    Great Video!
    One thing I loved in Fallen Order was the chit-chat between Stormtroopers, in Survivor they've dialled it up to 11. It feels so rewarding waiting on the conversation to finish but it keeps going to a hilarious conclusion. It's like real people and droids going about their business before I brutally dismember them with immense, unfathomable power.

      The battledroids have some of the best one liners when you force them around. I enjoy pulling them to me, then YEET them off a ledge to their death. Some of my favorites so far have been:
      "This isn't right!"
      "Hello!" *gets thrown* "Wait NOOOOO!"
      "Help! HEEEEELP!" *gets thrown* "You scum!"
      "What... What is thiiiis?!"
      There's also a pretty rare animation where sometimes when a droid tries to throw a grenade at you, but starts to drop it, ends up juggling it then catches it just before it explodes and looks right at you before it gets blown up. This game is pure gold.

    One thing i want to point out, dagans motive IS fleshed out. He discovered a safe haven of a planet that couldve been huge for the jedi order, he rallied to get it to the counsil to decide on the fate of the planet, theyre attacked and rather than fight for what dagan worked so hard for they abandon it. Dagan decides to go to tanalorr alone and the person he trusted most CUTS HIS ARM OFF AND LOCKS HIM IN A TANK. The next time he wakes up everything he knew is gone, the last thing he experienced was his dream being crushed and being attacked by his friend now the order is gone and the sith are jn power and he wasnt there to do anything. His frustration turned him and the only thing he has left is that small hope of tanalorr, he has nothing left to lose.

      He's still boring, though. Fallen Order had much cooler villains. Dagan and Rayvis feel like random side characters, not proper antagonists. Neither of them even has a real conflict with Cal. Cal just stumbles into them and the conflict feels extremely forced. Dagan's hostility towards Cal doesn't even make sense. Why tf would he blame some random Jedi for the things other people did 200 years ago? It's dumb. As far as Dagan knew, Cal saved him and could be a useful ally. And Rayvis is just Dagan's sidekick basically. His conflict with Cal is even more forced.

      @@CinematicSeriesGaming I can see your point, but I’m sure if you give the High Republic comics a try, it might peak your interest more into Dagan and the Jedi Order of the High Republic era. May not be as iconic as the Old Republic, but the comics do a solid job showing how the Jedi Order flourished during the high republic, with pretty much all the Jedi rocking white and gold and the lightsaber designs in the comics are also very nice, contrasting their clothing style 👍👍

    • @CinematicSeriesGaming
      @CinematicSeriesGaming ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@BraydenMartin-r7u Their design is fine. I just find their stories boring and not engaging. I don't think that a blockbuster piece of media like a movie or a triple-A videogame should ever rely on supplementary material like a book or a comic to tell an interesting story. If Jedi Survivor wanted to tell an interesting story about Dagan, that's great. Should have made Dagan an interesting antagonist then! Show more of him! Make his motivations understandable and interesting. Create a conflict that feels natural, not forced. I finished the game and found almost all optional force echoes and I'm still not sure what Dagan wanted to accomplish, why he was so hostile towards Cal and how exactly he was going to fight the Empire. This dude woke up from a 200-year-long coma and decided to immediately turn to the dark side, fight the person who saved him and build some secret evil academy on Tanalorr to fight the Empire. Why? He doesn't even know anything about the Empire yet. For all he knows, he could like the Empire cuz it destroyed the Jedi Order that mistreated him.

