    Very thorough comparison. Many differences apply to the X-T3 as well. The future belongs to the faster X-Processor 5 cameras, although the X-Trans 4 cameras are still awesome and viable, just not the best.

    Great breakdown. I feel like it’s a compromise for me either way. I want the flip screen and lower res sensor of the 4, but the smaller size and lighter weight of the 5. The 4 will be the sensible choice for me, but coming from the Xpro 3 I worry it’ll feel clunky, might try renting one

    I'm looking hard at the X-T4 for several reasons. I have large hands, so I prefer the larger body. I prefer using the EVF and love the LCD on the X-T4 because it flips completely out of the way, which it does not on the X-T5. They are both made in China (boo Fuji, boo 😞) but the X-T4 feels better built in the hand. Totally agree, AF is entirely dependent on the lens you use.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I think that xt5 is great for anyone who wants one of course but I get what you’re saying. It is more of a direct upgrade from the 2 or 3 than the 4. But also the 4 is a very different camera than the 5 in form and function so that’s important too. Plus the af in the 5 is a big improvement too.

      Af is the biggest drawback of the XT4. The 5 is a significant improvement but Fuji still has a way to go to match Sony and Canon in the video af department. If you tweak the settings you can get much better results than the standard out of the box setup. It just takes a little experimentation.

      @@GregTardif Yep but don't give up on the af just yet. Play with the AF C custom settings and see if you can make it work better. I'm patiently waiting for Fuji to update the interface. Hey Pete, came back to watch this again. I've been thinking about what/when I will go for a newer body as an upgrade for my X-T3 from time to time. The only reason is that I've had it for 2 1/2 years now and want to do research when the time comes to start shopping. For a while based only upon cost I thought a good used X-T4 might be the best choice. But, I'm also thinking that most used X-T4 bodies have probably really been used. So, the research continues!! I am not sure why people keep missing this major difference between the X-T5 vs X-T4 and in my opinion is even better than the X-H2x line. That is the fact you have 7 custom settings for video, and further 7 controller settings for photography. This is not like on the X-T4 where the the parameters you can set are limited. They are for pretty much everything for both video and audio. I have just been to India and this made my who experience so much easier, especially flicking between video and audio settings. As a hybrid system as long as you set up your buttons correctly to switch between custom settings, this blows the PASM system of the X-H2 and X-H2S out of the water (especially as when you select them they are given your names settings).

    • @colinhoward2200
      @colinhoward2200 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually bought the camera for that feature alone - and is easily worth it for the uplift over an X-my previous X-T4. The 40M sensor is just a bonus TBH, I am not a pixel peeper. The 6.2K video is pretty awesome though.

    • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, although I personally don't need that many custom settings for the work I do. For some reason, the C settings don't remember everything you plug in to it, like exposure simulation for example.

I’m trying to decide between the XT5 and XH2 right now, and everyone says that the H2 is better for video… but given that they have the same sensor w/ small differences like better EVF, I think I’d rather save the $300. • @PeteCocoPhoto
      @PeteCocoPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are probably others who can answer this question better than me. But the practical answer is to look at the megapixels you want for stills, and then look at the video specs in the same camera to make sure they match your needs. For vlogging you don't need anything higher than 4k video, but there are other factors that come into play as well (crop factors, frame rates, af speeds, etc). My advice is to look at the entire video specs and still specs to find the camera that matches your needs, and there are plenty of great Fujifilm options for this. Hope this helped!

      They won't do that because they have all those XT5s they need to sell haha. File side definitely matters, even when using good gear. If you are taking thousands of photos a week, that 2TB hard drive is filled up before you know it.

      @@PeteCocoPhoto I agree to a certain extent, I have a Nikon D850 with 100mb files … But over time, SSDs will get cheaper and eventually I think everything will be stored in the cloud. That’s probably a really good business opportunity for someone to develop the cloud and just pay a fee and you get unlimited storage. I think that’s the way of the future, but I don’t pay the argument that you shouldn’t buy a good camera because the file sizes. Just find a solution to storage. I’m excited about the Xt5 arriving tomorrow I think 🤔… I’m not actually 100% sure why I bought this camera that might sound odd look like such a fun camera to own so I have been using a X - s10 for about two months and I loved it so I think that this with a natural progression
      If you are taking thousands of photos a week you are clearly a working professional and I’m sure you seen got the money to find a storage solution. Grass people that have got Kids family and the mortgage. We are not taking Casper to photos of like we’re taking a couple of hundred. If you’re a full-time working professional, you need to factor that into your business plan when you’re setting up storage. But I enjoy your channel. I’m semi professional photographer…work one day a week as professional- mostly landscapes and product photography

      @@nevvanclarke9225 We agree more than we disagree here too. I definitely don't think the res should be the main reason NOT to buy a camera, but it is a consideration for many. Yes, I'm doing this for a living too and storage is such a huge pain. I keep buying hard drives LOL

      @@PeteCocoPhoto I went through all of my photos recently and deleted every single photo that had no meaning to me as well so I downscaled save a lot of space but yes it is a pain in the butt

      @@nevvanclarke9225 Yep that's a good idea but I know that I will never do that. It's just too much to go through hah. Plus I store client sessions in case they want to purchase images later on and I also like to save everything because sometimes I go back and pull something for a youtube vid depending on what I'm discussing.

    Coming from 40 years as a professional shooter. I am not afraid of tech, my first serious digital camera was the $25,000 Canon/Kodak DCS. I've owned and shot Toyo 4x5, Brontica, 21/4 Pentax, Pentax 2 1/4, Canon, Leica, Olympus, Lunix and now, my favorite all time favorite, Fuji. I loved their color slide film and I always souped my own and now I love working with their cameras. Like fishing with a bamboo rod or shifting own gears I find the user experience of external numbered knobs and and f--stops on my lenses a far superior to buttons and menus. Makes me sad to see Fuji joining the me too crowd. The market for professional camera is shrinking and the way to survive is differentiation not me too.

      I think they are attempting to appeal to their current shooters and branch out to new ones via the XH line. I would imagine that our analog dials will be here to stay for a long time.
