I was lucky enough to have a grandstand seat on the start/finish line on the straight, I have never heard an engine scream like the Jag's unbelievable, and the Jag's were running engines developed from their road going cars incredible. The contrast between the low rumble of the Mercs and the screaming cats. Best race I've ever been to, unfortunately those halcyon days are now gone, so lucky to have watched these magnificent beasts.
This video benefits from being BBC1 Grandstand coverage - this race came a few weeks after Jags won at Le Mans, the Beeb got so much grief for NOT covering that race, they went overboard to cover this one, and got a great race too. We were at both races, epic days when Group C was and still is the very best, most entertaining, most competitive, motorsport, FAR better than boring F1 both then and now.
Ahh this is such a good time capsule..so much better edited than today's wec highlights; brilliant commentator & ad hoc pitlane interviewers. Well enjoyed that.
Great stuff. One of the great eras of sports-prototype racing. And Brands, one of the all time great circuits. Thanks for this upload!!!

I was there and right by that accident. Remember it like it was yesterday.

A golden era of motorsport right there. V12s... V8s.. And Flat 6s..never to be repeated sadly.
I was there that day just about saw the prang with the mercedes standing on south bank

Jochen is not happy. Very not happy. Looks like Steve Hynes spun. Simple as that. Brands is a tight track
