    I love the slower, calmer music. So many decluttering videos have wild dance music or something and move so quickly you can't even see what's being done. I appreciate your thoughtfulness about your items and taking it nice and slow. 😌 Will always look forward to seeing more!

    I love how laid back and thoughtful your minimalism videos are. It's a completely different vibe to other minimalism content I've seen and it lines up with my own approach and attitude so much better. I find decluttering relaxing, so having a video series with chill vibes to keep me company is great :)

    You have what you have. You don’t have to listen to anyone else’s definition of minimalism. Minimalism is different for everyone.

    Nice job Grace! Decluttering sentimental items is tough! I wonder for any sentimental Jack items you can arrange them in a nice shadow box? I love containing items in a shadow box...it's instant art, it's contained and it's easy to dust! Love the books for pickles concept...God bless NYC and its wackiness! Keep up the great job removing items that no longer serve you...I am sure they will all find loving homes!

      they say there's no "set ratio" of pickles to books, but to use your best judgement. it isn't one to one though. it's essentially a handful of books for a jar of pickles I think :)

      @@gracenevitt feeling better knowing you are okay!! it's nothing like popped off, it's just all the sleepless nights and days you put into making and editing them, all slowly slowly making more and more sense !! time to declutter the comment section then :)

    This is painful to watch. Unfinished projects, bags of to-do items stuck in a closet, bags of old hobby junk. She is me. I am she. But I’m trying! 😅

      sometimes this is the reality of life!!! nothing is perfect and I just want to highlight that and make people (like me) feel less alone in their imperfect and messy minimalism journey💗

    I get the idea from this episode that where you are at and where you think you are at is not the same. Perhaps you need to acknowledge that you are not a minimalist and don't want to be either. You want to be more intentional and simplify your life. Getting rid of your excess is sufficient. That doesn't equate minimalism. Minimalism is a potential outcome. You may or may not end up there. Acknowledging that will actually allow you to declutter with more ease. Why measure yourself against an imaginary target that exists only in your head? Uneccary pressure without gain.

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      this is a very honest insight!! I appreciate it. I feel like minimalism is definitely a lifestyle/state of mind and in my mind it has no true "ideal state", but just that you are living with only the things you need and use and that bring you immense joy. I certainly (realistically) have a lot more decluttering to do. I just want to get to a point where I feel as though I'm at one with my space. right now I'm living in a place where over 70% of the stuff doesn't belong to me, so that certainly affects how my "minimalism" may look to someone. either way, I will let go of expectations and focus more on what my true intentions are.

      @@gracenevitt I also still have a lot of decluttering to do. I have hoarding disorder, so that means extra slow and extra painful in my case. I have done a lot of research and from my observation of those going through the same process as us, it can easily take 3 years of steady decluttering before that click. So that knowledge I found very freeing. It means consistent progress is more important than volume initially until you find your pace. It also means there's no rushing and getting it over with. So that removed a lot of the pressure for me. Yesterday I delivered 4 bags to the charity shop. Tomorrow someone is collecting a bulky piece of furniture I don't want. Steady, steady until the click comes. Knowing it's not 'soon' but also knowing it will happen as long as I keep on decluttering. I'm not concerned with how many things it will be or when. I'm focused on intentionally letting go until there is no more excess. I frankly don't care what label that might wear. I have more stuff than I can manage. It's that simple.

      @@The_Joy_FinderI’m in the same boat. I find it’s a process, like cleaning. It’s never done if we remain mindful of our possessions. I’ve been doing it for years. We can do this!
