I want to congratulate TheGameDirect for a high value video about my favorite gaming series. The level of detail is exquisite even talking about devices and games I did not have an idea they existed. Very high production values, professional, funny. I can't wait to see the other videos. This is the kind of content the gaming community on TH-cam needs. Congrats and you have my subscription and likes!
Miyomoto sounds like a really awesome person :D He's made such an awesome impact on the world, and he actually cared about what he was doing :) We need more people like that.
I must say that before I watched this video, I wasnt so anticipated. I mean, I have allready seen four other people covering up the Zelda franchise (including IGN) and they have said enough about these games. So, what could possibly be new from your Retrospective? Take me as a fool, because just these 17 minutes, you've said more about these games than any other have ever said (including IGN). Big applause for this retrospective. There is no doubt that once you begin to research a game franchise, you truly do it to every bad article and good articles out there. Im looking forward for part 2.
Wow, I'll admit I wasn't expecting much when I read the title of this video, but I'm glad to say I was thoroughly surprised! I thought I was just going to get the same tired history that everyone goes through, but you taught me a thing or two that I had never known. You've definitely earned a subscription from me.
I am really glad this channel popped up in my news feed I am quickly becoming addicted now, it is time to marathon and watch all the videos I love how much detail and research is put into these videos so far one of my favorite channels easily. c:
I just discovered your videos randomly through the thumbnails. Just watched all your retrospectives in the last few hours and learned a whole lot of new stuff. You're an awesome video game history teacher. Glad I found out about your videos!
This is the first video I have seen from your channel and I quite like it. It seems well researched and it has a level of professionalism that you don't often see in smaller youtube channels. You have earned my subscription. That being said, I did have a few minor qualms that I think I should voice to help you grow as a youtuber. There are really only two points worth bringing up, and they're quite minor and relatively easy to fix, but can make a big difference in the level of polish your videos have. First is the voice over. You do pretty well, but you could use a bit of practice to make your reading sound more natural. While you enunciate well enough, you can tell that you are always aware that you are on camera when speaking. This will go away in time, I'm sure. If you look at the biggest youtubers out there, they all have this same problem in their earlier videos. Just keep working on it! The second thing I want to point out is your videos pacing. Some parts seem to drag on just a tad, and I think this is related also to your speaking speed as well as your editing. I'm not an editor, so I can't say exactly how to work on this, but I think you should still be aware of it. Certain parts of your video felt longer than it needed to be and it made it a bit difficult to sit through the whole thing as a result. I kept watching mostly for the well researched trivia. All said, I really enjoyed the video and I look forward to seeing more from you in the future! I'm going to check out one of your newest videos to see if you've made any improvements since the creation of this video.
Dear Nintendo, That original idea of player generated dungeons being shared with others would sell a lot of WiiU units. Please take advantage of the design options a tablet controller gives and online sharing. Also, make a WiiU model with a decent harddrive. -A fan
***** Exactly: downloaded games. The Wii was such a gigantic PITA with Wii Shop games b/c you constantly had to move them to an SD card. Meanwhile my 360 has over a dozen full games downloaded with plenty of space. No hassles = good.
When she said "Let's take a look into the mind of Shigeru Miyamoto" I was thinking: "You sure you wanna do that? I hear it is one of, if the, the scariest places in existence,"
Link, as with Mario, is left handed in most Zelda games due, in part, to the fact that Miyamoto himself is left handed. This kind of makes me wish for a Zelda II remake, even though I never really cared for "The Adventures of Link," but that was mainly because I sucked at it and died a lot. They could fix some issues and maybe even bring in some of Miyamoto's original intentions for the game.
This is fantastic, Great Job. My favorite Videogame series, ever (that and Advance Wars), I hope if you haven't already, you update this series with Breath of the Wild and whatever Nintendo comes up with to succeed Triforce Heroes in the 2D Zelda style.
what a great and interesting video, thank you for that! Thats passion! And i anted to say: Miyamoto is such an inspiring genius, i love him. And it is so wonderful that he still exists and makes games. Im really excited for the future of nintendo and especially the games
Another inversion on the Peter Pan parallels I noticed is that, whereas Peter invigorates Wendy's fascination for adventure, it's typically Zelda and her cause that propels Link to action.
Great as always, even a Zelda (deku) nut like me learned new things here. I'm very impressed with the quality of these videos and how fast/consistent they are made. Great job!
***** I've thought about all those you mentioned. Haven't decided on what to do next yet. Just focusing on Zelda right now. But I am reading everyone's requests!
Link did all that stuff in the original game when he was 10? And to think they said Child Link was incapable of stopping Ganon in OoT... At the very least he could've had one of those giant Gorons help him out.
Wow, I thought I was pretty well-versed in Zelda history, but quite a bit of this is new to me. Once again, you've enlightened me on some pointless video game history. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! Keep up the awesome work! ^_^
If you enjoyed the Halo and BioShock games, may you do a retrospective of them in the near future as both series have quite the amount of storytelling worth for your great retrospectives!
Really good. Best review I've seen in a long time, so much more interesting than reading Wikipedia articles. Please do something on Breath of the Wild as well, if you have the time.
CrimsonSpirit LOL, You obviously have no idea what you are talking about... Zelda 1 is absolutely perfect. If you had actually played the game, ever, you might know that.. stupid kid...
LOL @ 01:27 I can kind of envision this event: Nurse: Mr Miyamoto, I'm sorry, but you seem to have contracted some unknown illness and will have to be confined to your bed for the foreseeable future while we figure this out. I am so very sorry. Miyamoto: FUCK THE HELL YES!
Great video. I would love to see a history of Street Fighter. I think Ryu's "Hadouken" is the most famous screamed out word that just about every gamer recognizes. : )
I hope to hear about how ALttp was going to be an RPG in which you were going to use multiple heroes, or at least that was how Miyamoto vision it for the begining.
Hi. Guy from the 80's here. We **DID NOT** think those graphics were mind blowing. We were very aware that the graphics were basic due to hardware limitations of a dang ol' wrist watch. However everyone was firmly aware, as most console makers would relentlessly tell you back then, that graphics where going to be better in the future.
I want to congratulate TheGameDirect for a high value video about my favorite gaming series. The level of detail is exquisite even talking about devices and games I did not have an idea they existed. Thank you!
I'm a proud Zelda fan. :)
My dad has played it for the 25 years it has been out and I've played many titles of it in my 16 years too. :)
Crash, Spyro, Metroid, Smash Bros, Conker, Banjo Kazooie, Paper Mario and now Zelda.? Lots of memories recalled here and I love it! :D
Miyomoto sounds like a really awesome person :D He's made such an awesome impact on the world, and he actually cared about what he was doing :) We need more people like that.