It was pretty easy to figure out which stances are the best but not having enough skill points to up the trees for all the stances is making the saber strikes redundant visually. There is a mod that lets you use 5 stances at any time and it's not "overwhelming" at all. It makes combat 10 times more fun and it makes progression more meaningful because you never feel like you're investing points into a stance you never use. There is nothing more satisfying than skillfully alternating between different stances during a boss fight. I think limiting active stances to two was a massive design mistake by Respawn. It makes no sense and it creates a few different problems:
    1. It makes the combat less varied than it could be, which is a massive problem when each stance has only a couple special moves and no real "combos" to speak of. This limitation is probably the reason why we don't have any cool transition moves like we did in Fallen Order. If we could have all 5 stances equipped, I bet there would be some bada$$ combos that make Cal swap stances mid-attack.
    2. It ensures all stances are kind of generic and lack depth. A system like in Ghost of Tsushima where you have to adjust your stance to counter a specific enemy would be much better. Notice that there are basically no enemies that require a specific stance to defeat. Sure, it's easier to kill a probe droid by rapidly deflecting bolts with a double-bladed saber, but you can do that with a single blade too, albeit not as fast.
    3. It ruins the progression system. Every single time you invest a skill point in a stance that's not your main, it feels like you're wasting a point. Why? Because your acquired skills are useless when you can't use them! Having all 5 stances available makes the progression system more rewarding and more interesting.
    4. It ties the hands of the developers and prohibits them from incorporating stances into traversal or puzzles. Think about it. Cal has a blaster and it could be a fantastic tool used for a lot of creative puzzle sections or traversal abilities. You could shoot buttons and consoles from afar, you could blow up explosive tanks to unlock new paths, you could shoot pieces of environment to make them fall on enemies' heads. So much potential! But because the player is limited to just 2 stances and CAN NOT HAVE THE BLASTER EQUIPPED AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT, the blaster just can't be used in a creative way like this. Instead it's just an alternative combat method that feels superfluous at times.
    Imagine how dumb God of War would be if you could equip only one weapon at a time: Blades of Chaos OR the Leviathan Axe. It would completely ruin the sense of progression and the fantasy of getting stronger. This is exactly how Jedi Survivor feels. I get a cool new crossguard stance or a blaster stance but suddenly I can't use the regular blade, the staff stance or the cool dual stance and all my skills acquired until this point become useless. WHY? It's dumb and it makes no sense.

  • @nomic655
    @nomic655 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Dagan's motive is fleshed out, as another commented noted.
    The Force meter actually makes sense both gameplay wise and lore wise. Most of Cal's special attacks would be impossible to do if he wasn't a Force user, and by forcing the player to mix normal attacks that fill the Force meter and special attacks that drain it you ensure each battle is won with skill and not spamming special attacks. Afterall, special attacks are far more important in combat than Force powers themselves. Afterall, using the Force for lethal combat is much more taxing for the user than non combat related uses. The only complaint I had was with the toggle pull option, as it didn't really seem to do what it was intended for, both in traversal and combat related usage.
    I did actually spend a lot of time exploring areas and getting skill points, not completing everything though, until after Dagan's death when the story was too compelling for me to stop, without ever freefarming. I ended up with enough skillpoints to max out the Force and Health trees and 4/5 stance trees, while frequently switching around the single, double, dual and blaster stances. I was more than satisfied with the stance options by the end of the game. I don't know if you skipped out on exploration completely but you should've disclosed that before saying that you ended up with half the necessary skillpoints to complete all the trees.
    The thing about the probe droids is that they're designed to be annoying, possibly more than other enemies with ranged attacks. But, if you actually spend skillpoints upgrading Force pull you have a lot more options, even using probe droids as throwable explosives. And there is also an upgrade to slice them, like in Fallen Order. This is why you should explore around and not critique a game if you simply speedrun it's story.
    The reason you can't use all 5 stances at a time is because it would be too complicated to change them on a controller. And even so, each stance is unique and you can't expect each stance to have the same attack on the same button. While I don't necessarily agree with the dual wield's defensive attack as a design choice, I can't agree with you in saying that switching stances punishes you. Note that with Survivor's 5 new stances, 5 switching attacks would be nowhere near enough for the game, as each stance needs a switch attack for 4 other stances, making up for (I think) 20 different switching attacks. If I was a dev, I'd rather you back up and swich stances.

