Man, that Spaceworld clip had ME crying! It's a shame that you can't really get that kind of emotion from seeing new games anymore. Zelda games are probably the only ones capable of that these days, yet Nintendo would really have to pull out all the stops to get that reaction again. Or maybe I'm wrong, that's just my take on it anyway.
I never minded the sailing. I like how it felt like you were on a long adventure honestly. Windwaker always is in my top three favorite zeldas. The first place spot rotates all the time to me lol
The Kokiri evolving into Koroks make sense: the Great Deku Tree wanted to expand the islands by growing trees on each of them; since he can't go himself or trow his seeds that far, he needed the Kokiri to travel, so they eventually evolved into Koroks so traveling would be easier for them (using their tiny leaf helicopters to fly). The Zora to Rito is still something I can't understand though...
I cant even imagine how much work you put into these, the research, playtime, analyzing, writing, filming and editing must take forever. But it just goes to show the extreme quality you produce, again thank you!
18:36 that reaction! it always has me on the floor laughing!! you wanna know why? because im very confident that was the same reaction we all had when Majora's Mask 3D was announced back a few months ago. am I right?
I've very recently started watching your videos when I saw 'The History of Spyro' by chance - since then, I've enjoyed every minute of your reviews thanks to your detailed knowledge of the gaming industry and your calming voice. Zelda is my favourite game series to date, and I am eagerly looking forward to part 5; thank you again for all of your hard work - particularly by explaining the Zelda timeline!
I just want to say thank you for all your hard work on this series it is the best history of Zelda series I have ever seen. I also love how unlike most youtubers, for some reason you do not use foul language and are very classy .
I won't be sad if you don't do this, but I would like to see an Animal Crossing retrospective next even though it's only four games. Paper Mario is four games after all.
Wind Waker was amazing. I don't get what's so wrong with it's graphics, I love them. Also one thing that I like about Zelda is the diversity of it's styles: the obscurity of Majora's Mask, the charm of Wind Waker, the epicness of the Wii versions, in every console generation they take a different way, that's cool, no other franchise does that without failing.
Completely agree with this comment. So many people try to say "Skyward sucks because...." or "Wind waker is awful because..." when in actuality, each game is amazing in its own way. I have only once been even slightly disappointed from a main series Zelda game, and that was phantom hourglass. Still not a bad game though.
There wasn't anything wrong with the graphics, it just wasn't the art style most fans were expecting. It's like going home and thinking you were getting your favourite take out food for dinner to find out they just made some soup or something. People had the idea in their head of what they wanted, and were shown something that was the opposite of it which disappointed them. I think now though it's practically unanimously agreed especially with the HD version that Wind Waker is awesome in most people's eyes.
Caity Raindrop yea, I lived that game's hype, I was a Zelda's fanboy kido, but unlike most of the people, that game hooked me since the start, I was like "I like anime and I like Zelda games, this is just great!". Thx to Wind Waker I comited the mistake of buying a GC instead of a PS2.
I was only answering "I don't get what's so wrong with the graphics", not challenging your opinion on the series and it's installments. There was nothing wrong with the graphics, it just wasn't the art style many were expecting so people were disappointed at first.
Wow! This is how Midna came to be?! Awesome, she's my favorite sidekick! This is a perfect example of how Shigeru prioritizes gameplay over story. There never would have been a twilight princess without that idea.Although it's quite possible that referred to Zelda herself,i always thought it was referring to Midna. Also, that E3 reaction was heartwarming.I myself don't remember watching that year's edition.
loved the video!!! Personally I still think that Twilight Princess is still my favorite of all. I thought the controls were awkward at first but later it became a part of me. the cinematics were great.I loved how Midna fit in and I thought the world didn't have to bright and wonderful, but dark and grimm. One thing that I did realize after playing all of the zelda's is that the world seemed that it was the look of perspective from link. I mean wind waker link was a child so the world would come to mind in a child's eye. The world change in the eyes of an adult in twilight princess.
I am so glad I found this channel. Holy crap, you're doing an amazing job. Keep on doing the great work :) Also I love how detailed your work is. This is perfect for people like me who is interested in video game history.
I thought this episode was definitely more funny than previous episodes. Your editing was superb! Your channel is one of my favorite gaming channels, no doubt. :)
i love these videos. i respect how much work, editing, and research go into each episode. i really love learning about games i missed out on as a kid. i love the vids keep up the amazing work.
I loved The Wind Waker since the first time I saw and played it; it was my first Zelda game and even today, with Twilight Princess, is my favourite one of the series. I appreciated very much this History of Zelda series!
I wouldn't be happy that I was one of the first subscribers, I would be happy that this channel finally got the attention that it deserves as it produces amazing content.
yepp, you are definitly the greatest source material over the World Wide Webb. I am waiting with patiente for the last part, but if its possible, could you tell us everything you know about the incoming Zelda games (rumors and that kind of stuff)?
The one thing I hate about wind waker is the fact that when it came out so many people hated it and now since it was updated everyone says it's their favorite. When the game came out I was the only one of my friends that liked the game and now everyone loves it.
I still don't like it as much as I should. It has nothing to do with the graphics, but the fact that 90% of the game is ocean, and some of the islands are bland. It did have some memorable pieces, but nothing spectacular. Just my opinion, different strokes for different folks, I guess.
I feel like my brother with Kingdom Hearts right now, I'm just really excited to see your take on the Phantom Hourglass! And I actually liked Linebeck.
According to the scenes that occur during the credits of Twilight Princess, we see Link riding Epona toward Hyrule Castle in quite a hurry, specifying that Zelda needed help with something. So I think that according to that scene, the events of Four Swords Adventures occur directly after Twilight Princess, not eon after it (even though the Link in that game is Toon Link, the name of the Link from Wind Waker in Super Mario Smash Bros. Brawl).
oh come on! I never gave a shit about what wind waker looked like! I thought the graphics were beautiful when I first played that game and I STILL think that!
I know that, but I had a completely different opinion when I first played the game. I thought the graphics were beautiful and made the game look fun to play. I was also 8 years old when I first played it. but I still think that now
auremango s I myself did not care aswell and enjoyed it for its story and unique style. I am also a sailing fan so did help a lot I think then traveling the sea to islands. I think the big trouble was with them releasing a cool realistic zelda fight and then saying they will release wind waker. It pissed of fans with them radically changing the game they expected to come. And some people did not like the style but it was most likely the minor trouble with people not liking it at first.
I think they made Wind Waker because many early Gamecube games were already really dark. Metroid Prime, Starfox Adventures (slightly), Resident Evil Remake, RE Zero, Eternal Darkness, Blood Omen 2. There would have been too much dark games on the system, and Nintendo propably didn't want to be called by parents of little kids or something similar. Too bad they had too rush the production of Wind Waker, what easily made it the objectively weakest 3D Zelda game (fake vastness, too few things to find on the islands, dungeons were too few (5 1/2) and weak (Majoras Mask also had only 4 1/2, but those were far superior), the Triforce quest, very annoying sidequests, unfinished mechanics (partially fixed on Wii U), etc.) They should have put more time into the game and it could have been really outstanding. The way it is, it's somewhere between good - slightly great.
I'll always feel that the definitive version of Twilight Princess is the Gamecube one. The Wii version is literally a mirrored version of the gamecube one. Link is a left handed swordsman on every Zelda title.....except the Wii version of Twlight Princess. Even by the way link controls on the wii from the gamcube you can tell that the game was design for the gamecube. give me the Gamecube version every time.
Twilight princess is my favorite zelda, I loved windwaker but TP became the perfect zelda to me, people complain that the opening start of the game was too long, I say it was a great and atmospheric part of the game, where link is just a guy running a farm.
Hi! Ive watched all your things so far and It has let me to know LOTS more about my favourite game series: The legend of Zelda. I must give you your own triforce of wisdom for you too know this much and share it too the public. But may I say (I dont mean to be an asshole) but I have an Ocarina and it is not pronounced like that. I do not mean to give a downer. But anyways, I love what you have been doing and thank you so much for letting me know way much more about the Legend of Zelda.
what no mention of navi trackers on the four swords adventure? it only happened in the japanese version but it was fun to hear the voices from wind waker actually speak to you. from what I've seen from it, I'm not sure if link talks but I want to see it just for fun! :D
I don't really know what you mean by the motion controls weren't accurate. Aside from a broken shield bash, they worked just fine for me. I don't think I ever had a response problem.
Wind Waker is fine and I liked the game. Yea, I wasn't too fond of the graphic style when it was first shown, but I still bought the game when it came out anyway and had fun with it. I am glad though that they didn't continue on with that same graphic style in Twilight Princess. I think it was fine for Wind Waker, but let's just leave it there. The story of how Midna came to be is interesting and one that I did not previously know. Thanks for including that! She was Link's best sidekick to date, IMO, even better than Tatl. Link never went on a hunt for either of those two after the games, yet he wanted to find Navi again? Why Link, why? lol
I really really don't think realism is remotely necessary for a video game. In fact, I feel like COMPLETELY AVOIDING realism makes games way more fun. That's basically half the reason I don't give a shit about graphics, even though upgrading them the way, say, the upcoming Mario Kart 8 looks, or Pikmin 3 looks, is a nice touch. I don't *need* that level of graphical upgrade, and have never cared. ...I can't believe there was a petition for the Zelda game after Wind Waker to be realistic looking. :/ Twilight Princess came out great so there's no need to complain, but it's still really frustrating feeling like the only person who doesn't care about graphics sometimes.
like how Ganondorf was stuck in 10 different worlds? They could just make up a reason along the way, just like every story element in the Zelda franchise
I absolutely loath all those idiots who talk about the absolutely need for realistic and "mature" games and dismiss games like Wind Waker for being too "cartoony". I see realism as a noose around imaginations neck it can severely limit one's creativity.
Twilight princess was my first Zelda game and when I got it I couldn't get out of ordon. And after about 3 years I finally got out of Ordon and beat the game