Big applause for this retrospective. There is no doubt that once you begin to research a game franchise, you truly do it to every bad article and good articles out there. Im looking forward for part 2.
That means a lot, thank you.
Your videos are the perfect balance of great humor, and game history that does not drag on or become dull. Keep up the good work.
I can't get enough of your videos! The amount of history you share for each gaming franchise is mind blowing.
Thank you for this retrospective. You are an inspiration.
I've seen so many Zelda story of timeline or history of the game videos, but that one is just the Best! For real, thanks!
Really enjoy these videos. Very thorough yet never boring, and I love your enthusiasm for the subject. Keep it up!
I've watched this series like 10 times, and it never gets old.
You have earned yourself yet another subscriber. I really like these historical gaming videos, keep them coming!
Wow, I'll admit I wasn't expecting much when I read the title of this video, but I'm glad to say I was thoroughly surprised! I thought I was just going to get the same tired history that everyone goes through, but you taught me a thing or two that I had never known. You've definitely earned a subscription from me.
Thanks for explaining the timeline. There's been a lot of confusion about it from many people.
I am really glad this channel popped up in my news feed I am quickly becoming addicted now, it is time to marathon and watch all the videos I love how much detail and research is put into these videos so far one of my favorite channels easily. c:
Your videos are fantastic!! And your now retrospecting one of my most favorite amazingly amazing franchises!
So much detail. Subscribed. Please do more.
Great video! I learnt some really interesting things in particular about the card reader console. You've earnt a subscriber. Cant wait for part 2!!!
This is great. I really enjoyed this and look forward to the rest of the series.
As always, amazing video :). Can't wait for the next one
I just discovered your videos randomly through the thumbnails. Just watched all your retrospectives in the last few hours and learned a whole lot of new stuff. You're an awesome video game history teacher. Glad I found out about your videos!

Both your voice and subjects are awesome.
Keep the retrospective videos going!
Great video as always! Keep it up!
This must have took a lot of work to make! Great stuff!!
Another great video as always!
I'm so happy that I found this channel! I'm looking forward to watching all of your videos haha
You should really continue making videos because I like them a lot. You're subjects are interesting and I learn a lot. Thank you! ^^

Looks like someone at Nintendo heard myself and others clamoring for this kind of thing and decided Mario Maker would be the prototype. Hooray.
Man , the legend of zelda intro you made was awesome!! You made me want to buy the game!
Awesome stuff! Great detail! Looking forward to more!
OMG, i thought i was the only one that knew about the BB2's Zelda game.
Amazing retrospective!
I'm watching this series again while I wait for hopefully new videos to appear
Ikr, I hope they come back.
I'm still waiting for this channel to come back :(
Awesome video. Thanks for making these. I always learn something new!
i fell that zelda 2 is combination of final fantasy and castlevania
Quite a journey you have ahead in order to speak about every single game, but you can do it! Good luck! Keep up the good work ;)
Thank you!
As always a great video!! A lot of info and very entertaining... congrats keep up the good work... you a very big fan in venezuela
When she said "Let's take a look into the mind of Shigeru Miyamoto" I was thinking: "You sure you wanna do that? I hear it is one of, if the, the scariest places in existence,"
I love this series so much, and even then I still didn't know about the LCD Zelda games.
NOW I MUST RESEARCH ALL THE THINGS.
*ALL THE THINGS*
YES, been looking forward to this! :D :D
Link, as with Mario, is left handed in most Zelda games due, in part, to the fact that Miyamoto himself is left handed.