      To me, it's contrast. It provides an interesting journey and I thoroughly enjoy the story as a Star Wars fan. But there are some many things could be more and this game is just not reaching that height. It could have 1-2 years more of development and providing us in depth combat, exploration and more, rather than few linears planets, 1 medium planet of Jedha with limited exploration, and Koboh with above medium size.
      There is no surprise when I explore these planets, go there, do x y z, backtracking when I unlock new abilities to go throuh the barrier, etc. Imagine a game like Zelda where there is a surprise every corner I turn to, each players with different experience despite having same character.
      The game is fun and good, for the first run, after at least 80% of the first playthrough, there is simply nothing much to be excited about the 2nd playthrough as it will be the same. Definitely not worth GOTY imo.

    Beating this game on Grandmaster really drove to home how much certain animation cancels are needed, because yeesh.. too easy of deaths at times.
    That said, I don't think I'm nearly as hard on certain aspects of this game, namely the combat, as I ultimately had a great time and didn't care all that much about the lack of stance switching as a big thing this time around. I typically stuck with Dual Wield and Blaster Stance most of all, and the only reasons I ever switched between the two was balancing where to pool my resources. Honestly, the more I explored of what was available, the more I enjoyed the overall experience.
    I'll admit, though, I agree that Dagan Gera was a one-note villain and that Rayvis was far more interesting, despite being underutilized. That said, I do like where it all leads to, and I am appreciative that the spoiler was kept out. Because I do genuinely love the third act for it all, including giving us one of the coolest boss sequences I've seen since Nioh 2 (my own "soulslike" favorite). Even if the final boss in particular was far too frustrating for my own good, leaving me every temptation to bring it down to Master until I decided to be more patient in the third phase where I'd win.
    So far, performance issues aside, certain frustrations with the hardest difficulty aside, maxed out potential not reached aside, one-note built-up villain aside, this is my GOTY. I loved the cast of characters on display. Cal went from a fairly bland protagonist in Fallen Order to being confident and complex in Survivor. And while Trilla was easily the best character to come around not only in Fallen Order, but possibly the sum of both games, Survivor is supplemented by great, memorable new characters. And, above all else, I was just simply having a lot of fun, and the game encouraged me to have fun. Everything you said about the combat system has resonated with me immensely when it came to my experience with Fallen Order. The force meter felt far too stingy, and I always felt hamstrung during advanced combat in that game. Of all things to double down on, I hoped Respawn wouldn't in the sequel. Fortunately the PC version actually has a mod that lets switch between all 5 stances, so I think I'll be using it + partial force meter cheats. A bit of a shame, but hey - PC gaming for me means being able to tailor my single player gaming experience to be what I like it to be.

    This is a great review and even though I feel most of the criticism about the combat is nitpicky, many of your points have something going for them. Essentially, I think most of what you mention is a choice due to the gameplay the Jedi series aims for. Although being compared to Sekiro, where being as aggressive as possible is preferred, the Jedi series seems to focus more on predicting and reacting to enemy attacks, which seems much more in line with how a Jedi would fight (Patiently, but with determination). But I think that there's also an element of realism being incorporated with the stance switching animations and lack of warnings about enemy attacks from the rear. I've seen quite a few videos with experts reacting and saying that Survivor saber combat references real life martial arts after all, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

    The only thing I wish they had was more planets instead of reusing Koboh so much. I’m a player that once I finish the story I just turn off to the game completely-even when there’s DLC to be honest-so I want to explore as much as I can as soon as I’m near it. But with this game, much of what you see is blocked off in random spots here and there until roughly 85% through where it’s actually fully explorae, but by that point the story had kicked up too much for me to want to go explore. I think if they just had more planets that you could discover as you gain new abilities, and then larger borders on previous planets that you need these late game abilities to access rather than them just being scattered throughout would remove the feeling of “I’m going to go here just to find more shit I can’t do” that I got on Koboh. It’s open at the end and it’s honestly not that bad if you’re not a “when the story is done I am” person. Also, having to come back to the bounty quest giver every time was very tedious to me since you had to go back to Koboh every time. I would’ve much preferred just accessing it from the ship.
    However, outside of those little overblown gripes I think they improved upon the first game vastly. Exploration, combat, cosmetics, and the story to me is just as good although i did have a decent amount of spoilers. But even those spoilers didn’t just kill the moments because of how well they were crafted. Overall I love this game, and it makes me extremely excited for the next game because this is building to be the best trilogy we’ve ever seen in George Lucas’ galaxy. I had a blast.

