nice references to Alien and Aliens, it was really good fan service to people who have watched the previous movies. I got chills at the end when (spoilers for alien 1 and this movie I guess) Rain did the iconic "This is Ripley. Last survivor of the Nostromo. Signing off." speech. The "get away from her you bitch" scene was also pretty hype, and Rook basically being the continuation of Ash from Alien 1979 and his name being a reference to Bishop, and him being such an integral part of the plot was really nice to see
yes alot of ppl never watched the original alien movies, a lot of homage and refrences in this movie. Including the ending being similar to alien ressurection but better.
It wasn't shot, it was meant to be where the other guy damaged it with the electric cattle prod when it was in the egg. As in that damaged part at the point was meant to demonstrate to the audience that it was a somewhat special xeno (the original one that killed all her friends).
The Xenomorphs have always had a biomechanical element to them too - so seeing it retain that electric current is just a nod to their nature as 'the perfect organism' and to what Giger implied all those decades ago
A defenseless person falling from the sky is basically free real-estate as far as a xenomorph is concerned. I don't think her being caught is all that surprising given that context.

This movie has a lot of really awesome details that movies haven't explored a ton. Charlie when you talked about the Xenomorph saving her, ill tell you why and I'll tell you why it makes sense in the universe. If you remember in Alien 3, a xeno approaches Ripley, but spares her because Ripley has a chest burster in her at the time. This shows that the Xeno, is not a mindless killer, but works for the hive. And in many comics and games, Xenonorphs show rational thought for the hive. In this case, Rain or Rein, just slaughtered many of the hives drones. This xenomorph was trying to capture her so it could nest her and then a face hugger could do it's thing. It's a thing they do quite often, where they instead of kill outright, they'll capture for later.
@penquinz0 During the spoiler part you mentioned, the Xenormorph caught the character to have a face hugger use them. Most of the time the Xenomorphs aren't trying to immediately kill humans they don't see as a threat, they're trying to catch them so they can be impregnated by the face huggers. This happens earlier in the film with another one of the characters and throughout the series.
The elevator scene was by far one of the best idk what you're talking about charlie. The Xenos have been known for previously taking people alive because they need live hosts.
When I saw that scene in the cinema I knew people will bring it up but it really makes sense that the xenomorph wanted to eat her / preserve her for birth, it can't do anything to do with Andy, everyone else is dead except Kay which is on the ship further away ready to leave.

my mom loves the alien series for this reason. they're not mindless slashers, much more on the contrary. they're essentially working like a hive of wasps, and that's what makes them terrifying: the horrific shit you see the xenomorphs do is just your average tuesday to them.
They’ve been like this from the beginning… and were like this in the dark horse comics and books. If they had a hive/eggs they would try to keep people alive to impregnate. Now that didn’t mean they weren’t violent. Sure they’d snap off limbs or cripple people, but you can live (long enough) without a hand. Usually they only killed immediately threats like soldiers but save the civies/scientists/colonists for hosts

While true, using face huggers is the fastest way to get more Xenomorphs for sure, a dead body is still useful. Dead bodies can be used for egg morphing which, on the Romulus, is probably required due to a lack of evidence for a queen. Most of those face huggers wouldn’t last very long with a max time of 120 hours after being freed. If the hive was being smart the creating eggs might be a priority since eggs are highly durable and long lasting.

They made Kay quite possibly have one of the most depressing roles in any movie especially considering she didn't even have anything to do with the ship in the first place. She became the most victimized character for absolutely no reason.

Ultimately, I think what she meant thematically hit the whole "visceral femininity" aspect of the entire franchise on the head. It was almost too literal, imo, given the ending. gotta give props to the uruguayan director, he gave a talk here in my country where he talks on how uruguayan cinematography is very limited (due to us just being 3 million and without a lot of funding), so knowing that being in hollywood was something that not every uruguayan could have, he knew that he had to something good, and show that our small country has talent

