What's amazing to me is that you have favourite piece of gear that you stick with for so long, since you must have sooo many upgrade options available to you at reduced costs or at least claimable as tax deductions!
For the Wave XLR and IEMs, the Elgato software actually has a low impedance mode now for lower impedance ear/headphones. Could give that a try, otherwise a ground loop isolator should do the trick as well in getting your IEMs to work.
You're reviews have seriously been an amazing journey for me since I think we share a lot of things when it comes to fps gaming, I also went custom mechanical keyboard but in a budget and I don't care about flexiness and such so I just got glorious gmmk pro and used the same switches you use, (lubed them myself) and it's been a game changer, like other things from yout channel. Thank you very much.
From what ive heard online and from friends is that if you clean your mousepad regularly as soon as you notice the bad spots, it actually works fine with the superglides again.
Audient Evo 4 output impedance is measured around 22ohms, which does well with headphones over 150ohms, the IE300 is 16ohms and therefore changes the frequency response when connected to the Audient Evo 4. I recommend the Motu M2 which output impedance is measured at 0.07ohms much better suites for low ohm IEM/Headphone.
5:47 It's due to the resistance/impedance of the IEMs. The resistance of the IEMs is higher than the wave XLR is able to output, creating white noise. On Elgato's wave xlr specs-page it reads: Maximum Headphone Port Output Level 77 mW @ 16 Ohm The IEMs I have checked out lately have a resistance of at least 30 ohms, meaning to power these IEMs, more power is required from the DAC/interface to the IEMs. As I understand it, its like putting a car in high gear (your IEMs resistance) at low speed (Your DACs resistance) and trying to get up a hill (Produces white noise because struggles). Your EVO 4's headphones out port supports up to 50 ohms, where the DAC output (on the back?) supports up to 100 ohms. I own a Roland VT-4 that I use for my setup, my headphones output support 24 ohms, meaning my KZ ZS10s produce some white noise while using it (these have a resistance of 30 ohms). The back of the VT-4 supports up to 1000 ohms, and while using the back I experience no white noise at all.
I have noticed a lot of white noise with the wave XLR using my thieaudio monarch mkIIs. I grabbed it when my motu m2 stopped working since it was available locally, but I really do need to swap it out. What is the point of having nice IEMs if everything sounds so messy
@@trench6118 Exactly. I'm glad I own my VT-4 interface with the support for higher impedance, else I'd have to invest in something else... Like you did, I experienced white noise while using the aux on the front, so I switched out my interface for the Scarlett Solo (2?), And these had less white noise but still noticeable when no audio is playing...
that mouse looks amazing for my taste. however, i need mouse buttons :/ also costs a ton but im sure its amazing. i currently have been using the mz1 and have been loving it for months. great video as always.
I own some hörluchs in ears, basically the same design as yours and it was a game changer for me as well. I'll never ever go back to over ear headsets.
Rich man setup😍 very clean but expensive asf too, but i know you're highly seasoned user, only a longtime editors/hardcore gamers use IEMs thats educated pick right there. only sponsored gamers and trend followers use "gaming" headsets, no one can actually put up with the hassle of using headsets, its heavy, tougher to move freely, leave marks if falls, and ruins your hair, ive been using in ear monitor around early 2010s never going back since.
Excellent and clean review as always. I would add a word of caution for those switching to in-ear earbuds for gaming. Some fps games have very loud spikes in the volume (gun shot, getting hit etc) which may consequently hurt some people's ear drum in the long run due to the enclosed nature of earbuds. I ended up with tinnitus from using earbuds and only recovered when discontinuing using them for like a month.
true. Those shots are hard and pointy. Very bad for the ears. I'm rocking the Apple Earbuds (3.5mm version) and that one has pretty good balance of a driver compared to my 2nd Sony earbuds. But if you can't handle the sound of it I think headset is the way to go. I'll probably get one that's suited for better spatial detection. Otherwise, earbuds sre plenty light.
I play a lot of CSGO, and I recommend you to use loudness equalization, it lower the high volume stuff and enhance the low volume stuff, you get both less disturbance from high volume sounds like rifles spray or AWP shots while enhancing far away steps and small noises, it feels almost like a cheat code for the sound profile of tactical FPS! (you might loose just a bit of spatiality, but nothing that will hinder your pin point precision)
If you’re serious about IEMs as mains you have to try customs. They’re so much more comfortable it’s not even funny. Worth the investment for comfort alone tbh. Custom art makes some fantastic CIEMs and the guy behind the company is very involved/talented at what he does.
If you want to soften the metallic sound signature of the Tofu, look up Keybored's 'spring mod', where he basically mounts the PCB on springs, almost like car suspension.
The white noise you’re hearing is the noise floor. Iems have a low impedance, which requires a low output impedance. This is why you hear the noise floor with iems and not your headphones. I may have butchered that explanation as I don’t completely understand all of the terminology myself.
I bought the kz zs10 pros after watching your other video on IEMs and I have absolutely fallen in love with them, I got some aftermarket tips and cable and I now have my endgame audio setup, I never thought I would use IEMs over headphones but you have changed my audio experience forever through that recommendation.
Good luck finding an aftermarket cable for the ie300. Sennheiser uses a deeper mmcx connector. The only way you’ll get an aftermarket cable to work is mod the ie300s by cutting off the red/blue rings. If you’ve already done that, then you should be ok with aftermarket cables
the keyboard i think is accualy a 65 %, REALLY nice set up really would like to have something kinda like it, and the matching black mate is really nice too, nice job!!
On my end: - Pro X Superlight - G915 TKL - Hien Soft XL - Audio Technica MSR7 - Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt (DAC) - Dualsense for those racing games and plataformers.
Tried out like seven mousepads for gpro superlight with superglides. Finally found the one that feels consistent everytime. Glorious air with a little pledge before gaming. Very low static friction for micro adjustments and nice glide with a touch of control.

