Underrated? Overrated? Well everyone is entitled to their opinion and for me this movie got all the praise it deserved. Truly outstanding, although as a big fan of her character in the cartoon/comic, I would have loved to see a little more Rogue.
I think the Sentinels must've been based both on Mystique (for their shape-shifting abilities) and Rogue (for her power absorbing/replicating abilities). In the deleted scenes, they have to rescue Rogue. Maybe she was being experimented on- extracting her DNA? Would've loved to have seen her in the fight against the Sentinels, absorbing their powers and allowing one of the other X-Men to finish off the Sentinel. We might've seen her fly then. Maybe seen her kick some arse.
Stacy H Quicksilver is the older twin I think...but maybe he GROWS at a faster rate. The girl is about the right age for the movie, given the timeframe (First Class - Kennedy era, DoFP - Nixon era) So Eric would've had to have gotten married/fathered before Kennedy's death since He probably got captured during Johnson's administration...and has been locked up while Nixon is president. That's the onnnnly way I can see them explaining that crap. He just GROWS faster, probably the reason for his premature graying too.
Amirose, you fool. There was literally a close call moment at the end of this movie when Kitty was about to get blasted in the face, until Mystique dropped the gun LAST second.
I love how everyone's fate depended on Mystiques choice and Charles's skill to help mutants make the right choices. And McAvoy is fantastic at filling Patrick Stewart's shoes.
Well, I thought they used him well in this film. He is not suppose to play a major role in the film. I understand your frustrations though. However, they did use him a lot in X3.
For me,his screen time doesn't bother me a whole lot,but what I can't understand is why, for the love of god can't they show how strong this guy is. In all his small scenes we never see him do any real impressive feats of strength.
I though the finale they didn't had enough Teamwork cooperation ,they were blatantly fending off the sentinels one by one ,thus resulting in their individual deaths =/. Blink's power was like very essential to their team, they could"ve tackle One Sentinel at a time since it only adapts to the respective mutant its facing ,why not 3 Mutants gang 1 Sentinel??
definitely a 10 for me. this is on Dark Knight level. I like this more than the Avengers for sure, but idk about the Dark Knight though. I'll have to see this 6 more times in theaters.
To me it was better than The Dark Knight & my reasoning for that is BATMAN! I cannot stand Christian Bale's Batman voice & Batman is the main character. The Joker was the greatest part of TKD we all know that. But I just couldnt find much to complain about with X-Men DOFP. I honestly cant. It's tough rating Avengers Vs X-Men DOFP, but I honestly would have to give it to X-Men DOFP the ensamble cast was AMAZING, the story, the action, the comedy & it wasn't overly campy at times like Avengers. I loved Avengers & Batman TDK but X-Men takes the cake for me... 10/10
SetgangTV yeah i guess if i was trying to look for something they could have done better in TDK , it would probably be Batman's voice as well. But That movie is really good though, I'm more a action thriller movie goer, so that's why i loved TDK so much since it was creepy and griddy and dark and so grounded. but for sure X men DOFP is nothing but on TDK's level.
Can someone answer this? At the end of DOFP, we see Logan wake up in their present day with everyone else. So since Age of Apocalypse takes place in the 80's, does that mean it already happened?
This is the first movie I've seen in theater this year and also the first x-men movie I've seen in theater. I'm so so glad I decided to see this. I really love how they brought the new and old casts together and also the story lines together. The future fight scenes are amazing. I felt so emotionally invested in those characters. I'm also really happy to see a lot of old characters show up again at the end, even just a few seconds. Thank you to every person who worked so hard to make this great movie.
I was so disappointed... that you guys didn't talk about the scene where the young and old versions of Xavier were onscreen talking together. I wanted to cry! Unbelievable film!
Also I'm surprised about the praise for Jennifer Lawrence. The Mystique character was written fantastically, but she seemed so flat throughout the movie. It was as though she was just trudging through just to wrap up her contract.
Only negative I have is that Angel and Nightcrawler didn't cameo at the end, I don't know how anything else could have been done better. And I'm calling it, Mystique and Magneto will be two of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen in the next movie.
What if they added mr. sinister to his 4 horsemen. And Azezel dying and not having nightcrawler with mystique I think could be rectified by it being in the past and when wolverine came from the future to the past he altered it and it changed how the whole world ends up after. So since they changed the sentinel program and trask got arrested azezel theoretically wasn't killed in the future now from 1970s an could be with mystique for the next 30 years giving us a badass Nightcrawler I hope...he was my favorite x-men besides wolverine growing up.
Jim Mills And Ben foster is amazing as an actor...I really think it was before his time when he was playing angel...(they could bring him back as archangel and fight with apocalypse with magneto and mystique and have them all change back good once they see apocalypse and mr sinister is just too destructive and evil.) AND since the past was altered and the stuff with wolverine killing jean didn't happen from x3 that means that angel didn't rip his wings off and try to be human and could have fully embraced his mutant side and hated his father more for hating that hes a mutant.
Jim Mills You've peaked my interest now, I can see Mcavoy acting with fassbender and ben foster and how amazing it would be to see true actors of our gen just killing it, and how complex it would be magneto trying to pull him to be with him and fight for all mutants and professor x trying to get to him and deal with his deep personal issues with his father in his mind and memories and the perspective of a lot of humans in the xmen world probably is and wanting him to fight with the xmen and be good but it would mean he fight against the mutants who showed him he didn't have to be ashamed of his mutation anymore. So yeah it would be awesome character arc that everybody could feel I think. Especially with Ben foster, Micheal fassbender, and James McAvoy as the actors.
Jim Mills If you haven't seen Birds of prey with ben foster check it out...classic acting. The end is awesome...lol I don't wanna spoil what he does but I will say its alil alphadog esque lol.
i know, the thing with Marvel is you get alot of the same "fans" hating on movies by Fox and Sony (Xmen and Spiderman) because they all hopped on the bandwagon. They all think Marvel/Disney is the only ones who can make good movies when alot of their movies weren't even that good until recently like Cap 2. You don't need Spiderman and the xmen and the avengers universe to collide, it happens in comics but its not so easy to do on the big screen right.
Marvel should still get the rights back. This new X-Men movie may have been a good movie, but it wasn't a good X-Men movie. It might has well been the same movie under a different name. If you want them to tell the story of the characters in the comics or if you just want to see Hulk and Wolverine fight, then the rights should definitely go back to Marvel.
No one mentioned that Stryker didn't end up taking Wolverine because it was Mystic in disguise. This means that Wolverine may never get metal claws and that means Origins never happened. If he doesn't have metal claws, that means that X1, X2, X3, Origins, and The Wolverine never happened, meaning that there is a complete clean slate as to what happened between DOFP and the present day. I have a feeling that X-Men: Apocalypse will merge the First Class storyline and the Original Cast storyline into one whole.
Actually, X-men Apocalypse doesn't need to, it's already one whole. Because of Mystique's choice, X1,X2,X3, most of Origins, and The Wolverine have already been voided. It's not just the claw thing. I'm guessing Logan's going to get his adamantium skeleton and claws some way, but it' will probably be a different way than before, unless after the events in 1973, the Wolverine of that time goes off on his own again and unknowing still gets recruited in the Weapon X program. I have no idea what Mystique wants with him since she never even met him the whole movie. Maybe she'll send him to Xavier?
wolverine after the events of dofp in the 70s does not know what happened. he will go on his own way and maybe join the weapon x program. then he'll get the adamantium claws. I still dont know what was the importance of telling us that Stryker-mystique found Logan at the bottom of the river rather than Stryker himself locating him and recruiting him for the mercenary program.
