When did it become such a pain in the posterior to removeBT items ? It used to be so simple. Tried to unpair my Sony WH1000 headphones but I got the same as you did but eventually I did what you did and all was fine. Hopefully this video will help folk out and get them Bluetoothing with confidence again :) Thanks Mike and Kath.

Literally 3 days of trying everything on the internet to remove my stuck Bluetooth devices. I tried the Show Hidden trick, but I only removed the specific items that were stuck.
    That didn't work.
Removing them only worked once I removed ALL the BT list items, including the General Radio, Enumerator, etc. Everything. Until there were no BT devices left in the list.
Viola, the stuck devices were finally gone. Ding Dong the Wicket Witch is dead!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you...

I tried literally everything registry editing, going into control panel and disabling devices, using a windows powershell command to unpair all devices... Did what you suggested in this video and it WORKED!!!! One thing I did notice is I had to go into control panel > Hardware and Sounds > Then Devices and once in there they disappeared and when you go back into settings THEN it disappears.

thanks man, new to this built gaming desk top scene, had to buy myself a asus bluetooth adapter and when i tried connecting my air pods it connected to the actual built in blue tooth and that messed it up due to me having to restart the computer to have the blue tooth adapter i bought go into effect. ur method worked and the air pods are now connected to the intended blue tooth source and that is my asus adapter i just purchased, thanks man!

And that is why the telephone connector (audio/media/headphone/auxiliary/AUX jack and plug) must remain. That way, at least, we'll always be able to use headphones/earphones/headsets/earbuds and other devices supporting that type of connection. Each operating system has struggled with, at least, one peripheral at the moment of pairing/removing/connecting. Which are the guilty ones? The OSs? The peripherals? All of them? The latest version of Bluetooth is 5.3, AFAIK. I'd prefer them to fix the current bugs/glitches instead of adding more and more features.

I did everything you did and it did not work for me. When I clicked the button "Scan for hardware changes", everything including all devices and the problematic device came back on the list on device manager.. I go to reconnect the device, add it or remove it and it doesn't want to do anything. It doesn't even come up when I go to scan for it.
It is an xbox controller that I had connected to my computer just fine for a long time, as soon as my soupse added it to their computer and used it for gaming, I can no longer add or remove it from my computer.
    Frustrating..

Hi. I followed all the instructions in this video but nothing fixed my problem. I have a PS4 controller which, all of a sudden, can no longer get connected to my laptop. Whenever I turn my bluetooth on in both my laptop and the controller, bluetooth would automatically say "Connected (1)" but my controller would still continue to blink (meaning it's not yet connected to any device) and it also doesn't appear in the paired devices in the bluetooth setting. I tried plugging it in just so it would appear in the control panel and uninstall it--hoping it would also get removed in my bluetooth, but after successfully uninstalling it while it's plugged, the problem with the bluetooth still persists. So yes, I can still use my controller if I plug it in but I just can't leave this issue be. I hope you could notice this and solve my problem. Thank you very much.
