Hi InkRose, i was wondering if you be interested in talking about the transformation of Time Turner, (aka Dr. Whooves) from a Pegasus into an earth pony
That riddle mystery is the foreshadowing of KINGDOM HEARTS. I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ARE DOING A KINGDOM HEARTS RETROSPECTIVE. I AM BEYOND EXCITED! THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
Great conclusion! I was surprised that the Skyward Sword segment was so short. I was expecting a bit more about that one seeing as it was the 25th anniversary game, and the first in the story (thus far).
Ya, I tried to highlight the important points only, since this is an overview of the Zelda franchise. I could probably go on for 30 mins about skyward sword alone if I talked about every detail.
Phew! That was a long retrospective. But I loved all of it since it went through EVERY GAME. One question though, Would you do a sonic retrospective? I really like the sonic series and would love to see a retrospective.
***** If you do a retrospective on the Sonic series. You defiantly need talk about how bad Sonic 06 is, the game is full of glitches. For example in the New City I could launch Sonic into the air an land INSIDE a building
I've seen a lot of Zelda documentaries on TH-cam and yours is by far the most detailed and the only one that covered even the lesser known games. Great Job!
I discovered your videos by chance today, and have had a blast spending all afternoon watching your Metroid series and now your Zelda series. Thanks for all your hard work on these videos, and I hope to see more from you in the future!
Wonderful work Patricia, as always. Loved every second of this cunning series, glad I finally took a look at those after a brief rest from following your activities. At last I could get some lecturing about how did it all go with that "myserious game from Nintendo I never played".
Masterpiece, thats what you call this whole retrospektive. I cant imagine any other person or site who has done such a great investigation, for this whole franchise. Thumbs up all the way. The only bad thing about this retrospektive is that it is too well done that some company or magazine may want to hire you for other things and make you leave TheGameDirect. Not sure if its good or bad for us Wievers.
I really enjoyed watching this series, and it's actually the first thing I've seen from you. I've technically grown up on Zelda, having the collector's edition for the Game Cube. I never really could sit down and get out of Kokiri Forest or Clocktown(Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask the two I really only played, plus the demo for Wind Waker), but I enjoyed them, and I consider myself to have grown up with Zelda at the very least. The first title I have actually beaten is Link Between Worlds though. I'm going back and trying my best to play through all the games to my disposal though, to become more immersed in the feelings others have for the past installments. The Legend of Zelda franchise had looped me in at a young age, but I never really considered myself too big of a fan until recently.
WOW, was that long - but very informative!! I've only played a little bit of the first Zelda game and that's it. Now I'm intrigued to try "A Link Between Worlds" and "The Phantom Hourglass," thanks to you! My friend showed me a bit of PH ages ago and I had fun with it and LBW looks very cool. (Side note: Can any Zelda fans out there tell me if these are reasonable games for a newbie to play in the series to start off, or will I get lost/frustrated?) I had no idea Zelda carried so many games with it. I also can't believe I've never played any of them!! Superb job with this, by the way; you gave just the right amount of information for each game to keep it brief but explanatory, and as a complete noob to the Zelda franchise I never got lost. (Well, besides that crazy timeline...) And props to you for covering the series to this extent - over an hour and a half of footage! I can't imagine how hard that must have been to research, write, shoot and edit for. Plus I love your voice; the way you inflect your speech is extremely pleasing to the ear and is still pleasant to listen to after nearly 2 hours of it straight. Great job, and thanks again for the introduction to this massive series. I can't wait until your next gaming retrospective!!! =)
Welcome to the gang MegaSupernova. If I were a newbie, I would start with "A Link to the Past" or a "Link Between Worlds" If you started with one of the 3D versions, you may not enjoy the overhead style later on. Whatever you do, don't start with "The Phantom Hourglass". I couldnt even get through that one due to the sloppy stylus controls. Swiping your screen to swing a sword was horrible. However, if 3D games are more your speed, You cant go wrong with choosing "Twilight Princess", "WindWaker" , "Ocarina of Time Remastered", or Skyward Sword. All are amazing and can be played in any order.
I can't believe I went through all of your history parts from zelda franchise! I wish I could give you an award for this! Thank you for making those videos from my all-time favorite franchise!! Big love
This was an awesome series. Specially because of all the factual info you provided. The Legend of Zelda is very dear to my heart, and you didna great job at tackling it with passion and care. Thanks for bringing back to the spotlight. Also, I think the next series is about Kingdom Hearts.