You have to remember that there are two Logans in this story. Then it becomes easier. Future Logan possessed past Logan from the time he woke up in the bedroom to when he was drowning. Once the timeline changed, future Logan went back to his own time. The other Logan in the past had no memories of what occured. So, Wolverine would've continued on with his life and the events during the movie wouldn't interfere. Then again, we never saw his adamantium claws at the end. Maybe Apocalypse will give them to him when he transforms Angel into Archangel.
In previous films I felt like Xavier could do no wrong, even in first class he rarely made mistakes, in this film I felt so much more for him because I did make mistakes, and he did make bad choices, and then he just wants to be left alone, but can't shake the fact that he wants to save mystique. James did an awesome performance, same with fassbender.
"You can never not be Wolverine." I agree! Thanks Hugh, and despite the talk about 2017 being the last year you'll show off the claws, I secretly hope that it is more of just a hiatus because you have become Logan James Howlett to us.
I LOVE that Harloff said "we can now watch XIII and others and not feel horrible because it's been fixed" ... that was EXACTLY the thought process I had after watching Days (I never saw it because my friends convinced me I would hate it).
Damn amazing film, this is no doubt the best X-Men film. I still prefer Captain America: The Winter Soldier a bit more, but this was still an awesome movie.
dan tan The reasons I liked Cap 2 so much were the amazing fight scene choreography, the emotional roller coaster that you went along with Cap on, in which he has basically an internal battle with himself about where he belongs in the world and how to save his best friend from being this mindless weapon that Hydra made him. I loved that Cap 2 was something that we've never seen before in a superhero movie, it was more than just a superhero film, it was a espionage and thriller all at the same time, but it also had ties to how people see their governments and how there is always something that seems hidden in our governments (such as Hydra hidden within Shield). To me, Cap 2 was something special, it had dark points that could measure up to The Dark Knight but still managed to also have the light hearted moments that everyone loves in Marvel Movies, the movie is just something special to me
after watching DOFP, I sat back and asked myself why Cap 2 was so awesome. I wouldnt re-watch Cap 2 when its out on dvd/bluray but i would definitely re-watch DOFP. In the end, what matters is: will the movie be remembered and will it hold up 5-10+ years from now. Cap 2 i think i would watch it if its on tv or something but DOFP i'd go out of my way to buy a copy of it and can rewatch it. Ive noticed the same thing with inception...must have rewatched that 3-4 times a year since it came out on bluray
head count, Winter Soldier lose, actor not that great either. 1) Beside Samuel and Christ Evan, the casts are ok that great either. Robert is straight up obvious evil business man. Scarlet as side character again, typical. 2) And character wise, Nick Fury + Captain + Widow, that's only 3. Avenger has way more. Xmen, nuff said, like freaking 20 characters. 3) CGI effect and action wise no match either, like compare dynamite vs. firework. Look at the trailer, Xmen Day of Future Past is obviously way way more fun.
Questions: 1:After Mystique drops the gun at the end, is she more allied with Xavier, or Magneto from that point on? 2: And with her acting as Stryker, is she actually rescuing Logan (assuming she is more good now) or making him go thru with the adamantium surgery?
One of the movie's greatest strengths in my opinion was the fact that the relationship between Charles and Wolverine were opposite. In X-Men 1, Wolverine was a lost angry man who never listened to Xavier so Xavier had to treat him as a student. X-Men Days of Future Past: Charles was a lost sad man who never listens to Wolverine so Wolverine has to treat him like a student. That gave the relationship between Charles and Wolverine some of the best chemistry I've ever seen in a comic book film
I really liked the film the one issue that I had is that they made Quicksilver way too overpowered in the Kitchen Scene, it was a great scene but kind of ruined the balance. He literally has an eternity to just move around and do whatever he wants, bullets can reach a target in a fraction of a second but from his view they were slowed down by minutes I don't think that even in the comics after he had unlocked his full potential from training that he was that fast, even at his peak his maximum was a couple times faster than the speed of sound. As others have said if they brought him with them during the final battle scene it would have been finished in a couple of seconds, going by this film he was the strongest mutant in the x-men cinematic universe.
It's true soldiers aren't suppose to show emotion but that's when in combat. If he's not feeling what's happening to his own family then it comes off as bad acting. That doesn't mean he has to be a wimp but a great actor can show how a man hurts.
For someone to think, he was awesome. Just shows how bad most movies really are these days. Kids now, juat want over the top action. No Acting or good story needed.
I know a lot of people that are like that, they can't show any emotion towards other authority figure. This is the directors first blockbuster movie, I give him props for working hard on the visuals and cinematography, it's his first time also dealing with real good actors like Arron, ken, Bryan, and Elizabeth Olsen. If anything blame the writer or the script for giving the weak dialogue.
I thought of two minor negatives for this movie: 1. When Erik says to wolverine "imagine if those were metal"; It just didn't seem to make much sense considering he has no idea that they were at some point. 2. When Erik tries to kill Raven; I don't quite see his motive there and think it was unnecessary. Other than that though; 9.9/10 :)
If X-Men Apocalypse takes place in the past, then will the movie simply be Xavier telling Logan about what happened in the new continuation? Also, have the events of X2, X3, and The Wolverine been completely voided?
I was wondering the same thing. and yeah I think X1,2,3 and wolverine are all voided. Different timeline and shit now. Thats why I would love to see another Xmen movie with the Old cast, but unlikely :(
Just because the end-credit scene has En Sabah Nur (AKA Apocalypse) doesn't mean the next movie has to take place in the past. If you know anything about Apocalypse then you know that this guy likes to prepare. He is the first mutant and as far as what he thinks, he will be the last mutant. In fact, he doesn't even consider himself a mutant in the comics when he fights the X-Men. He thinks himself a god...but if you lived thousands of years and obtained countless powers, would you not think you were a god too?
It all depends on what cast X-men: Apocalypse has. If it goes with the younger cast, then it would be in between 1973 and the 50 years later when Wolverine woke up. In terms of what movies count? X1, X2, X3, most of Origins, and The Wolverine has all been voided. ANYTHING that happened after 1973 and that moment has been changed and voided. However, everything previous to 1973 still exists, so Magneto and Xavier's pasts are still the same, all the mutants who died (Banshee, Azazel, Angel, Emma Frost, etc) are still dead, Wolverine's past in Origins previous to 1973 still happened, and all of First Class still happened. Other, than that, everything else has been shifted.
I can't be the only one who laughed out loud when Fassbender flew off at the end with his arms like tiny wings on his hips. Especially given how badass he is all around and with his facial expression, I just thought it was hilarious.
9.5 only because there are a couple things I didn't think were perfect or maybe I just didn't understand. 1. Why isn't Xavier dead due to Last Stand? 2. Why did Wolverine have his claws back in the future? 3. Why was there no military response to Magneto taking over the White House? I could write this off as just saying they knew a response was futile I suppose. 4. Amirose: there was that last second save the world moment when everyone in the future is about to die as the sentinel's lasers are in mid-shot; then the future changes at the last second. This is important because it was stated that the changes in the past wouldn't take effect until Wolverine "wakes up" so it adds tension to the last second save. 5. The room in the future that everyone was in stays exactly the same after everyone fades away and the future was changed. Abandoned remote temple in the mountains that wasn't effect by the time line change maybe? 6. The drug to give Xavier his legs back and allow Beast to control his appearance felt like it only served to allow the actors to have more unaltered face time instead of truly serving any real movie purpose. Xaviers alterations could have been explained using countless real drugs I'm sure and why did Beast have to appear normal? A drug like that existing in the movie universe would be a major game changer and I'm sure it will just go ignored now moving forward.
