    Have you noticed all the Used Electric Cars sitting on car lots.? I drive alot up and down the CA. State, I've noticed a lot of EV showing up in these used car lots. I've even seen newer used 2023 models. That says it all, .. evidently not too many people like their EV . Looks like more are going back to Gas.

    Dealers pay attention: this is how you should all be doing business. Be responsible, be reasonable! CarMax does it right because it's good business in the long run. I sold both my cars to CarMax a few years apart and I'm car-free now, but if I ever buy another, I'll be going back to them. Good businesses are hard to come by these days.

      Carmax will turn around and easily sell that car for 75k if need be. They will take no loss, Dave on the other hand took an 18k loss. So I’m not sure I agree with the notion that carmax did the right thing.

    Hey Dave, my first Tesla was a 2018 Model S 75D. Perfect condition with 14K miles. No evidence of damage but the GPS history was never deleted. It showed 2 body shops in the GPS history, located in South Florida so I tried to call them to get a history and find out why the car was there but they refused to give information (rightly so). It is a bit unsettling to think your car was in an accident but don't know the extent of the damage or the issues. Great videos! Keep up the good work!

    On the factory reset. Just a 'pro' tip for anyone trading their car into Tesla. Do the factory reset prior to arriving to the Tesla Delivery Center. You may lose access to the car to reset the information. Tesla says they reset the car and delete personal information. Every used Tesla I have bought from Tesla still had the prior phones and home/work addresses saved in the screen.

    • @AeschylusShepherd
      @AeschylusShepherd ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I had that happen on my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe had the customers old details on them. Even a loaner car had other peoples phone details left! Very sloppy. There dealers don’t care.

    • @johnlarson7573
      @johnlarson7573 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The used Tesla I bought this past week was properly factory reset by Tesla before I took delivery of it from them but obviously that is statistically insignificant.

      People never delete any information off of anything they use. I used to be a salesman at T-Mobile and people would sign in to their apple accounts on display phones. All their personal info out in public. Banking, addresses, photos, work location. Got into an argument with a woman once about coming back to the store to sign out of her account.

Lower interest rates and if there is a problem with a new vehicle. I’m not thinking. What did the previous owner or owners do to it. I just blame the manufacturer. Not me. 😂

    Bought a 22 Telluride last year. GREAT CAR! I had a 2017 Explorer Limited, paid $39k, 24k miles. The dealer offered $26k trade in. Took it to Carmax. Sitting at the little desk waiting for the working icon to settle on the price offered. $34K! I was so excited I jumped up and shouted YES with my arms in field goal mode! And the whole place ducked and covered. :)
    There is an issue with that though. Had to pay the full $3000 tax rather than just the trade in difference.

    I think the car will be replaced with a Performance Model Y, it makes sense because the Performance Y is the best deal out there as far as performance and the Performance Y/3 and is somewhat easily available. The Performance Y is 99 percent of the S and X at 50 percent of the S/X price. I currently own one of every Tesla model and think the Performance 3’s and Y’s are underpriced if compared to their competition including the other Tesla models. I’ll go as far as guessing white interior but exterior is up in the air based on quick availability inventory…..well I didn’t get it correct, base base base model 3

  • @kenmcclow8963

    I feel lucky I only had one door handle replaced in my first 107,000 miles on my 2015 MS70D, or worried about the other three maybe. It was annoying that the handle that failed was the driver door, so I had to open the passenger side and open the driver from the inside. until Tesla got the new part in. The new door handle has a little light that the old one didn't have.
    I wanted to buy a Model Y in January when they lowered the prices plus being able to get the full tax credit for the brief period before the new rules kick in, but the trade in quote I had was $10k less than the one I had from November from CarGurus, and the Tesla trade offer was $3k below that, so I decided to cancel the sale and keep my Model S. This week I got an email with a $5k perk if I trade for a new Model S and give up my free Supercharging for life, but I was only interested in the Model Y until my Cybertruck, or Aptera is built, so I am keeping it another year or two

    Great vid. I am picking up my 4th Tesla, a Model Y LR 3/7/23 Black with trailer hitch. Tesla 😂offered me $29K for my 2018 M3P with 25K mi and FSD which I sold on Facebook for $38K. Bought my Y for $13K off recent price with $7.5K EV tax credit for net $57K-$7.5K-$38K= $11,500. Of course I paid $3.7K in tax so my net cost for a 2023 Model Y was $15,200. The used car price of my car plummeted. I decided not to waste my money on EAP or FSD as AP will be fine, and the other features are certainly not worth it as you agree.

    Dave, your always a kind and true gentleman. Unfortunately, it is the hidden that always gets us. 18K + loss is not great over 5 months. I am sorry you had to go through this but it should teach us all. CarMax and Dealers are always out to make money, or they do not stay in business. I am sure they bought the Tesla originally for about 78, 000 and you bought it for 93k, so they made about 15k on you the first time. Unfortunately, they made another 18k on you the second time. As much as you like them, they duped you and I would not be so happy as you were from this video. Buyer beware, a dealer is out for them, not for you at all times. Being the grandson of a Car Dealer, my grandfather told me, as long as you give your customers personal and amazing service throughout their car ownership, they put the cost of the car behind them.

    Given how high insurance premiums can be for Teslas, prospective buyers cant reliably depend on services like CarFax. An insurance claim raises future premiums for years to come, and lowers the cars resale value due to the claim being reported. So self repairing is many times the cheaper option for some Tesla owners.

    I bought a model y and they pushed it on me and being frist time tesla buyer I would want one that hasn’t had damage . I drove off down at to look over more and realized look like body work on drivers side passenger door so drove back to lot around total 5 miles they say I can’t get complete different one so bank stop paymeant next morn so they haven’t even got money and now they say I can’t get out of it and there sending me to collections. Really a bummer

    As for the door handle issues, frankly, MOdel Y is a much better quality car. Sad Tesla can't make their more expensive cars (S & X) with less issues, though I"ve seen some X with a lot of their old issues fixed (like the falcon doors). MOdel S though... Seems like that car still has some issues at times. As for the car market, Car prices were inflated, so it was kinda obvious it would come down, and as soon as Tesla announced the price drop... Yeah.

    First video you posted with this car you could see damage under the hood on the driver side, you really didn’t know it was damaged? That isn’t a professional repair in the port area, probably a DIY job or someone who should look for a different job because any reputable shop would do a job that isn’t easily apparent like that.
