It's mainly (from my own experience) because they think they own you.
Also, if you were a main supply they might give you a evil/dirty look because they generally don't like you conversing with other people as they truly believe that they should always be a priority in your life over anything and others.

I think I can count on 1 finger the number of times I’ve seen my mom show genuine compassion toward me. It was so weird. My narcissistic dad was yelling at me, and she actually looked genuinely moved by my pain, just for a moment or two. The sad thing is that it confused me. I just observed her, feeling detached and slightly hopeful. Of course, she returned to playing the victim and putting me down a few minutes later.
Believe it or not before I even knew anything about covert narcissism I had a very brief and shallow association with one. We often communicated by phone. I always felt him listening to me unlike with anyone I've ever spoken with before. It felt eerie to me. I think my gut was speaking to me. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

I had a short situation with a covert narcissist. She would answer the phone anytime I called and I would talk for hours and she would listen silently, never really said much. I think she was trying to study me so she can manipulate better?? She made it feel as if it was OK to vent to her. But like I said I think it was just to be able to abuse me better.

My covert narcissistic husband was charged with domestic abuse 10 months ago after a neighbour reported me in distress. He's pleaded ‘not guilty’ and now it’s going to trial in August. The worst of all is he's convinced my adult daughters I have lied. He's only been their stepfather for 5 years, but somehow he’s managed to brainwash and manipulate them. I'm utterly heartbroken, but will stick by my truth..

No. 5 really rang true for me. Something I find unnerving is the covert narcissist I've been 'no contact' with for over a year now still watches me by asking people we know in common about me and somehow seems to know my achievements even though my social media is all set to private. Is this obsessive watching just a part of their psyche?
My experience exactly . They never truly stop .
In my case 25 years passed , no contact .
One random day , she shows up at our door , fake tears in eyes and basically pushed her way in the front door . Very uncomfortable.
We thought something dire had happened . No . Just more drama and fact finding mission .

For the past 17 years, every cell phone and email I have used has been illegally hacked and bugged. My previous duplex owner found a hole drilled in my roof right above my bedroom ceiling fan, as did the bedroom ceiling of my male neighbor that I had been seeing. I even bought one of those hand held bug detector devices. There needs to be stronger rules on cyber bugging and hacking and illegal video taping. Narcissistic behavior is becoming more common. People only respond to lawsuits and fear of losing money and

Your information is perfect and describes their behavior with amazing clarity. They are the ruination of society and of those they come in contact with. I always wonder what causes people to be like this. I don't buy the theory that they experienced a shameful episode in childhood. I think it's more along the lines of permissive parenting and these people were never truly held accountable for their horrible behavior. And they lie so convincingly. But you save people from committing suicide or drinking themselves to death. Narcissists kill by one cruel act after another. Where we might have given up and just slowly killed ourselves with drugs, alcohol, or food, you provide us with weapons, knowledge, and support so that we can continue on. We need to send you Christmas cards because you are more important that our horrible families. Thank you so much! 🥰

It’s creepy to say the least … also the number one thing that throws off a Covert Narc is : Ta Da … always do something out of the norm to them ! Like show up to something that they think for sure you would never go to . Done it - they go crazy ! Another one - if they are to meet up with you for a visit & they are running late ( like a true covert ) LEAVE before they get there. Omg - you really set the tone with this one.
Yep 👍 he was notorious for being late, making me wait on him endlessly, but he couldn’t be left waiting, and he wanted me to drop everything for him every second of the day. If I needed him urgently, he would say it’s not okay to just expect him to drop everything without planning it in advance.

My covert narcissist sister always made sure she did housework when my mother was around. This had a double benefit: not only was she caught doing the right thing but this way my mother would always assume that all work done when she was not watching was also done by my sister even the work I had done!

2019 I got a PPO on him he’s not supposed to ride by my house it’s been four years. He’s now riding by my house. I guess he feels like the PPO has been lifted and it probably has. There’s no stopping these crazy people just keep avoiding never speak to them. I won’t even look at him.
Get video of this, give to Court. Update your paper, or he's violated current one. Either way, no ignoring, 4 years later?! Gotta face it, he is stalking you Still.

I definitely hate the watching one, feel under intense surveillence, of the unfriendly kind. But the social one was the biggest one for me, when I become a teenager I become very self-conscious around people, just about that time it seemed like everyone I knew was pressuring me to be more social, for some reason I couldn't understand it wasn't like I was socially graceful or anything, knew what to do or even wanted to be there, and I did cling to familiar faces the ones who brought me there, then there was a lot of guilt I felt at my social anxiety, but as soon as I broke free from my socializing family I become a hermit. Now I'm studying narcissism and trying to review my life,s experiences from this new lense instead of the old guilt lense.