    Both Fallen Order and Survivor play MUCH better once you KNOW where everything is at. You need that knowledge to get the FULL immersion experience, and notice the exquisite details of each arrow.
    The GOOD thing about Survivor, is THE MORE I play it, the more I enjoy it. I'm about 100 hours in, (I've spent about 185 hours in Fallen Order) in efforts to get to that mastery of hardest difficulty/play style with EXPERT, "can't touch me" skill.
    I even love the gardening feature, and post-completion activities.
    There's obviously some things I wish were better, but 100 hours in, and I'm still learning things, and have not yet reached the skill ceiling I am aiming for. For such a simple game on casual play, it's VERY challenging when made to be, yet allows you to be invincible if you execute perfectly.
    I also like that they allowed you to disable fall damage, for those annoying undeserved falls, and the "auto-win" on button mashing, which allows you to keep the immersive experience without the pulsing "x" button on the screen.
    Disable the entire HUD, and you're in it.
    I have one save that I complete the game on 13.5 hours, and my 100% game that has 56 hours.
    There's a lot of versatility to play with, and play styles to master.
    Getting through the last room before you reach the array control center UNTOUCHED on Grand-Master is one of the funnest video game experiences I've felt.

      Too mention them once at the start and too better recommend people to wait for patches is a welcome addition to any Review talking about this game.
      They rushed the development and than the turn around and try to blame our poor Pc settings. Hah?
      I don't know why you take offence with a simple warning.

    You said that the lack of a stamina system sets it apart from the game that inspired the combat system. But the combat system is clearly inspired by Sekiro, which also doesn't have a stamina bar.
    edit: you also say that normal attacks don't deplete enemy block bars. But they do, as long as the enemy is trying to block your attack. It's the same with special moves.

    • @ZOROJURO2442

      It's nothing like Sekiro and you can't break any enemies posture, which is slightly different then breaking their guard. Also on the hardest difficulty you don't need to guard break. You can one shot bosses. Also Sekiro came out after Fallen order by atleast a year

      @@ZOROJURO2442 So it's nothing like Sekiro but breaking guard is only slightly different from breaking posture?
      Which bosses in Fallen Order can be one shot? And why does this matter for the comparison with Sekiro?

    • @ZOROJURO2442
      @ZOROJURO2442 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Flying Fox Fallen Order: November 15, 2019. Sekiro: March 2019. In Jedi survivor you have to do atleast three hits to break someone's guard meter, you can still do damage even without breaking guard. I killed a boss this way. In Sekiro you have to perfect parry twice in order to break an enemies posture in order to even hit/kill them. If you want to know which bosses you can one shot, play on the hardest difficulty and find out.

