I remember being so frustrated that my 4080 build couldn’t hold 60 fps. I had to patch in Frame Gen support and it still had awful performance. Ruined an otherwise great game
I couldn't maintain 60fps with a 4090. Was so infuriating.
@@GameOverloadMO How was performance on your second playthru? I heard it was fixed on console but is it still shoddy on PC?
for me its very good , i complete 100 new game , i complete 100 % new game plus , and now appear to me me new game ++
10x better. Minor stutters here and there but nothing major at all.
Fun detail: Cere didn't die in Cal's arms, he arrived a good bit later and the entire time we play as her is a force echo Cal is sensing after finding her body. You can tell from the flames vanishing instantly after Cere dies, as well as the distortion at the edges of the screen while Cal is holding her that goes away with the flames
dont tell me cere died alone…
I felt it was a force bond between the two. Cere talked to Cal in real time through the force and this cant be done in an echo.
@@zangetsueeshe didn’t. She said “Cal” and “Trilla”, meaning that she was just thinking of her apprentices in her final moments
@@legoverse1412 thats not how I saw it tbh. She clearly saw him and interacted with him. Besides Cal was never able to touch much less hold anyone or anything in a force echo
This isn’t a bad theory as Cere knew cal could sense echos so she left him the message and cal was holding Ceres body after her death which could have held the echo. But at the end Cal can hear Cere through the force so I’m sure he just was able to feel her passing.
The Cletus Kestis look is wild for all the dramatic scenes 😂
Cletus Kestis is the goat
I rocked the Mohawk and handlebar mustache
more like Kestis Conner 💀
The only hairstyle I used hahaha
THAT WAS A YEAR AGO BRO TIME FLIES I FLET LIKE I GOT THIS GAME YESTERDAY
Soon we will all be dead
FOR REAL
Bro tell me about it, I pre-ordered it and TILL THIS DAY have less than 5 minutes of gameplay 😭 life, man
I flet exactly the same
@@jsrocker248 idiot
I feel like the late reviews of games are better because by then all the hype has died down and you can look at the game more critically and not be influenced by the high you’re riding of a first time playthrough.
100% that's why I love doing these kinds of videos. You get to remove hype from the equation and keep a level headed approach.
@@GameOverloadMOhonestly I wish i didn't get it at launch and I got it leaked after I pre ordered still loved the combat but the story just did nothing because I knew going in what was happening
*look at the game objectively enough
I’d disagree, a story game can only be judged truly by the first time you play and experience the twists and turns, along with learning the new combat and finding all the new customization items. Going through and doing it for a second time isn’t the same at all and of course it’s not going to be as good because the excitement and the freshness isn’t there anymore.
@@TheRed_wingskill issue
16:35 when Bode gives cal the advice to pursue merrin i actually didn't think there was anything weird about it because the game let's you know multiple times that Bode is a father, which one can only become through a romantic relationship (usually). So I figured he was just alluding to how his relationship led to his daughter whom he very obviously cares for so it was all worth it. Thus, he was paying it forward saying that those relationships are always worth it
I caught on to bode when he took that left turn at the beginning
the Coruscant is so stunning, a Cyberpunk open world game with that setting is the ultimate dream
Crazy how we could’ve had that very game, if not for disney
Disney would never allow it but an 18+ game like cyberpunk set in star wars would be amazing
If only Star Wars 1313 wasn’t cancelled.
I absolutely fell in love with Fallen Order when I first played it in 2019 because I was growing up at the time, I was a senior in high school and I was fighting some demons and was uncertain about my future. Cere's quote was my saving grace: "We will always struggle, but that is the test. It's the choice to keep fighting that makes us who we are.” That game saved me. When Survivor came out last year the story didn't really resonate with me at the time. But just a few weeks ago I built my first gaming PC and replayed this game. Performance issues aside this game really resonated with me this time around. I literally sobbed at the end where Cal is reflecting over Cere's grave. It's been a hard year for me, trying my hardest to make it as an adult and feeling like I'm not good enough, fighting my own dark side and being on the verge of destruction, and just barely keeping it at bay. Some days its all I can do just to complete basic daily tasks. Cal's progression in this game simply paralleled my own in something so poetic and personal that it struck a deep chord with me. The Hero's Journey story is what Star Wars has always been about since 1977, it makes everything so relatable and reachable. I play these games because of the story. These games have changed my life. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Great Ted talk! It’s been the same for me except I’ve been an adult for a little longer and yeah buddy it’s hard and it’s always difficult not to be selfish and make the best decisions. In the end it’s always better to let go of hate and and anger towards the things we can’t control and just focus on the things we can and the people and relationships that will help you reach your full potential. Star Wars literally saves lives and I’m here for it.
