    Thank you very much for posting this video. For what it's worth, that saved me a lot of misery. I had to replace the engine harness and I had one wire left and could not figure out where it went. Your video showed me where it plugged in (oil pressure sender behind the filter). Beautiful job. I don't think mine was that clean when it left the factory.

    Hi Dan,
    Could you kindly advise what spray did you use to protect your engine/gearbox after your have blasted these two big parts?
    I have a friends that does blasting, but I am not sure what colour and what brand of the spray I should use to give my engine a nice fresh look like yours?
    Many thanks for your help,
    Marvin

    For a 1975 XJ6C, what are easy ways to boost power and increase fuel economy? My goal is 280-300 hp. Anyone increased compression with the 9:1 pistons? Added fuel injection? Or is it better to take another Jag and swap in the engine, FI, rear end, etc.? What are good engine swaps? I'd prefer to stick with Jag engines. Ok, now to look for XJ6 dropped spindles

    my uncle has a '86 xjs with a v12 that he inherited from his mother 11 years ago, and he had to have the heads redone on it when he first got it. he said it was a very big job and that he does not wanna do it again. he was also thinking about converting to a chevy engine if this one gives him trouble. I forget which engine, but he said people have done the engine swap with success, so it's a possibility.

    • @mds2465
      @mds2465 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well there could be a lot of things going on with it. You should check out Scotty Kilmer channel particularly his videos on "how to fix an overheating car" and "how to fix a car that doesn't start" it's gotta be one of those. Could be any one of those. Check for vacuum leaks too.

    • @mds2465
      @mds2465 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah and I have learned a lot from him over the years. Since u said your overflow tank is full u have a serious problem and u really need to fix that before u can safely drive the car anywhere. Did u bleed out the cooling system when u changed the radiator. If not, you may very well have air in the cooling system. And in that case have a mechanic pressure bleed it with a machine because that will absolutely get all the air out. As for the no start, you're gonna have to do some more diagnostic work on that. Have a mechanic hook up a dealer level scan tool and drive it around. And when it dies they can figure out exactly where the trouble is, that way u won't be just guessing.

    • @mds2465
      @mds2465 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be a weak fuel pump. Honda fuel pumps don't go bad often but pressure check the system and see if you have low pressure. As for the overflow tank u have something else going on there. Maybe a bad condenser fan or something to that nature. Maybe even check to see if the head gasket is blown. Scotty has a video on that also. I doubt it is that bc Hondas hardy ever have that happen now that they have steel gaskets, but try that test and see if it comes out positive or negative.

    • @mds2465
      @mds2465 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well now that u say the head gasket was done already, are u sure it was done properly. Were all the bolts torqued down right did u have the cylinder head redone? If not u may need to check that over bc that may be the source of your problem.
      And honestly if you think you're getting way over your head, do yourself a favor and take it to a professional Honda mechanic. It sounds like you've spent a lot of money on this car already and have yielded no effective results, don't do it! Narrow it down first! Process of elimination is the key here.

    • @mds2465
      @mds2465 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well rebuilding the engine is different and that's something I don't advise doing because engines are so complex that if you're off by even 1/1000 of an inch things can get ugly at any given moment. Unless he works at a factory where they do that kind of stuff all the time, he probably didn't do it right. I would bring it back to him and explain to him the issues you're having now. He's gonna have to go back and fix all of that