I was “attacked” after 4 years in the workplace by a medical professional who had a freaky obsession with me and admitted she wanted what I have ie a family! I work around those type of narcissist, they always watch me, Sigma woman,giving great energy and good vibes honest answer people come to me smiling talking happy time but when you look at them they always looking and talking about me leaving by myself but it’s fine with I know myself they can’t stand me most of the times but they love me to be around for that energy they suck me dry.just creepy people then they lash out talking down you smh I can’t make this stuff up.i just run to down time away fast .

My Narc always wants me to “be honest”… and when I feel comfortable and vulnerable I open my i hershy mouth and give her info and she weaponizes everything I say. Like living with a venomous snake…. My Narc is charming. My life is over… she has the world wrapped around her finger. If I ever had to leave just because I was unhappy she would drag me through the mud…. Id rather not be alive…. I have good real life example of the watching part of this video.
At work, things are in transition. There is a lot of down time, etc. We all listen to music at work.
I had a lady friend with whom things did not work out. I was relieved when she told me that she fell in love with another man. Good for her, I wish them both nothing but the best.
I played a song by Rosie Langley called "It ain't me babe" at work and told the backstory as to why I like the song. It was a very informal, small town work setting.
A few days later, a narc I worked with played his own music-- loud. Loud enough that no matter where in the warehouse, which doors I closed so I could read a book, I could still hear the music. I tried every way to find quiet. Nothing doing.
I also got an unwanted interpretive dance show from him while eating lunch. He played songs that I never heard, but one stood out to me. It is called "I can love myself better than anyone else can" or something like that.
I do not care about the song and found the show to be bemusing.
I then told him that I was going to read, so would he please turn the music down a little. I tried to close doors, go outside, etc. Still loud music.
So I got my ear buds out and listened to white noise to block the music out.
It worked. Happy day.
I apologized to him for getting after him for the music and told him that the white noise helped fix things. So no harm, no foul.
He played the victim. He told another person that he was "Sick and tired of bending over backwards" for me and that he was going to talk to management about it. It went nowhere as far as I can tell.
He is still mad at me. A few days after that incident, I was quietly reading my book in a group of co workers. He walked behind me and whispered "You are a homosexual" as he passed behind me. He knew my views on religion and morals. He knew it was false and that it would offend me.
It astounds me how these narcs seem to be completely and utterly devoid of a conscience. Yet they act like wonderful people. It is scary stuff.

I unfriended her and her family with anyone who was a direct connection to her then I switched all of my social media accounts to private.
I do have a daughter with my ex and she seems to be using her to act like a good mother, even those she never spends time with her.
And she LOVES playing victim 😂.

Fakers I wondered how we were “so much alike” I said it’s Erie, how much we all like now I know why, lol this is sick truely especially when you have a true narc in your life and You can see all of this. We literally came back from a love bombing trip, which turned out to be a disaster because I’m on high alert for this narcissism and I am an empath, but driving home I caught him looking at me out of the side of his eyes as I was turning to check my blind spot it is creepy as hell and his eyes cut to the side hard it looked unnatural and demonic.

I was marked. One for 25 years and had children with them. It is unnerving to know that I cannot even have regular conversations with my children because of him. They (the children) can be and are used as flying monkeys whether they know it or not.

Mine told me he was in a metal band in the past because he knew I was into music. We talked about bands we liked for weeks sharing with each other. Later during a devaluation phase he casually commented he really didn’t even listen to music that much. Then proceeds to tell me the “metal band” was in 8th grade and in a Christian high school. She used to respect what I said and my decisions when we would talk things out. More and more she started listening to her dad.
He would tell her you two have nothing in common, you cannot base your whole relationship on sex. When she told him she was pregnant he got quite and did not say anything... I walked away.

You block them and you know they can't access your social media because the flying monkeys are sending friend requests. The worst part for me was having to cut mutual acquaintances out because the narc was seemingly very convincing. They don't get it at all, but to me it's blatantly manipulative and passive aggressive nonsense. Extremely aggressive, like you know it will never stop until I submit, which I will not do.
There ought to be a legal case...not a partner though, just a casual acquaintance.

Same here. any activity I do online no matter how irrelevant and benign to anything get dragged into their legal documents to try and make a false claim of any sort they can. Even my friend's online activity shows up in their garbage litigation paperwork at times as if it is supposed to paint a negative picture of who I am or who I know.
Change phones & new phone number. Or ignore it and don’t be afraid. You are vulnerable if you have fear. Overcome the fear & intimidation if you can, and don’t react. Don’t act afraid, nervous, or bothered by it.