Bode's betrayal truly shocked me. You could tell he never wanted to do it, but he had to, and his death was really sad for me and another character I really liked was Rayvis he was a honorable warrior and on grandmaster it took me like 10 tries to win him and Vader were easily the hardest story boss fights I liked Rayvis because the end of his story was good the best characters in the game are Rayvis Bode and well obviously Darth Vader himself
i saw it coming from the beginning
@@cylo1859I called it at the beginning too but the game convinced me I had to be wrong so it stung a lot more
It didnt surprise me the game tried to make it so you like him and tgat you can trust him and that raised my suspicions
@theoutsiderjess4869 he seemed kinda suspicious but later on he saved Cal multiple times so I started to think he is truly good
@@Optimus337 that’s how they got me. He was truly good but he was in an impossible situation. That’s why the Jedi forbade having families
Jedi Survivor has become my favorite to enjoy Star Wars. Fantastic story, great combat, strong exploration, and to top it all off Panchos. All jokes aside the customizable aspects of the game ate up most of my play time.
I just don't find the story too compelling. I just can't get into it. Gameplay is what I enjoy the most
Your a liar lmao
I did like Survivor. But to be honest I like the first game more.
I think my problem with the sequel is there's not a lot going on until the final third of the game. After the intro the game just kinda mellows out and isn't very gripping until close to the end.
I definitely like the new mechanics and gameplay more, and I did like Survivors story whenever it decides to pick up. But it's just not enough for me to prefer it over the first game.
Also I gotta say the planets and exploration felt dull to me in comparison.
I think because the two primary locations throughout the whole game are only Khobo and Jeda. Both of which are mostly brown and kinda samey. Both with eachother and within their own environments.
I like them but there wasn't near enough variety in environment for me. Which made me not care too much for exploring, which I did plenty of.
I dunno. I think having a tighter story with a little more going on and a few more different environments would definitely benefit the game a lot.
I'd give it a solid high 7 or low 8 out of 10. I like it, but wish it did a little more.
Also I wish the game wasn't totally broken and had a playable framerate without crashes and freezes the whole time😂.
I'm not sure how patched up it is by now, but oh boy it was not fun when I played it at launch
This game is literally peak Star Wars. I wish my dad could have played it, he loved the force unleashed and he got me into Star Wars
I love games like this. It´s just a long eventful ride with good story, characters and gameplay with no bullshit. Also I love that this game SLAPS at some moments. When Cal and Merrin where jumping through portal around that drilling ports, I was just screaming in excitement.
I feel you on that bro. The sound design on that scene was incredible.
Bode's betrayal still stings. I started the game going "Oh, this guy is definitely gonna betray me", but then I loved his character so much I forgot all about my misgivings. Then he killed Cordova 😢
Will never ever forgive him for that
@Cryspycrazy I've just got the game on my PS5 (got it on xbox) and I'm just about to go to Tanalorr, but I was so reluctant to enter the cutscene where he betrays me because I fell back in love with him watching the cutscenes again. Goddamn Noshir Dalal and his amazing acting.
PS5 user here. Performance was never an issue for me.
I love this game and loved it since day 1.
Modern gaming hates the PC, talking about AAA games here, like Elden Ring and ReRemake 4 having issues that PS5 didn’t have half as much.
Jedi Survivor improved the open world exploration and the LIGHTSABER MOVESETS ARE THE BEST IN THIS GAME!
While the issues weren't exactly game breaking like they were on PC at launch it still wasn't great on PS5 or Series X at launch. Frame rates on performance mode regularly dropped into the 40fps mark and even sometimes less. In quality mode it would even drop into the 20s. Now all that seems to be ironed out in the latest patch and it's mostly stable even though they removed a bunch of RT goodies in quality mode.
