  • Additional thoughts not covered in this video… Stalkless is not a showstopper for me; Cooled perforated seats are really nice and the ambient lighting looks awesome. I like it more than I thought. Next level soft ride and better interior… But no front bumper camera… Watch this video where I provide my first visual and quick driving impressions of the Model 3 refresh. Thank you Tesla Nesconset for the demo drive; albeit a short one. They were back to back with test drives! I did the best I could making this video for the 35 minutes I had the car. More content to come on this rig for sure.

Thanks Dave, you were the reason I bought the model 3 last year. Financially, however, my 2023 M3 rear wheel is so much less expensive that the physical differences with the refresh doesn’t matter.

Yeah same here, I pre-ordered the new m3 but after watching out of spec detail about minor differences with current I canceled the pre-order seems like differences are more noticeable from older models in terms of cabin noise and quietness 23 was already improved lot over the previous years models.

I loved my 2023 Model 3 RWD. But at 70 it was too hard to get in and out of. So I went in last week and traded it in for a Model Y LR AWD. I think the Model 3 was more sporty driving and also I saw the refreshed M3 on the lot. Great looks and I am sure it's better car than what I had but still sits pretty low.

I got to test drive the 2024 M3 rwd last weekend and it was everything I expected it to be. If only the referral program was active or I would have ordered already. I was comfortable with the stalkless steering about halfway through the drive. I just wish it was steer by wire to match the stalkless. The sound dampening inside is much better.

On June 29 last year I picked up a standard RWD in Perth Australia. And I LOVE it. Easily, at 69yo, the best car I’ve ever owned. Thank you!! And now YOU review this one! Now I’m tempted once more!!!! Please send $ in contribution!!! lol. Love your channel. Coming to Vegas and Seattle in May to see the Rolling Stones. I am going to hire a Tesla in Vegas!

Drive controls are also available on the roof between the two sun visors. Can be used in conjunction with the screen drive controls or if the LCD screen fails, so the car can still be driven. I think you guys call them the PRNDL controls.

Hey Dave, so I had a stroke when I was 42 years old (now, I’m 69). It affected my right side with the resulting loss of my right hand. We bought a Tesla Model 3 Perf. in 2021 and we just love that car. With lack of steering stalks and shifting on the screen on the new Model 3, I have to reach way over with my left hand to shift the car through the screen. Is there a way to shift without reaching my left hand so far? Perhaps through a software feature? Btw, we like your TH-cam videos. Please tell Kyle he’s very knowledgeable with regard to electric automobile infrastructure. We view him all the time. Cheers!

Great video, thanks. Tesla seem to be spending more time developing the Model 3 Performance for this refresh and so it will be interesting to see what improvements they come out with. For people who prefer a more sporty drive, the performance version is likely to be a better option, but for the majority of people the RWD and Long Range 3 with more refinement and a softer ride is a good decision I think (the firmness of the suspension was a regular complaint for the old model). I suspect that there will be more differentiation between the 'standard' models and the performance version, which would give people more choice to choose what type of driving experience they prefer.

I rented one for a week about 8 months ago, and absolutely loved the base model 3 except there was something deep in the seat on the left upper thigh area that eventually was driving me to madness. MADNESS I tell you 😄 - The feeling I got was that it was a structural part of the seat and I was just a bit too hefty for the thing. However, maybe it was just a one off. I drove the "Highland" last week.
The heated/ventilated seats definitely make the car feel more complete than the initial version.
Though the ambient lighting is unnecessary, it does help make the car feel slightly more futuristic considering the interiors of the new Mercedes EQ vehicles.
The touch-screen to shift gimmick is annoying. I think it would have been better done as simple press buttons - but fortunately the buttons have a redundancy on the ceiling panel.
The windshield wiper toggle and turn buttons take getting used to.
The rear HVAC panel's multifunctions are OK, but I'd much prefer headrest mounted LCD panels. That would be a nice option for this car.
Honestly, with Tesla, it's like taking 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. Everything they do reeks of lack of beta testing - evident by all the problems they're having with the Cybertruck now.
The Model 3 and Model Y will both benefit from these improvements I think.

We just bought a gently used 2023 Tesla Model X Plaid identical spec to yours (except ours has the yoke) and we have a 2022 Tesla Model 3 RWD with the LFP. As nice as the Plaid X is, I'm just in love with our 'legacy' Model 3. Plenty of usable power, a really comfortable cockpit and despite the stiffer/sportier suspension it's just a really fun car to drive and I can't recommend it enough. Toss in the ability to routinely charge to 100% and it's a home run. Great video!!

Standard range is around 4 to 5 days of your commute. If you had access to a L2 charger near where you live or work, charging every 3-4 days would seem to be about right. If Superchargers are on your path, that would work too, although more expensive for (EV) fuel.

My biggest gripes with the modern teslas are the lack of sensors which sucks for parking, highway driving, and still windshield wiping. It rains a lot in Vancouver, we simply cannot just rely on cameras. The turning stalk and putting the car in Drive is no problemos. The lack of sensors are things i cannot cope with still.

    • @dennislyon5412

Backup sensing on 1-2 year old M3 that I rented was pretty good, and I know the latest rear view camera is great. You’ve just got to learn where that front bumper is when “nose in” parking.

Remember "80%" is not a limit. Whenever you take a trip and need full range, you can charge to 100% - just don't do it unless you absolutely need the extra. So the LR can take you quite a bit farther - on trips, again...

I have Toyota Camry with 65k miles on it. The car is paid off. I never had an EV before and I cannot have a charger at home for I live in apartment. Is it worth to upgrade from Camry to refresh model 3?

    • @kmf2153

It depends on how close a tesla super charger is to your apt. If it is not close by, or very near your daily commute , keeping it charged up will be a pain in the ass. Also it is quite a bit more expensive to charge on a super charger than it would be if you had a plug in available at your residence. So the paid off toyota would be my pick in your situation. It is just a transportation device after all…….YMMV.

    • @tigerkenshi
      @tigerkenshi 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@kmf2153 Thank you for your honest reply. I have a super charger about 5-10 minutes away from home and work. I was planning to charge it during off peak hours at night after work or workout. But I understand this is still going to be inconvenient option and not cost saving at all. Most people tell me keep my current car for as long as possible since it doesn’t cost me much and the car is known for its reliability. I just like the look of new Tesla and will have to get a new car soon or later so I thought I might want to change it while my car still holds some value.

@@tigerkenshi Yea, I get it. I would love to have a Tesla model Y. But I don’t really need one, my old Honda CRV has a better use case for my needs and it is paid for also. So wants VS needs. I am going to opt to keep my Honda until the wheels fall off. $50,000 dollars is a lot of money for something you don’t really need at this time. On the other hand, when my wife’s Suby blew up, I purchased a Chevy Bolt for her and it has turned out to be an excellent commuter. Not a Tesla for sure, but she is not a computer geek and the Chevy works great for her.

Wait! You said it doesn’t qualify for the $7,500. So, must be you finance it through the bank then? Because it wouldn’t qualify. The $7,500 does qualify on model 3 only if you going to lease it. Only reason I said that cause that’s what I’m going to do and depending on the model in NY tax credit range from $500,$1,000,$2,000.

In Denmark a model 3 or Y is cheaper than a Toyota Corolla due to tax on non electric cars. So there has newer been incentives for electric cars as none are needed.
