Its amazing how Your videos Where so Good from the start. Not even the Biggest reviewers started with such Good edited and made with care videos! Keep it up and you will only grow!
And now in 2016 with the upcoming Zelda Breath of the Wild we have to feed link to restore his health. Looks like the producers of this game never let go of an idea.
I just found your channel today and I have watched a lot of your videos already. I love how informative they are and how well they're organized. I can't wait for part 3!
It's great to see someone cover the Satellaview Zelda games and in such great detail, keep up the amazing work! I definitely have to review a Zelda game for one of my upcoming reviews! Anyway, i'm glad you're feeling much better looking forward to your next video!
To be fair. Nintendo backed out of it's contract with Sony because they had snuck in a clause that made it so they would retain all of the distributions rights, and would be taking a significantly larger portion of the profits for themselves. Granted Nintendo's lawyers should've read the contract better to have avoided the drama. But Sony was being incredibly greedy, and when the relatively smaller, less powerful Nintendo realized what was happening, they understandably panicked. I'm not saying what Nintendo did was ethical. But Sony was hardly innocent.
I have a feeling that if that deal went down nintendo wouldn't be around today. Sony was so huge back then they would have absorbed them in the coming years. Mario would have been a Sony IP.
The wait was definitely worth it. And I'm glad you feel better now. And plus I'm getting a little excited to hear you talk about my favorite Legend of Zelda! (Well, more like the only TLOZ game I even owned)The Phantom Hourglass.
You neglect to mention that the reason Nintendo abandoned the Sony deal is because Sony had deliberately allowed for a loop hole that would constitute to Sony earning ALL royalties on Software, even for Nintendo characters. It wasn't as random or mean spirited as you make it appear. It was an eye for an eye. Nintendo were betrayed, so they betrayed Sony.
I thought I knew everything about Zelda. But you still can teach me a thing or two. ;) I love this series and look very much forward to the next episodes. Thanks!
Really excellent. I have personally never played a Zelda game, so I'm very interested in learning the history about it. You do an excellent job of conveying the information, it is never boring! I really enjoyed your series on Crash and Spyro, so I've subscribed to your channel. I have a suggestion for another series, would you be able to do Tomb Raider? Because it is also a revolutionary series, it would be interesting to find out more about it. Thank you! Keep up the great work :)
I thought is was kinda neat to have someone else besides Link to play as for the Satelliview games. I've only played Map 1 so far, though, and not much of the Link to the Past one. Glad to hear you're feeling better.
as a rather intense and drunken collector of zeldness......i figured i was just wandering around in to some old rehashed zelda bidness.....until i realized that you were still working on this series of videos, and it warmed my cold heart containers....im glad to see people still appreciate this series, regardless of how "unborn" they were when it all started..
I love how in depth this was :) I'm learning so much from your videos and it's making me appreciate all the effort put into my favorite games. I'm glad I started watching your videos :) keep up the awesome work!
Things like the Satellaview fascinates me. It's always fun to see how people back then thought a novel idea was going to be the next big thing, only to completely overlook a small, but very important detail. In the case of the unfortunately named BS games, the novelty of playing a game with a live broadcast sounds awesome, until you realize you need to play the games at a specific point in time to get the full experience, which gives the game far less replay value, if at all.
As always, great reviewing. You make things incredibly enjoyable even when one hasn't actually played a certain game (yeah, sadly I was born after the time Nintendo had its golden era in the entertainment industry). Can't simply wait for the 3rd part and so glad you are feeling better now!
To be fair, Sony was going to back stab Nintendo by keeping 100% of the CD profits while leaving Nintendo with nothing. Would you partner up with someone and earn 0% of the profts?
Very good episode! A Link to the Past defined my gaming childhood completely, I was obsessed by it. Loved all the trivia and data on Link's Awakening too. Never played the CDI ones and never will. Looking forward to another landmark, OOT ;) Keep up the awesome work, you do a great job with these videos!
I think Zelda Links Awakening is little bit overlooked: It is more like the original one (top down levels mixed with side scrolling levels and a Overworld Map you can't see at the beginning) and it was more fun with this "item trading system": give Yoshi to Baby and get Dog food, or something this way). And it was fun with all these funny characters like Doktor Write how is in love with Christine but does not know, that she is a goat. Or the Eastereggs like taking Marin totthe gaming hall and she gets the shop keeper as a price. And the first Verison head very funny and good(!) german translation.
12:40 Actually, Sony and Nintendo got a contract set up to develop games together. However, the Contract Nintendo signed with Sony gave Sony all rights to their IPs, and I think there was something about Nintendo not getting paid at all in it. Nintendo Vs Sony! - The History of the SNES CD - Part 1 - From Concept to Console For more information on the matter.
The bit about the Sony/Nintendo deal was really oversimplified. Nintendo had discovered that the contract Sony had written up essentially said that Nintendo would do all the work, but make no money. When they went to Sony about it, they refused to rework the contract, so Nintendo went to Phillips, (Sony's biggest competitor), and made the same deal, (with intentions to never actually follow through), as a way to try and get Sony to break the contract. Sony had made the PlayStation, (named after the Nintendo PlayStation they'd been codesigning, the prototype for which was found not long ago), as a middle finger to Nintendo. Ultimately the three companies sat down and figured something out, which was canceling all the contracts, and Phillips getting the rights to make a few games with Nintendo characters. All that being said, great series, I love them so far.
Dude that live broadcast idea is freaking awesome! Someone should do this with NES Remix type games or Mario Maker maps. I could totally see some indie devs doing a live game jam where they let their games be played by a bunch of people and they can give commentary over it, like a live gaming podcast that a bunch of people play. How has no one revisited this idea?
Shane Mitchell hey trying to do an entire history on a video game franchise (especially with one as big a Zelda) your not going to get everything right
ive spent 100 days real time in league of legends, countless hours on call of duty and battlefield and many, many hours in World of Warcraft but the 20-30 hours ive probably spent on A Link to the Past is probably my second favorite game ever behind persona 4. that game is so amazing and even though i havent played it in so long, i can remember the soundtrack, the sounds, etc. so good
actually in link's awakening, the text box is skippable if you press B and in ancient stone tablets, you could just get the dungeon map to tell if there's a secret room there or not
I'm not someone who usually comments on youtube, but I recently discovered you, and your retrospectives. I have a junky personality how am i supposed to survive without my fix?! i can only rewatch them so many times!!! save mee pleaseee.
I Enjoyed the video and loved every second of it. Now I know more about the developement of these wonderfull games. Like many are saying, the wait was indeed worth it. And to my horror I saw that I havent subscribed to you yet. Shame on me. Im doing that now.
Zelda Treasury I'm 21 and Twin Peaks is my favorite show of all time. It's one of the most watched shows on Netflix these days. I think it's WAY more well known now, even among younger viewers
7:44 "SPECTACLE ROCK IS AN ENTRANCE TO DEATH." LOL Assuming Death Mountain was in the original Legend of Zelda, was Spectacle Rock an entrance to Death Mountain and that's what it means?? xD Also wanted to point out at around 11:46 Link does flips when jumping across the platforms, so I guess he does so in both Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening. It seems like I've heard people say he only does in Majora's Mask. ...My comment is really random. lol
6:35 "I can not imagine having to constantly feed Link to recharge stamina." You surely won't be happy with Breath of the Wild ;)
Came to the comments for this, thank you for not letting me down
Its amazing how Your videos Where so Good from the start. Not even the Biggest reviewers started with such Good edited and made with care videos! Keep it up and you will only grow!
I have to agree. It's what caused me to start following you right from the get go!
I love the bosses in a link to the past
And now in 2016 with the upcoming Zelda Breath of the Wild we have to feed link to restore his health. Looks like the producers of this game never let go of an idea.
I'm loving these videos (part 1 and 2). I'm obsessed about Zelda and it's great to learn new things! Thank you

