I'm Mike this is my wife's account. I have used it and found that before you apply last coat get a 2,500 grit or 3,000 grit sandpaper and lightly sand it making it smooth as silk. After that apply your last coat and you will not have to do so anymore it will come out nice and smooth like factory. Much smoother once I sanded down before it was a rough texture I recommend it highly recommend it

@@Matthewrandoneif you prep your surface properly and do light layers, the duplicolor should hold up pretty good, especially being a dash. I would recommend hand painting any kick panels or any other areas that see heavy use with flat black latex paint and a fine brush due to the thicker nature of hand painting. That’s just me.

One guy made a video doing a red door panel. And I looked @ his comments and it said to put an adhesive promoter before applying the paint on the interior. It will create a better grab for the paint. Figured I’d share that.

Do it! The I my thing I would recommend is using an adhesion promoter primer, and also painting any plastic parts with a different paint. For example krylon fusion, which adheres great to all plastics.
I would suggest you use the duplicolor adhesion primer. There are some spots were I scratched it with my keys or my pocket knife and it took off the paint.

Go for it man, it’s not as scary as it looks. I would say go and buy a panel from the junkyard try it and that and if you like it do your truck and if not, forget it. But remember, use adhesion promoter primer and it’s only for fabric or vinyl, I used a different paint for plastic parts

@@Sip28 Krylon does not, it claims to not need primer and to have great adhesion though. It also depends on how you prep the surface, and what primer your using underneath, it may be the actual primer is not sticking.
I made a video on the update. You can check it out I just uploaded it. It did have a heavy smell for a couple days. I left it with the windows down for a couple nights. After about a week it goes away.

I picked up a couple door panels new from Coverlay. Pretty happy with them. I am thinking about painting the trim as you did. My test pieces came out great but wonder how it lasts. How did they hold up? For those that plan to do this fyi there is flat and gloss so get the right can based on what your looking for.
Yes, people need to know there is gloss and for. It last great, but I had to retouch areas like the armrest. I found it it works best using adhesion promoter primer.
I haven’t personally tried it on fabric of my own, but I have a buddy who painted their seats, and you can’t tell it was painted. I would try it on small piece first and let it dry for a few days and see if you like it.

It was never sticky at all, I did have a smell of paint for about a week, but then it went away. I also had to retouch some spots after a year. I made and update video as well.
I scuffed and preped my door with the wax and grease remover and when i was spraying it with the flat black it started looking like ashy on some parts do know why did you have this same problem
I did not have this problem. But I also used adhesion promoter primer. Also remember this is just for Vinyl and fabric. All the plastic parts o did with plastic paint.
Sold the truck after 2 years of doing this, high used areas like door handles or shoulder rest on door will began to fade, but nothing a quick touch up can’t fix.

Lol, to be honest it all depends on your prep work and the method you use to paint. I would recommend looking at another paint if the trim and dash are plastic I had to re do mine. But as for fabric and vinyl this stuff is awesome, just remember key is prep work and also use some adhesion promoter primer, works.
Andrew Harris Good, so far it’s held up. The only thing I would advice is careful with objects in or around you. I like to carry a knife and I already scratched it, other than that it’s help up good so far.
No, it doesn’t “peel off”. If you lie trying to do this I would recommending peeping the surfaces, scuff it, add adhesion primer then paint it. It will last. Mine still looks good.

mimi jada from what I could tell by the can he used matte. I’ve used the duplicolor matte charcoal before and it left my door panels with a weird texture. Not sure if I did it right or not but yeah. Still a great paint and am in the process of doing my whole interior like he is doing. The matte black is more of a semi-gloss on some pieces
Eaven Bazor it’s possible you had the wrong angle or applied to much on a coat or two that would have given you a textured feel. Something like an orange peel perhaps?
I used flat black, I don’t think they carry the vinyl and fabric in matte. I thought about gloss but wanted an original look to it so went with the flat, plus I didn’t want anything shiny on the dash which I also painted.
This is Mike and this is my wife's account but you can use clear coat with non-gloss it is a protective coat just like I semi-gloss clear coat you just cannot tell then it will not leave a shine
nova2nutt it’s held up quite nicely, I do recommend you actually prep the surface and also use adhesion promoter primer. I will hold up much nicer, and for plastic parts use plastic paint, only used this product for fabric or vinyl.
ICS Ivan from my understanding you want to put some clear over it to protect from the scratching...if not your gonna have to keep a can to touch up everywhere you scratch up

Hey ivan so i was told the same as well, put clear coat on it. The only clear coat i saw was the 1 that comes with the black chrome. Dupicolor package for wheels.

Duplicolor works too good. So good I decided to do my entire new interior with it. I went from gray to black in a day.

It’s called dead mariachi lol, honestly as long as it’s in fabric or vinyl the duplicolor works good. But I had to re do all plastic parts.

I personally didn’t want any gloss, especially when doing my dash, prevent any glare that can blind me.

hey i got a question. Is there any issue of the inside smelling like paint phumes afterwards? like especially if it gets hot and the sun beats on it.
It will smell for about 2 days, but it will go away after that. No, it doesn’t smell at all after that, not even with the sun hitting it.

This paint is designed for this. It feels like original. You will have a smell for a couple days though.
So with it being a “fabric” paint as well as vinyl. Will this adhere and feel well on seats?

Giannis Giovani How long did you let it dry, and how many coats? It’s a good paint but it’s not scratch proof unfortunately.
ICS Ivan from my understanding you want to put some clear over it to protect from the scratching...if not your gonna have to keep a can to touch up everywhere you scratch up
SuperDJBIGWILL Did not know that, on their website it says it’s a stand alone product, nothing else needed. Is there a clear you recommend to go over the vinyl and fabric paint?
Hey ivan so i was told the same as well, put clear coat on it. The only clear coat i saw was the 1 that comes with the black chrome. Dupicolor package for wheels.

How long did it take to dry ?
Antoine Lewis I let it dry for a 24 hours. Baking in the the sun.

Antoine Lewis it was about 3 coats. Took me 3 cans to do doors, sun visors and trim. Need to do the dash.
after you were done painting does it have a weird feel to the touch?
Not at all, it feels the same not sticky or anything different.
What about the smell?
I have a 1 year update video. The smell lasted about a week, after that nothing.
