The kick panel waste container was a part of certain interior option packages on Chevrolet Caprice, Buick Le Sabre, Oldsmobile Delta 88, and Pontiac Pariesienne cars of the late 1970s through the 1980s. It was also available most years as a separate option for most model years on those cars -- quite often the waste container was covered with carpet that matched the carpets on the floor. Back in the day, the class III/IV receiver hitch was often included on full-size GM cars that were optioned to tow travel trailers. I had one on my 1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham Luxury Sedan for towing my 1978 Argosy Minuet 6.0 Metre travel trailer. In the high end GM cars the 70’s and 80’s in was a feature in the cars to have waste basket! The base engine was a 305 - 5.0 or a 350- 5.7 if order , but I think it was 1 of the best designs of ‘79 Chevy Caprice Classic!
The 350 was a rarity in these cars of 1979 unless a person ordered the trailer package. It was likely a 305 if not the smaller 267 CI V-8. I had a 1978 police Biscayne with the 5.7 (350 CI) Z28 engine and in 1978 that was nothing special.

In 1980 I bought a new Chevy Monza. The door panels were made of that crumbly plastic fantastic material, with exception of the tops of the armrests. After only 2 years, all that plastic began to fade and decompose, as did the rest of the vehicle. This Caprice has held up better.
Engine is 305 2bbl, VIN Code “G” that is a Rochester Dual Jet Carburetor, first year used on the Full Size Chevy, 1978 previous used the 2Jet if a 2bbl. Wish that car was a 77-79 2Door. The Garage container was an Opt in 1979.

I washed and waxed it frequently.....I used to get compliments about how shiny it was .....I traded it in early 1990 with 89,000 miles on it and in retrospect, I should have kept it longer.
It came with the trash cans or it came with the hooks as you pointed out where it connected so you could buy one. So if it came with a trash can they would break from use and you could buy replacements in your automotive/department store automotive section/hardware store automotive section. If you did not have a console shifter and it was a column mounted shifter, which most were if not all, they had a matching tray that you could buy with the trash can and it went over the drive shaft tunnel......So it had a tray for wallet/sunglasses/change and then two cup holders. Too bad there were no hub caps of any kind. The rally wheels that are on it would really set it off w/ center caps and beauty rings. PS…don’t give up on the vette!!!!!
You referenced David Spade's character Richie in the film 'The Benchwarmers'. Great flick! Also, I really appreciate you guys showing love for the old GM full-size street queens. I always enjoyed those I owned. Keep it up!
I had nearly this exact same car in the mid 80's. I loved it. Smooth, comfortable, reliable... no race car but I had my series 3 E-Type for that. Sadly my Caprice got totaled in a freak ice storm on I-75 in a 9 car pile-up. Rough day. BTW the passenger kick panel waste container was a factory option available on most full size GMs at the time. I believe they were standard on the Cadillacs.
Chevrolet from 1977 305 engine was used most 1977-1990 rare find 307 engine or 350 engine if lucky. But they were great vehicles .Great video keep up good work thanks my first time watching your video.
The full size Chevy Caprice and Impala came standard with a 250 inline six cylinder engine with 1 barrel carb (4.1 liter). Optional was a 305 2bbl. V8 (5.0 liter) and a 350 4bbl. V8 engine (5.7 liter). The emissions sticker under the hood will tell you. The litter container was a factory option that retailed for $8. The litter containers were always color-keyed to the interior of the car, so my guess is this is a junkyard replacement. This was a fairly well optioned Caprice given it had power windows, door locks, gauge package, rear window defroster, power antenna, and deluxe bumper group (bumper guards and rub strips). It no doubt had the lace sport wheel covers when new (very attractive!).
You guys do a really good job in detailing a car. I do have one question though. When you guys clean the tires and rims of a car, do you ever take the tires and rims off the subject car and clean the back side of the? I know no one really sees that but it is a nice bit of detailing to do so.
This car is beloved in the Middle East. We have beautiful memories in it. Treat it with respect. Thank you for sharing what you do

Looks like they had another Impala/Caprice in the barn as well. That is my youth......two of my buds had those in high school
lets just say they like grass and fields and the bumpers collect said grass real easy.
Dunkins would have been proud!!!!!!!!!
i live in memphis and the caprice is the very finest car i ever owned.no matter what year it was it was like floating on a cloud.my second favorite car was a 1963 dodge polara and third was 1957 chevy,my first car.
The owner sounds cool, and another great video… It’s rare to see malaise era American cars get some love, but I think people are starting to look at them more warmly now. My favorite American car detail you did was the hearse because I’m a weirdo.
Nah, nothing weird about that; I collect miniature hearses and ambulances and have reference books on them.
That’s awesome, they are such great and interesting pieces of custom coach building!
WHISHY WASHY TIME BABY
Too bad there were no hub caps of any kind. The rally wheels that are on it would really set it off w/ center caps and beauty rings. PS…don’t give up on the vette!!!!!
Summer is short here In Finland and im driving my White 77 caprice every sunny day from May To september. I really enjoyed this video.
The refrigerator good luck finding it R12 Batting cages sounds really good
You referenced David Spade's character Richie in the film 'The Benchwarmers'.
And Buicks and Olds.
You guys have all the fun.
My favorite was definitely the 55 Studebaker followed by the purple Corvette
This car is legend in Gulf country and iraq thanks for everything you do ❤.
Chevrolet from 1977 305 engine was used most 1977-1990 rare find 307 engine or 350 engine if lucky. But they were great vehicles .Great video keep up good work thanks my first time watching your video.
The cigarette thing is known as an ash tray.
If memory serves, the Caprice came standard with the 305 with 350 cid optional. The Impala standard engine was the 250 cid inline 6.
My Jeep was almost identical to this one. Same color. I used mine to carry my hang gliders. Great recreation vehicle.
you don't use starting fluid on a engine that hasn't run for years you need to use mixed gasoline from a can helps lubricate insides
That's a classic American 70s car. I love it
Nice job on the Caprice !
Too bad we didn't get to meet the 93 year old race car driver and pilot.
I bet she had some good stories.
We call that Roached(the arm rest plastic).
Thanks for the explanation of why you do the top last it was driving me crazy 😂😂
You guys do a really good job in detailing a car. I do have one question though. When you guys clean the tires and rims of a car, do you ever take the tires and rims off the subject car and clean the back side of the? I know no one really sees that but it is a nice bit of detailing to do so.
I see you picked up the slomo from your friend who brought you the Porsche 912.
Once again, you really enjoy what you are doing. Super nice