I personally loved Skyward Sword.Ties up the story real nice, the controls felt great(rolling bombs and swinging sword) and the design is totally lovely.Zelda is so great looking in this one,i love her personality and also the overall feel of the island.I also loved Fi(pronounced fee in my opinion),that voice of hers gave her a mystical quality. This was a fun retrospective, sorry i'm late to the finale but i have watched the entirety of it and was amazed at some of the discoveries! Lotsa fun, thanks for the series!
I watched all parts one after another, and even though I've played Zelda games before I feel like I'm pretty much completely informed on the series! Awesome show
Brilliant end to the Zelda video series. The humour in this one was brilliant! I'd like to guess the next one being Kingdom Hearts? I've never played the series but always wanted to see what it's like. I'm hoping you can work some magic to make me get the games like you did with your Far Cry 3 review all that time ago!
Madam, it was my genuine pleasure to watch all five parts. Thank you for putting them all up. I love your retrospectives. BTW, two choices are crossing my mind for the next one. What could it be? Donkey Kong? Or Kingdom Hearts? Hmmmm.... I wonder....
Loved this set of videos, Zelda is truly a legend in videogames and all of the games are beautifully crafted by their creators. I did enjoyed the adventure of link, despite it's high difficulty, although i never saw the ending to it. I also played A link to the past, which was fantastic and made a deep impression on my gaming experience. Ocarina of time was quite shocking, hard to imagine how good it was, and how it shaped the future of 3d adventures. After the n64 i lost the track of nintendo home consoles, and never really played wind waker, twilight princess nor skyward sword, which makes me sad, but did finished phantom hourglass and did enjoyed it. I hope that as i watched this series, i finally get to enjoy those missing zelda games soon enough. Well, congratulations again for your videos, i do love them, i hope you continue to make them.
Excellent job as always, especially taking the Zelda retrospective, you know it was a hell of a job, but that didn't stop you at all, and even tho you had problems, you never gave up. Congratulations, you deserve all of the praise and more, and i'll be waiting for the next retrospective
Never played Kingdom Hearts but I thought of Final Fantasy... close enough for me ;-) Congratulations for concluding the series! I really enjoyed it! Keep it up!!
Dam! Too much Zelda for me. I never even played any of the games, but just by watching this makes me not want to. Without me playing them, and after watching this I think I know so much now. I can't wait for the next one. What an awesome job she made. Stupendous work, and a brilliant delivery. I can't wait for the next one.
I still chuckle at the Smexy naming. Something about it is cute and hilarious. I do love the videos all the same. It feels like the quality has really improved over the series's.
Great job patricia I really loved this retrospective from begining to end and I hope more people love these retrospectives as much as i do, Thank You P.S.I'm excited for your next retrospective
Okay, Skyward Sword, I have some things to say about it. Personally, I'm in the camp that likes the game. It's obviously flawed, I will admit it, but I respect the attempt to try something new and break away from what has been traditional this point, especially when it comes to money being largely unnecessary outside of 100% completion. To me, there are two breaking points, technically three, and yes, Fi is one of them, but I'll get back to her later. I don't see the controls as really much of a breaking point. I think it boils down to people being too used to button pressing and thus have to fight muscle memory, but that could just be me. I think the first breaking point is the intro. It's insanely long. I understand the idea of a long intro so that we get a glimpse of the characters in their mostly everyday lives and better appreciate character development, but like Twilight Princess, I think it tries a little too hard, and as such, it lasts too long for its own good. In its defense, however, it does succeed at its intended job and makes you appreciate the character development between Link, Zelda and Groose, but it still could have been shorter. In fact, from what I've heard, the intro was supposed to be even longer, but Miyamoto thought it was too long as it was. The second breaking point is that I heard this game holds your hand too much. I think this is in part responsible of Fi. Oh, Fi, where do I start? I love her design and I find the fact she's robotic, right down to her voice being auto-tuned, despite being a magical being pretty amusing, but that's as far as I can praise her. She never, ever shuts up. When people complain that Navi is annoying and never shuts up, I point out that they most likely remember their first time playing the game, where they were just faffing around doing everything except progress the plot, and being told where to go was frustrating, but once you know what to do, Navi will rarely interrupt you after the tutorial dungeon. Fi on the other doesn't work like that, and it truly saddens me. They did an amazing job with Midna, making her a both a fun character and helper, and not taking any cues on their success just baffles me. I don't so much hate Fi as I'm disappointed she ended up held back by a glaring flaw that could have been easily fixed.