Or maybe I'm wrong, that's just my take on it anyway.
I can't ever get over Wind Waker. Toon Link is just so damn adorable ;w;
Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are my top two Zelda games of all time, with TP taking the first spot. I love these games
OMG I absolutely LOVE The Minish Cap! I have nostalgia towards that game! And sure enough, it is really underrated...
Did she just mention Hayao Miyazaki and Shigeru Miyamoto in one video!!! The greatest creators!
Yeah, I feel like most legend of Zelda games incorporate inspiration from Miazaki movies like Nausica into the games, including Wind Waker.
I love your videos, they're really informative. Can't wait for the next part.
The reactions on the Twilight Princess trailer hahahah
I cant even imagine how much work you put into these, the research, playtime, analyzing, writing, filming and editing must take forever. But it just goes to show the extreme quality you produce, again thank you!
I would give you 10 thumbs up if I could, thanks.
No problem :) Looking forward to the last part of my favorite game series!
18:36 that reaction! it always has me on the floor laughing!! you wanna know why? because im very confident that was the same reaction we all had when Majora's Mask 3D was announced back a few months ago. am I right?
Video's awesome as always!
I've very recently started watching your videos when I saw 'The History of Spyro' by chance - since then, I've enjoyed every minute of your reviews thanks to your detailed knowledge of the gaming industry and your calming voice. Technically there are like 7 because there were multiple versions of the original
Oh. I forgot about those. Animal Forest and Animal Forest e+ and stuff like that I think.
Dr. Yay Holy Balls... Cody, this is the first time i've ran into you on TH-cam!
I didn't know you watched this channel!