I do have a negative though, how did Professor X come back to life? The end credits scene of X-Men: The Last Stand had Professor X's mind in the body of a comatose patient and then in The Wolverine and this movie he's alive and no mention of him coming back and I know those movies have been erased from canon but I still would of liked an answer.
Matthew Sadler No, he has no twin, his brother is the Juggernaut, anyways, you guys miss the whole concept, with the time travel all bets are off, timelines change, alternate realities, timeline restored. Pretty sure they used this story arc just so they could tweek some things that had pissed a lot of fan's off, and they did manage to fix their blunders in the canon, but with some minor bending still "present".
I gotta say the future sentinels were a little op i mean they killed iceman blink colossus warpath sunspot and bishop not once but twice that was really hard to watch i don't think i'll ever get that image of colossus being torn in half by 2 sentinels out of my head ever
I've been thinking about this and I think this may be leading to something but that white haired kid in the beginning of the movie that found the X in the ground could be Cable? With the X-Force movie announced a while back I just thought it would make sense to that actually being Cable.
Hi there AMC crew, I got to say I love you all show. Like hearing everyone's thoughts on all the movies, especially comic book movies, likes and dislikes. I watched Xmen Sunday night gone and I totally love it, especially the Quick Silver scene, that was epic, lol. Unfortunately, I got trick at the end credits. Cause I waited to see if there was something to come after the first set of credits. Nothing!! . . second set of credits started and I was disappointed so I walked out. Now hearing you all spoke on what is at the end. . . I was like CHAAA!! I missed that, so now of course have to go see it again. Thanks and keep up the good work, for movie goers like myself.
X men movies to watch in order- X-men first class X-men wolverine origins(optional) X-men X2 X-men 3 the last stand The wolverine (optional) X-men days of future past
People think this movie is overrated. Well you're wrong because there is no bad thing about this movie. The only bad thing you'll find is that you have to knit pick and complain about little stuff.
Did anyone else feel a sense of nostalgia when young Xavier opened the doors to cerebro again? It felt nostalgic to me not only because the use of cerebro in the early X-men films, but because it had been so long since Xavier had gone into cerebro because he'd become so broken; and the music during the scene when he was entering made me pretty emotional.
flaw in movie - how can magneto control metal to do stuff in places he cannot see, such as follow a person out of view and hit them? such as the metal train tracks filling into each sentinel? also how does magneto turn them on and they go off when he gets knocked out? this doesn't make sense.
Crash Prime totally agreed, i think this could be my number 1 movie on this first half of the year, my top 3 are Godzilla, Captain America Winter Soldier and X-Men Days of Future Past
The ONLY scene that I count as a negative was when Raven shot Magneto in THE NECK, and in one minute he woke up and didn't feel pain, I flied away.without any blood coming out of his neck.
Zim, the entire movie was building up to the scene of what Raven's choice will be...u know, the part when she decided not to shoot the scientist. the shot on Magneto was to disable not kill. She shot him exactly where she intended. But yes he stopped bleeding rather quickly, then i though its a pg13 and gore wasn't really the pull of this movie anyways. hope that helps a little.
How did Xavier come out of hid midlife crises the first time around, without Wolverine's intervention. When we see 70s Xavier, he's lost everything and has lost confidence in himself. It took a massive kick in the the ass from Logan and Future Xavier to get him back on the right path and to give him the confidence to use his powers again to help people.
I think the 1st time around he did do it without logan's help it just took him longer...in this instance I think they had to speed the process along due to the situation in the future
I enjoyed X-Men DOFP but I really think it is getting overrated by the critics out there, this panel is typical of what many are saying about this film… but Oscar worthy? Seriously? So since our wonderful panel (no sarcasm there I really like these guys) seems unable to say anything negative let me point out a couple of things… All the new mutants in the future timeline have NO character at all… sure blink, sunspot, and bishop have cool powers but do we know ANYTHING about their character? Only if you read the comics. To a lesser degree this is true of Storm, Colossus, and Shadowcat/sprite as well but at least they had some development in past films. Now maybe I missed it but when exactly did Kitty gain the mutant power of sending people back in time anyway? Many like those on this panel say that they did not have many lines but you felt their struggle because they have to keep fighting these robots over and over and they can’t win… wrong… based on their time travel early warning trick they really only fight them once… they just fight them for the first time over and over but they would have no memory of the prior battles… well except Bishop. I felt no emotional connection with anyone in the future timeline except for Professor X and Magneto. Second… they killed off the majority of the First Class cast off screen just to give Mystique a motive to kill Trask. Lame. Also they show that Trask kept trophies of his kills (Angel’s wings etc) and in this trophy case he has Havok’s chest piece… but Havok survived and was freed by Mystique BEFORE going to Trask… so how did that happen? Here you have a perfect setup for what could have been both closer to the original comic and more interesting… Rather than kill off most of the established characters, have Mystique find out that Trask has killed some mutant (pick one) and he is trying to round up more for his research, she then stages the rescue in Vietnam where she frees the rest of the first class survivors and have her form the new brotherhood to stage the attack against Trask, while Professor X, Wolverine, Beast, Quicksilver, and Magneto try to stop them in the end, most of the mutants on both sides are incapacitated, Magneto switches sides to kill Nixon and Trask, and Mystique stops him in the same way that she did in the final film. Finally, and I am surprised that I have yet to see anyone comment on this… why is Fox trying to push the franchise PG-13 to the limits? Even in this very review Christian states how he loved the film because it reminds him of the X-men comics from when he was a kid… really? Now I am a bit older than Christian so perhaps my view is tainted by time, but I never remember nudity and lots of explicit language in the comics when I grew up… and to give you a bit of perspective… the two part Days of Future Past story was the first X-Men comics I bought. I like many loved the X-Men when I was young, but I am dismayed that I can’t take my kids to see a film about these iconic heroes because someone things it is cool to have wolverine say “F**K” in first class, and have Professor X say it back to him now… or have “S**T” in the script more times than I could count… not to mention the nude scene which sure was great for the ladies or gay men… but was completely gratuitous. Ok… end of rant… flame away.
Thank you.. can I add Quicksilver are not supposed to be funny. Hes not Flash..His origins are really dark..this is why Avengers succeed, thanks man appreciated the reality in there.
As for your comment about how these movies are too explicit, I grew up with the Ultimate comics and these movies are pretty tame by comparison. Yes they couldn't curse in the comics but they were just as violent, dark and even bloodier. Which I always thought was weird. Also these movies have never been able to do justice to side characters and at least these side character were better than the ones in first class. We're also supposed to get an X-Force movie so they might show up again, and that is going to be really violent. Oh and I guess Kitty's powers work using space and time but eh?
Joshua .Perez Dude for me this is not violent enough. Uncanny x force comics are my fave. For the explicit to see a naked dude his right nobody cares a part womens or gay pple. They have 2 choices a good R or a soft style like Avengers. They choose between. It sucks.
one flaw I noticed was; in the canon as it stood before it was corrected, mystique was captured and I assume killed so they could experiment on her for the sentinel research, yet she was present in X1,2,3 so in accordance with the original timeline that could be seen as a plot hole. other than that the movie was solid, I enjoyed it a lot and would say it is my favorite in the franchise. I liked it more than Cap2 as well
Man, some of the mutant deaths were brutal. From beheading Ice man, to ripping Colossus in half, to impaling Storm and Blink, and melting Warpaths face off, man it was crazy. Yea I kinda figured they would die in those battles but I didn't envision it those ways. Lol
It was a great film. Negative is maybe the action scenes which wasnt enough for general audience. Drama is 10/10 but action wise is maybe 6/10. It wont make as much money as cap 2 oversea tho. Us , uk n aus maybe but def nt in asia. Ive heard that ppl dnt like it as much in asia.