I came up with this idea about a Zelda game where you can play as both Link and Zelda. You could switch between the characters depending of what kind of puzzle you are trying to solve or what kind enemies you face. While Link is a warrior who uses his sword, shield and bow, Zelda could work as a spell caster with both damage and healing spells. The story would be like this: Hyrule is on the brink of war with its neighboring kingdoms. Only Zelda's wisdom can prevent an open conflict, so the King sends his daughter on a diplomatic mission. Link's task is to protect the princess with his life. In this story Link and Zelda are young adults in their early 20s. As the story progresses they grow closer and after saving each others lives a few times they fall in love. They soon discover that Ganondorf is behind the crisis and this time they have to work together to defeat him. When Ganondorf is defeated, world peace is secured and celebrations are held across Hyrule. As a reward, the King promises to fulfill Link's and Zelda's one wish. The two get married and live happily ever after. I'm not sure if Nintendo would buy this idea, but I think it's an interesting idea non the less. At least it would be nice to have a Zelda game where you can actually play as Zelda (Don't mention the CD-i games).
Sora From Kingdom Hearts. Where he lived was Destiny Island inhabited with beautiful Palm trees. Sora and his close friends Riku and Kirai also watched the sun set on a tree that was on its side. Taken away from his world by force and having to explore many others though the Gummi ship. Through out his Journey trying to find Riku and Kirai. It was my favorite/Still my favorite Childhood game of all time XP
Very informative, I really enjoy your retrospective videos. Glad to see someone actually know what their talking about. Hope you have continued success. Good luck
I just started to watch your videos and I'm so glad I came across them. I have learnt so much from you. Thank you so much for making these videos and I ask you continue to make more. My knowledge on gaming is increasing due to awesome facts like these. P.S you are absolutely beautiful! God bless. :)
Yeah, I gotta agree with a lot of other people here, the first thing I thought of was Kingdom Hearts. I learned a lot of stuff this retrospective!! Can't wait for the next one! uvu
Hyrule Warriors (name not final)... It is now! XD great series! Really enjoyed all five parts been looking for a reason to get back into Legend of Zelda and Links adventures and this has spurred it! :D
I despised Phantom Hourglass and haven't played Spirit Tracks... But I feel that making the whole game play on the touch screen was unneccessary, though now I understand why they did it like that... And I agree that using the DS gimmicks in some puzzles was clever, and it is very nice to see that in the game, but look at the DS! It has 8 buttons in it plus the D-pad, and they're screaming "Press me! Press me!" Honestly, I still don't like what they did... Btw, great video ^^
Amazing job with this whole project. Enforce I was really confused on the whole Legend of Zelda timeline. Most youtubers who make a series explaining the timeline throw in theories. I think overall this was a great series and If you should make the origins of the Pokemon series.
I happen to have stumbled unto this when looking for newer information on the History of the Zelda series, and being a huge Zelda fan I have to say you have done a very solid job. Out of the many, many people who don't take the time to post, I am very much looking forward to future installments on this. Nicely done. :) Out of curiosity, as I noticed you do read your comments and often respond; which are your most and least favorite Zelda titles?
I'm still somewhat new to actually PLAYING the Zelda series, but frankly I'm amazed that I never made it through the games I played as a kid. I officially started with Ocarina Of Time 3D and had a great sense of satisfaction once I beat it and regret selling my Gamecube with Wind Waker. As of right now, I'm kinda tempted to try Link Between Worlds and I'm hoping for Majora's Mask 3D! (Also, great videos! I'd love to see another Kingdom Hearts video!)
I watch right from the beginning. Anyways New Zelda coming out on the Wiii U. This gameplay video was posted on Dec 5, 2014 on Nintendo's TH-cam channel called: Wii U - The Legend of Zelda - Gameplay First Look from The Game Awards You all need to see it!.
Omg just finished watching every zelda one of yours back to pack. My mind want to explode with zelda knowledge. My first game i ever played was minish cap so that has to be my fav but im also giving others a shot as im new to this link adventure stuff :)
Thank you so much for covering my favorite gaming series :) Both Zelda and Metroid ls close to my heart! Great work as always and i cant wait for...Kingdom Hearts? :D
Riddle answer to me: Donkey Kong!. I loved the Wii Motion Plus. It made me feel excited over the game, and it worked well for me. I had no trouble with it at all. And about the shop in Between Worlds, yeah I find it strange to get every weapon already at one place. To get from dungeon 1 to 2 and getting a new weapon was one of the reasons to explore these dungeons for me. It's way too easy and not exciting to know every weapon just by walking into a shop. But that's just me.
I hope the answer is Sora from Kingdom Hearts. I'd love for you to do a KH retrospective. It's one of my favourite game franchises. Thank you for the amazing series.