Anyway, i'm glad you're feeling much better
looking forward to your next video!
I love this channel. So much information about games that I am just finding out!
Happy you are feel better, and part 2 was worth the wait.

I'm not saying what Nintendo did was ethical. But Sony was hardly innocent.
its always back and forth w/ this, still can't make out whos at fault w/ these different point of views
I have a feeling that if that deal went down nintendo wouldn't be around today. Sony was so huge back then they would have absorbed them in the coming years. Mario would have been a Sony IP.
Sony being greedy? Never would have thought.
But yeah that's true.
your looking great with your new glasses glad too have you back
The wait was definitely worth it. And I'm glad you feel better now. And plus I'm getting a little excited to hear you talk about my favorite Legend of Zelda! (Well, more like the only TLOZ game I even owned)The Phantom Hourglass.
I dident mind the wait at all , when you make quality vids like these the wait does not matter at all.
Nintendo were betrayed, so they betrayed Sony.
yo but once smash 4 and hyrule heros come it will boost sales
Stephen Hamilton The xbox one on the other hand. I have yet to hear.
***** halo should do it you should know economics by now wife of the wheat and tale
***** That's if fans are willing to buy it.
***** Well Nintendo weren't the nicest company back then to be fair. I definitely suggest you read "Console Wars" by Blake J Harris. Fantastic book.
I thought I knew everything about Zelda. But you still can teach me a thing or two. ;) I love this series and look very much forward to the next episodes. Thanks!
I could listen to you talk about nintendo games everyday :) makes me wish someone in my life loved these works of art as much as you and me do.
Did anyone else notice that "Link" was named "SEXY" at 4:41? XD
I have one thing to say to this asian girl. "not bad not bad "
I would had prefered a copy of the original NES Zelda on gameboy at the time.
Yes..
Really excellent. I have personally never played a Zelda game, so I'm very interested in learning the history about it. You do an excellent job of conveying the information, it is never boring! Great to see that you're well. Part 2 was amazing! I'm so excited for part 3 :)
Nice job as usual. I am suprisedyou don't ave more subs because your videos obviously have a lot of work put into them. Hope you are feeling better.
as a rather intense and drunken collector of zeldness......i figured i was just wandering around in to some old rehashed zelda bidness.....until i realized that you were still working on this series of videos, and it warmed my cold heart containers....im glad to see people still appreciate this series, regardless of how "unborn" they were when it all started..

