Scott nailed it regarding Poilievre's aggressiveness, It's working now because no one likes Trudeau and they don't care if the media gets ruffed up, however when he's Prime Minister it's going to get annoying, and worst if it's directed at a group that is sympathetic it's going to actively hurt him. As a Conservative I hope he clams down a bit in office.

Couldn't agree more. That attitude utterly exhausting. I understand he's opposition leader, but tone it down about 30% because the sky isn't falling over everything he gets worked up about. If/when he's PM I imagine he either:
      1. Becomes like every other PM (including Trudeau) and he tries to explain problems away as too complex for us simpletons to understand.. or it's the last guys fault. Which would honestly make him more palatable.
      2. Continues to be just as abrasive and he hopefully only lasts one term because he does nothing but attack anything he deems a threat.
I'm already exhausted and he's only been the leader for what, 1-2 years? I long for the day Poilievre, Trudeau and Singh are all introduced as "the former". Though who knows who their successors will be.

PP is honest and direct and I applaud it after 9 years of of blah, blah blah… no answers and never held to account. Pierre isn’t even PM yet and the legacy media are already questioning everything he does or doesn’t say! Except for Vassey CTV, Trudeau has had a free ride.

@@maxinearmstrong9566 I have to disagree with that. Poilievre is not honest, he's already proven he will shamelessly tell bold faced lies to the media, to Parliament and to anyone else who will listen.
He's pandering hard to a coalition of voters that will become unstable after he's elected, as Scott mentions. He's making grievance politics his path to victory and the problem arises that you can't hold a grievance against the "elites" when you're the PM.
Is he taking a different approach than most politicians? Sure, but he's not the first to try the abrasive approach. And he's not some lone wolf crusader out there for the little guy. He's been an MP for 20 years, he's part of the Laurentian Elite he lambasts.

I don’t understand how Jordan can keep doing all of this projection around the NDP. I disagree with Scott and David a lot at times but at least they’re living in the reality of the situation pertaining their party. The NDP is in shambles and I find it amusing hearing how hard she has to try and spin for Singh.

PP will have a big job dismantling the Trudeau legacy, legislation and policies, and the NGO's placed throught ministries and departments.

Gotta love Jordan’s Charlie Angus spin. All of those NDP MPs are leaving because they see the writing on the wall. I am going to become the pope before Jagmeet wins them any rural seats, or an election for that matter.

A lot of Saskatchewanians are still upset about the provincial NDPs closing a bunch of schools and hospitals in order to balance the budget. The Sask Party hasn't suffered a similarly note worth misstep. What need to wait to be seen is if voter will realize that the Sask Party has tripled the provincial debt over their 17 years and haven't really done anything relevant. The teachers have been pushing for the Sask party to add class size and complexity into the budget they refuse. The Sask party basic campaigns on a strategy of we will do nothing and therefore do nothing wrong like the NDP did. The NDP on the other hand seem to just sit around and point out the Sask party's corruption and play they 'good guy' card. I think the NDP needs to come forward with a concrete plan to improve the province, fix the debt, and help affordability. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to do that without raises taxes which is a political no go in Sask. Honestly the average Sask. voter doesn't have much of a clue what is going on in the province and think more about federal politics than provincial. If Moe keeps his head down he is likely to win unless the NDP manage to stir the nest.

How thoughtful of you, David, to acknowledge Iona Campagnolo. I am as ignorant of her as Scott appears to be, having heard her name but with no understanding of who she was and what she accomplished. I've become interested in politics only since the covid bullshit debacle. Before that I took no interest. Pretty stupid, eh? I rely on this podcast to teach me. Thank you for providing that education for me. Women make up at least half the world and we so easily disappear without much to remind the world that we were even here.

What is a populist? Suddenly anger is acceptable. This is not assholeness. I'm angry. If I had no children I'd give less of a shit. Maybe you should ask old women like me why we will vote for Poilievre. It has more to do with hating Trudeau, for me.

I'm guessing that the Jewish constituents in his riding will be less offended by Poilievre's attack on Charlie Angus then Jordan was.
He has often flirted with anti-Israeli sentiments over the years, being smart enough most times to stay just slightly on the side of appropriateness. His comments and actions since the October 7th attacks have long since crossed that line. Playing footsies with people who are supportive of a genocidal death cult like Hamas.
As much as I want to see Trudeau badly defeated I also want to see the Liberal party of Canada reinvented and reinvigorated. Canada needs at least two parties that are strong and principled.
As far as the Federal NDP is concerned I would be quite content to see them blown off the electoral map. They seem to have zero interest in learning from their more practical cousins in provincial politics like in Manitoba. Their anti-Israeli, and I would argue sometimes antisemitic comments leave me with a feeling of loathing and revulsion.
The party of Tommy Douglas and Jack Layton is well and truly dead.

Sorry but there is a special sauce when it comes to social democracy and rural voters: drop the woke shit.
These downtown Toronto ‘progressive’ social justice stances ensure the NDP don’t even get a hearing.

Provincial elections are just as, if not more, important as federal.