Also keep in mind that the game isn't actually running 4k. Performance renders at around 1080p and upsamples to 1440p and Quality renders at about 1152 and upsamples to 4k. All cutscenes run at 30fps.
With that said, it was at least playable to the point of being able to enjoy it at launch on console. So there's that
Is it mostly a 60fps experience? I don’t mind a few dips here and there.
@@Bofa_DeezIt's mostly a 60fps experience on console now, but it was really bad for months after launch.
Should be playable now on console. But before the big patches we are talking framerates in the 30s in the 60fps mode in several main areas. And freezing. And crashing
@@sawdust8691 thanks, appreciate it
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is still a mess on the ps5 as well. There's T-posing characters when traveling to different planets, the hyper space animation doesn't always work, the inside of the cantina on Koboh doesn't always load in properly which allowed me to fall through the map, in the tombs when turning the camera there's flashing white boxes around the edge of the screen because the environment didn't load in time, amongst other issues.
I don't think it was contrived that the arrays allowed the mantis crew to make it to tanalor. They had to make the compass some how and also stated in game before the big twist that Dagan was the first to navigate the void so it's implied that the arrays allowed him to do such
Exactly. The compass is more along the lines of just a key that gives you the proper coordinates and exact flight path… but to make it in the first place, you have to navigate blind. This likely meant trial and error with aiming the Arrays even
32:05 btw a cool detail is, you can crush the big robots when you push them to you, its such a nice way to put out his darkness.
Huge props to respawn for fixing some of the minor annoyances from fallen order. Introducing fast travel, giving the option to remove fall damage, and replacing the “slow” ability were very welcome changes
The didn't replace it, they reworked it into an ability that has to build up, later allowing it to upgrade into a dark side rampage.
@@iainkilcar7463 no they replaced it
@@MrMaxwell no, you still can slow down time, it's the same force power just used in a different way mechanically
Insane to think it’s been a year since this dropped
As much as the twist with Bode surprised me and caught me off guard, which I loved, I do slightly like the story of Fallen Order more than Survivor. It was just so standalone and original.
I just platinum the game yesterday so this is perfectly timed
29:12 (Edit) Dank ferrik. Jacobcenter beat me to it.
I believe she doesn't die in Cal's arms. I think that Cal finally woke up, returned to the Archives and found Cere's body. As he touches her, his Psychometry activates and he sees all of the Cere playable parts and then her death at Vader's hands. Sure she looks right at Cal but that could be because of precognition as she's joining the Force and sees Cal holding her corpse.
Now for why I think this? As she "falls" into Cal's arms, the borders of the screen turn blurry like a vision. That and the fact as Cal finally cries, everything "turns" dark around him. We're returning to his present and nothing's left except for a little light and falling ash from Cere's fight.
Loved the video! Also how I stumbled across this video with no knowledge of your second channel, Ozzy, this was one hell of a great video!
I replayed Jedi Survivor too and noticed so much regarding Bode, like you explained in the video, and it just makes it so much better. This might be one of the best games I've played!
fire vid bro i really like ur vids they are high quality especially for a channel just starting out i seriously thought this was a channel thatd been up for years already best of luck and god bless
I hope the third installment features more legacy planets. I know there is an argument to be made with old planets being overused in new stories for nostalgia baiting, but I think respawn could create a really beautiful world that’s fun to explore if they used a setting like Bespin, Cato Nemoidia, or Lothal.
Edit: assuming it makes sense for Cal to visit in the context of the adventure that he’s on.
The scene with Bode’s home at the ISB headquarters is so tense, and I love it. You know that Bode hasn’t begun fighting because 1) he knows Cal has a lot of questions and 2) because Kata is there. If Kata wasn’t there, Bode’d have ignored the first reason and started throwing force hands.