Nice and perfectly clean setup as usual, but I have a little advice about the audio setup ! This is from the point of view of someone who's done 100+ audio setups for big creators in France & with countless different mics/gear/environments and processing demands: You said you wouldn't see yourself ever upgrading from the SM7B and I would strongly advise you to reconsider as it's gonna prevent you from simplifying your setup a great deal and improve the audio quality by a generous margin. I know this will surprise a lot of people but, but it turns out the SM7B is probably the worst mic you can get when it comes to regular spoken voices, and it's by far one of the worst for streaming. Its reputation is basically built around aggressive marketing, outright lies and misconceptions about its abilities (for example the background noise rejection myth) all of it spread by people that don't know better and recommend it by default (because everyone has it so it must be good) and they've never tested and properly setup any alternative (and compared!). It's a never ending feedback loop that really pains me. The truth is, its performance is terrible for this very scenario and you should have guessed it as you actually needed to add another component (the dynamite) for it to start to work nominally, and still you probably have more electronical hiss that you would have with any other mic, even among dynamics. (May I add that the Audient interface have a very low noise floor, making inline preamps basically useless, so you didn't need it and could just boost it by the same amount in post with similar performance). The same goes with the frequency response which is very narrow and unnatural, offering basically 1/10 of what's possible in terms of processing with tons of more modern alternatives even cheaper. Finally the background noise rejection of this mics is the same as any other mic with a similar polar pattern, including condensers, which are by far superior for this usage and, no, do not pick up more background noise (another physically impossible myth spread by people that never properly did the comparison, if at all 😅). I have countless audio engineering articles, studies, experiments that explain all of this very well but I don't think I can post links here, so if you're interested in more info about all this, alternatives and audio gear in general, find me on twitter and I'll gladly go into further details ! ❤🔥
@@robclark6947 Most condensers will do an overall better job, down to even Behringer knock offs or AT2020s, some more sturdy and broadcast oriented mics are the Rode Broadcaster, and on the more expensive side we have the Earthworks Icon Pros & Ethos mics, they were made for this very purpose and are absolutely un matched but fairly pricy (altho if you had the budget for the 7B and all the gear needed to correct that mistake, I would get and icon pro with the separate windshield + a semi decent interface and never look back, you'd have yourself the best mic in the world...) Else you have so many options, for condensers, you can slash the 7B price in two and get a neat NT1A or a LCT240, in between there's the C214 or LCT440 pure, they all come with cool compact shockmount and foams which is very convenient for broadcast/podcast use. To be fair any condenser will have a way more natural sound and way better signal to noise performance thanks to its sensitivity ******no matter******* the preamp/interface (say above 100$ for 1 to 2 channels), fancy expensive preamp can't fight physics and minimum theorical electrical noise but have a great marketing department. Also if someone tells you condensers pickup more background noise you can disregard their opinion, anyone serious has tested the theory and knows its false, and you want serious people to advise you on how to spend your hard earned money. I'm guilty of not doing any educational content on youtube altho I definitely should, but if you want some no BS stuff about audio, check out Julian Krause channel, he explains a lot of this stuff and will save you a great amount of money.
I have a pretty low budget and was thinking of getting the rode pod mic and the Scarlett solo 3rd gen. just from what I've read, you seem to know a lot about audio gear and was wondering if you could help me out. is that a good combo or would you recommend something else for that price point (roughly 250 usd).
@@itzrecklesss8719 to be honest I'd much rather buy a SM7B than a podmic, even tho I'd never buy a SM7B (well actually I have one already lmao). I don't exactly know what you're trying to do with this setup so I'm not sure which ergonomics you're going for, but If you're going for streaming/gaming and want to save tons of money and have a cool sound in an all in none package, get an Elgato Wave 1, Wavelink is awesome and the mic inside is a Lewitt (and their clipguard is just wizardry). I have a service to help my clients set up Wave devices with tons of custom features and processing, and they sometimes grab a second hand or refurbished Wave 1 for less than 100$ and end up having a better sound than 99,9% of twitch, including all of the cool kids with their unprocessed XLR microphones.

