Sir, this week I watched you cut hay and wash a truck. Want the honest truth - I loved every minute of each. Thank you for all you do, it's some of the best therapy out there for this crazy world. Take care, hug your family, heal your wounds. ~ Chuck
My dad had a 1971 Dodge pickup. You reminded me of a funny story. My daughter's cat had a litter of kittens. They were playing in the cab. One of them crawled into the drain at the back of the seat. The poor little thing's tail was the only thing sticking out. We pulled on it's tail but it only popped like when you pull your finger. So I poured vegetable oil down the hole so it would be slippery and the kitten would slide right on out. Didn't work! We were desparate and drove to the local volunteer fire department where they were holding a turkey shoot. A nice young man tried to help us. We pulled the truck into the bay and he crawled up under the door. There is a flange that's spot welded under there. So he got a tool that could fit between the pieces of metal to pry it apart. When he got it spread, the little kitten flew out like a shot cat and went into the meeting room/kitchen. It looked like a punk rock, spiky-haired kitten from the vegetable oil. It took nearly 30 minutes to catch the little creature but we prevailed and took him home. I gave the guy a $10 tip for his help. That was a lot considering this was in the 1980's. What a wonderful memory. That is what watching your videos reminds me of. Thanks Derek.
My dad last truck was a 1988 Dodge power ram and we still drive it today play it's got 450,000 mils on the 318 on steel runs like a top has not been worked on not a whole lot just regular maintenance
A lot of people always poo poo the six bangers. Not everyone is into the small or big blocks and all the horsepower in the world. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with a 6. They're good engines. I've had several and still do.
I’ve got a 63 dart and though the slant six had major overheating issues it never let me down. Had a few hiccups on account of not being able to find a parts store that stocked the proper carb kit and sometimes the 60 year old wiring just decided to take naps, but they’re great little engines. Everybody asks me if I’m putting a small block in it when it goes back together but having daily driven that slant with better fuel economy than any fuel injected car I’ve owned, I just can’t bring myself to do away with it. Once drive it six hours at 300+ degrees and it never once even hiccuped. I stopped using coolant in it on account of the constant overheating issues, and it froze on me one frosty October day. Got so hot that I pulled into work with rods knocking and some terrible banging and clanging. Let it cool down, and it started right up and drove onto the trailer the next day. A few weeks later it ran just as good to drive off the trailer. Can’t imagine getting rid of such a tough platform for anything else. As it turned out rust had clogged the coolant journals going into the head, despite my attempts at getting rid of the rust. Long live the I6

@@coyboybc cheap on gas isn't what I think lol. But it's like 25 miles to work for me. The truck was cheap tho because it was running rough when I bought it... Stupid air idle control thingy was froze up.
I had 5 slant 6 vehicles, mostly in my first 2 decades of driving. They are literally indestructible. Driving my 64 Dodge Dart through the Mojave Desert once and this loud horn sound emanated from the engine compartment. Popped the hood and steam was coming out of the overflow so strong that it was shooting out several feet. Naturally it was well over 100 degrees out and I had to just sit and wait with no shade. There was a canal visible in the desert that looked close but probably wasn’t. While contemplating a death defying walk a VW bus pulled up full of hippie types, who were more than happy to supply me with water and an escort to the nearest town. After changing out the bad water pump and filling up I was back on my way to Phoenix none the worse for the experience and the Dart running like nothing had happened. I eventually got sick of Phoenix and drove the Dart back to my parents house in RI, still running perfectly.

I love that truck! My first vehicle was a 78 white dodge my grandmother found at a garage sale. That truck is beautiful. Makes me miss mine that much more even after 35 years.
What a sweetheart. Most of us are workin men and women raising families in this day and age. Thankyou for keeping mindful of the budget challenges we face.

Memories of my first truck...a 1978 Dodge with 360 engine...usually ran but had rusting isdues, electric fire under dash, ceramic piston brakes locked up on front left side going 55 and was hopping down road out of control, etc. And later new wife didn't like it after had brakes worked on and firm didn't remove paperwork from new reservoir and paperwork caught fire in brake line going down road embarrassing her..decided to let friend at work love it for a while....:-)
Would love to see more about vacuum lines. It would be interesting to hear more about them - which ones can just be sealed off, which ones need to stay put, etc...
Revivals are fun but this is also a revival of sorts and i did enjoy it. I think as long as its an old car/truck getting brought back around is what counts. I really dig this rig. Also you should of put up a warning on this video Derek! The amount of spray can usage was darn right criminal and also impressive!
1:23:05 That truck would sound great with a 318 CID in it, and Cherry Bomb exhaust. It would have that hot rod loping sound. And when you get down on it and open it up, it will sound really good.
***This is awesome because I have a 1985 D150 light blue short bed that needs a paint job with 26K original miles with a tower of power under the hood, rust free and like new inside! I'm so glad to see you do this one I love these old Dodge trucks!***
Having detailing vehicles professionally for over 30 years I'm with you Derek, I like a clean tire without any dressing. Tires aren't supposed to shine IMO. You can use the steel wool with a little paste wax to really make that chrome bumper shine. The truck really cleaned up nice and it's amazing how much a nice set of wheels does for a vehicle.
I’m so glad you went with the shine juice, I’m always impressed with how that stuff gets a rig’s look to come back around. Always an entertaining and educational show, Derek; thanks for all you do
A lot of people would pass up a truck like this. Nothing special about it, looked long forgotten. Its' great to see how much you were able to clean it up. Goes to show some nice rides might be a bit more realistic than a lot of people think!
I absolutely love that truck I've enjoyed watching how 500 bucks completely made a make over if u will on that truck. My brother whom is no longer with us had a truck identical to this one and how I wish I would have bought it from him. You can not find a d100 like this anymore and I ain't kidding ya. Me and my wife have a ministry of feeding the homeless and if my brother had sold me his truck all them years ago I'd be using it to haul my equipment to this day. Thank you Derrick for all you and your family does I love watching along with you on your builds. We are watching along with you from good ole harlan co ky. God bless.