The only thing I wish this game did differently was keep cal on the dark side. By the end of the game he goes through so much pain and suffering just to have him brought back from his hate by Merrin. They could have kept him going into a possible 3rd game with anger giving us even more gameplay options by having cal be able to use both sides of the force. The story could even be cals trust in the force as he struggles with his new emotion wanting him to explore both sides of the force while pushing away his friends and people who care about him. Could have even kept bode alive so he can be the main villain going into the next game or have him be a sorta prisoner who cal goes to for advice on the dark side and obviously setting up a redeem ark for bode
You still get to use the Dark side mode it's just not as OP as it was when you first used it but it is a huge step up from normal slow
Great video, great game - can’t wait for the next one
I remember thinking that Bode would betray Cal when he was introduced, then they bonded and i thought, oh that a good guy, it was always an up and down with him, at the end i was convinced hes good and i aas absolutely gutted when he finally did betray cal
great review great content and very nice humor.
gg's mate and thanks for this video!
i loved the lightsaber customization in the game i spend up to half an hour looking what goes well together
One of the greatest games Ive ever played. Underrated as hell.
I'm actually doing a one year live stream of this game. I'm glad that there are other people doing one year later celebration.
The story only has such a great feel is because of how the first one sets it up
The reviews weren't bad because of the story. The reviews were bad because the game was a horrible buggy unoptimized mess for some people. In fact most reviewers I watch, loved the game but couldn't recommend it because it was a mess. I just played for the first time and I had to give up on side content and rush the main story because my game was crashing constantly. And I have a 4090, 13900k and 64GB of ram. So a year later and for some people the game is still a mess. I didn't have frame rate issues like people had on release. I had constant crashes.
I have a 4070, 13700k and 32GB RAM and the only crashes I got were on Jedha and solved by turning off raytracing while there.
@@namechanged1 1 year later, I shouldn't have to turn graphical features off to keep the game from constantly crashing. I probably dialed the settings down but I don't think I turned ray tracing off and as I said, I shouldn't have to turn things off for the game to run. Great game ruined by poor optimization. I still had fun but the backlash over the optimization cost them a lot of money.
I love this game, and i love you. great breakdown and review x
Dad?
absolutely loved your analysis, you deserve so much more than 10k subs
These games, andor and visions are only three great pullers holding Star Wars together.
And i am happy that I can live with that.
Tales of the Jedi, rogue one, rebels, bad batch all range from good to fantastic as well
@@enzog1078 I forgot about rogue one.
@@enzog1078 Bad Batch is half the average Clone Wars arc, half the best Clone Wars arcs.
A little over a year later, I have so much love for this game and its predecessor. Top 10 fav games all time for me. Cal❤️❤️
I just finished my second run through. Loved it much more second time around. Not to say I didnt enjoy the first run but I took my time for a much more thorough journey.
I absolutely loved this game when it came out. The story was gripping, the combat was fun, and the exploration was rewarding. I consider it the best single player game I played in 2023.
Awesome video by the way! Came up in my recommended and definitely will be checking out more of your stuff!
Loved this game. My first playthrough was genuinely one of the funnest times I’ve had playing a story game. It was just a complete blast. I was overly hyped for this game and it didn’t disappoint me
Excellent video, great job, also great game
just got this and im so wowed its amazing
Just got around to it this week and i finished it in 2 days. Didnt think they could top the first game but they blew it out of the water. So much fun.
I played on pc and experienced a few minor issues but even with those it still blows fallen order out of the water
Imo this game is a 10/10. The risks an the darkness the developers took to make Cal even more depth i love it and the main cast and side characters make these 2 games beautiful cx i truly cant wait for thr 3rd finale and hope they do everyone Justice
First video I’ve seen of yours (I think lol), very nicely done!
My coworker and I shared a sentiment we heard shortly after launch:
As a Star Wars game, solid 8/10
As a Star Wars story, 11/10
Villains were wonky at times, but served their purposes at each step. The disastrous launch held this game back in a lotta ways, but I trust Respawn to learn from this for the conclusion of this trilogy.
The sad part about Bode’s death is Cal hesitated to shoot him and only did when he realized Bode attempted to shoot him without hesitation
It's crazy that had Bode's blaster not malfunctioned, he would've killed Cal right there.
@@MChief123well thing is cal destroyed his blasters when he embraced the dark side you can see them smoking too
I loved this game so much
I've been playing the game recently because of may the fourth and wanting to revisit the game and honestly its super good, i don't think I've seen a single performance issue at the point I'm at and the game seems way more polished then it was at launch
When I played through this game, my save glitched somehow and I couldn’t do any bounty missions, finished the entire game without ever unlocking that section of the pause menu
I loveeeeee your Videos i need moreeee
Honestly the Cere scene where she gives BD1 the archive code thing has to be a callback to A New Hope where Leia gives R2D2 the Death Star Plans before the empire attacks the Tantive IV
30:07 true introduction of our GOAT, 50. Cal Kestis
That mullet looks so good on Cal. I love it!!
