Days of Future Past is my favorite X-Men film, it was the first one I watched in the cinema and it was a great experience seeing the Original cast with the First Class Cast.
Just wanna say both actors played Charles so well that I didn't even notice that the retelling of Mystiques history as told by Patrick was actually played by the "Young Charles". And then when Young Charles uses Logan as a bridge to the future, it feels naturally like two versions of a character interacting and not two actors playing the same character. & Like you said, it's a neat way to bridge both realities. Thanks for noticing that!
@@RationallySkepticalEven at this point, physical media was on the way out. So for a lot of people, including me they probably never bought the Blu-ray. Just saw it in the theaters and then on streaming services.
They're the only good ones. Logan is a masterpiece but I don't think it counts as an X-Men movie. The Wolverine is good but not great and again, i'm not sure if it counts as an X-Men movie.
Magneto doesn’t get impaled by metal, it’s a piece of a sentinel, you can see it transforming after he pulls it out. That’s why he doesn’t stop it with his power. Just a heads up 😂
I love this movie and this video! But I want to mention the tragic passing of Adan Canto, the actor who played Sunspot in this film. He died from appendix cancer earlier this year. And it's really sad news on how young he still was at the age of 42.
It's time for the X-Men to take centre stage. Do this right Marvel and Disney. Also, please keep McAvoy and Fassbender as Professor X and Magneto. They are now the perfect age and casting for those roles in the current timeline.
Days of Future Past is my favorite X-men movie, The Rogue Cut of the film is my favorite version of this movie - i think the scenes flow better in this version. One thing i was disapointed about was that Bryan Singer was going to explain in the film how Professor X got his body back at the end of X-men 3 but he never touched on that subject
So the ending with Mystique fishing Logan out of the river is an homage to how Logan was forced to go under the Weapon X program without his consent. The helmet used in X-Men Apocalypse was a mind control device used to train Logan/Wolverine during the Weapon X experiments since he was the only non-voluntary participant.
The kid at the start of the movie had that white streak in his hair for real. He had an actual mutation that was shared by his father and brother who had similar white streaks. He came to the scene to be used as an extra but got thrown in when the director saw him.
I just watched DOFP last night and even 10 years later it is still one of the best films I’ve ever seen and imo tied with X2 as the best X-Men films ever.
Also, Lorna Dane a.k.a. Polaris in The Gifted is Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's half sister in the comics as they had different mothers unlike what was depicted in DoFP.
Days of Future Past had, outside of perhaps The Dark Knight's "I Believe In Harvey Dent", the best pre-release marketing campaign of any movie in recent memory. So much cool content in the lead-up to the film's debut, including a couple of websites, amazingly detailed Sentinel schematics, etc.
I remember buying this movie on itunes and only found out whrn i bought it that the rogue cut was included in the extras. Ever since i watched it back then, i never stopped watching that version
Bryan Singer said he made Stryker's eyes do that yellow flash, and liked how it looked; so--even though he's not gonna bother explaining it--he left it in. Maybe you could make a pre-sequel about how Mystique took Wolverine to the Weapon X place and planned to break him out but then failed because Loki knew that Wolverine needed the adamantium skeleton and so sent Stanley Ipkiss (The Mask) to save Stryker and set the timeline right again.
I saw this film in cinemas when it first came out and I thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part, but it wasn't until I was a lot older that I started to appreciate this film as a brillantly crafted time travel film, that's always worth revisiting in some capacity every now and again. Great work as always NR.
That's why he's the only one that remembers, the future changes and he doesn't have to do it again. Nobody else knows it happened, and he technically never did it the first time. The Charles kills everyone but him in old age and they both die because they can't go back in time anymore 😢

11:31 Ngl, I feel like Tim Pococ was great casting for Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I wonder if he'd still be a good choice for the character in the MCU.
Why did they not use the Rogue version? Never understood that, other than them cutting it for time. But, even then, I think they could have kept it in.
9:59 correction, the reason why Logan has grey hair is because in The Wolverine (2013) Ichirō Yashida extracted some of his healing mutations causing his mutation to somehow change and maybe lessen. That's why in Logan (2017) He's old.
slight fix at 34:03, it isnt metal, its hard to see but you can see the shifting looks of Mystique/Sentinals as he pulls it out from the top down camera perspective, so it was a strapnel from one of the sentinals that hit Magneto
Thank you for including The Rogue Cut. This is the better version and the only one I recognize as canon. X 1 and 2 will always be classics but this is my favorite one of the franchise.
Professor X: Just because someone stumbles and loses their way, doesn't mean they're lost forever. Captain Picard: It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life.