YES! A new video, thanks for this amazing series. I'm loving every minute of it.
Wind Waker was amazing. I don't get what's so wrong with it's graphics, I love them. Emm well... yeah... I just felt like commenting my impressions of that game.

your retrospectives are amazing! 5 hours of my life well spent! can't wait for zelda - part 5
Enjoying this retrospective on Zelda, looking forward to Part 5. Thanks!
It's great to see you again... and better than ever i might add, part 3 and this video show were awesome congratulations and keep up the good work
I absolutely love your videos! Amazing work :)
I have already seen a lot of these type of videos, but none of this quality. Very funny and informative. Subscribed!
really love the the presentation and style of these history videos, surprised they don't have more attention. good stuff.
The toon link style is my favourite but I wish the environments were a bit more detailed and the water had that clear see-through effect
They have it on a test map
just the opposite in my case: when Windwaker came out I though everything looked really cool except for link himself.
I want to thank you for this awesome retrospective. Thank you. Good job.
Great video Patricia well worth the wait can't wait for part 5 to come out.

Thank you for another great video game direct they just keep getting better and better I can't wait for the next one
I loved The Wind Waker since the first time I saw and played it; it was my first Zelda game and even today, with Twilight Princess, is my favourite one of the series. I appreciated very much this History of Zelda series!
Your best video to date Patricia. Keep it up!!! :)
Amazing job again. I love windwaker.
so many things about Wind waker aged so well. The graphics, the controls, ect, they all aged like fine wine
Great review! Can't wait for part 5!! :)
I can't wait until this channel has over a million views and I'll know I was one of the very first subscribers. :)
same bro, glad to see success!
Indeed i am too :D
I wouldn't be happy that I was one of the first subscribers, I would be happy that this channel finally got the attention that it deserves as it produces amazing content.
Symm C. Kenny I'm happy for both lol.
Symm C. Kenny Soon man, both things will be happening soon
Twilight Princess my favorite Zelda game.
Midna was such an amazing character. I absolutely loved that sarcastic little bi- imp...
Very informative retrospectives. Excellent work. :)
I love the Minish Cap. Truly underrated indeed.
Yet another really enjoyable video! Thank you :).
Amazingly well done! Well done! Enjoying the whole series. Subscribed.
Great video Patricia!
Thanks =)
Can we see a Rayman retrospective next? Also, I love your videos, you make them so interesting!!
yepp, you are definitly the greatest source material over the World Wide Webb. I am waiting with patiente for the last part, but if its possible, could you tell us everything you know about the incoming Zelda games (rumors and that kind of stuff)?
I got a good chuckle when you named yourself Smexy. Good watch
Can you also do Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem? ONGAI!
A Star Fox retrospective, perhaps?
That cutscene of Lila falling from the sky always creeped me out, it was like a scene from a horror movie like Link was being posessed.
The crowd reaction was epic
OMG THAT GUY AT e3 JUST CRACKS ME UP! Haha... Never gets old.
Im so stocked for EP. Four!
The one thing I hate about wind waker is the fact that when it came out so many people hated it and now since it was updated everyone says it's their favorite. When the game came out I was the only one of my friends that liked the game and now everyone loves it.

