An Asian urologist, who's name I forgot, found out that COCONUT WATER also helps to dissolve small kidney stones. I applied this when my family doctor wanted to send me to an urologist: I drank one glass of sugar free coconut water a day on an empty stomach for two weeks and then had another check-up: no more signs of kidney stones!! This was years ago. Now I keep on drinking coconut water and lemon water intermittently as a way to prevent new kidney stones. So far, so good.

Takeaways: 1. Crystalisation of oxilates leads to kidney stones. 2. Pain during urine, pain in muscles, back maybe symptoms. 3. Lack of microbes example Lactobacillus which help in break down oxilates and stop them from entering into blood. 4. If you eat calcium with these foods then calcium will combine with oxilates and prevent it entering into blood. 6. Find a probiotic that reduce oxilates. 7. Take Magnesium. 8. Lemon ( citrates) juice also reduce the oxilates. 9. Vitamin D - that helps in calcium absorption and helps to bind it with oxilates in gut. 10. Drink water more.
So really, oxalates may not the be real problem to our health. The real problem may be that our diet lacks the necessary "tools" to clean out the oxalates from our systems. And, this also explains why some people whose diet is not deficient, do not have problem with oxalates. However, I also understand some may be sensitive to oxalate containing foods in general.

I have been prescribed potassium citrate for years after a number of emergency room visits when I was younger because of renal stones and, as Dr. Berg suggests, they were calcium oxalate. I have not had an issue in years. An interesting tip I learned is about Magnesium Glycinate. I started taking that, along with Vitamin D (to help absorption) because of a history of headaches. Thank you for clarifying that food high in oxalates will not contribute to oxalate in the body. I'm from an Italian family, and I eat lots of spinach. Of course, it is the main component of my ravioli filling, but my filling has lots of Parmigiano cheese. We have to eat like our ancestors! Home-made food, when done in balance, doesn't make you sick.
I disagree with berg here. I unknowingly was consuming a diet high in oxalates and protein and I had an acute gout flairup and kidney pain. After cutting oxalates and increasing citrates the gout went away. Oxalates absolutely can exacerbate kidney dysfunction.
Not all people are sensible to oxalates and how the food is processed is important as well. The problem with "trends" in food is that people want one "miracle" food and one enemy food :) as well. Lots of people have smoothies and they trow in them fresh spinach (highest oxalate content) while cooked spinach have much less oxalates that combined with the parmesan cheese, makes it good and a healthful combo, besides way more delicious than a smoothie. Italians also remove skin and seeds from tomatoes and Nonas have being doing this for centuries, doing so they remove lectins, which can be a problem for human health in high doses. Eating the Italian way has not comparison with the processed and ultra processed food, I would not change it.
Thanks for this info. When I worked in the lab, I saw the Oxalate crystals in my urine. They were affecting my right leg. I found a web page on vulvadynia that listed the high Oxalate foods and started to reduce those. I also started taking calcium-magnesium citrate and that worked! But one other thing it said is that a mild infection makes immune cells that cause the crystals to clump together to form the stones. So adding a cranberry pill helps them flush from the kidney too. Also avoid calcium carbonate. It’s added to foods

I got kidney stones 9 years ago. I take Magnesium Citrate every night. It keeps me regular, plus helps me sleep.
we appreciate the summary of the video that was placed in the accompanying text
Thanks. Glad you like it.
I’m glad you’re finally acknowledging and addressing this topic! 👏
Thanks. Glad to share the info I have about this topic.
THANK YOU! Just diagnosed myself with Vulvodynia and was wondering how to treat NATURALLY.
@@chinookvalley fyi, vulvadynia is a general term that means pain in the vulva. There really many causes. Be sure to have the other reasons tested.
I never heard of this before. 😳
Thanks for this important topic. Sally K. Norton is an expert resource for anyone needing more Oxalate info.
No problem. Glad to share this info.
I agree. Reducing oxalates in my diet has helped my health.
I have no problem finding your content. When I watch one of your videos, TH-cam recommends and shows to me even more of your videos. I live in Eastern Europe and this probably matters because there are restrictions on some of the Internet content in countries like Canada and America. In Europe we can watch things that people in America can't watch.
I haven’t had any kidney stones thankfully. I do drink lemon water a few times a week and take probiotics. Also love my kimchi. Thanks dr berg.

