How to remove stubborn Bluetooth devices from any Windows 10 install after getting the Remove Failed error.
First remove the device physically from the PC or from the local area if still nearby and powered on.
Then go to device manager by right clicking on the start button and choosing device manager.
Expand the bluetooth device sub category.
Next go to view at the top and choose view hidden devices.
Now select or highlight the devices you want to remove and press the red cross and then choose to remove or uninstall the device.
Repeat this process until all the devices you wish to remove are gone.
Now close any open windows or programs and shutdown your PC.
On restarting your devices should be gone. If not open up the registry editor to do some final touches.
Save the entire registry or backup BEFORE you start this process!
Press F2 to open the Find dialogue box Type in the name of the device you want to remove. Delete the relevant keys and repeat this process. Press F3 to find the next available key.
When finished exit regedit and reboot again.
Your problem devices will now be fully removed.

ONE SIDE NOTE!!! when you go to device manager if you need to remove blue tooth headphones or speakers, YOU MAY ALSO NEED TO uninstall the device driver from the SOUND, VIDEO & GAME CONTROLLER section!!!!!

I tried deleting registry keys and uninstalling problem devices from Device Manager but the devices wouldn't disappear until I also uninstalled some items that looked like drivers for bluetooth radios I'd physically removed from the system. For some reason that also got rid of the problem devices.

This video definitely led me in the right direction. I had installed a new Bluetooth m.2 adapter to my rig and finding the old Bluetooth adapter drivers and uninstalling them fixed the problem. Thank you.

Thanks mate, i followed your advice as i was already in device manager but didn't realise their was a hidden tab.
For anyone still unable to remove the device even after removing it within the hidden tab make sure you uninstall any generic Bluetooth driver's if you're using and external Bluetooth USB, the cache seems to cross over into the disabled internal Bluetooth.

This comment should be right at the very top. Used to have integrated BT in my old Mobo, upgraded and got a none WiFi board with a USB. Sat for hours driving myself crazy..but this solution did it!

THANK YOU!!!!!!! I almost sent back my Sony WH1000XM3 bluetooth headphones because they weren't pairing, or when they did, the sound was very choppy. I also noticed multiple devices on the pc with the headset name, but not in the audio section. After I followed your advice, I was able to remove the duplicates and the pc was able to connect to the headset.

This advice works! I would however like this video more if it was shorter, and if it had subtitles or overlay texts, because the chances are - we are watching it without sound working because the bluetooth issue is a lot likely to be with our audio device.

I tried everything suggested on the internet like turning on airplane mode, restarting in safe mode, restarting bluetooth services, etc. Nothing worked except for this solution! Thank you!

This seems to have solved a related problem for me: Bluetooth speakers shown as paired but unable to connect, and when they did show as connected in the settings page, they were still shown as unconnected in the sounds control panel, and attempting to connecting them from the sounds control panel did nothing, The solution was simply to uninstall all of the hidden instances of these Bluetooth speakers in the device manager

Very helpful, all my devices were stuck on the list because I did not remove them before upgrading to AX200 card.
Next question, My desktop shows BT battery levels but my laptop does not. Both are running AX200 wifi/BT cards. How do I fix this?

you can try removing all the bluetooth entries in device manager, or sometimes is is easier and quicker to buy a cheapo USB bluetooth adapter and try that
