I own the SA-251 and just love it, with the right preamp and eq its just awesome. But i will say the 47 sits more natural or per say musical here. wider and more muted in a good way. still the 251 is a classic beautiful mic. I had problems with the SA-87 being to dark for me. so i definitely would choose the 251 for me.
    cheers

SA-251 is a very sweet mic and it becomes hard to compare it to other good quality mics because of how sweet it sounds. Cheers!

Now this was hard one....when you were singing did you have a preference? Being in the headphones singing thru the mics is the best way to know so which of these sounded most transparent to you?? Also, Stam makes a 800g...if you've sung thru Stam 800g how does it stack up to you from 1 to 3??

Don’t have an answer for that. I get into my head too much if I monitor solely thru headphones. So I usually keep one ear-cup in my ear and the other off.
When I was recording the featured vocalists, Amber fell in love with the SA-800 and the SA-67.
Lastly, I don’t have a rating system for the mics since each one reacts differently to each song. Personally! SA-800 is a modern sounding mic, it’s full sounding but cuts thru any mix. Although most high level engineers do complain a bit about how bright it is. I personally don’t have that complaint but I am nowhere close to their level.
You realize I do have a few shootouts featuring the SA-800? If you’re thinking about it, Stam is selling a MK-2.

@@reddmusiclab did you have the 251 and the u47 at the time she sung thru the 800? if so, and she still chose the 800g? Wow, that says alot...I always let the singer pick whats best in their ears...Now i must have all 3....

Not all 3. The SA-251 was not present. She Loved! The SA-800 and mic handled her dynamics really well. If you have the means, go for it! If a mic or two doesn’t work out, you can always sell it at cost or just under cost price in the used market. Sometimes you can make a profit but that doesn’t happen too often.

Por el momento, Stam Audio no parece tener en almacén el SA-251. Cuando yo los compre, pague $1490 por el SA-47mk2 (Todavía sigue con el mismo precio) y $1390 por el SA-251.