I still remember when this was first released, really miss your videos
you have a very cute voice and awesome content!
This is fantastic, Great Job. My favorite Videogame series, ever (that and Advance Wars), I hope if you haven't already, you update this series with Breath of the Wild and whatever Nintendo comes up with to succeed Triforce Heroes in the 2D Zelda style.
Zelda is not the Skyrim of the 80's. Skyrim is the Zelda of the 2010's.
exactly!
Oh dear... XD
You are in for a long and bumpy but awesome ride.
what a great and interesting video, thank you for that!
14:37 Holy shit! I actually had that thing. Damn girl you really did your homework for this!
Great as always, even a Zelda (deku) nut like me learned new things here. I'm very impressed with the quality of these videos and how fast/consistent they are made. Great job!
Thank you!
***** I've thought about all those you mentioned. Haven't decided on what to do next yet. Just focusing on Zelda right now. But I am reading everyone's requests!
FINALLY someones who pronouces Shigeru Miamoto's name right!
Accent doesn't equal mispronunciation.
I doubt Miyamoto would say your name "right" either.
Dean Weiss that’s the silliest thing I’ve heard.
Bill Trinen does. You know, Shigeru's personal translator Bill Trinen?
Great start to this retrospective. Can't wait to see more!
I know I’m late but these videos are awesome! I finished your Metroid series and now I’m watching Zelda!

This was a really good video. I thought i was the worlds biggest zelda fan and yet there are games i never even had heard about.
So glad this video exists!
I've got all the loz games. All of them in my room un a glass cabinet. KEEPING THEM FOREVERRRR

History of Mario!.... Wait. That'll be a million parts =p
Really good. Best review I've seen in a long time, so much more interesting than reading Wikipedia articles. Please do something on Breath of the Wild as well, if you have the time.
Thank you for this special place in my heart for Zelda x
12:21 yeah it does, the Great Palace will start you over at its entrance if you got a Game Over while inside it.
I love your videos. From conkers to zelda. Thank you from people like me. I can't wait until part 2! I have no idea how you do it. I only have 12 subs
That part where you battle yourself with the calculator was funny. You're very charming and very enjoyable. Keep up the good work!
+Xeng Hang She's not going to sleep with you
I love how you pronounce "Miyamoto" ^^
+Ruko Michiharu Use a smiley instead of those carat eyes, you goddamned weeboo
great documentary that was one of my favorite games in the 80s thanks!!!!!
This is an awesome video. Had no idea on the existence of mini Zelda games. Thanks for the info :)
7:21 >played Zelda 1 recently
> claimed that it has aged well
HAHAHA! Oh man, best joke i've heard all week right there.
CrimsonSpirit LOL, You obviously have no idea what you are talking about... Zelda 1 is absolutely perfect. If you had actually played the game, ever, you might know that.. stupid kid...

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
This video is amazing and full with content, THANK YOU
LOL @ 01:27
I can kind of envision this event:
Nurse: Mr Miyamoto, I'm sorry, but you seem to have contracted some unknown illness and will have to be confined to your bed for the foreseeable future while we figure this out. I am so very sorry.
Miyamoto: FUCK THE HELL YES!
Great video. I would love to see a history of Street Fighter. I think Ryu's "Hadouken" is the most famous screamed out word that just about every gamer recognizes. : )
this channel definitely needs more love!!
She's going to cover them all, "OH boy I'm so hungry I can eat an Octorok"
YES! I've been waiting for this one!!
I couldn't help but think of Digimon Tamers when you mentioned the Barcode Battler, it's pretty much the same if you think about it
great way to add some comedy, you look way to serious like a news lady in your other vidz lol
I found this video, and u know what, I love ur tradition of how u work on TH-cam
I think it'll be intersting to see a rayman retrospective since they changed.so much. From how they were originally to the rabbids games to now.
I hope to hear about how ALttp was going to be an RPG in which you were going to use multiple heroes, or at least that was how Miyamoto vision it for the begining.
I've been looking foreword to this.
You should do the Shin Megami Tensei series, more invovled around the Persona series.
Keep up the good work!
Very informative, Can't wait for part 2.

14:58 are garbage!..awesome. very definative work here, thanks!
Great stuff! Really miss your videos!
Wow, I thought I knew all about this franchise, but had never heard of any of those early mobile games.
Re watching your videos because they were awesome(:
Very cool series. Thanks for posting!
Huh, I'm surprised I didn't know about that last entry. Still a lot I can learn about my favorite series!
Barcode Battler sounds awesome