Derek is the best part of my Friday, busting ass at the tire shop all day, and come home and he reminds me to wrench every day on my stuff, because if you don’t do it no one will.
My dad had a Dodge just like that when I was about 5. He passed away when I was 6 and it cemented the memory of that truck in my head. I would love to find one out in the wild and get it together with my kiddos the way you do. Great vid Derek!
Already left a like before watching.. Can't go wrong with VGG video also was just wondering maybe put some solar up on the roof so you can get some electricity just a thought.
Thank you for saving this old girl from the crusher!!! My grandfather who served 5 years in the Air Force had one of these trucks new but he sold it just a few months after for a fully loaded 1987 GMC K20 with the 454 because they got a small camper to travel around Michigan where we live and that little dodge could barely move it even with 3:73 gears. I think the tire shine depends on the car in my opinion. Some cars look good with it very glossy and some look better when the tire is matte. I personally like the middle. Not too glossy and not too matte, like a tire that has been well cared for.
I enjoy these videos more than revivals. The revivals are cool and fun to watch but these are the videos that teach me how to do things. I also enjoy seeing how far back you can bring some of these old rigs with little money and some work.
Good job. Two things are itching my OCD, though. 1) You gotta get a 2x4 block and a hammer and knock down the bend in that front bumper. 2) Speaking of knocking, the truck has one black eye. Maybe knock it around a little more 'til it's got a matching set?
As soon as you started talking about the poor condition of the paint on this truck I thought, "He's gonna break out the shine juice." Shows just how much I watch your videos!
On the tire shine.. I'm a car enthusiast, dealer mechanic and I do "paint corrections" on the side.. you can see on my channel I do em real deep like 🤣 but anyway, i absolutely CAN NOT stand when people over dress the tires. Like they need a tire dunk tank (for finding leaks, never works) full of Vaseline.. I swear that's what some people do. What I like is exactly what you just did Derek, a quick spray and most importantly wipe em dry! I've been using permashine alot recently.. it dries DRY almost like a clear coat. Not gunky feeling or wet looking. Just dark and clean
We had that same truck in red. Brought back so many memories. It was a great truck and it’s amazing to see one driving down the road so many decades later. Thanks for the trip!

My high school rig was a Dodge Ram D100 Sport with the slant six and 4 speed manual.. it was Red. I loved that thing, it was dependable too, never left me stranded. I ran that thing hard for 5 years.
You’re absolutely right Derek. The right wheels and tires truly make a vehicle!!
100%
A chickenfried steak, big glass of tea, a bunch of french fries, and a ViceGripGarage video. Can't get much better than this...... Now I have to dig out my old Aerosmith records

Yep...the coal industry isn't what it used to be. Fewer miners around.
Toys in the attic was my first album 45 years ago
Hell yeah dude, Toys in the Attic, Rocks and Get Your Wings 👌👌
Having a new Stay Tuned video and then a VGG video just drop right afterwards is a nice way to end the day.
I also love The Bearded Mechanic (Craig, ex-Bikes & Beards), and Low Buck Garage, which fixes crusty old machines CHEAPLY (but goodly!).
You should add Dirthead Dave to round it off!
@@gizmofish57 yeah your right
You just saved me several hundred dollars!!! I tried using an overhead water source like you did to feed my power washer in the remote barn and it worked. Now can postpone renting a backhoe and running a water line. Thanks!!
Nothing better than a VGG video to enjoy on a Friday night!!! Thank you Derek!!!
VGG did their magic on this Dodge pickup and made it a "going to town rig"! What an amazing job doing this Budget Build! Good video Derel!
Hardest working man on TH-cam here fellas.