Great video and I'm glad you feel better :) that BS Zelda game looks interesting.
Again, another awesome retrospective. I'm happy to know that your eyes are much better :D
I'm pretty sure that LoZ will make the first retrospective with 4 parts, with how many spin-offs and what-not it has.
...Tolemac... Camelot. Really, Phillips?
Wow there are so many spinoffs that I didn't know about this must be a hard series to cover so good luck can't wait till part 3
I think Zelda Links Awakening is little bit overlooked: It is more like the original one (top down levels mixed with side scrolling levels and a Overworld Map you can't see at the beginning) and it was more fun with this "item trading system": give Yoshi to Baby and get Dog food, or something this way). OFF-EN-DEAD xD
I'm so glad your back been waiting to watch this one can't wait for part 3 :D

glad you are feeling better!! :) great review as always
You have CLEARLY done your homework. Well Done. Perhaps you should consider doing documentaries for a living. You would probably be good at it.
She did mess up on the sony part, but I agree otherwise =]
Shane Mitchell hey trying to do an entire history on a video game franchise (especially with one as big a Zelda) your not going to get everything right
Just like Part 1, awesome video. This is the first thorough explanation on those Satellaview Zelda games. On to part 3!
ive spent 100 days real time in league of legends, countless hours on call of duty and battlefield and many, many hours in World of Warcraft but the 20-30 hours ive probably spent on A Link to the Past is probably my second favorite game ever behind persona 4. that game is so amazing and even though i havent played it in so long, i can remember the soundtrack, the sounds, etc. so good

Thanks for pointing that out, but I still find it disruptive since the text box still comes up =/
you.....acknowledged me.....
-cake time-
Glad to know you are doing well! :) Great job with this video!
WOW! Thank You for this GREAT series! I'm going to watch all of them! This is really helping Me fill in spaces between games I've played!
I'm not someone who usually comments on youtube, but I recently discovered you, and your retrospectives. I have a junky personality how am i supposed to survive without my fix?! i can only rewatch them so many times!!! save mee pleaseee.
I would really like to see a Final Fantasy retrospective, but I guess it would take a long time as there's a lot of games
4:41 WTH SEXY? XD

"Great, my computer stopped working"

Very informative and interesting! Part 3 is going to be awesome!
I never even heard about a lot of the spinoffs mentioned here. Thanks for uploading, I'm glad I know of them now
Awesome Zelda videos! I know some of these things, but far from everything. Can't wait for the third part.
This is so well done! I love this series! Amazing job:) I hope one day you do one on Fire Emblem.

Awesome series! Professionally done!
Glad to hear you're doing well!
Like the detail in these videos… Great job! Look forward to seeing more Zelda vids...
Was worried you wasn't gonna do the BS Zelda games for a second. :p
I Enjoyed the video and loved every second of it. Now I know more about the developement of these wonderfull games. Like many are saying, the wait was indeed worth it.
And to my horror I saw that I havent subscribed to you yet. Shame on me. Im doing that now.
Why are people in the comment section so offended when she thought we weren't aware of twin peaks? Dang people get offended so eaisily these days :I

Wonderful to see all that went into what I consider to be the greatest video game ever made: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Re watching these old videos really make me miss her... 😢
+MultiConsoleGamer I know right
what happened?
No one knows, She just disappeared.
It's a pity because her videos are so good!
Can't wait for the next part!
Welcome back
Today's the 28th anniversary of the series! Happy birthday, Link!
Great vid
I am, thank you!
Wow! They had an attachment for the Super Famicom with more Zelda games. Awesome! Now with ROMs. Cool!
This channel is underrated. Great work.
"I can't wait to disgrace some Nintendo!" XD Great video as always!
Yes, I have seen Twin Peaks. Don't treat your viewers like idiots.
It seems like she is only talking to people less then 25 years old.
Zelda Treasury I'm 21 and Twin Peaks is my favorite show of all time. It's one of the most watched shows on Netflix these days. I think it's WAY more well known now, even among younger viewers
Don't assume something you don't know
Great videos, but one thing- Why would you assume your audience hasn't heard of Twin Peaks? It's not exactly obscure.
7:44 "SPECTACLE ROCK IS AN ENTRANCE TO DEATH." LOL
Assuming Death Mountain was in the original Legend of Zelda, was Spectacle Rock an entrance to Death Mountain and that's what it means?? xD
Also wanted to point out at around 11:46 Link does flips when jumping across the platforms, so I guess he does so in both Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening. It seems like I've heard people say he only does in Majora's Mask.
...My comment is really random. lol
"I'm guessing..... no?" please stopp
+RawmanK right. i thought the same thing. everyone who is old enough to have played these games knows Twin Peaks. goddamn millenials.
I love your videos! I never thought there was those weird spin off on The Legend of Zelda
Well done on the video
I bet this will go over 5 parts :P. and if anytime ur not feeling well don't feel pressured into making these :)
The description is wrong. TWO of the best Zelda games.
Is that better? =P
04:40
Link's name is SEXY?
Ikr? XD