Fede Alvarez is incredible! His 2013 version of Evil Dead is one of my top favorite horror movies ever. Love his work. He nailed this movie imo

i think what i loved most about this movie was the director took EVERY good aspect of every alien movie and incorporated it into this movie, the isolation & the hunt of the first movie, the bug hunt of the 2nd, dirty grimey aesthetic of the 3rd, and the dna aspect of the 4th, they even connect it to prometheus & covenant, which i appreciated so much
I think it was good for fan service but it also holds this movie back from becoming as good as the first two. It really felt like the first half was set to return it to that level of greatness and then Disney said we need nostalgia and so the second half of the movie was good but didn't live up to the story telling of the first half

The reason why the Alien saved Raine from falling and was just staring her down was because it was waiting for the face hugger to get her, you can see the face hugger about to pounce before Andy shoots it
Hopefully Charlie sees this, but in the history of the Xenomorphs and in this movie, we see the Xenomorphs not instantly kill it's prey because their "prime directive" is to procreate. It saved her because they know they need people alive in order for the face huggers to do their thing. They don't know the ship is going to crash so they will continue to do so, like any parasite. They kill certain people that they deem as threats, hence why they killed both of the male characters because they were more aggressive. Rain wasn't armed(like Andy had presumed would be a deterrent), so the threat level was 0%
Exactly. I really liked how the movie portrayed how intelligent they are. Don't get me wrong, I love ALIENS, but they were more of a zerg swarm in that movie.

One of the best ways to deal with a threat is to overwhelm, esp when they were fortified in room & attacking the nest.
That said I would of loved to see a few moments where their intelligence is a bit more obvious.
I do think the scene went for too long, the xenomorph just kinda puts her back gently on the ladder and looks at her for like 30s before the facehugger appears. If the scene went quicker and the xenomorph was more agressive in trying to restrain her, the scene wouldve been better I think

Not just to impregnate her, but also to take revenge for the loss of his arm by Rain's gunshots. Xenomorphs are gifted with emotions, and are very resentful.
I liked the fact Raine's love interest was likely Weyland cannon fodder sent to recover the black goo. Its hinted at several times regarding him mentioning his new position with Weyland, knowing of a derelect station that allegedly the rest of the planet didnt know of, him having detailed knowledge of the pulse rifle, and him mentioning several times that it was all his fault. Also, regarding the xenomorph saving Raine it actually makes a lot of sense, it was trying to let the facehugger impregnate her. Its made clear multiple times the xenos dont want to hurt the people they want to make into hosts, for example, Andy mentions the pregnant girl not getting a facehugger on her due to her bleeding.
The moment dude used gravity to rip a cigerette as a party trick i knew this was gonna be a good one.
Main quality: IT'S NEVER BORING. The full exposition/mythology dump for the kids comes early on and only takes two or three minutes, then it's a thrill ride until the end.

My interpretation of the Xenomorph saving her was to ultimately preserve her for the nest to allow a face hugger to make more spawn.
As a big Alien franchise fan I loved how faithful Fede wanted this movie to be, and it really showed. From the opening sequence til the final act, it had everything that made Alien 1979 so so good. It stayed true to it's roots and I'm so glad this was in the hands of a director that has already dipped their toes in horror. Loved Cailee's performance, loved how they went back to using animatronics and practical effects for the xenomophs again, and I loved the big major xeno reveal of the final act.

Fun fact since Alien Isolation is Canon, this only takes place a few years after those events. Which is about 10 years after the original alien.
The thing I love about alien is how pretty much everything is canon, there’s dozens of books, comic books, manuals, movies, and anything else you can think of that fit perfectly inside this timeline. It gives you a lot to explore and a lot of cool connections.

It saved Rain because a face hugger was inbound to latch onto her but was stopped by Andy.
I understood the gravity falling scene like this: The Xenomorph wanted to impregnate Rain by the facehugger that was nearby so he saved her by the tail and just cornered her instead of killing her and waited for the facehugger to do it´s job.
It’s been shown in video games, that Alien’s will hold a human in place for a face hugger to get them. That’s exactly what the Xeno was doing there. Just scaring her so she wouldn’t move.
Now that I think about it, it's a great contrast to the Offspring, shows how human it is at it killed for fun of it going by its facial expressions or since it's newly born it doesn't understand to keep people alive