An excellent conclusion to this Zelda retrospective! I hope you one day do Pokemon :) But in the meantime, can't wait for your next retrospective! My guesses are, that it is Kingdom Hearts!
As long as there is a youtube, and the internet, I will always be awaiting information on the Zelda series and continue to experience the series though the eyes of those who do have the games and the consoles to play them on. Even though I may not be able to get the newer Zelda games because of my life and the situation of being forced to grow up and find a job and do university, making it hard for me to buy the newer consoles and handhelds. I still come online, and see that the series I loved as a kid is still going strong.
I really enjoyed watching all of your coverage on the Zelda series, I was a bit disappointed that you didn't cover the rest of the cut content from TWW (fully explorable overworld, an additional 4-6 dungeons, not 2), but other than that I've not seen a retrospective with such detail. Can I ask, is English your first language?
***** I thought that may be the case, but is hard to tell because it's so good. I've studied the intricacies of English so there were a few things that I noticed which made me wonder. Can I ask what your first language is? I'm guessing given the way that you use English, your pronunciation of Japanese names and from your appearance that it's something Asian-based, but due to the modern multi-cultural world I could be wrong. Can I also ask why you chose an American accent as opposed to an English one? Or do you currently live (or have you spent time) in the United States?
This was great! It was a really fun watch, and I really like all of your retrospective videos. They're always a lot of fun. Quick Question, is there any chance we'll ever see a Sonic the Hedgehog retrospective? That's one that I've been wanting to see done right for a while Thanks for the videos :)
Next retrospective is Kingdom Hearts. I haven't played through the majority of the games, but I know what some lines in the riddle represent. Not to mention the theme of friendship is heavily toned in the riddle.
I liked Phantom Hourglass a lot...but a lot of people I know don't (as they think Spirit Tracks is better). It used everything the DS could throw at you (that closing the DS thing was a little tricky though). I guess I liked the Ocean Temple though XD
You freaking nailed my thoughts on casual gamers. Not dissing them really, but yeah. That's the mindset I imagine them having. :) Wish you were back girly!!
This whole series was very well done and researched! High fives to you for all of the hard work put into this. :)
Hi InkRose, i was wondering if you be interested in talking about the transformation of Time Turner, (aka Dr. Whooves) from a Pegasus into an earth pony
Little did we knew back then about the amazing game of Breath of the Wild.
We need a part 6 now. Hyrule Warriors BotW and so much more.
That riddle mystery is the foreshadowing of KINGDOM HEARTS. I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ARE DOING A KINGDOM HEARTS RETROSPECTIVE. I AM BEYOND EXCITED! THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
"And as for the Wii U...Who knows what exciting things are in store for us?"
... Delays... constant delays...

"you got through it" she says.
This entire 5 episode series was a delight. I enjoyed it all
I totally agree with Skyward Sword looking like a water painting. Great job on this series I can tell it was a ton of work! Thanks a lot!
Wonderful work Patricia, as always. Loved every second of this cunning series, glad I finally took a look at those after a brief rest from following your activities. At last I could get some lecturing about how did it all go with that "myserious game from Nintendo I never played".

this was awesome. as my name and picture suggests, i'm a HUGE Zelda fanatic. loved the retrospect!

The riddle resembles sora's plight, so I assume that the next retrospective will be on Kingdom Hearts.
Thanks for these 5 videos, I love you!
Great job patricia I really loved this retrospective from begining to end and I hope more people love these retrospectives as much as i do, Thank You
P.S.I'm excited for your next retrospective
Great video! This is truly the most comprehensive retrospectives I've ever seen! I'm so glad I found your channel. :)
Thank you for your wonderful videos about Zelda's history. I enjoyed every second of all 5 parts
You're welcome =)
***** My Dad likes Zelda
+TheGameDirect you're videos are by far my favorite on TH-cam now
stayed up till 2am watching all the parts, what a amazing trip! :D
I love that little song you play at the end of your videos. XD
Okay, Skyward Sword, I have some things to say about it. Personally, I'm in the camp that likes the game. I just found this channel last night and I loved this series!! absolutely found it amazing! thanks for the work and entertainment!
God bless. :)
Thank you for this fantastic presentation, It was very entertaining & educational.
Awesome job on ALL of these videos, keep it up !
yay been waiting for part 5 :) another great vid
07:00 'Smexy' Lol!
Absolutely amazing series! Excellent quality!
Wonderfully in-depth as usual! I loved the Zelda videos and always eagerly looked forward to them. Can't wait to see what's next!
Oh man, I cannot wait for the next retrospective!