    • @FlyingFox86
      @FlyingFox86 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZOROJURO2442 So Fallen Order came out more than 7 months after Sekiro. November comes after March.
      Did you actually play either Sekiro or Fallen Order? There is no such thing as needing at least 3 hits to break the guard in Survivor. Some enemies have their guard broken with a single hit.
      You can still do damage without breaking posture in Sekiro as well, and the amount of hits you need to do the break posture/guard depends on the enemy in both games.
      There is no such thing as having to perfect parry twice before being able to damage an enemy in Sekiro. The amount of parries needed to fully drain the posture meter depends on the enemy, and that posture meter can also be depleted by hitting a blocking enemy. Or it can be completely bypassed by directly depleting the health bar. Though the most effective tactic is a combination of all three options.
      It's the same in Fallen Order and Survivor. However, those games you have more options to completely bypass the guard meter and for some enemies it is basically irrelevant. The other main difference is that attacking after you break posture does a special move that depletes one entire healthbar in Sekiro, while in the Jedi games it merely allows some free hits.
      So the basic principle of a block/posture bar that gets depleted by attacking a blocking enemy and parrying is the same with both games, which is why they are so often compared.
      There is no boss you can one shot on the hardest difficulty in Fallen Order. Maybe Rick in Survivor.
      edit: unless you are talking about some minor bosses that you can throw off a cliff. Technically, you can do that in Sekiro as well, though that clearly wasn't the intention.

    • @ZOROJURO2442
      @ZOROJURO2442 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Flying Fox I don't throw people off cliffs, I break them. I have a platinum in all 3 of these games. I played them quite a bit. Maybe Sekiro feels the same to you because of how you play, and that's fair. But these 2 games are night and day. Take away the slow swings and meditation points and these games have nothing in common other than damage output and loss upon death. I get why people compare then, but the similarities are artificial. They both lack what really defines Darksouls so I guess I never saw how these games were the same. I was wrong about the dates but Fallen Order is not inspired by Sekiro and maybe the bosses I one shotted were a glitch. Also I have game play footage of me breaking people's guard to test lightsabers on each difficulty and there are rules for guard break. It's about how hard and how often you swing at them, and there's punish for not breaking guard on the 3rd swing. I didn't compare the guard break to posture, since guard break is a basic concept in a lot videogames that use the logic of punch until enemy is vulnerable which is absolutely a rule in Survivor and not Sekiro

    Map giving all the means not to get lost - true, saved me many times. Lack of backtracking in Survivor lead me to actual mindfucks, becouse I wouldn't think they really would want me to continue forward after countless games where boring backtracking was mandatory. It was so fresh and relieving experience.
    I was very afraid of platforming as someone who always failed any parkour challanges in any game since I started gaming at all.I was positively surprised that the regular progress on the map is very noob friendly. Very clean, fluent, flowing experience. Only the Force tears are a nightmare. I gave up on them right at the 1st one on Koboh.
    Right now the main problem for me is how it runs. In 20 FPS, with screen freeze here and there. Patches fixed a bit, especially stuttering in cutscenes that could draw FPS to 0. I reached the main story mission in Rocky Spires and I can't progress further. Each time I do a couple of puzzles the game stops responding and I need to terminate the task. And it loads from last savepoint, so I can do all the puzzles again, and freeze a bit further down this location. Or a little bit sooner than before, depends on how the game decides. Things like that can discourage to play even the best story, the most liked character and the best fighting animations there are out there.

But the story, gameplay and narrative and everything else was perfect for me. I really loved rayvis amd dagan. Rayvis was immediately my favorite after his boss fight, I just love these kinds of characters who are honorable and just want a warriors death samurai type. He may seem evil but he was a real warrior and I had huge respect for him. Dagan gera was so cool. Aside from his story which I had No problem with. But some people hate. He was just badass, He literally overpowered cal and bode in every fight. Bode had secret powers and cal had bd1 and 5 different stances, and this man drove cal to the dark side with one hand. Like he created a f*cking force arm. His powers were super cool and he really was top of his game. I think he would beat most cannon star wars Characters. And then finally bode. Bode's storyline was done perfectly, and his betrayel hit so hard but it made the game really better, he was a father who was blinded.. what he did was wrong but he really cared for cal in many ways. And the final boss was done perfectly. Cere's death broke me but she went out like a chad. She literally held off against darth vader and really gave him a hard time, even vader respected her. And she wasn't no obi wan or luke. She really was a master.

