    Hi Travis, you are privileged to be able to use a 22lr at your doorstep. Here in Portugal it is only possible in shooting clubs, CCI Subsonic Hollow Points grouped well, good Sunday.

      In canada it aint much easyer sadly...unless you have enough land to hide a mile from everybody and I bet if you shoot all day you still are going to piss someone off on your own land

    Great shooting buddy. My marlin 60 don't like ejecting those sub sonics some times. Hunter uses them to dispatch his critters on his trapline they work great for that cause they don't bleed out as bad when shot with those for some reason. I guess less shock or something

    THIS is the reason I want to live on some 10 acres or so. Just to go out and shoot my 22s. Anything more would be a blessing.
    Just how much land is needed to do this comfortably?

    • @ohshoot444
      @ohshoot444  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends on the neighborhood. Where I shoot a lot, it’s a small lot. But, only airguns. I’d say if you had 5 acres in the sticks you wouldn’t bother anyone shooting. Maybe less than that. If you lived in the city you’d have a bunch of people crying every time you shot. I do normally wait until the weekend to shoot the big stuff though. Everyone around me shoots on the weekends too.

    1:33 man thats exactly what i want to see, i agree at 30 yd is the perfect range. I saw a quiet cci hp 1100 Fps this one could possibly tighten up the drop so i will see if it works better then the 900fps. Thnks so much fo this clip man.

  • @Matzah1982

    Pretty impressive muzzle energy. With a the most potent .22 short rounds it’s only about 40 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle. My new Hatsan 135 QE vortex .25 air rifle is shooting the 22 grain hornets at about 29 or 30 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle and 30 yards is the best maximum distance and at 30 the pellet still has about 21 or 22 foot pounds of energy so it’s a great squirrel and rabbit gun aswell as coon and possum and groundhog but with your 90 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle I can only imagine what it must do to fox squirrels at 30 yards. It’s like 3 times the energy as my new gun

    • @ohshoot444
      @ohshoot444  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wait until I get my .17 Remington out this year.

    • @Matzah1982
      @Matzah1982 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The .17 is the tiniest cartridge but it makes up for it’s small diameter and light weight with it’s high velocity which gives it about 60 foot pounds of energy so it’s twice as powerful as my new air gun and a third more powerful than the hottest .22 short cartridge

    • @ohshoot444
      @ohshoot444  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A .17 Remington centerfire is a 30 grain bullet going 4000 feet per second. It’s pretty nuts.

    • @ohshoot444
      @ohshoot444  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s actually more like a 204 ruger 👆. I just googled .17 Remington and it said 20 grain going 4400 fps. Almost 900 fpe.

    • @Matzah1982
      @Matzah1982 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought it was only going 2000 fps and weighed 17 grains but I was wrong. At 20 grains and going 4400 fps I’m not surprised that it’s putting out 900 fpe. My hornets are only 2 grains heavier but .250 diameter instead of .177 but are only going about 770 fps from my gun hence only 29 or 30 fpe. Makes a bigger entry hole but don’t deposit nearly as much energy or penetrate nearly as much. It has more in common ballistically with the hotter .22 short rounds

  • @tommykawasaki9676
    @tommykawasaki9676 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You are grouping nicely & good shooting !
    You may use your rest, any way you like, it’s your rest & perhaps there is something I don’t see or understand, but I would screw the feet out much further & screw the center post in much further & snug it all up before firing. I seen you were wobbly.
    Try to keep the center post low as possible & use the feet for the elevation. Do slight adjustments with the center post outer ring. It’s a nice little rest & should serve you real well !
    Happy shooting.

    The last one was pretty good !
    I wonder what kind of group I would do as a first timer 😬 .22s look fairly easy to shoot tho!
    Looks like the squirrels dont stand much chance!
    Do you clean you pews after each time you shoot ? This would make the first shot a flyer again ?

    • @ohshoot444
      @ohshoot444  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      22s are way easier than springers. They do like a different grip. Heavy recoil centerfire is tough if the trigger is super heavy.

    How do u mount the scope when the rail is too skinny like in the 880

    • @rob6850
      @rob6850 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I got a dovetail to picatinny adapter, for my Marlin 60. Also works for my Daisy 880. The rail completely blocks the iron sights though, so you have to take it completely off if you wanted to use them. I think I found it on Amazon.

    • @LowkeyAirgunner
      @LowkeyAirgunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am assuming you are trying to use picattinny mounts on a dovetail rail?
      You would need another set of scope mounts
      ings !
      Carefull to choose the right tube size if you do get some
      (If not sorry I dont own a 880 sadly)

    • @ohshoot444
      @ohshoot444  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks guys. There’s different sizes of scope rails. Airgun and Rimfire use 3/8” or 11mm and larger rifles use weaver or Picatinny. Weaver is slightly smaller and not really designed for heavy loads. Picatinny is wider and designed for the mount bolt to touch the rail when clamped. Quick google search will point you in the right direction. I didn’t know that either until a few years ago.

  • @ftcentrepreneur
    @ftcentrepreneur ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When the game is within 15 yards, you're shooting low because of the offset of the barrel to the scope. Best thing to do is get some dope (data on previous engagements) and know it.

    I can't get these to group worth a crap. All over a paper plate. Yet standard velocity, I can get a 25 round mag in one hole. Doesn't make sense to me... they're so close to each other in design, yet such a difference.

    So you recommend them? I'd like to try a hollow that isn't copper. Be great if Thunderbolts were made in hollowpoint too. Been only firing SV by CCI all summer. Should look for them Federal 800pk box for the Shaw barrel. I tried them Quiet but shot way way to low, even at close range. Maybe I'll try them, they seem to do great but that's out of a Shaw.
