An Asian urologist, who's name I forgot, found out that COCONUT WATER also helps to dissolve small kidney stones. I applied this when my family doctor wanted to send me to an urologist: I drank one glass of sugar free coconut water a day on an empty stomach for two weeks and then had another check-up: no more signs of kidney stones!! This was years ago.
Now I keep on drinking coconut water and lemon water intermittently as a way to prevent new kidney stones. So far, so good.

@@SpamMouse Well, thank you so much for educating us further on this subject... I should have said 'with no added sugar' of course.
However this does not take away the wonderful effect coconut water can have on dissolving developing kidney stones. I think it's good to know about alternatives for lemon water, so people can have choices.

@@pambaughman1579 As mentioned in the above comment coconut water has it's own natural sugar, 3% apparently. Coconut water can be ordered online or bought at a 'whole food' shop I think it's called in your country (I'm from Europe). Be careful choosing the brand, there's a lot of rubbish on the market. Hope that helps.

    Takeaways:
    1. Crystalisation of oxilates leads to kidney stones.
    2. Pain during urine, pain in muscles, back maybe symptoms.
    3. Lack of microbes example Lactobacillus which help in break down oxilates and stop them from entering into blood.
    4. Diabeties, insulin resistance person's kidney or liver not function well and lead to this problem.
    5. If you eat calcium with these foods then calcium will combine with oxilates and prevent it entering into blood.
    6. Find a probiotic that reduce oxilates.
    7. Take Magnesium.
    8. Lemon ( citrates) juice also reduce the oxilates.
    9. Vitamin D - that helps in calcium absorption and helps to bind it with oxilates in gut.
    10. Drink water more.

So really, oxalates may not the be real problem to our health. The real problem may be that our diet lacks the necessary "tools" to clean out the oxalates from our systems. And, this also explains why some people whose diet is not deficient, do not have problem with oxalates. However, I also understand some may be sensitive to oxalate containing foods in general.

      "What is shock wave lithotripsy?
Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL) is the most common treatment for kidney stones in the U.S. Shock waves from outside the body are targeted at a kidney stone causing the stone to fragment. The stones are broken into tiny pieces. lt is sometimes called ESWL: Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy®.
These are what the words mean:
      extracorporeal: from outside the body
      shock waves: pressure waves
lithotripsy (the Greek roots of this word are "litho" meaning stone, "tripsy" meaning crushed)
So, SWL describes a nonsurgical technique for treating stones in the kidney or ureter (the tube going from the kidney to the bladder) using high-energy shock waves. Stones are broken into "stone dust" or fragments that are small enough to pass in urine. lf large pieces remain, another treatment can be performed
      When can SWL be used?
SWL works better with some stones than others. Very large stones cannot be treated this way. The size and shape of stone, where it is lodged in your urinary tract, your health, and your kidneys' health will be part of the decision to use it. Stones that are smaller than 2 cm in diameter are the best size for SWL. The treatment might not be effective in very large ones."

I have been prescribed potassium citrate for years after a number of emergency room visits when I was younger because of renal stones and, as Dr. Berg suggests, they were calcium oxalate. I have not had an issue in years. An interesting tip I learned is about Magnesium Glycinate. I started taking that, along with Vitamin D (to help absorption) because of a history of headaches. The Mg has done wonders to reduce my headaches and now I see there is an added benefit for stones. Supposedly the Mg glycinate is easier on the gut than other types of Mg for those with a sensitive gut. I always learn something here!

After my urologist told me I am a kidney stone machine, I started drinking 6 oz. of lemon juice in 32 oz. water every day (vs. the recommended 4 oz., plus an expensive non-nutritive sweetener), plus taking steps to (hopefully) keep it from eating away my tooth enamel. After months of that, I researched and found that 1.44 grams of citric acid powder has equivalent citrate of one ounce of lemon juice. Not all people are sensible to oxalates and how the food is processed is important as well. The problem with "trends" in food is that people want one "miracle" food and one enemy food :) as well. Lots of people have smoothies and they trow in them fresh spinach (highest oxalate content) while cooked spinach have much less oxalates that combined with the parmesan cheese, makes it good and a healthful combo, besides way more delicious than a smoothie.
Italians also remove skin and seeds from tomatoes and Nonas have being doing this for centuries, doing so they remove lectins, which can be a problem for human health in high doses.
Eating the Italian way has not comparison with the processed and ultra processed food, I would not change it.

Great informative video Dr. Berg. Thank you for that. I do have one tip; as I react badly to oxalates, I know when there are no oxalates, or atleast avery low amount, in it. So beets contains a lot of oxalates, BUT freeze dried beets don't! I tolerate this well and freeze dried beets contains no or less oxalates. Thanks again for this great video!

Dear Dr. Berg! Could you please analyse the topic considering the copper intoxication. I read that the water stored in copper dish is cleaner and better for organism. I bought a copper flask and started drinking water during the day stored in that flask. After 3 months I noticed a regular little tremor of my hands which I never had before. I thought that overtrain could be the reason, but then I googled and found out that copper intoxication can lead to Wilson's disease. Tremor is the main symptom of this disease. I am interested in your opinion considering copper in human body. Thank you for the knowledge that share with us!

Haven't always drank enough water but for 1 1/2 year of Dr Berg style HKIF, added ACV, lemon water, and hoping that having a healthier gut is going to solve the issue. I can tell you that it is smart to visit a urologists at least 1 or 2 times a year and have an on call nurses number for when the hot cast iron cattle prod jams in your kidney, you scream and drop to the floor. I will say the before HKIF I had cronic acid reflux and now I take no medicine for my stomach now. Eating well has changed my life.