Marvel DC Superhero Fan because the pull of simplified heroic story telling through overly done action sequences aka Avenger universe is easier to understand than the English language(subbed). with that said, Xmen Day Of Future Past has my solid vote for the best summer movie of 2014 or go as far as to say the best story telling movie of the year!
I actually think its better than the Avengers, better than Captain America the Winter Soldier and better than the Dark Knight Rises. Not joking. The only comic book movies that imo are better then this are Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Deadpol.
There was a moment in the senate hearing where one senator referred to Trask as a little person and the hole board laughed at him. This happened in the 1st time he was trying to get funding for the sentinel program.
I loved the development of Magneto. In First Class he struggled with the submarine and the satellite dish but in this he just lifts a stadium like its a feather. Man this film was so good. CANNOT wait for Apocalypse! :D
X-Men days of future past was the best X-Men movie to date easily, and one of the best (if not the best) superhero movies so far, and an overall excellent movie in general.
This movie knocks Avengers out of my top 5 best comic book movies, probably puts it as my 3rd favorite. It was just almost flawless other than the couple of things that they didn't explain.
I normally dislike superhero action movies as a rule. Everyone I've seen has been overstuffed WIRH action and very little plot that truly resonates with me. Except for this. It's my 2nd X-Men movie (after 1st class) and I didn't have much hope fir this but my god it blew me away. I wanted to go back inti the theatre and watch it again the minute I stepped out. For me this is the only superhero movie that made it less about the powers and more about the mentality if the characters. It was deeply emotional and I loved every bit of it. Cannot wait for Apocalypse now.
Well, I've just come back from watching this movie and I am SO GLAD this show exists. X-Men has not been my favourite comic-turn-movie franchise by any stretch... but this movie is flipping incredible! It was REDONKULOUS! Schnepp nailed it about the smile permanently fixed on your face after the "Maximoff" scene. Simply put, its a better, more well rounder movie than The Avengers and is of a grander scale than The Dark Knight. Everything about this movie was on point and just.. wow! I'm gonna go and watch it again in 3D! BRING ON APOCALYPSE!
How about when did Shadowcat get the ability to send someone else back in time? I can get on board with "she can phase through space so her second mutation is to phase through time." but if phasing through time was a latent power of Kitty's it would stand to reason she would go back in time too when using it on someone else: when she phases other people through objects she's only sharing her intangibility with another person. BUT, if Rogue absorbs the ability to phase through time _and_ takes some mind juice from the Prof. it would make sense why Kitty wasn't phased back to the 70's with Logan. As a plus we'd see some awesome action from Ellen, phasing through the Sentenals and shorting them out until they adjust themselves to phase at her frequency. Thoughts?
In the movie she can only send a person back in time a few months because the strain would kill most people who make the trip including herself. Wolverine was the only one who could recover fast enough to get sent years into the past and change history. Plus she has to maintain a bridge between the past and future in order to sync the timelines which would be very difficult if not impossible to do if she did it to herself. That is why she couldn't go back to the 1970s with Logan.
BlueHooloovoo I did watch the movie, that is what she could do and that is why Logan could be the only one to survive the trip. My beef is from the sweaty sweatpants wearing nerd rage point of view. Shadowcat doesn't have time travel or conscious reallocation abilities in the comics. It seems like a bad choice to me to randomly give her character a new power without some form of explanation. My previous post was my more preferred version of her new-found abilities, logically explaining how it works in line with her original abilities, and would also bring Rouge into the mix, she should have been in more of the movie. If in the Hunger Games Katniss is also a master swordsman that's cool, but if it's a departure from the source material so maybe give it a minute of explanation.
I understand, I just wanted to point out what I took away from the movie. Shadowcat seems to be combined with Rachel Summers from the DoFP storyline in order to save having to write in another character into the movie.
PrizeFighter It's been awhile since I read it. But I think in the comics Shadowcat/Kate/Kitty does have the ability to phase her mind to her younger self. So basically no new-found abilities. They just used Wolverine because that's a character that is popular and the general audience recognizes.
The Wolverine was pure crap, worse then Origins. Why they even made that movie where the whole point was Wolverine losing adamantium which they've completely ignored and Charles being alive and teamed up with Magneto for what? 10 year surviving and then sending Wolverine back to past on his own initiative (which they didn't plan)??? Cause in that timeline there is no Sentinels. Big question is: There wasn't any Sentinels in original trilogy timeline. Who changed that and with that move caused apocalyptic future??? AND (Spoiler) Wolverine survived, Stryker/Mistique found him, he went through project x program, found Professor, lived as history professor in the mansion and after 30-40 years, one they he just remembered everything???
Logan loses his Ada claws in The Wolverine. He still has his ada skeleton. The Wolverine happened in 2013 and the dark future happened in 2023. Plenty of time for Logan to find a way to get his claws back. He probably got his claws back with the help of Magneto. Magneto could easily fuse new ada metal giving Logan his claws back. _Big question is: There wasn't any Sentinels in original trilogy timeline. Who changed that and with that move caused apocalyptic future???_ This guy John David Croasdell, summed it up pretty well. John David Croasdell 1 hour ago Trask couldn't find a buyer/investor for his PROTOTYPE Sentinels. Mutants where merely a rumor, not a tangible threat. When Mystique shot and killed him in the past, his work was still there, but still without a buyer and without a great scientific mind behind it. Mystique's capture in X-Men 3: The Last Stand gifts Trask's research with Her Mutated DNA and and enables the company to finish and sell a COMPLETED Sentinel Prototype to fit the demand of protection that may feel necessary in the public's eye after considering the events of X -Men 1, 2 and 3, thus giving the Future Sentinels have their first ancestor: Transforming and Adapting Sentinels 1.0 after the events of The Last Stand. Looks like Beasts efforts at the UN were in vain...
FrenkyCRO If you scroll down the comments you can probably still find John's original comment. He also puts out there that Magneto could possibly be the reason Wolverine has his claws back. Pretty clear *a lot* of things happen off screen. Like the deaths of Angel and Azazel in 1963, the death of Beast in 2015 in the timeline, etc etc. So Wolverine getting his claws back off screen isn't far-fetched at all.
FrenkyCRO Hmm well, the way I see it, Logan from 2023 retained all his memories from the old timeline, like Charles said he would in the beginning of the movie, because that consciousness is connected to that body in 2023. So when Logan leaves the Logan body of 1973 to return back to his original body in 2023, he still only has memories from the old timeline and going back in time.
I think the credits scene in The Wolverine actually makes sense. Going by the tie-in website for DOFP (the 25moments one): In the original timeline Trask Industries' production of Sentinels was put on hold for some reason or another, but was continued after the events of Last Stand. (Magneto's bridge shit probably made people more open to giant mutant-hunting robots...) Using the credits scene and the timeline given on the tie-in website we can infer that once production of the Sentinels was greenlit once again, Charles and Erik found each other and realized they needed to get the X-Men and any powerful mutants they could find together. Thus, the group we see in the 'bad future' of DOFP is formed.
This film gave me a similar feeling that Inception gave me... Hear me out. When all the characters are sending Logan back, they are in 1 confined space all together and their entire lives depend on this. You truly feel the stakes, just like in inception, when they are in the plane, or car. You truly feel like these people are existing in the future in that little room, this is GREAT! Also the ending where Logan is walking around the school was very reminiscent of Inception, when Leo is welcomed back to reality!
7/10 for me Some things I didnt like: Cheesy childhood flashback Jennifer Lawrence The high frame rate. The end setpiece was a bit brief A little melodramatic at times I still enjoyed it. Just not as much as these guys. I feel similarly about First Class.