    Totally agree that Cal’s “special attacks” shouldn’t use up force energy. Reminds me of Sekiro and the spirit emblems. Why do I have to utilize spirit energy to swing an axe or throw a shuriken? Why do I have to employ the force to swing a lightsaber *slightly* differently..?
    Also, not being able to swap through all 5 stances is lame. I get that it might be complicated, but if you spend enough time with each stance, you’re going to get it down. And there’s the option to train with each stance to help you memorize the different styles. Would Cal be really be too OP if he could switch between all 5? Because I have all the tools on my belt rn anyway lol

  • @Richard_Frost
    @Richard_Frost ปีที่แล้ว

    A great break down, but that's not actually what's happening with the double jump fail! It's not latency in the second jump, it's actually a bug where if you spammed the jump button or even just hit it more than once for the initial jump, it immediately does the "second" jump instead of the normal first jump leaving you without the ability to jump again. You can tell when it does this as Cal does a flip in the air immediately instead of the normal jump, as he only does the flip when the "second" jump is activated.
    It also sometimes happens because it registers the initial jump twice immediately causing the double jump, so even if you didn't hit the jump button more than once, the jump you get is the "second" jump still.
    It's super apparent when this happens over a big drop because you can spam the jump button trying to get that second jump, but it's already be spent, as well as the flip mid air which only happens after the double jump has been triggered.

    I disagree with the idea that the d-pad is a bad way to switch weapons...ultimately you are sacrificing a high priority input for something that shouldn't be all that common in combat if you are using face buttons or triggers. I also find that the most common alternative, the weapon ring from games like rockstar made games or something similar like in the newer Zelda games, which dramatically detracts from my personal immersion in combat. While I believe the sheer number available options in Zelda make it such a system more desirable, I don't believe menu based inputs, that give you free time to think while slowing down combat, are necessarily always the correct way to go about it. A brief and momentary lack of movement controls (for the average player that doesn't use claw grips) actually forces you to plan and calculate an opening, and this isn't strictly a bad thing for a game that is focused on measured combat. This to me makes it feel like another move in the real time chess match of third-person, lock-on, action combat games. Personally I am a fan of the dpad weapon swap in this kind of game. Every one is entitled to their own opinions about things but I feel as though it is certainly not such a negative thing that it "should have died with dark souls 1". Just like you mentioned later in the video there are trade offs for design decisions and it isn't that simple.
    My largest gripe with the combat of this series is that the dodge feels incredibly unreliable, and the enemy attacks can feel extremely magnetic (locks on to you to an unreasonable extent) and floaty. I love souls games, and enjoyed sekiro (even while it beat the dodge focused gameplay out of me and I learned to stop relying on it). I am not against struggle and overcoming difficulty, but with the level of refinement of the combat in this series often find myself enjoying it much more after having given up on trying to play it on the harder difficulty settings, as failure in this game far more often feels unjust when compared to other games.

    i think the best thing to add for the 3rd game (and some may disagree, i understand how it can work but also how it can’t) would be to add more player choice. go the Black Ops 2 route and give Cal the option to kill or spare certain story characters and add multiple endings to the canon. could be really troublesome but also could be cool.

    I loved this game and actually agreed and appreciated this video. But the idea that the Probe droids are hard to fight and "Force pull resistant" is ludicrous. They are very easy to force pull and hack/kill. You can even damage them, grab and throw them as a bomb at enemies. And yes, I played this game through on Knight and Master so I wasn't on Easy mode.

