On top of all of the knowledge you give me, your videos are the only thing that can help get me to sleep at night.
I found this channel after my dad sent me a few of your videos while I was deployed. It didn’t take long before they were my sole source of entertainment while I was gone and continue to be a ritual at home.
After the ole’ beater truck gets some love, I’d love to get my late grandpa’s 77 Trans Am running and driving again with my dad as soon as I can find the time and money to do so. After over a decade of sitting in an Alabama driveway, it deserves some love.
Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment. This is by far the best car channel on the internet.

I scored an 1984 d250 my buddy found sitting out in a pasture by him in north texas 10 years ago. It had set for 6 years they said. I needed a truck and my buddy knew those old dodges were my bread and butter. So he didnt even ask me, he just bought it and brought it to me, asked that i give him his 450$ back he paid. A lil cleaning, and another 400$ worth of parts and i have the truck im still driving today 10 years later. I love those old dodges. Mine had 82,000 on the odometer and i believe it had not rolled over as the smog pumps, and emmission hoses were still present and functioning. It now has 121,000 miles on it and has taken me back and forth faithfully many times for crewchange between nacogdoches texas, houston texas, new orleans, and baton rouge. Only let me down once when the factory 1984 alternator give up in baton rouge. Still got me home with an800watt generator running an old school battery charger.

1987 Dodge short bed 2wd, automatic, 225 with aluminum camper shell, full size matress, 7 kids in the back. All over the eastern half of the US and parts of Canada on summer vacations in the late 80s-90s. Dad even built a bolt-to-frame wooden box/luggage carrier to put on the back. The mountains of TN were not kind to the transmission, but somehow we always managed to make it home. Lots of memories. Thanks for the great video, as always!

I bought a 1985 D100 with a slant 6 and 4 sp manual shortly after I got out of the Army. It wasn't winning any races, but it always started and did what I needed it to do.Nobody ever asked to borrow it,once they found out it had a third pedal. It finally succumbed to the salt that NYS puts on the roads in the winter.
Great video, Derek. Do just enough to make it roadworthy.
Tires, lights, and someone will take a chance on it.

I had one of these (1987 ... D150, slant 6, 1 bbl, A-833 OD transmission, 'north of the border'. He is right, it had 'legs' - very tall gearing, came with 195/75/R15 (car tires?). It never died .. but had a few known ... 'items'. 1. Rear main seal leak, helped keep the underbody from rusting. 2. Slop in the trans linkage (external, could go under when locked and 'flip it'. 3. Carburetor icing in damp cold weather. 4. Made lots of carbon during -40C startups. 5. Pulling the vacuum lines actually helped - gave a little diesel grunt under light throttle, but much more power, and better milage (probably just bad spark advance/smog gear). It would always start .. never overheated. At -40C on the highway, mileage was awful. Starter was changed to a Nippon style - no sick dolphin noise, had enough power to pull start in 1st gear. Body 'weight reduction occured' long before motor would give. It truly was a Dodge ... both 'Do Or Die Gutless Engine' and also 'Drips or Drops Grease Everywhere'.

    all the family can
watch, and enjoy without having to worry about the bad language, and other stuff popping up,
Derek is very knowledgeable, him and his wife, are great role models for their boys, spending time with them, sharing their knowledge, and teaching them, being an example to them that will always be with them, and not only to their children, but influencing, and encouraging others who watches their channel, sharing it with everyone, I believe Derek is the real deal!