What do you mean the high frame rate? Is that how real/clarity the film was made to look? I never really liked how the X films looked or how the coloring was. Maybe X2 & First Class were the best but the rest just looked odd.
***** Wow. No need to call him a dumbass because of his preferences. .. Why is it so hard to stay civil on the web? I haven't seen TASM2 because I heard it was fairly terrible, and I've watched and love DOFP. But if someone disagrees with me, well that's their prerogative. No need for name calling.
You mentioned how perfect the emotional scene was on the plane between Charles and Magneto, but my very favorite part of that scene was at the end where Logan looks at Magneto for a second and says, "So, are you gonna clean this shit up?" Sooo good. Also, in the trailer, they make it seem like James McAvoy says "I don't want your future!" to Patrick Stewart, but I thought it was so awesome that he was actually looking through Wolverine's memory and seeing how awful his life has been. Best movie ever!
It was said in an interview that Magneto gives Wolverine his metal claws back after the events of 'The Wolverine'. They must have cut that since from the film, like they did with Rouge. But I'm pretty sure that they leave a node to that, when wolverine slips consciousness back to the future and cuts Katie. After Wolverine cut Katie, Magneto firmly restricts Wolverine to the table and says something.
i have 2 negatives: 1. Jennifer Lawrance is way so overatedo seshe is just bad... 2. i think they could use another new mutant to send people back in time, i feel like it has nothing to do these 2 abilities from her.
i was actually disappointed by this xmen film… don't get me wrong its a great great movie but the way amirose played it up i was just let down. I've already seen it 3 times and to me it was a good movie but all this hype of it being the best comic book movie, personally, i think is wrong. i still think that belongs to either avengers or The Dark Knight. i don't even think it was better than cap 2
Your crazy if you think the avengers was better than this movie. Now you are entitled to your own opinion. But the avengers was very dull and had some parts that dragged on. This x men movie was done flawless. If you want to find a movie better than this you can only argue cap America but this blew it out of the water
The quick silver part alone and the action with blink and the way they flawlessly tied in all the older movies in just genius pure genius and you have to admit these actors the main ones delivered performances that are oscar worthy aside from dark knight this movie shits on all the previous marvel movies ie
i said this movie was great i liked it but people were hyping it up like it was the best superhero movie to date. its in my top 5 but its not as good as Avengers The Dark Knight or Cap 2 I'm sorry but i guess I'm crazy cuz i wasn't disappointed by any of those three movies at all. sorry bro but i don't agree with you on the avengers issue
Daniel chavarria I agree with you. I think I had only one issue with Avengers and that was the Thor/Hulk fight. If anything they could've either shorten the fight scene with him and Iron Man and made the fight between Thor and Hulk longer and better. And I didn't like him jumping on Hulk's back like a girl, that was not very Thor-like. And bullets can't harm him yet he ran and ducked for cover. I just think that if they were going to give us an Asgardian bad ass, he should've been acting like one, just like he did when he fought Iron Man. Hopefully there will be a round two with those behemoths.
NoDDinOuTMeLoDy This movie had dull moments as well, a lot of characters were throw aways and the action sequences were OK and limited, get off your high horse.
There were two things I missed from this movie in order to make it perfect. 1) Seing Wolverine slicing up a Sentinel with his Adamantium claws the way he did in the first episode of the cartoon. 2) All the characters having uniforms that looked a lot more like their iconic uniforms in all the future scenes. I know it would look a little silly to make the uniforms look exactly like in the comics, but they could at least have gone with an updated design with elements of the classic uniforms; Wolverine could've had an armoured version (with those Sentinels, armoured uniforms were certainly motivated; function before fashion) of the uniform Mariko gave him at the end of The Wolverine, for example.
Talking about how wolverine gets back his adamantium claws, in the comics he gets them by becoming a horsemen of apocalypse, basically death i think, so they could bring that about to fit the continuity of the last wolverine film ?
Goddamn you Marvel! Now DC, dawn of justice and flash will have to step it up even more! Lol, don't get me wrong I love both, just DC more now, glad this turned out awesome and will give life back to xmen movies. At least marvel is kinda split into three so avengers gonna have to step it up too especially with their quicksilver. I remember everyone making fun of this quicksilver, now he's the highlight, just goes to show u shouldn't judge a movie before u see it for yourself.
I'm sorry, but the people working at AMC really have low standards. Have they even disliked a film yet this year? "Oh, this film is my favorite, but this movie is leagues above that." How fucking huge is your range for a film to be "amazing" or "awesome"?? Even a film as atrocious as ASM2, they gave a frikkin' 7(!) to...
They don't review movies they don't like, so it may seem like that. But if you want another opinion: this movie is absolutely fantastic, an 11 out of10.
jrm48220 I will give you Osborn/Goblin. But rhino was there to set up the sinister six. Both will have more time in other movies, and Goblin will probably be the villain in the next.
The AMC crew don't have low standards. They are just more positive than the majority of this generation of movie viewers. They have a love and enjoyment of film in general, so they don't set out to purposely critique, nit-pick, or be negative-Nancy's.
I really, really wish we had Rogue's special 20 minute sub-plot. I mean, she was our gateway and introduction into the movies in the first place, so it would have been nice to have her help close the original timeline. Also, allegedly, while Mystique's powers were reverse enginered to allow the Sentinals to shape-shift, it was Rogue's power that allowed them to absorb mutant powers and use Mystique's to create the counter-measure. This was the only reason Rogue was apparantly left alive and able to be resuced as the trailers show. I miss my Rogue. Can't wait for the DVD extra scenes! :D
Let's just accept that there's alternate timelines considering that this was indeed a time travel movie that altered and changed the X-Men chronology. Remember what Hank said about time-space acting like a river, it resets itself.
Tell me this if professor x is a junky and magneto is locced up who formed the Xmen and when they stopped mystique from killing Trask that would've been the ripple that changed the future and the movie lost sight of the facts it wasn't about her killing Trask and was about them not getting her
Well let's see if this movie can make avengers or iron man 3 money. I liked it but not better than cap2, avengers, dark knight. To tell you the truth I like watchman better but then this movie slides in right after to get into my top 5. Just my opinion though. Only complaints are kitty was garbage and her powers dont make sense and I actual thought the mutants in the future like ice man and bishop were poorly used and were essentially just cannon fodder/ sacrificial lambs. No real character development for the b class mutants. The AMC crew is just riding the high of men right now but soon they may come back to reality. I give this movie 8.3.
***** I know, right!? The movie was excellent!! But I'm reading some of these comments and I think a lot of people just didn't understand it. I keep on reading "plot holes" and other bullshit and I'm like, were you watching the same movie? Pretty easy to understand. And Marvin, come on, man! Character development on the B class mutants?? That's just fishing for something to pick at
***** That is the furthest thing from nit picking. You're kidding right? He actually gave REASONS as to why he didn't like it that much and those reasons are actual problems the movie had, it's not like he thought it sucked.
***** Yea ok but he wasn't nit picking he actually gave reasonable criticism of the film because they were actually true. Kitty Prydes powers did NOT make sense and it was not explained, that's not a fanboy complaint that's an actual film complaint that I'm sure film critics will point out.