I saw Bodes betrayal coming shortly before it happened.
It was the "we don't have to do this conversation" they had (i think while the compass was being repaired)
I'm surprised that you didn't mention the sountrack. Barton and Haab really outdid themselves.
34:04 You thought you could sneak this one past us, huh 😂
Great video! I agree with everything you said. This is up there as one of my all time favorite games (I might be biased because of how much I love Star Wars), and I’m glad that people are looking back at the game now that a lot of the performance issues and bugs have been fixed. However, one aspect of the game that I think people are missing in these reviews are the side characters. I loved walking through the cantina every time I came back to Rambler’s Reach and talking to each and every person there. It was fun to find people out in the world and then get to hear their stories each time I came back to the cantina. Not to mention I couldn’t help but get a huge grin on my face every time I came across Skoova Stev, and get to hear his adventures as a fisherman. At the end of the game (and after you’ve heard the rest of their dialogue), a lot of the characters leave Koboh to get away from the new imperial presence. There were a lot of characters that I was sad to see go because over the course of my gameplay I felt like I really got to know them. By the end, the cantina has a lot fewer people and it made the ending of the game hit harder as more and more characters leave. That was one aspect of the game that I really appreciated and interacted with, and I don’t really see anyone mention it in these reviews.
Great job!
If this game, or the next one, had/has online capabilities and/or DCL content, I just legit wouldn’t stop playing. I LOVED both the Jedi games, but I just wish there was some option for coop play
Maybe the 3rd game (hopefully it's not a requirement)
Man… what a game. This video got me all back in my feels for this game. Such incredible characters, I’m so glad I was blessed to be able to play this game. Thank you for this reminder. Great video
one of my favourite games. easily
Not only did I platinum this game, I 100% explored and collected and every single thing possible in the game that there is to do, I did. I’m not sure if there’s many people who did that but I loved it so much that I spent 120 hours doing it. Probably my favorite game along with fallen order that I’ve ever played. Loved the video.
What a great video, thank you so much for the work put into this, it really shows and its really amazing
love ur vids! keep up the good work!
I love these video ideas, I look forward to seeing more!
You had me at "Bigger, Better, Deeper" 😅
Great video man.
I'm definitely the type suckered in by character driven stories and great dialogue writing, so I can forgive and ignore contrivances (hence why I personally loved TLoU2 and was willing to forgive some of the "Hollywood" decisions made) if it means helping the characters along, so I can agree that at its core, Survivor's story is held up by its strong cast, despite the fact High Republic weak points.
I adored this game last year, and I adore it this year. I plan to replay it soon, but I love that at the very least, this game is still appreciated even now.
gameplay wise, this game is better. Story wise, 1st one. Don't feel like 2nd one taught much as of being Jedi than the 1st one
Thats the point.
Why would he need to learn how to be a Jedi in this game? The story of this game is how hes realizing that the Jedi are dead, the order is dead, and he should start being who he wants to be
wasnt the point of the 2nd game, it was about moving on from the past
I'm feeling like the 3rd will go more into the meaning of being a Jedi, as Cal decides his place in the galaxy and what he stands for.
This game was great. Played on series x a month after release. Little to no issues on my end. 10/10
Just finsihed this game finally a few days ago. It's an honest 9.2/10 for me
One of my favorite games that I have played recently! I can also tell you with upmost certainty that the hardest boss is Rick the door technician, took me hours….
I absolutely had Bode pegged the instant he is introduced.
Been waiting on this one 🔥🔥
This story is better than anything in the prequels and sequels combined, and to me, on par with the originals and Andor.
“Aggressive crack heads that wanna throw down like there’s no tomorrow” lol 😂 I like to use dual because rapid fire attacks and if you need you can cancel attacks with block
Didn’t realize people had performance issues. I had a great experience with it at launch. Fantastic game
Rick the Door Technician is my favorite boss fight… because you have this very cocky scout trooper who, despite his boss health bar, has normal amounts of HP, and you can just wipe your ass with his defeat so easily.