The James brown of automotive youtubers......lol
Also the funniest, and the best family man to boot. 😇

The Roseanne comment has me rolling.😂😂 I have been watching you for almost 7 years now and have never seen 1 episode without giggling. Love this dude. I have never wanted to meet someone so bad and have a cold beverage with someone. My biggest celeb right here.
I honestly dont care for old cars but I have religiously watched every single revival video from Derek. This guy is funny. I truly enjoy his videos
How do you not care for old cars? Just askin'.
Any old car is better than some of the new crap that's coming out.
@@larrynason8716 like I would not buy one. But i like looking at them
There are millions of us derek that do this every weekend 😊😊😊....thank you for doing videos about it !!!
For the inside of the glasses, get some distilled water in a spray bottle and some 4-ought steel wool, and treat it like you're wet-sanding. Presto: clean glass.
My 90’s go to’s were 5 stars. Still love them to this day.
This truck reminds me of my Dad and my best friends Dad, they both had one. Jims even had the mismatched headlight bezels, and he was from PA. They are both no longer with us, this truck brings back great memories. Thank You for saving it.
most professional detailers will leave the tires and interior matte, as that is the way it came from the factory. any glossy treatment is billed extra.
Love these episodes, Derek. You're so good in front of a camera and just B.S.'n with us it's truly unique and very welcoming. Thanks, Bieri Family.
24:29 My mom, who worked as a scientist on soaps and detergent products always said 'soap is soap'. You're right on the money there sir
It is so satisfying wiping down a old vehicle with the shine juice watching it come to life.
Derek, You’re one cool dude to watch get these vehicles going. I enjoy watching your videos regularly.
Glad you like them!
Wesley's bleech - white, Best tire cleaner there is! Just a good clean natural finish!
I'm addicted to yalls channel!! ❤ Thanks for the great enthusiasm and entertainment!!
Lets be honest after a long day of working hard then feeding 6 kids. There is nothing that id rather watch then your videos! Please keep them coming . Thank you for making my day.
Derek and family I've been watching your show for years absolutely love it never miss a video whatsoever you're extremely knowledgeable funny yet very humble it's a great show and good family entertainment please keep up the good work thank you and best to you and your family
The best thing about your channel Deric is no politics. Thanks
Almost to 2 Million!!! 🥳🎉

A guy has a 40x120’ garage and changes his tires in gravel… love that guy.
Was not expecting Aero-grip Garage to make a performance in this episode, but im glad for it
I’m so glad you went with the shine juice, I’m always impressed with how that stuff gets a rig’s look to come back around. Always an entertaining and educational show, Derek; thanks for all you do
A lot of people would pass up a truck like this. Nothing special about it, looked long forgotten. Its' great to see how much you were able to clean it up. Goes to show some nice rides might be a bit more realistic than a lot of people think!
That ol' girl is a gem. I spotted that on the first vidya when he raised the hood and revealed that slant 6.
God bless.
Just watched little grip now it’s time for the fella
she cleaned up nice.
Just wanted to say thank you for providing hours of entertainment and learning. My son loves watching your videos with me every weekend. Stay safe and God bless Derrick.
Wow, thank you!
I lost it when you said that the grill was made by "tang yang" Once again you have managed to make me laugh way too hard at something my wife wouldn't crack a smile at. You the man Derek!

YESSSSS, Time for VGG Friday!!!!
Derek is the best part of my Friday, busting ass at the tire shop all day, and come home and he reminds me to wrench every day on my stuff, because if you don’t do it no one will.
What project are you wrenching on? I'm working painting my 68 Wagoneer.
My dad had a Dodge just like that when I was about 5. He passed away when I was 6 and it cemented the memory of that truck in my head. I would love to find one out in the wild and get it together with my kiddos the way you do. Great vid Derek!
My O.C.D. was screaming through this whole episode. "THE HEADLIGHT BEZELS DON'T MATCH!!!!
It adds character.
Dammit! Now I can't unsee that.
Me too!
Take a valium, have a glass of milk, make a sandwich. 😂
@@JeffKopis I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but it messes with my C.D.O. bad
Already left a like before watching.. Can't go wrong with VGG video also was just wondering maybe put some solar up on the roof so you can get some electricity just a thought.
another friday at work, and vgg comes through once again, thanks to the vgg family for all the sacrifices for our enjoyment
Hey Derrik, If you have enough of that silver paint left you need to spray the headlight bezels so that they match!
Yeah it looks like a black eye
Sitting on the front porch getting pelted in the teeth by vertical rain watching vgg. Can a guys Friday get any better than this?... NOPE!
Yes cold beer to wet the neck
I could use some rain here in eastern nc it's hot and dry feels like Arizona😂😂
It’s been raining out there in your neck of the woods I see. That greenery is greenering
Vice Grip and Little Grip in the same day! We are gonna get spoiled!
For the vinyl try using a Magic eraser. A guy did that with his wife's car and was able to get a LOT of dirt out of vinyl.
AWESOME!
Start of the weekend - right here 😂
Another hit from the truck whisperer. 👍
Absolutely CAN NOT BEAT the NEW TIRE LOOK.
Ready for a revival of a revival.
Fun Fact: My '88 D-150 uses the same size tire as my '79 Scout II. The Scout has those Turbine wheels you had on your diesel Scout.
We had that same truck in red. Brought back so many memories. It was a great truck and it’s amazing to see one driving down the road so many decades later. Thanks for the trip!