Joshua Kelly Nope, wasn't kidding. Actually what I was saying was " Some other people in the comments had a problem with this, that, the other. Just picking the shit out of it. I don't disagree with how Marvin feels about the film. I disagree about the character development part. My way of looking at it is this is the 4th X-Men movie. You know who Ice-Man is! You've seen him and his story in the other three films. Bishop? I thought it was fine how they used him and they'll probably do more with him down the line. When you have a cast of that many amazing actors giving those types of performances, I'm sorry but I'm not giving a fuck that Bishop and Ice didn't get more to do. LOL! The future scenes were there to show just how dire their situation was and how mutants and people alike were getting slaughtered. So in that case, I didn't think he gave a valid REASON, as you put it
***** The character development issue goes directly to the newly shown Mutants. Blink, Warpath, Sunspot, Bishop etc a lot of us actually wanted to know who the hell they were but they were just throw aways. The performances were NOT that great lol they were just good solid performances you'd expect from a film like this and even if they were OMGAMAZING they still need to explain who the hell the newbies were.
I personally loved that they didn't provide us with a specific date of when the "future" scenes took place. Because when that date does pass (back to the future 2015) and we are nothing like the movie it won't be ruined because there was no date.
Good, nothing spectacular. None of the newly introduced mutants had any character, emotion, interest, or ANYTHING. So cool beans, they died twice and then didn't die. Did I care? Not really. Were the future scenes best scenes action-wise? Absolutely. Also... not greatly paced. Bucket of action then boom, loads of talking, then snippet of action then even MORE talking. Mystique was also just there? I got nothing from the character except one emotional beat when she sees the tortured, dead mutants in Trask's safe. Anytime they called Quicksilver PETER frustrated the crap outta me. Best part was easily, and I do mean easily and by a wide margin, was McAvoy's beautiful performance as Charles Xavier because it's SOMETHING NEW TO THE CHARACTER. I loved seeing it. Fuck off indeed Wolverine. After-credits scene did nothing for me either.
Zone3917 Yeah not gonna lie although Bishop had like no lines his death scene was really sad, when he absorbed all of the sentinels power and nuked himself to take out a few. Going back to this guy saying the future mutants had no emotion.
PLUS. The characters never felt bloated or overcrowded, they all felt natural even those mutants who didn't have dialogues, Bryan singer outdid himself he balanced a lot of elements and destroyed the mistakes the Xmen films that almost destroyed the franchise.
Zone3917 I'm so surprised that I loved this movie this much. It might be my favorite comicbook movie of all time. And I REALLY like the Nolan Batman franchise. But just the warm feelings, goosebumps, and throwbacks to the other movies. It just felt like a beginning, and an end to the X-men franchise. If Singer doesn't return for Apocalypse I will be worried, unless kindberg writes the screenplay because this story was flawless.
People stop calling this the best X-Men film ever, and start calling this the best comic book film ever. Just my opinion.
Agreed. But surely, Avengers: Endgame and its random plot device / rat
Underrated? Overrated? Well everyone is entitled to their opinion and for me this movie got all the praise it deserved. Truly outstanding, although as a big fan of her character in the cartoon/comic, I would have loved to see a little more Rogue.
She will be feature a little more in the extend BluRay which will add extra scenes.
BlueHooloovoo
I look forward to it
I thought it was overrated
I think the Sentinels must've been based both on Mystique (for their shape-shifting abilities) and Rogue (for her power absorbing/replicating abilities). In the deleted scenes, they have to rescue Rogue. Maybe she was being experimented on- extracting her DNA? Would've loved to have seen her in the fight against the Sentinels, absorbing their powers and allowing one of the other X-Men to finish off the Sentinel. We might've seen her fly then. Maybe seen her kick some arse.
C Chadwick that could explains one of the issues i had with sentinels... I was like Mystique cannot copy other mutant's powers
please say someone else noticed maximoffs little sister on his lap whilst magneto was on tv? Scarlet Witch
***** cool can't wait, singer said that
I was actually thinking Polaris, because of the age difference.
***** great more competition against the other version in avengers 2
Stacy H Quicksilver is the older twin I think...but maybe he GROWS at a faster rate. The girl is about the right age for the movie, given the timeframe (First Class - Kennedy era, DoFP - Nixon era) So Eric would've had to have gotten married/fathered before Kennedy's death since He probably got captured during Johnson's administration...and has been locked up while Nixon is president. That's the onnnnly way I can see them explaining that crap. He just GROWS faster, probably the reason for his premature graying too.
Bryan singer said it is not Scarlett witch as they are twins
first off Rest Peacefully Jon Schnepp 🕊️
second.. can’t believe this movie is almost 10 years old!
X-Men DOFP > Avengers
Fuck that.
A big negative for me has always been how under used storm has been.
yeah i agree but she was pregnant.
Agreed! She's essentially a Goddess, but they never portray her as such...
I still loved it every time she was shown on screen
I feel she should get a stand alone.
Calm down calm down she won't be pregnant on the next xmen age of apocolipse
Lol Kristian looks so awkward throughout the first 15 minutes of the video. His body language just screams "Uh is it my turn yet guys" lol
Galaxy's Edge Galaxy's Edge Bang bang.
Can someone tell me what Quicksilver said that hinted Magneto was his dad? .. I sort of heard it but missed it cuz I dropped my popcorn lol
My only negative is that they never use Colossus enough. He's always been a fav of mine but they never use him
Well, I thought they used him well in this film. He is not suppose to play a major role in the film. I understand your frustrations though. However, they did use him a lot in X3.
they never use colossus enough because he is not a mega favourite like wolverine and magneto, plus the actor who plays him isnt popular.
The actor who plays him doesn't really matter but you're right about the character
So this film acknowledges Quicksilver is the son of Magneto? One part Quicksilver was saying "My mom once knew somebody who could do that".
definitely a 10 for me. this is on Dark Knight level.
Good question.
I also thought of that. So I guess they beat Apocalypse :)
That's what I assumed. But it kind of sucks, because if that's true, then we know that if Jean or Scott die, it won't matter.
I don't think AoA will be a period piece. I think it will take place with the old class.
dementedavenger2784 it has already been confirmed that it will take place with the new class
When they start talking about Fant4stic...LMFAO.
Sad but I really think the greatness of DOFP came from the uncredited James Cameron.
The Quicksilver scene is now my favorite moment in a comic book movie ever.
I was so disappointed... that you guys didn't talk about the scene where the young and old versions of Xavier were onscreen talking together. I wanted to cry! Unbelievable film!
Yeah hated when Amirose just started to talk about it and got shot down lol
Also I'm surprised about the praise for Jennifer Lawrence. The Mystique character was written fantastically, but she seemed so flat throughout the movie. It was as though she was just trudging through just to wrap up her contract.
Only negative I have is that Angel and Nightcrawler didn't cameo at the end, I don't know how anything else could have been done better. And I'm calling it, Mystique and Magneto will be two of Apocalypse's Four Horsemen in the next movie.
Azezel die = no Nightcrawler i think. And that is one big countinuity problem right there.
I cringed with embarrassment when he says it's Oscar worthy! Get a grip.
No I agree... James is fucking awesome.
Its amazing though
10 years later and the Oscars could do with more performances like McAvoy here.
Hopefully this will shut the Marvel should get their rights back crowd up.
i know, the thing with Marvel is you get alot of the same "fans" hating on movies by Fox and Sony (Xmen and Spiderman) because they all hopped on the bandwagon. They all think Marvel/Disney is the only ones who can make good movies when alot of their movies weren't even that good until recently like Cap 2. You don't need Spiderman and the xmen and the avengers universe to collide, it happens in comics but its not so easy to do on the big screen right.
i only wish they get to borrow wolverine, just so he can fight the hulk
letmeknow nah your wish is wasted.
letmeknow
Well, I'd rather wish that Disney would lend the Hulk to Fox for one movie, so we can see the "Old Man Logan" arc on the big screen.
Cause Stryker/mystique takes Logan to get his metal claws
Maybe Apocalypse will give them to him when he transforms Angel into Archangel.
majesj who is angel again? The one that cut his wings when he was little?