My favorite way to kill him is to lift him up into the air, then slam him down, then up again, then slam him down, then up, and then down again. 3 of each, and he dies. You disrespect him so hard
Idc game should’ve got nominated for game of the year. Never experienced any issues on the ps5 and the game itself had improved immensely with customization, intricate gameplay, and the map. It was on par or even better than Spider-Man2
bro it screen tears on ps5
For future reference, and to prevent the nerds who get mad when you call a moon a planet for simplicity’s sake, you can just call them “worlds”.
it has not been a year i dont believe it nor will i think about it
I think that now Cal is finally becoming a jedi master
I downloaded this game 2 days ago and the crashing issues on PC have not been fixed, had to turn off Raytrace to stop the crashing and it still has random hangs. EA = gimmie that money.... see ya!
This game was obvi very successful but like said in the video ppl just stopped talking abt this game, and I think a way that they could’ve avoided that was by bringing back and expanding on the training grid. If they brought it back it would be a way to combine enemies fought only in this game with enemies only fought in the first, as well as expanding on its capabilities allowing for a more sandbox feel where you can kinda do anything (within perimeters). This would also act as one of the only reasons to keep playing the game after beating the main story once or twice.
Cal: "LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING DAGAN, JEDI OF THE HIGH REPUBLIC: "
pre-ordered the game back then and played it, loved playing it. Then heard that almost everyone cant play the game. I had not a single problem besides a few lags but other than that it ran perfectly fine. I was chosen
Great video 🫡
One thing I actually really liked about this game was that I was suspicious of Bode from the beginning. But they got me to let my guard down and trust him. Which I think makes his betrayal easier to connect with Cal about.
One year later, after I had to upgrade my PC and needed the implementation of DLSS the game actually runs, needing a 30 series card (got a 4070 ti now) for a game, when people that have 30 or 40 series cards are only a small minority in the community, is first of all a joke. Secondly, even after all this time I have considerable crashes, when I'm on a Discord stream my game just dies and my PC with it (my voice getting robotic on Discord and the PC stuttering with the game) and it doesn't go away until I restart the PC, the world is still very buggy, lots of textures you can just go through because of a lack of solid walls, many many lighting issues, my screen flickering at times because of rendering issues, Raytracing doesn't work without crashing your game and a bunch of other minor issues... This is how I would've expected the game to be at launch... yet when I played it at launch the experience was obviously infinitely worse, this game has not been taking care of well... it's really a shame calling this a finished product
Great channel
God this was so good, really hope they finish strong with the third one.
I never finsihed the game. Played through to after the first fight with one arm boy. Might pick it up even though I know the story now lol.
Great review! I agree the game is great overall. I think my main gripes are that 1. while I liked the individual events of the story, I didn't feel like it all built to a big finale like I would have hoped. Instead it more felt like thing after thing happening. I liked the story beats, but I think the pacing could have been better. 2. the collectables didn't grab me as much as I would have hoped so I didn't play long after I beat the story. 3. I think it's fine that they introduced the darkside as an option, but I didn't personally want to play that way so I only used it when the game literally made me. Which did make some of the later fights pretty challenging. I just wish there was some element of player choice to embrace or not embrace or that I at least still had access to regular slow-mo still. Can't wait for the 3rd and I bet it'll be the best yet. Really hoping for playable sections as Merrin
U CANNOT TELL ME IT WAS RELEASED ONE YEAR AGO NOW WAY. mannn i feel like it just released still
19:25 I personally took issue with the game forcing us to hunt down and stop Dagan. His methods were misguided and obviously dark side influenced but the end result was another powerful enemy for the Empire to contend with.
Eventually we'd have to stop him sure but for now the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Especially with how my enemy's overwhelming me atm
Odd quirk of this game on release was that the three players in my friendship group who had average computers (my best mate only just met the minimum) had a pretty enjoyable experience on release. The two with massively overkill systems (bloody accountants - go figure) had nothing but problems even getting the game to run. Really weird.
Cal turning to the dark side is one of the top moments in gaming
Really hoping we get that may 4th update for arena modes and maybe bring bosses from the other games