Your layout is so clean sir!!!
Good on you for sticking with what works.
Jesus this dude is insane at apex, casually wall bouncing and that beautiful r99 one clip
I also got ie300, picked em up after your vid btw, also very happy with them.
Though I had one issue with them, after a couple months audio just disappeared from one ear.
But in just a week I got a replace unit from sennheiser. So, if anything like that happens, be sure to contact their support)
I had the same problem iam in love with the iems but i had the same Problem 2 Times ...But luckily ordered through Amazon and it was always taken back. Am afraid to order them again to have the same problem again after a few days / weeks
Get IEMs with 2pins not the MMCx, i think what it is.
might be clogged filters?

What's amazing to me is that you have favourite piece of gear that you stick with for so long, since you must have sooo many upgrade options available to you at reduced costs or at least claimable as tax deductions!
For the Wave XLR and IEMs, the Elgato software actually has a low impedance mode now for lower impedance ear/headphones. Could give that a try, otherwise a ground loop isolator should do the trick as well in getting your IEMs to work.
damn that's a super clean black n white setup.
somehow this guy has a good looking setup AND he is a crazy competitive gamer
You're reviews have seriously been an amazing journey for me since I think we share a lot of things when it comes to fps gaming, I also went custom mechanical keyboard but in a budget and I don't care about flexiness and such so I just got glorious gmmk pro and used the same switches you use, (lubed them myself) and it's been a game changer, like other things from yout channel. Thank you very much.
Nice and simple, just how it should be. Looking good man!
From what ive heard online and from friends is that if you clean your mousepad regularly as soon as you notice the bad spots, it actually works fine with the superglides again.
Very interesting setup, by far the cleanest ever
Can we see your workout loadout? Cuz damn those guns are massive
On Elgato's wave xlr specs-page it reads:
Maximum Headphone Port Output Level
77 mW @ 16 Ohm
The IEMs I have checked out lately have a resistance of at least 30 ohms, meaning to power these IEMs, more power is required from the DAC/interface to the IEMs.

You should try the moondrop variations IEMs.
that mouse looks amazing for my taste. however, i need mouse buttons :/ also costs a ton but im sure its amazing. i currently have been using the mz1 and have been loving it for months. great video as always.

I own some hörluchs in ears, basically the same design as yours and it was a game changer for me as well. I'll never ever go back to over ear headsets.
love how people go like: omg the setup is so clean!!
bro there are like 4 items on the desk of course it looks clean
@@MrStarpeto good tip!
If you have your iems plugged into an amp you can adjust some of that high peak, so your ears don’t bleed every gunshot 😅
@@MrStarpeto It also ruins directional audio in 80% of games
If you’re serious about IEMs as mains you have to try customs. They’re so much more comfortable it’s not even funny. Worth the investment for comfort alone tbh. Custom art makes some fantastic CIEMs and the guy behind the company is very involved/talented at what he does.
If you want to soften the metallic sound signature of the Tofu, look up Keybored's 'spring mod', where he basically mounts the PCB on springs, almost like car suspension.

