- CZ457 LRP - Eley Subsonic Hollow - 50 yard ammo test
In this video I will test Eley Subsonic Hollow , 22 long rifle rimfire ammunition to see how well this ammo performs in my CZ 457 LRP. I have installed a flat blade Timney CZ 457 precision Trigger.
The test will be compressed of 40 shots in total all fired from the prone at 50 yards. I will be recording shot data including (SD, ES, Highest, and lowest velocities, as well as the average velocity) of the ammunition tested. every test begins with 20 fouling shots from a clean barrel bore, followed by 4 - 5 shot groups

Just got 2 boxes of this as I was unable to my fav being RWS h/p subsonic . Sighted in and it went well in my CZ452 and was considerably quieter than the RWS which I thought was good, Feb well and something that could become the go to hunting round if it kills well. Seemed for a hunting round it performed well and it figures were nothing to sneeze at either. Thanks as always.

I found the Eley the most accurate that I tried in my Sako Quad with sound moderator.
I shot Eley Pistol Match the other day through my LRP .
I was amazed at how well it did at 100 yards. No wind.

Thanks for testing the various ammo brands; great videos! I would love to see the first shot from a cold barrel after you performed the range test. You mentioned this ammo for hunting so how do you ensure a first round hit from a cold barrel? Thanks again for your work.

Thats about the same results as i experienced out of my LRP. was my go to ammo for rabbit control here in uk. but when they changed to the 38gr white box it all went pear shaped for my rifles at least. Great content as usual thanks for videos.

Looks like Florida Bro. It's hot as balls here now. That accuracy is fine for the intended use of that ammo. Move to twenty yards and shoot it offhand in a sling. Group will be about the same..😊

Nice shooting mate just done a load of hollow point ammo testing for my rifle nothing really stood out all pretty much around 1/2 in at 50 meters settled on cci only because for some reason it shared same zero as my match ammo

Eley Subsonic has basically same velocity as Eley Tenex.
i've found i get no better accuracy with my rifles using CCI SV vs Eley Sub, maybe worse. very inconsistent in my experience. thanks for the vid! cheers... Eley club, eley contact and sk rifle match are my go to.. can't afford 25-30$ a box premium ammo ;)

I made a bunch myself. Went out and bought a sewing machine and learned how to sew and started making some.
The other thing you could look at is trying to find a Neal Waltz die. This is a "reloading" die that will help you reshape the lead of a 22. Has honestly improved groupings with some of the cheaper ammo. You are able to choose between any depth hollow point, as well as the eley eps tip

@@BROTUNED yup. The kit will come with a shell holder so there is no worries about setting the 22lr off.

How long is your barrel those are going close to the speed of sound. If you shooting suppressor you might get a crack from time to time

Won't the magneto on the barrel affect the harmonics and thus the group sizes ?
I cut the magnetospeed off and made a mount that bolts to the arca rail and leaves the barrel untouched that way there would be no harmonic affect
My rifle shoot most budget ammo good but for some reason the Eley subsonic is spraying like a shotgun.
Is your barrel completely free floating? Nothing should be touching it. Please read my other comments on your other videos. You may want to try a full size shooting rest to eliminate some variables when testing rounds.
Are you talking about something like what Eli at day at the range uses?
@@BROTUNED something like a Caldwell lead sled but maybe a cheaper version first to see if you like it. I use mine when I test a bunch of different loads or a brand new rifle. Any other time I'm using a bipod and sand filled wedge shaped rear bag. Please try one thing that works great me don't use a firm cheek weld as a matter of fact only lightly let your face touch the stock. Then u can relax your whole upper body. As long as you center your eye in your scope all the time. Try very light pressure on everything what you have to lose is small compared to what you can gain. The other thing that gave me great improvement was to squeeze the trigger at the same rate and tempo every time and not worry if my crosshair was not dead on. I know doing that has made many people shoot tight groups. Being still and calm from when the trigger breaks to when the bullet leaves the barrel is important to. Look I can go on but I think if you just try a couple things you may get better faster I know I did.

I expected better from Eley. I shoot Eley Target that I run through a Waltz die. It performs much better than this ammo does.

Hey bro ever time I say something like this on utube someone encinuwaits that I'm not telling the truth. I know what you mean by shooting center x and sk I can shoot 1/4 or better at 50yrds so when they say these things I just tell them to go get themselves a cz457 with target barrel and chamber. We know though don't we brother?

Definitely do they are a very great rifle that I’d say keeps up with rifles double their price. I’m sure rifles like cyclops joes rimx will shoot circles around mine but it’s also 3x the price. Don’t get me wrong I’d love to own a desert precision rim x but there is no way I could justify buying one at this time. Like I could buy Lamborghini but not sure I could live in it if you know what I’m saying. Cheers I love my CZ457LRP

Just the wait for one of those rimx is more than I want to do I have three cz457s and I can't shoot them all the time and that voodoo has a lot of problems besides that the cz usually beats them when shot against each other I'll just take the cz. Nope I won’t be spending more of my hard earned money on this ammo again. I have a few more boxes I need to test the ibi barrel and possibly other rimfires of mine

I’m breaking them on Center of course every is not perfect but my rifle is not liking this ammo

Tenex and lapua Center x are one hole 5 shot groups from this rifle so it’s just the ammo. Cci sv shoots better than this stuff most of the time.