Where the hell are you guy's? This channel is so fucking dope and y'all just abruptly stopped with no explanation.
So true. I remember watching history of Metroid games and was obsessed. (Sighs) another one bites the dust I guess
FIVE PARTS? OMYGOSH!
I really like your videos! Notable for your superb pronunciation of the japanese names! =D
You and the video are great! :) Thank you once more. ^_^
You should do a retrospective for Kingdom Hearts! You're really good at these! :D
Windwaker is definitely my favorite game, weirdly enough, despite its mixed initial reception.
Does two Legend of Zelda From the DS will be featured from the Part 5?
1.)Legend of Zelda Phantom HourGlass
2.)Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks
Yep, I'll talk about them.
Considering the fact that she's done every single Zelda game thus far, even the spinoffs, I'd say yes.
***** okay =) love your vids. Keep up the good work
Have been waiting for this since part 3 :-)
HAHAHAHA "OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOODDD!!!!" "OH SHIT!"
a photo realistic Zelda would be terrifying.
oot was scary to me as a child but I loved it for that. a photo realistic zelda based off of oot graphic and sound designs would be dark as hell
Eddie Iler photo realistic majora's mask would be WAY worse. just imagine the transformations... not to mention the moon,
I love your videos!!! they are awesome! you have gain a chilean fan =D
Part 4
New TheGameDirect retrospective? Yay yay yay!
this series is super charming
I feel like my brother with Kingdom Hearts right now, I'm just really excited to see your take on the Phantom Hourglass! And I actually liked Linebeck.
Not to mention that Minish Cap Link's hair is DOPE !
Could you please do a sonic retrospective at some point? Great video by the way
Keep doing this wonderfull work¡
oh come on! I never gave a shit about what wind waker looked like! I thought the graphics were beautiful when I first played that game and I STILL think that!

Twilight Princess is my favourite, it was also the first Zelda game I completed, so it will always be very special to me.

2:43 Wow! Miyamoto and Miyazaki have something in common.
Your videos, ***** , are always uplifting to watch after a long hard day of medical classes.
Thanks, glad you find our videos therapeutic. =)
You have no idea how therapeutic.
what no mention of navi trackers on the four swords adventure? it only happened in the japanese version but it was fun to hear the voices from wind waker actually speak to you. from what I've seen from it, I'm not sure if link talks but I want to see it just for fun! :D
Love it!!
Minish Cap does indeed look interesting.
After Zelda, can you please do the history of Ratchet and Clank or Sly Cooper?
I'd love this as well.
Minish Cap was great. Loved that game.
I don't really know what you mean by the motion controls weren't accurate. Aside from a broken shield bash, they worked just fine for me. I don't think I ever had a response problem.

I love your amazing videos, you never stop pleasing me :)
Haha Real funny!
It's funny how each new Zelda title seemed to make fans appreciate the previous titles more XD
I hope Midna or a descendant of her comes back into the Zelda Universe.
like how Ganondorf was stuck in 10 different worlds? They could just make up a reason along the way, just like every story element in the Zelda franchise
Hey, TP has one of the most bittersweet endings ever. I like that they only implied a kinda romantic bond.
Hey I guess you're in luck with Hyrule Warriors :p
Twilight princess reveal gave me chills..
15:04 look who named herself SMEXY. LOL !
I caint waite to see what they have done with the next home console Zelda game! Great video by the way, I love your videos!
I absolutely loath all those idiots who talk about the absolutely need for realistic and "mature" games and dismiss games like Wind Waker for being too "cartoony". I see realism as a noose around imaginations neck it can severely limit one's creativity.
This game reminds me of A LOT OF GAMES! Such as Nanosaur [The lava part around 15:10 - 15:15 or so.
Twilight princess was my first Zelda game and when I got it I
couldn't get out of ordon. And after about 3 years I finally got out of Ordon and beat the game