Little of topic, but your hairs looks so much better than last time i watched you!
Awesome quality vid as always Ali 🥰👍. Love ya work 🤯🤩
The white noise you’re hearing is the noise floor.
How good are they? I'm planning on getting some iems soon aswell

I love clean black and grey setups. I have a few RGB sources on mine but they're all set to blue.

I bought the IE300s on black frday for 150$ because of you! Thanks!
the keyboard i think is accualy a 65 %, REALLY nice set up really would like to have something kinda like it, and the matching black mate is really nice too, nice job!!

Tried out like seven mousepads for gpro superlight with superglides. Finally found the one that feels consistent everytime. Glorious air with a little pledge before gaming. Very low static friction for micro adjustments and nice glide with a touch of control.

If you could do your ergonomics for a new setup as well as updated desk setup that could be just amazing. I've watched a lot of vids and I can't find myself comfortable at all even by having amazing desk and chair. Thank you in advance
have really enjoyed discovering your channel, you're motivating me to build a new water-cooled mini-itx rig as an old-timer.
I did have questions on other pieces of gear we see:
1. what is the cool RGB light tube we see everywhere?
2. what monitor arms/mount do you use? does it allow for stacking?
3. what microphone do you use to record your videos? The quality is amazing, I believe I've seen Sennheiser?
4. what lighting do you use?
5. what video camera are you leveraging?
Thanks again, have truly enjoyed your content!
Second and love the content keep it up! ❤️
Love how you call it a “loadout”.
What’s your bicep setup?? 😮
Great video btw!!
Nice and perfectly clean setup as usual, but I have a little advice about the audio setup !
This is from the point of view of someone who's done 100+ audio setups for big creators in France & with countless different mics/gear/environments and processing demands:
You said you wouldn't see yourself ever upgrading from the SM7B and I would strongly advise you to reconsider as it's gonna prevent you from simplifying your setup a great deal and improve the audio quality by a generous margin.
So what alternatives would you recommend?
@@robclark6947 Most condensers will do an overall better job, down to even Behringer knock offs or AT2020s, some more sturdy and broadcast oriented mics are the Rode Broadcaster, and on the more expensive side we have the Earthworks Icon Pros & Ethos mics, they were made for this very purpose and are absolutely un matched but fairly pricy (altho if you had the budget for the 7B and all the gear needed to correct that mistake, I would get and icon pro with the separate windshield + a semi decent interface and never look back, you'd have yourself the best mic in the world...)
Else you have so many options, for condensers, you can slash the 7B price in two and get a neat NT1A or a LCT240, in between there's the C214 or LCT440 pure, they all come with cool compact shockmount and foams which is very convenient for broadcast/podcast use.
We need you to save us from the marketing buzzwords Leo 🙏 😉 I was thinking of getting a re20 this black friday and get a while audio setup done.
Love it! That mouse looks nuts… definitely a hands on experience needed lol
Definitely in need of a new mouse pad though
Was gonna say you should try a polycarb in your tofu, and then you went ahead and said the same thing. I find it perfect for that board, especially with some oil kings
The ie 600's are substantially substantially better tho man ngl. You're satisfied until you realize just how much better it can get.
I've had a few pairs of Shure se215 iems which have a similar rotating connector to yours. All had the same issue. Have now moved onto various kz earphones with the non-rotating cable and it's much better.
and they sound amazing. Can't get over how great IEMs sound. Reason why musicians use them.
@@poeticsilence047 Musicians use IEMs because of sound isolation (they're often custom-molded) and their unobtrusive look on stage. IEMs don't have inherently better sound quality than over-ear headphones.
@@SatchmoBronson My mistake. I should have know better especially since I also have over the ear headphones that I love. Lol
Having the whole Sennheiser IEM lineup i can say you should try the IE900 for sure. These basically made everything else obsolete for me and they are basically the perfect version of the IE300. Its expensive yeah but it brings joy to me every day. More then anything else in my setup i would say
hey man i been using oer the eas senhesier for years and really like them . im looking in to iems , how does the sound compare to the big boys ?

Such a mad setup
2:14 the bane of a lot of mousepads/mouse skates
The "iFi iEMatch" lineup I think could solve that white noise issue for you.
The in-ear monitors are good.
Always make sure to clean the mmcx connector for iems they'll get dirty the connection will be bad over a few months of use.