I have the sick feeling that TH-cam is going to end up ruining a great thing. It irks me that Dr. Berg has to be careful about his words, and God knows I can't get reliable information from my medical doctor. She has never once even asked me about my diet. TH-cam has been a rich resource of information for me and so many others, but they're going to mess around and ruin it. 🤬 I hope I'm wrong, but... 🤷♀
Elon should buy TH-cam call it xtube

Great informative video Dr. Berg. Thank you for that. I do have one tip; as I react badly to oxalates, I know when there are no oxalates, or atleast avery low amount, in it. So beets contains a lot of oxalates, BUT freeze dried beets don't! I tolerate this well and freeze dried beets contains no or less oxalates. Thanks again for this great video!
Love you so much Dr ❤ I'm sending this to my sister, she's suffering from this kidney stone problem
Very informative and helpful. Thank you Dr. Berg.
You're very welcome.
Dear Dr. Berg! Could you please analyse the topic considering the copper intoxication. I read that the water stored in copper dish is cleaner and better for organism. I bought a copper flask and started drinking water during the day stored in that flask. After 3 months I noticed a regular little tremor of my hands which I never had before. I thought that overtrain could be the reason, but then I googled and found out that copper intoxication can lead to Wilson's disease. Tremor is the main symptom of this disease. I am interested in your opinion considering copper in human body. Thank you for the knowledge that share with us!
Yes please do a video on copper.
See Dr Berg’s videos on how zinc balances copper down.

You're wonderful doctor 😊

Thank you for sharing this helpful info. This will help me manage my kidney stones issues. Yogurt, lemon, vitamin D, and magnesium are absolutely the best treatment.
I wish if TH-cam gives health specialist some kind of badges or verified channels.
Thank you,
Thank you Dr. Eric sir the way you explain everything in detail is really good thank you for valuable for information

It really irks me when I see outdoor survival channels calling chaga a "panacea" and some talking about drinking chaga tea "everyday". Chaga is *_insanely_* high in oxalates and not many legitimate studies have been done on it.
I have had 6 oxilate stones in the past 4 years. Dr put me on potassium citrate, and a few months ago was diagnosed and hospitalized for an erosion close to my esophagus. Now I can’t take any citrus, citrates, or any anti inflammatory 7:06 meds! On a non oxalate diet, and no coffee, chocolate, nuts, tomatoes.
Was the erosion caused by the potassium citrate?
Blessings and appreciation from Sydney Australia .
Great information , keep up the good work Dr. Berg , it makes a positive difference for so many of us ! ❤️

After 2-3 years on healthy keto I end up with kidney stone‼ Almond flour is full of oxalates. Now I'm goin6back to low carb life + IF 16 to18h.
Thank you
In my opinion, kidney stones are way more painful than giving birth! I ended up in the emergency room last week. After a CT scan, positive for kidney stone. I consider myself a health "nut" and wondered how in the heck this happened. GREAT video! I will be adjusting my foods a bit and lots more water!! Oh, I haven't passed the stone. Now in the hunt for a video for what to do, eat, drink that will move this sucker faster. Dr Berg, if I don't find any content on your youtube channel, I'll be checking on "the other side".😉
Good information dr Berg oxalates can cause a arthritis like condition
Had them twice, 15 years apart. Doctor said there is a majic number when they show their nasty head. I love foods with oxalates. Haven't always drank enough water but for 1 1/2 year of Dr Berg style HKIF, added ACV, lemon water, and hoping that having a healthier gut is going to solve the issue. I can tell you that it is smart to visit a urologists at least 1 or 2 times a year and have an on call nurses number for when the hot cast iron cattle prod jams in your kidney, you scream and drop to the floor. I will say the before HKIF I had cronic acid reflux and now I take no medicine for my stomach now. Eating well has changed my life.
What do you want to visit a crummie medical being for! when all you need is an internet connection to see the error of your past ignorance! Just get educated - your going in the right direction.

I will try for myself because I had a history of kidney stones💐🌹

Question: if you want magnesium and citrates why would you take magnesium glycinate instead of magnesium citrate?
I thought the same thing… maybe glycinate is absorbed more easily?
Magnesium citrate really messed up my stomach and entire intestinal system. Asa result I only take Magnesium malate (easy on the system) and L- threonate or Magtein
Diarrhea, glycinate doesn't cause it like citrate does. I went to transdermal magnesium.
A Kiwi has barely any (16 mg/1 kiwi) vs 1/2 cup of Spinach is 755 mg. Those should not be listed on the same list.

I had 2 times stone in my left kidney , and the doctor told me these are calcium stones ,because they break off easyly with medicine, so I drink lots of water , along with Urodonal (small rice like sparking lemon flovour) in water twice and few medicine , and after 2, to 3 weeks the stones just vanished in ultra sound
Did you have pain from the stones? Also, what medicine did he prescribe to you?

@Dr.Eric Berg DC I have a question about Kidney stones and an mix of Cooked Carrots and Raisins drink that supposedly softens the Kidney Stones .
A video with good reviews promises that it will make you flush out stones and that it's a solution to NOT do operation if you have large kidney stones.
Is this true? Professionals say there is no elixir but the video says it works.
I'm unsure.
I've been dealing with nearly constant kidney stones and am so sick of it. This has been going on for 2 years now. I've had surgeries to remove them, i drink over a gallon of water daily, and am otherwise fit an healthy. I've seen urologists and they've been of no help. Which is why I'm doing my own research now. I'll be looking through your content sir. Thank you and ceoss your fingers for me. I have stones right at this moment even. I never thought they could even build this quickly.😢