Their entire job is to get protect the hive and get hosts. Rain was the perfect host in this instance. Unharmed and unable to defend herself. Of course it was going to 'save' her. This movie did what i felt Doctor Sleep did. Where Doctor Sleep was able to successfully honor both King and Kubrick's version of the story, Romulus managed to honor both Alien/Aliens and Prometheus

This is my head cannon for when the xenomorph saved rain. Since it’s the start of a new hive, xenomorphs will get as many hosts as they can in order to increase their population which is why it saved rain. Yea it took its time which was cringe and the scene after when Andy killed it was kinda cringe, I still liked it because to me it shows aliens have intelligence to preserve potential hosts for the hive.
I mean there’s a scene straight after showing a face hugger coming towards her but Andy shoots it before it can latch on

David Johnson as the synthetic delivered an impeccable performance as Andy. Gorgeous cinematography and visceral imagery, with inventive horror set pieces that were spectacularly fun and multilayered in greatness. Fede Alvarez absolutely nailed the atmosphere of Romulus conveying the notion of helplessness, whilst keeping it suspenseful and gorgeously bleak
9:30. I think the point of the xenomorph "saving her life," is that they aren't trying to just kill people. They're trying to hunt for food, thus it wanted to keep Rain in its grasp to take her back to their hive.

I like the whole Franchise. It's hard to compete with yourself especially when the first two movies are considered a masterpiece of horror and the second being a masterpiece of action and thrills. The rest of the series is lukewarm but not unwatchable. Alien 3 has a lot going for it but it basically makes the ending of the second one all for nothing and way too bleak. The bleakness works but not at the expense of those beloved characters.

You can clearly see... that the alien saved the main character because a facehugger is near her on the wall, and the alien just wanted to keep her on the ladder until the hugger captures her.

most unbelievable part of this movie was the "match the room to your body temperature" idea. as soon as they opened the door the temperature shouldve started changing again and they would've been seen. then they had the guy stand still and have a full conversation on the radio while they were meant to be quiet and moving. my eyes rolled so far back into my head

One thing he didn't mention is, there were a lot of nice references to Alien and Aliens, it was really good fan service to people who have watched the previous movies. I got chills at the end when (spoilers for alien 1 and this movie I guess)
Rain did the iconic "This is Ripley. Last survivor of the Nostromo. Signing off." speech. The "get away from her you bitch" scene was also pretty hype, and Rook basically being the continuation of Ash from Alien 1979 and his name being a reference to Bishop, and him being such an integral part of the plot was really nice to see

yes alot of ppl never watched the original alien movies, a lot of homage and refrences in this movie. Including the ending being similar to alien ressurection but better.
It wasn't shot, it was meant to be where the other guy damaged it with the electric cattle prod when it was in the egg. As in that damaged part at the point was meant to demonstrate to the audience that it was a somewhat special xeno (the original one that killed all her friends).
The Xenomorphs have always had a biomechanical element to them too - so seeing it retain that electric current is just a nod to their nature as 'the perfect organism' and to what Giger implied all those decades ago

This movie has a lot of really awesome details that movies haven't explored a ton. Charlie when you talked about the Xenomorph saving her, ill tell you why and I'll tell you why it makes sense in the universe. If you remember in Alien 3, a xeno approaches Ripley, but spares her because Ripley has a chest burster in her at the time. This shows that the Xeno, is not a mindless killer, but works for the hive. And in many comics and games, Xenonorphs show rational thought for the hive. In this case, Rain or Rein, just slaughtered many of the hives drones. This xenomorph was trying to capture her so it could nest her and then a face hugger could do it's thing. It's a thing they do quite often, where they instead of kill outright, they'll capture for later.
@penquinz0 During the spoiler part you mentioned, the Xenormorph caught the character to have a face hugger use them. Most of the time the Xenomorphs aren't trying to immediately kill humans they don't see as a threat, they're trying to catch them so they can be impregnated by the face huggers. This happens earlier in the film with another one of the characters and throughout the series.
The elevator scene was by far one of the best idk what you're talking about charlie. The Xenos have been known for previously taking people alive because they need live hosts.