Awesome videos as always.
Thanks. Ya, I see where you're coming from.
Amazing job with this whole project. Enforce I was really confused on the whole Legend of Zelda timeline. Most youtubers who make a series explaining the timeline throw in theories. I think overall this was a great series and If you should make the origins of the Pokemon series.
This was an awesome series on the Legend of Zelda, really enjoyed it!
Just finished binge watching this. Sooo informational! Thank you!
Been here through all parts!
I happen to have stumbled unto this when looking for newer information on the History of the Zelda series, and being a huge Zelda fan I have to say you have done a very solid job. Out of the many, many people who don't take the time to post, I am very much looking forward to future installments on this. Nicely done. :)
Out of curiosity, as I noticed you do read your comments and often respond; which are your most and least favorite Zelda titles?
I'm still somewhat new to actually PLAYING the Zelda series, but frankly I'm amazed that I never made it through the games I played as a kid. I officially started with Ocarina Of Time 3D and had a great sense of satisfaction once I beat it and regret selling my Gamecube with Wind Waker. As of right now, I'm kinda tempted to try Link Between Worlds and I'm hoping for Majora's Mask 3D! (Also, great videos! I'd love to see another Kingdom Hearts video!)
Awesome retrospective series! Can't wait for the next!
I watch right from the beginning. Anyways New Zelda coming out on the Wiii U.
This gameplay video was posted on Dec 5, 2014 on Nintendo's TH-cam channel called:
Wii U - The Legend of Zelda - Gameplay First Look from The Game Awards
You all need to see it!.
Kingdom Hearts, got it right after the first paragraph
Omg just finished watching every zelda one of yours back to pack. My mind want to explode with zelda knowledge. My first game i ever played was minish cap so that has to be my fav but im also giving others a shot as im new to this link adventure stuff :)
Awesome channel.. I loved going back in time and experiencing what gaming felt like back then. Please add one more video to this.. Botw. :)
Thank you so much for covering my favorite gaming series :)
Both Zelda and Metroid ls close to my heart!
Great work as always and i cant wait for...Kingdom Hearts? :D
Smexy? XD
6:01,GET THAT AWAY!!!NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
this was an amazing retrospective. thank you
If Hyrule Warriors and The Legend of Zelda U are released, will you do them as Part 6?? I would love that
Ya, we'll do a part 6 when more Zelda games come out.
Thanks :)
***** Wii U's Zelda will become released somewhen in 2015 :)
Here we are now with Hyrule Warriors, Breath of the Wild, and Breath of the Wild's upcoming sequel
I can't believe that I missed this upload! Amazing video. I think the next stream of videos will be about Kingdom Hearts, and I can't wait :).
I have really enjoyed this and your Metroid series :)
Kingdom Hearts
I really enjoyed watching all of your coverage on the Zelda series, I was a bit disappointed that you didn't cover the rest of the cut content from TWW (fully explorable overworld, an additional 4-6 dungeons, not 2), but other than that I've not seen a retrospective with such detail.
Can I ask, is English your first language?
English is my second language.
I'm rapidly becoming a fan of your videos by the way, I've not seen anything with as much attention detail or as thoroughly researched by anyone else.
groovygower Thanks a lot :)
***** You never mentionned what your first language is. Can I ask where you learned your impeccable English as well?
Can I ask when the next video is?
I think you should do part 6 because they are new Zelda titles
This was great! It was a really fun watch, and I really like all of your retrospective videos. They're always a lot of fun.
Quick Question, is there any chance we'll ever see a Sonic the Hedgehog retrospective? That's one that I've been wanting to see done right for a while
Thanks for the videos :)
Yea, eventually. Haven't decided when though. And you're welcome!
Please, could you consider doing a Pokémon retrospective :)
Since it's such a freaking big series, it's got to be kingdom hearts as the next video series. By the way, this is a awesome channel!
This was awesome! I really enjoy watching the videos you guys put together!! Great Work!! :D
Awesome retrospective, very, very good Job i hope one day you'd make a mass efect
You freaking nailed my thoughts on casual gamers. Not dissing them really, but yeah. That's the mindset I imagine them having. :) Wish you were back girly!!
I`ve watched every one! From chapter 1 to chapter 5! It was amazing TheGameDirect! Thanks! Gotta love Zelda! ^^
Awesome, you covered ALL the zelda games. It must take guts to talk about THAT game 0-0 "geez, it's sure boring around here!!"
You named your character SMEXY? How...appropriate.
Her next one is defiantly kingdom hearts. So excited!
loved your five part series, thanks