I'm still geeking out about this movie, and its been 2 months now!
Did anyone notice that the name of Peter Dinklages company in the movie was called TRASK which if you rearrange spells STARK. Game Of Thrones homage ?
Damn amazing film, this is no doubt the best X-Men film. I still prefer Captain America: The Winter Soldier a bit more, but this was still an awesome movie.
can someone please help me? i didnt really enjoy cap 2. what about it made you love it so much.
I definitely agree Justin Stephens !! :)
dan tan The reasons I liked Cap 2 so much were the amazing fight scene choreography, the emotional roller coaster that you went along with Cap on, in which he has basically an internal battle with himself about where he belongs in the world and how to save his best friend from being this mindless weapon that Hydra made him.
Haha! "Toad? In a kitchen? Who'd hire that guy?" Loved it!
Questions:
1:After Mystique drops the gun at the end, is she more allied with Xavier, or Magneto from that point on?
Lmao oh if only they knew about Fant4stic....
😂😂😂i know oh john if only you knew
If only they could have seen Endgame 2019
I really liked the film the one issue that I had is that they made Quicksilver way too overpowered in the Kitchen Scene, it was a great scene but kind of ruined the balance.
He literally has an eternity to just move around and do whatever he wants, bullets can reach a target in a fraction of a second but from his view they were slowed down by minutes I don't think that even in the comics after he had unlocked his full potential from training that he was that fast, even at his peak his maximum was a couple times faster than the speed of sound. As others have said if they brought him with them during the final battle scene it would have been finished in a couple of seconds, going by this film he was the strongest mutant in the x-men cinematic universe.
watched it last night - SO AMAZING. couldn't take my eyes off for even just a second
John's enthusiasm for this film is so contagious, I really want to see the film again!
Aaron Tayor Johnson was awesome in Godzilla, He plays a soldier, soldiers are not to show emotions.
It's true soldiers aren't suppose to show emotion but that's when in combat. If he's not feeling what's happening to his own family then it comes off as bad acting. That doesn't mean he has to be a wimp but a great actor can show how a man hurts.
He is the type where he gets used to the pain. In war you lose a lot of people next to you, he even lost his mom at a young age.
lol
For someone to think, he was awesome. Just shows how bad most movies really are these days. Kids now, juat want over the top action. No Acting or good story needed.
I know a lot of people that are like that, they can't show any emotion towards other authority figure. This is the directors first blockbuster movie, I give him props for working hard on the visuals and cinematography, it's his first time also dealing with real good actors like Arron, ken, Bryan, and Elizabeth Olsen. If anything blame the writer or the script for giving the weak dialogue.
I thought of two minor negatives for this movie:
Thats why I would love to see another Xmen movie with the Old cast, but unlikely :(
Yeah pretty much lol
Just because the end-credit scene has En Sabah Nur (AKA Apocalypse) doesn't mean the next movie has to take place in the past. If you know anything about Apocalypse then you know that this guy likes to prepare. He is the first mutant and as far as what he thinks, he will be the last mutant. In fact, he doesn't even consider himself a mutant in the comics when he fights the X-Men. He thinks himself a god...but if you lived thousands of years and obtained countless powers, would you not think you were a god too?
X1 as well; If Styker never actually took Wolverine, the he probably wouldn't get metal claws, so X1 couldn't have happened.
I know I was like oh hell no at first his head got crushed then split his body in half
I get what you mean about Colossus getting torn in half. And when the sentinel stands on Ice Man's neck and breaks off his head I was in tears.
Leah Rees I was shocked when that happend
The movie was amazing. My only negative was that they never explained how Shadowcat got those time traveling powers.
X men movies to watch in order-
X-men first class
X-men wolverine origins(optional)
X-men
X2
X-men 3 the last stand
The wolverine (optional)
X-men days of future past
I luv this movie so so so much I hops mire come out
Best X-Men ever.... On par with Dark Knight... ZOMG!
I agree
People think this movie is overrated. Well you're wrong because there is no bad thing about this movie. The only bad thing you'll find is that you have to knit pick and complain about little stuff.
So freaken true.
Did anyone else feel a sense of nostalgia when young Xavier opened the doors to cerebro again? It felt nostalgic to me not only because the use of cerebro in the early X-men films, but because it had been so long since Xavier had gone into cerebro because he'd become so broken; and the music during the scene when he was entering made me pretty emotional.
flaw in movie - how can magneto control metal to do stuff in places he cannot see, such as follow a person out of view and hit them?
such as the metal train tracks filling into each sentinel?
also how does magneto turn them on and they go off when he gets knocked out? this doesn't make sense.
the movie fucking sucked...great scenes but overall did not come together
EES That person is a troll, don't entertain their BS
EES
it was shite
***** you just made me laugh!! XD XD...
Sammy Kupniewski me too. Movie was great !
Crash Prime totally agreed, i think this could be my number 1 movie on this first half of the year, my top 3 are Godzilla, Captain America Winter Soldier and X-Men Days of Future Past
i love the movie! but i have some questions...
like how would Nightcrawler exist if Azasel Died? or are they not making him his Father?
The ONLY scene that I count as a negative was when Raven shot Magneto in THE NECK, and in one minute he woke up and didn't feel pain, I flied away.without any blood coming out of his neck.
Zim, the entire movie was building up to the scene of what Raven's choice will be...u know, the part when she decided not to shoot the scientist. the shot on Magneto was to disable not kill. She shot him exactly where she intended.
But yes he stopped bleeding rather quickly, then i though its a pg13 and gore wasn't really the pull of this movie anyways. hope that helps a little.
Yes, I imagined, but It was nothing I really loved the film.
I think with Mystique killing Bolivar Trask in the first place - this got Xavier back in the saddle again and start all over again.
It has never been a better time to be a comicbook fan. Thanks to all the major studios and the actors involved for making it happen for us.
I enjoyed X-Men DOFP but I really think it is getting overrated by the critics out there, this panel is typical of what many are saying about this film… but Oscar worthy? Seriously? So since our wonderful panel (no sarcasm there I really like these guys) seems unable to say anything negative let me point out a couple of things…
All the new mutants in the future timeline have NO character at all… sure blink, sunspot, and bishop have cool powers but do we know ANYTHING about their character?
About Havoc, i think Trask got it on the island in FC (did Havoc rip it off?)
Joshua .Perez Dude for me this is not violent enough. Uncanny x force comics are my fave. For the explicit to see a naked dude his right nobody cares a part womens or gay pple. They have 2 choices a good R or a soft style like Avengers. They choose between. It sucks.
Sid Azri
Glad you said that. I never remebered Quicksilver to be humorous at all. He was always a bit moody and overprotective older brother.
God dammit, this is the first video with Krisely I rewatched after she left, I miss her :(
iSultan Sultangaliev seriously?? you miss krisely. what exactly do u miss about her?
Aww. I miss Krisily. :(
one flaw I noticed was; in the canon as it stood before it was corrected, mystique was captured and I assume killed so they could experiment on her for the sentinel research, yet she was present in X1,2,3 so in accordance with the original timeline that could be seen as a plot hole.
other than that the movie was solid, I enjoyed it a lot and would say it is my favorite in the franchise.
Lol
I know. Remember they cut Sunspot's arm off? And Iceman. Those Sentinels are ruthless.
This is the X-Men movie that I've been waiting for! 10 different shades of awesome!!! Can't wait for Age of Apocalypse!
It was a great film. Negative is maybe the action scenes which wasnt enough for general audience. Drama is 10/10 but action wise is maybe 6/10. It wont make as much money as cap 2 oversea tho. Us , uk n aus maybe but def nt in asia. Ive heard that ppl dnt like it as much in asia.
how so ? Blink death =(?