    The second jump lag and lack of animation canceling is SUPER annoying even still, 3 weeks later with over 100 hours into the game and more than two play throughs. The jump input is the most frustrating part though, that one little mechanic alone had me almost rage quit the game when I'd spend about an hour trying to complete one of those obstacle course Force Tears, and there were two really hard ones, each took at least an hour. Too many times I thought I inputted the command to double jump correctly in the middle of high intensity and fast paced traversal set piece, only to have Cal half-ass a bunny hop and fall to his death and force me to start all over again from the beginning.
    Aside from this, it feels outrageous that there HAS to be a definitive animation for BD to toss Cal a stem, Cal to catch it, and jab it in his arm in order to heal. Sure there's a skill you can unlock pretty early that makes this animation play out faster, but even that often times takes way too long when you're in a pinch fighting three bosses at once. What's even worse about it is that it almost always gets interrupted, if Cal gets hit during the healing animation, it won't complete the process and 9 times out of 10, this gets you killed. In order to heal in this game, you have to basically stop moving completely, press the heal button, and let the animation play out in it's entirety in order to receive the heal. If you try to quickly weave attacks in between the heal command, Cal interrupts his own healing process and the animation won't finish, resulting in another dead Cal. Your only option is to back as far away from any enemies as possible and pray no one hits you as you attempt to heal, but this too is problematic because most of the bosses in this game are LARGE and cover great distances very quickly. The only real solution I found to this massive and ridiculous issue, is to double jump away from the enemy and press the heal button while in the air. Then insert double jump lag timer and chuck your controller across the room out of frustration.
    Those two issues are my only real frustrations with the game though. I still cannot quit playing it and have a blast with it. Respawn just desperately needs to change these two things in the third game. Other than that, this is one of my favorite games of all time even though I know it's not perfect, and I cannot wait for what's next.

    This is a thoroughly excellent critique. Well thought out, and though I don't agree with everything you have to say (1. I much preferred Fallen Order's tight level design (though NOT the backtracking) to Survivor's overlarge empty aimlessness and 2. especially regarding needing to open the map to see how to progress - I find Survivor much more of an offender here than Fallen Order), you've done a much better job of articulating where I felt the game came up short than I ever could.

    I really appreciate a lot of your points about combat, in particular, the stance switching and what the realistic difficulties it presents. You also make a great point about off-screen indicators in GoW and how helpful some form of that system should be included in the sequel. They could leverage BD to make callouts and maybe have him move left and right to signal an attack is incoming. Just a thought, not fleshed out. Attacks from the rear would still be difficult to perceive.
    One thing you may have missed in Jedi Survivor, one stance DOES allow attack-cancels and it's the dual-wield stance. You can dodge and parry mid-attack. It might be the best stance in the game due to this. I would like to see this come to the other stance.

    • @isplat927

      The force could be a way to implement the GOW off screen indicators thing considering that’s like one of the first things we learn about it, small precognition that allows them to deflect blaster bolts.

    • @hummit23
      @hummit23 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@isplat927 absolutely. I think the reason they don’t do visual indicators similar to GoW is visual clutter. The Jedi series has a very clean/simple aesthetic. If you suddenly implement directional indicators like GoW, that directly conflicts with their style. That was why I suggested BD. It would maintain their visual style while still communicating important info to the player.
      The Force makes much more sense from a lore perspective, but representing a warning through the Force would be tricky.

    Okay. Rather than the level and world design improving, I think this is more of a case of you in particular getting better at reading the developer's intent.
    I've been playing the game myself on top of watching a handful of streamers play the game as well. The level design is actually still pretty unintuitive. They have to constantly try to find their way and read the minimap over and over. I absolutely don't think the world is better designed at all. At the very least, I found myself going back to the minimap every time I cleared a mob.

    Not far into the video just yet. But I don't think a detailed explanation of why the group split is necessary tbh. Sometimes people just need different things. As the game progresses it seems pretty clear that Greeze, Cere and Merrin wanted to move on and find a place for themselves in the galaxy. And Cal needed to be in the trenches, because fighting the empire is the only thing he felt he could and should be doing. The other three couldn't stay by his side and get what they wanted/needed so they went their seperate ways. It never seems like they ended on terrible terms, because there's no hostility in anyone. It's more like they all regret needing to go their own ways.

    The only gripe I have with this game is the PC performance, but that's a huge issue. It is basically unplayable on PC which is pretty bad for a $70 USD game that's been out for weeks now. I suspect a lot of people are going to be leery of pre-ordering future EA titles after this disaster.