Marvel DC Superhero Fan because the pull of simplified heroic story telling through overly done action sequences aka Avenger universe is easier to understand than the English language(subbed). with that said, Xmen Day Of Future Past has my solid vote for the best summer movie of 2014 or go as far as to say the best story telling movie of the year!
Good film but 10/10.. Nah no way!! This is made fr an x men fans but nt fr everyone. 5/10 ppl of non x men fans fell asleep in theater.
Fro Do Same =)
Jenny Lu Its for everyone too, when those Death scenes were too much for ppl to see lol
I actually think its better than the Avengers, better than Captain America the Winter Soldier and better than the Dark Knight Rises. Not joking.
The only comic book movies that imo are better then this are Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and Deadpol.
erosion271 Batman Begins is a slightly more solid story and saved an entire franchise.
+erosion271 Why are you arguing with someone's opinion?
I agree. DOFP is the best CBM ever made IMO
Come on avengers is way better then this shit
REGINALD JONES Don't get me wrong, Avengers was awesome. But plot wise, it is bland compared to this one.
Cannot wait for Apocalypse now.
too bad it wasnt so good
Well, I've just come back from watching this movie and I am SO GLAD this show exists.
22:20 how were the first two X-Men films hard to follow ?
BlueHooloovoo
I did watch the movie, that is what she could do and that is why Logan could be the only one to survive the trip.
Time and Space are relative to each other. If you can control one, you can control the other...theoretically.
AND (Spoiler)
Wolverine survived, Stryker/Mistique found him, he went through project x program, found Professor, lived as history professor in the mansion and after 30-40 years, one they he just remembered everything???
Logan loses his Ada claws in The Wolverine. He still has his ada skeleton. The Wolverine happened in 2013 and the dark future happened in 2023. Plenty of time for Logan to find a way to get his claws back. He probably got his claws back with the help of Magneto. Magneto could easily fuse new ada metal giving Logan his claws back.
_Big question is: There wasn't any Sentinels in original trilogy timeline. Who changed that and with that move caused apocalyptic future???_
This guy John David Croasdell, summed it up pretty well.

Trask couldn't find a buyer/investor for his PROTOTYPE Sentinels.
Jennifer Hamels
What you've said about Wolverine is pretty far-fetched but John's comment is pretty damn ''possible to happen''
FrenkyCRO
If you scroll down the comments you can probably still find John's original comment.
Jennifer Hamels
Tnx for being helpful. And what about Wolverine remembering what happened 30 years later? Any idea about that?
FrenkyCRO Hmm well, the way I see it, Logan from 2023 retained all his memories from the old timeline, like Charles said he would in the beginning of the movie, because that consciousness is connected to that body in 2023. So when Logan leaves the Logan body of 1973 to return back to his original body in 2023, he still only has memories from the old timeline and going back in time.
This movie is AWESOME! It is now my 2nd favorite comic book film behind only The Dark Knight.
I think the credits scene in The Wolverine actually makes sense. Going by the tie-in website for DOFP (the 25moments one): In the original timeline Trask Industries' production of Sentinels was put on hold for some reason or another, but was continued after the events of Last Stand. (Magneto's bridge shit probably made people more open to giant mutant-hunting robots...)
Using the credits scene and the timeline given on the tie-in website we can infer that once production of the Sentinels was greenlit once again, Charles and Erik found each other and realized they needed to get the X-Men and any powerful mutants they could find together.
Did anyone else freak out when the sentinel decapitated Iceman?!?
Had to rewind that a few times like wtf?
i was blown the f!ck away with this movie. the best movie i saw this year. YES better than captain america.
7/10 for me
Some things I didnt like:
Cheesy childhood flashback
Jennifer Lawrence
The high frame rate.
The end setpiece was a bit brief
A little melodramatic at times
I still enjoyed it. Just not as much as these guys. I feel similarly about First Class.
What do you mean the high frame rate? Is that how real/clarity the film was made to look? I never really liked how the X films looked or how the coloring was. Maybe X2 & First Class were the best but the rest just looked odd.
Sounds like fluff to me... I guess some people are just hard to please!
Tyson Brough Or some people are just pleased by different things. I liked TASM2 a bit more than this.
***** Wow. No need to call him a dumbass because of his preferences. .. Why is it so hard to stay civil on the web? I haven't seen TASM2 because I heard it was fairly terrible, and I've watched and love DOFP. But if someone disagrees with me, well that's their prerogative. No need for name calling.
Nathan U "Some men aren't looking for anything logical".
After Wolverine cut Katie, Magneto firmly restricts Wolverine to the table and says something.
i have 2 negatives:
1. Jennifer Lawrance is way so overatedo seshe is just bad...
2. i think they could use another new mutant to send people back in time, i feel like it has nothing to do these 2 abilities from her.
'overatedo' wat? XD
thomassaurus ya typing in tablet for the first time is hardd hehehe
They should have brought in Cable! That would have been sick.
James Killpack He'll be in the next one.
Matthew Skinner He better be, dammit...that would be soo great!
i was actually disappointed by this xmen film… don't get me wrong its a great great movie but the way amirose played it up i was just let down.
This movie handles humor right! Marvel take notes
The BEST thing I love about DOFP was the end result of The Last Stand being erased from history! Sense or no sense in time travel, I hated that film!
Ruy Duarte Agreed!!! Loved every minute of it!
I concur with the above comments the movie was outstanding I think tasm2 wasn't that high

I will give you Osborn/Goblin. But rhino was there to set up the sinister six. Both will have more time in other movies, and Goblin will probably be the villain in the next.
The AMC crew don't have low standards. They are just more positive than the majority of this generation of movie viewers. They have a love and enjoyment of film in general, so they don't set out to purposely critique, nit-pick, or be negative-Nancy's.
the joke in the elevator made me laugh...
quicksilver was like: "my mom knew a guy that can control metal"
Lol wow its a shame to see these guys gush over this movie with the gaping holes in the storyline why waste time putting bishop in this movie why
Let's just accept that there's alternate timelines considering that this was indeed a time travel movie that altered and changed the X-Men chronology. Remember what Hank said about time-space acting like a river, it resets itself.
Tell me this if professor x is a junky and magneto is locced up who formed the Xmen and when they stopped mystique from killing Trask that would've been the ripple that changed the future and the movie lost sight of the facts it wasn't about her killing Trask and was about them not getting her
So because a great movie wasn't your thing it has gaping plot holes ? Lame..
I pointed out the holes get over it that shit made no sense u lame 😭😭😭😭
Cowboy DEE I think those "plot holes" aren't as broken as your English.
Its sad that another Black character bites the dust in the X-Men franchise RIP Bishop... casting Halle Berry was the first LOL
You guys are so awesome everything you talked about was exactly how I felt lol specially the peeing on my self part love you guys!! Keep it up
I personally loved that they didn't provide us with a specific date of when the "future" scenes took place.
You sir. Cannot be pleased. this movie is 10/10.
I know everyone has different opinions, but people who are hard to please are so annoying.
Zone3917
Yeah not gonna lie although Bishop had like no lines his death scene was really sad, when he absorbed all of the sentinels power and nuked himself to take out a few.
Zone3917
I'm so surprised that I loved this movie this much.
7 out of 10..its not all that..i thought AMC, especially John, overates some movies(cough, cough Man of Steel)...it was ok
In the military scene when Mystique busted out Havok, was that Spike from X-Men Evolution?? The one with spikes on his head.
Great review you guys!!! Can't wait to see it again :)
that chick on the right is annoying. "ohhh this movvie is SOOO perfect" blah blah blah.
